Full textThis dissertation elaborates on the role of implicit embodied knowledge in recognition and discovery through the use of visual instruments. Discovery refers to the very first act of recognition of something, that''s existence or features were not explicitly known by the discovering person beforehand. According to a central thesis of this work discovery is enabled by the transmodal character of empirical concept formation. This epistemological question is elaborated based on the case of emergent patterns of urban organization that appear on urban real-time maps from the bird''s eye view. Trends of interactive mapping are shown where urban sensor-data, location data of persons, objects, and information, as well as user generated information is visualized. The conclusion contains outlooks how knowledge gained from interactive urban maps can be utilized in urban development projects and in the development of location sensitive technologies.

Full textBackground With the technological development, the concept of interac=vity hasbecome increasingly debated, not only in the produc=on of interac=vestories. Interac=ve storytelling is a rela=vely new area of research, whichhas opened a new way of running a marke=ng campaign. However, noresearch has been found regarding how an interac=ve marke=ngcampaign can be run and visualized, on social media. The study istherefore, considered significant for the development of a new approachfor businesses to interact with their target audience.Purpose The purpose of this study is to map out the process for how companiescan run and visualize interac=ve marke=ng campaigns, on social media.Method The study used design and crea=ve as a strategy, where the methods usedconsisted of a qualita=ve literature study, visual content analysis, threeweb surveys and prototyping. The methods have collected data throughan itera=ve approach. The selec=on of the visual content analysisconsisted of a total of 20 marke=ng campaigns with storytelling. Thesample for the web surveys consisted of the convenience sampling, wherethe sample consisted of 677 graphic designers.Results The result of the study indicates that it’s possible to create an interac=vecampaign using available poll func=ons on social media, where two to sixparallel ac=ons are made possible through vo=ng. Furthermore, the studyresulted in a prototype of an interac=ve campaign, with two parallelac=ons.Conclusions In conclusion the study resulted in the crea=on of a process map, with thepurpose of guiding companies to visualize and run interac=ve marke=ngcampaigns, on social media.

Full textThis essay investigates how two nonprofit Swedish organizations market themselves in social media. The foundation is different theories about how Internet in connection with Web 2.0 has become a platform for social interaction and theories about what social media is prominent in terms of reaching out to many people. This essay focuses both on how organizations experience marketing in social media, what user behavior can be distinguished and how it might affect the viral spread of the organizations’ publications online. To gain insight, we performed interviews with representatives who are responsible for the organizations’ social media, and performed quantitative data gathering, in which we conducted statistics on their development in social media in terms of numbers. Based on theories about various aspects of social media and the qualitative and quantitative data, we could see several aspects that indicate that social media are outstanding when it comes to marketing online.

Full textPrimary schools digitalization makes broad multimodal opportunities. Previous research does not illustrate how active teachers who teach the subject Swedish handle multimodal texts in teaching for pupils in grades 4–6. This study illuminates how teachers perceive multimodal and narrative texts and how these texts can develop pupils writing skills in grades 4–6. To fulfill the purpose of this study thematic analysis was chosen as the method. There is also a focus on the conceptions of teachers concerning working with multimodal and narrative texts in the classroom. The result shows that the teachers' conceptions are that when creating multimodal and narrative texts, an interaction needs to happen. Through interaction in the classroom, pupils will develop writing skills. Conclusions presented are that multimodal texts are often offered through interactive media such as YouTube.com. Narrative texts must be produced with predetermined structure to be assessable and regardless of what texts pupils create, it must be done in contexts where interaction is given space. Classroom dialogue promotes pupils to feel a joy in to tell narrative stories.

Full textThis project is a collaboration with Brokk AB to study how illustration can be adapted for presentation on small and large digital surfaces. User interface and navigation have been studied to find how graphic elements create a framework for presenting illustration and to find how interplay affects usability. The result shows that adaptation to digital mediums mostly depends on the complexity of the information, but also on physical presuppositions. The conclusion is that interplay between illustration and interface must work unanimously to communicate information effectively.

Full textThere are many benefits with social media but nevertheless several downsides. The downsides within this context includes violations, harassment and threats. Online hate speech as a concept is difficult to define, which makes the question even more relevant to discuss. In order to highlight the discussion about online hate speech on social media, this project will design a prototype for an interactive product adapted for youngsters. The interactive product shall work as an engaging complement when teaching youngsters about online hate speech. To create an interactive product who engage youngsters regarding online hate speech on social media we deemed experts and potential users as relevant to examine. The project therefore implemented a qualitative research approach through individual interviews and focus groups. The individual interviews were implemented with experts within the field of online hate speech and the focus groups with potential users, 13–19-year-olds. The results of the examination were analyzed based on the project’s theoretical framework, in the form of counter-strategies on social media, interaction design and serious games. The most prominent themes and the ones of the highest relevance for the project were subsequently highlighted. The empirical material was used to identify the requirements and needs that the interactive product should meet. The project shows that the interactive product should be able to be used regularly and be of game character. Three prominent categories were identified as extra important to include in our prototype; counter strategies, the definition of online hate speech and gender issues. Following the results from the project, a prototype was created for an interactive game in the form of a mobile application with integrated discussion in the classroom.
