Abstract:
This paper reports on a rich, qualitative research study that aimed to discover how undergraduate and culturally diverse students experienced a collaborative, international, online, experiential project to learn about intercultural communication. Student participants in the study endorsed experiential learning in culturally diverse groups about intercultural communication through intercultural communication. The data revealed how participants made sense of and responded to intercultural communication amongst team members by juxtaposing personal experience of working in the online international learning group, their own cultural heritage and the literature available to them. The author concludes that experiential learning is a powerful tool for learning about intercultural communication through intercultural communication in the context of online, international and culturally diverse teams working on business case studies. It is also recommended as an activity that serves the process of internationalising a business communication curriculum and some of the broad aims of global citizenship.

Abstract:
International relations between China and Russia have a long-lasting history. At the same time interpersonal contacts between these two ethnic groups face difficulties associated with language, cultural distance, prejudices and other factors. This article presents a review of studies on the problem of Russian-Chinese intercultural interaction. Due to its interdisciplinary nature the studies are scattered both methodologically and with respect to its theoretical foundations. In this regard, we conditionally divide the considered works into four main areas: studying the perception of the image of Russia and China among Russians and Chinese, classification of Sino-Russian communication barriers, cross-cultural analysis of communication components, and indigenous concepts of Chinese psychology related to the process of intercultural interaction. A brief review of the modern research results gained by Russian and Chinese authors on effective communication and building trustful relationships is given. The results of studies revealing important differences at the level of verbal and non-verbal communication are presented. Particular attention is paid to cross-cultural research aimed at identifying etic and emic attributes of the situation of intercultural interaction. The most common approaches to understanding the concept of trust and its operationalization in Chinese studies are described. The importance of further studying mechanisms of building trustful relationships between representatives of the two countries is noted. In conclusion, unresolved problems and current trends in the study of intercultural communication are identified.

The article compares two recent Nordic anthologies on intercultural communication. One volume, Askehave/Norlyk’s Meanings and Messages (2006) addresses the topic from a specific, business-oriented viewpoint, whereas the second collection, Dahl et al.’s Bridges of Understanding (2006) builds on a broader definition of the subject. This reflects on the contents, with the former relying on business as a central point of reference, while the latter highlights theoretical differences and interdisciplinarity. The review assesses the books in relation to the teaching of intercultural communication, discussing editorial aims, theoretical outlook, approach to culture, and accessibility. It concludes that the books are important because of the way they attempt to communicate Nordic research, but also that they do not quite meet the requirements that this reader makes from course literature in intercultural communication.

Analytical review of foreign psychological research on the international conflict styles is presented in this article. Intercultural conflict is understood as an interpersonal conflict between representatives of different cultures. The main models describing the intercultural conflict styles are analyzed: the dual concern model, the intercultural conflict styles inventory model, the face negotiation model. The publication provides a brief review of modern studies’ results of behavior predictors in the intercultural conflict; special attention is paid to the analysis of the influence of culture and intercultural communication apprehension on the choice of conflict styles. The importance of assessing the conflict styles effectiveness used in the situation of intercultural interaction is noted. In conclusion, unresolved problems and actual trends in the study of behavior in the intercultural conflict are designated.

In the world of super-diversity, education for intercultural citizenship has acquired a special significance. Despite numerous reviews in the research literature that address the intercultural citizenship in foreign language (FL) education, very few studies have investigated the connections between language learners’ motivation for studying a foreign language and their development of intercultural citizenship (IC). This study aims to bridge this gap by focusing on this relationship. For this purpose, quantitative data was collected from 407 students through an online questionnaire. The results revealed that the respondents consider intercultural communication, travel, networking, and future prospects, as important motivations for learning English. Moreover, the participants reported having a diverse range of intercultural experiences and feeling prepared for intercultural communication and citizenship. However, when evaluating their English classes’ effectiveness in preparing them for these aspects, the majority of students expressed that their EFL classes did not adequately equip them for high-level intercultural communication and citizenship. This research contributes to existing literature by investigating the connection between students’ motivation to learn English and their intercultural communication and citizenship skills and behaviors. Furthermore, the study emphasizes the significance of providing students with the necessary skills and knowledge to engage in purposeful and successful intercultural dialogue. I begin by providing some historical context that has influenced society’s outlook on intercultural relationships. I then provide a literature review that explores current studies on intercultural similarities and differences, effective coping strategies, and possible modifications in couples’ therapy. I argue that increasing communication within intercultural relationships will allow partners to create a culture of their own. Finally, I suggest that professionals should require education in different cultural backgrounds to provide safe, accurate, and successful couples’ therapy.

This research investigates intercultural communication competence (ICC) and its main components (affective, cognitive and behavioral) in relation to academic mobility. It also discusses the value of assessing intercultural competence in higher education and points out the relationship between academic mobility, foreign language learning and the development of intercultural competence. The discussion then leads to the development of an intercultural communication assessment tool for academic mobility: Mobile Students’ Intercultural Competence Scale (MSICS). This tool focuses mainly on analyzing Turkish Erasmus students’ intercultural competence before and after their study abroad experience. Even though many intercultural competence assessment tools exist in the present literature, there is a lack of materials in this context which mainly focus on analyzing mobile students’ intercultural communication competence.

