To evaluate the radiometric performance of top-of-atmosphere reflectance images, Deep Convective Clouds (DCCs) can be used as temporally, spatially and spectrally stable targets. The DCCs method has been developed more than 20 years ago and applied recently to Sentinel-2 and Sentinel-3 sensors. In this paper, among other developments, we built a new methodology upon those existing by using the bootstrap method and spectral band adjustment factors computed with the Hyper-Spectral Imager (HSI) from the Environmental Mapping and Analysis Program (EnMAP). The substantial data volume within dynamic point clouds representing three-dimensional moving entities necessitates advancements in compression techniques. Motion estimation (ME) is crucial for reducing point cloud temporal redundancy. Standard block-based ME schemes, which typically utilize the previously decoded point clouds as inter-reference frames, often yield inaccurate and translation-only estimates for dynamic point clouds. To overcome this limitation, we propose an advanced patch-based affine ME scheme for dynamic point cloud geometry compression. Our approach employs a forward-backwa

AbstractIt is believed that the splitting of the SMC into two fragments and the production of the Inter-Cloud gas and the Magellanic Stream occurred in the one event 4 × 108 years ago. This event was a collision between the LMC and SMC. This time is too short for the Stream to be tidal, or be the result of stripping of the Inter-Cloud gas by a diffuse gaseous halo. It is proposed that the clouds in the Stream are the results of collisions between the Inter-Cloud gas and HVCs in the Galactic halo. A model of this process accounts for all of the observational features of the Stream. Observations

AbstractStar clusters are often born as star-cluster systems, which include several stellar clumps. Such star-cluster complexes could have formed from turbulent molecular clouds. Since Gaia Data Release 2 provided us high quality velocity data of individual stars in known star-cluster complexes, we now can compare the velocity structures of the observed star-cluster complexes with simulated ones. We performed a series of N-body simulations for the formation of star-cluster complexes starting from turbulent molecular clouds. We measured the inter-cluster velocity dispersions of our simulated st

The susceptibility of cloud droplet number to cloud condensation nuclei number is one of the major factors controlling the highly uncertain change in the amount of solar radiation reflected by clouds when aerosol emissions are perturbed (the radiative forcing due to aerosol–cloud interactions). We investigate this susceptibility in low-level stratiform clouds using long-term (3–10-yr) in situ observations of aerosols and clouds at three high-latitude locations. The in situ observations show higher susceptibility for low-level stratiform clouds than values reported for satellite dat

The same rigid shape can be often represented by noisy point clouds of different sizes. Hence, the isometry shape recognition problem requires methods that are independent of a cloud size. This paper studies stable-under-noise isometry invariants for the recognition problem stated in the harder form when given clouds can be related by affine or projective transformations. Inter-cloud is a recently emerging approach that expands cloud elasticity. By facilitating an adaptable setting, it purposes at the realization of a scalable resource provisioning that enables a diversity of cloud user requirements to be handled efficiently. This study’s contribution is in the inter-cloud performance optimization of job executions using metascheduling concepts. This includes the development of the inter-cloud meta-scheduling (ICMS) framework, the ICMS optimal schemes and the SimIC toolkit.
