Gestural interaction has been investigated as an interaction technique for many years and could potentially deliver more natural and intuitive methods for human computer interaction. As a novel input mode compared to traditional input devices such as keyboard and mouse, researchers have been applying gestural interaction in many dif- ferent domains. There are many different gestural interaction methods and systems which have been built for both research and mass production. Recent breakthroughs in effective interaction and effective operator techniques allow us to take a new look at this field that has seen limited progress in the past twenty years. Three different methods of calculating the effective interaction and effective operators are described and compared. The idea of effective field theory (EFT) was developed decades ago in low-energy strong-interaction - hadronic and nuclear - physics. After introducing chiral perturbation theory (ChPT), we focus in this dissertation on three non-perturbative cases that standard ChPT cannot deal with by itself. First, we investigate pion-nucleon (πN) scattering around the delta resonance, which is an important non-perturbative feature of low-energy nuclear physics. We show that in order to describe πN scattering around the delta peak, a power counting is necessary that goes beyond the power counting of ChPT. U

The safe and efficient design of many offshore structures is critically dependent on the accurate prediction of the applied wave loads. In analysing these loads, the contribution arising at or close to the instantaneous water surface is particularly significant. The reasons for this relate to moment arm effects leading to large contributions to the total overturning moment, to the uncertainty in the predicted kinematics and hence the applied loads and, perhaps most significantly, to the occurrence of wave-in-deck loads. Abstract:
The vulnerability of a ship to the impact of underwater explosions (UNDEX) and how to incorporate this factor into early-stage ship design is an important aspect in the ship survivability study. In this dissertation, attention is focused on the cost-efficient simulation of the ship response to a far-field UNDEX which involves fluid shock waves, cavitation, and fluid-structural interaction. Traditional fluid numerical simulation approaches using the Finite Element Method to track wave propagation and cavitation requires a high-level of mesh refinement to prevent numerical dispersion from discon

Abstract:
The fundamental advancement of information technology has given rise to distance education industry hence it has helped to the popularity of distance education among people. However, for employing innovative and advanced tools universities need financial resources. Reaching to these resources is not easy and accessible. Interaction equivalency theorem can be a good solution for overcoming the financial problems but designers are reluctant to utilize it because they think that education quality will decrease due to lack of teacher interaction. This study demonstrated that students’ perception t