Although various aspects of intercultural communication have been examined in the works of various authors, there is still a lack of more in-depth research to analyse effective intercultural interaction in the context of combining intercultural competences and creativity competences. A number of works on intercultural communication identify only the barriers to effective communication and provide ways to overcome them; they insufficiently focus on the importance of competence development, in particular the role of creativity in ensuring effective intercultural communication. Meanwhile, the role of creativity as a process of generating new ideas and solving problems in intercultural communication is undeniable. There is no doubt that in order to ensure effective intercultural communication, it is necessary to combine intercultural competences with creativity competences. The object of this study is the development of intercultural competencies and creativity competencies in the context of intercultural interaction. The aim of this article is to examine the development of intercultural competencies and creativity as a basis for successful intercultural communication. Through the works of various scholars, the article describes the aspects of intercultural competences and creativity competence development in the context of intercultural interaction, and emphasises the importance of combining these competencies in order to achieve effective intercultural communication. The following methods are applied in the work: analysis and synthesis of scientific literature.

With the current prevalence of economic globalization, English is still the international language of choice. The definition of cross-cultural: have a full and correct understanding of cultural phenomena, customs, and habits that are different or conflicting with the national culture, and accept and adapt to it with an inclusive attitude on this basis. Therefore, for Chinese universities, the focus is on cultivating highly qualified talents with intercultural communication skills for the country’s economic development. Intercultural communication skills are an important part of students’ language communication skills. China’s business English teaching has also begun to focus on the cultivation of students’ cross-cultural communication skills, but the effect is not satisfactory. In business English teaching, the most important thing is to improve students’ professional competence and business English expertise, and to cultivate foreign language talents with cross-cultural quality and global awareness. Based on the above reasons, this paper proposes a research on the integration of business English teaching and intercultural communication competence cultivation based on intelligent algorithms. First, this paper adopts the literature method to understand the difficulties in traditional business English teaching and the problems in the process of cultivating intercultural communication competence; then, it adopts the inductive-deductive method of intelligent algorithm and action research method to study the mode of cultivating intercultural communication competence and comprehensive experimental research. Finally, after comprehensive analysis, it was concluded that: the number of domestic literature on intercultural communication competence cultivation increased by 11.98%, and the number of literature was generally on the rise; there were significant differences in test results; the experimental students who were satisfied with the cultivation model studied in this paper reached 45.6%. This article attempts to investigate and analyze the needs of English majors for the cultivation of business English intercultural communicative competence, so as to provide a reference for cultivating students’ intercultural communicative competence. The above data fully indicate that the use of contextual teaching method to cultivate intercultural communication skills in business English courses is effective, attracting students’ enjoyment, cultivating their intercultural communication skills, enhancing their understanding of business etiquette, and improving their ability to conduct business conversations. Intercultural communicative competence refers to the ability to communicate when two parties from different cultural backgrounds communicate in the same situation.

Emotion has been widely studied in multiple disciplines which include but are not exhaustive to cognitive psychology, neurobiology, anthropology and linguistics. However, emotion in the context of intercultural communication has received far less well-deserved attention. On the other hand, although certain social factors such as context, common ground, formulaic language use and salience are deemed as indispensable helping us to understand the nature of and challenges in intercultural communication, a key concept such as emotion and its role in shaping people’s perceptions, interpretations, attitudes and language use in intercultural contexts is in effect neglected or taken from an intuitive departure, despite a burgeoning growth of literature contributing to conceptualising intercultural communication theories. In this paper, I intend to fill this overlapping gap in the emotion studies and in the intercultural communication research, drawing on findings on the nature of emotion in cognitive psychology, anthropology and linguistics to develop a sociocultural model theorising emotion in intercultural contexts. Naturally occurring intercultural interactions, where Mandarin is used as the language of communication, are employed to illustrate how the model can be applied to analysing emotion, language and culture in intercultural encounters. It is hoped that this paper can contribute to interdisciplinary efforts on theorising emotion in the area of intercultural communication.

