Abstract:
Museums are vast resources, but much of their information is inaccessible to visitors. Typical labels for artifacts provide few details, making it difficult for non-expert visitors to learn about an artifact, and to find its relevance to other artifacts or to themselves. Although museums have developed interpretive aids such as brochures and audio guides, these are limited and do not offer visitors the possibility to explore artifacts both broadly and deeply as they go through an exhibition. Visitors often have questions that go unanswered or pass through an exhibition without being engaged. A

Abstract:
The vision of personal robot assistants continues to become more realistic with technological advances in robotics. The increase in the capabilities of robots, presents boundless opportunities for them to perform useful tasks for humans. However, it is not feasible for engineers to program robots for all possible uses. Instead, we envision general-purpose robots that can be programmed by their end-users. Learning from Demonstration (LfD), is an approach that allows users to program new capabilities on a robot by demonstrating what is required from the robot. Although LfD has become an establ

The goal of this investigation was to explore the efficacy of implementing a rehabilitation robot controlled by a noninvasive brain-computer interface (BCI) to influence brain plasticity and facilitate motor learning. The motivation of this project stemmed from the need to address the population of stroke survivors who have few or no options for therapy. A stroke occurs every 40 seconds in the United States and it is the leading cause of long-term disability [1-3]. In a country where the elderly population is growing at an astounding rate, one in six persons above the age of 55 is at risk o

This project is an HTML-based interactive learning guide for the channel strip of an analog audio console. A very important skill for students studying audio production, recording and engineering is to understand the signal flow of an audio console. Much of learning the entire console is understanding the function and signal flow of the mono channel strip. The channel strip is the first signal input of the console and handles many of the essential functions of signal processing while recording and mixing. The study investigates the potential of teacher talk in enhancing learner capacity to negotiate learning, premised on a view of classroom interaction as guided construction of knowledge. It examines the extent to which levels of oracy - essentially, awareness of the language of instruction, and the ability to use it more effectively - can be raised by exposing teachers to an in-service distance education language-based course. The main research questions are: a. What are the effects of the course in classroom text and discourse on oracy in the high school classroom? b. How can the quali