The article deals with the actual problem of the functioning of language and culture in the process of intercultural communication in the context of bilingualism and multilingualism. In the course of conducting scientific research, the analysis and description of the material of linguistic, sociological and linguodidactic scientific literature of a lexicographic nature was carried out in order to identify the degree of reflection of the participation of language as a toolkit (tool) of culture in the process of intercultural communication and its definition in the corresponding dictionary entries characterized by similarities and differences. The main differences lie in the explicit or implicit expression of the participation of language in the process of intercultural communication, or in not providing for the role of language in this global interethnic communication. The basis of intercultural communication is language as a means of transmitting information, and bilingualism as a linguistic and speech property of representatives of different nationalities, which ensures the implementation of intercultural communication. In the definitions of intercultural communication presented in four linguographic works, in understanding and defining it, language often goes by the wayside. 12 understandings and definitions of intercultural communication are analyzed. Of these, in 7 the participation of the language is presented explicitly, in 4 — implicitly, in one it is not presented. Intercultural communication cannot be carried out without interlingual communication: language, as a mirror of culture, reflects its inner and outer world, which forms foreign language and foreign cultural knowledge, abilities, skills, which together form and develop the interlinguistic and cultural competence of the individual and society. Intercultural communication is both a universal (universal) phenomenon and a national-specific phenomenon. The second is formed and functions in local conditions. The totality (class) of linguocultural communications in local conditions forms its world (universal) system and dynamics. Language and culture, as components of the act of functioning of intercultural communication, are a dual unity of social functions that ensure interethnic communication in various conditions of the individual and society. Language is a transmitter of culture, so we should talk about inter-linguocultural communication. In the process of conducting scientific research, inductive, deductive methods, comparative and linguostatistical methods were used, which gave scientific results of theoretical and practical significance.

The acquisition of intercultural competence is considered paramount in enabling learners to engage comfortably with individuals from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds. The ability to communicate and interact appropriately with individuals from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds is increasingly recognized as a fundamental component of the 21st century learning skillset. To investigate the attitudes, knowledge, and skills of students in relation to intercultural activities, this study employs a literature-based instructional approach. The implementation of the Intercultural communicative competence through English Literature (ICC-EL) paradigm among 92 students enrolled in the English Education Study Program at an Islamic higher education institution is the subject of this study. The research adopted a mixed-method approach to generate both quantitative and qualitative data. Specifically, a questionnaire was administered to students upon the completion of the course to elicit quantitative data, while qualitative data was obtained through observation of the students' performance by the course lecturer. The results demonstrate that the implementation of the ICC-EL model has proven to be successful in stimulating the students' intercultural communication skills. Furthermore, the study of literary materials in the form of English novels has encouraged students to administer their awareness of intercultural communication skills. The incorporation of a variety of techniques has provided students with greater exposure to diverse languages and cultures, thereby encouraging them to manage their intercultural communication skills. The assessment of intercultural communication competency employed in the ICC-EL model is deemed appropriate and adaptable for implementation in different language teaching and evaluation contexts.

Willingness to interact with people from different cultures is the most fundamental factor for successful and effective intercultural communication, and also crucial in the simulation of desire for interaction in such context. However, high-level communication apprehension reduces the level of intercultural willingness to communicate, which eventually affects intercultural communication and vice versa. Meanwhile, some scholars argued that a moderate level of communication apprehension will increase intercultural willingness to communicate. Hence, this study started with the investigation of the level of both communication apprehension and intercultural willingness to communicate and ended with the investigation on the relationship between communication apprehension and intercultural willingness to communicate among multicultural undergraduates from five public universities in Malaysia. A total of 450 respondents were recruited to participate in this study. Neuliep and McCroskey’s Intercultural Communication Apprehension scale and Kassing’s Intercultural Willingness to Communicate scale were adopted and modified to assess respondents’ communication apprehension and intercultural willingness to communicate, respectively. Data were coded, entered, and analysed using the IBM SPSS Statistics version 22. Our findings show that all respondents were having a moderate level of communication apprehension which eventually triggered a high level of intercultural willingness to communicate among these respondents. Pearson’s correlation analysis revealed a significant positive correlation between the moderate level of communication apprehension and intercultural willingness to communicate, just like the results documented in the review of the literature. The implications of the findings are discussed at the end of this paper.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to better understand the impact of intercultural communication and personality on customer satisfaction and loyalty in grocery retailing. In this endeavour, this study illustrates the unique context of intercultural communication to highlight several improvements in the literature and to encourage the advancement of the intercultural communication in the literature. Design/methodology/approach To initiate the research, a survey approach was taken. In total, 681 questionnaires were returned out of 1,100 that were distributed within selected grocery retailers in Klang Valley, Malaysia. The measurement of the constructs and their interrelationships is examined based on partial least square-structural equation modelling. Findings The findings validate the proposed framework with statistically significant relationships among all constructs. Furthermore, it exposes additional insights into some practical and conceptual solutions for addressing the intercultural communication of culturally diverse encounters in the Malaysian grocery retail industry. These contributions postulate an impetus for future research in various service settings. Originality/value Based on role, interdependence and cognitive consistency theory, this study assesses the role of the personality of grocery retail consumers on intercultural communication competence (ICC) and its impact on inter-role congruence (IRC) and interaction comfort (IAC). It is anticipated that by filling this knowledge gap, the research will assist in strengthening retail communication strategies, which require intercultural communication adjustments in a multicultural business environment. The ICC is expected to improve the retail industry competitiveness when it positively influences IRC and IAC among customers.

Abstract Currently, the Romanian military students are part of a military organization that is transparent and open to knowledge, innovation and cooperation, where intercultural mediation and interaction with different cultures is fostered. Interculturality brings with it a new matrix of communication, which implies an opening from interpersonal and social communication to intercultural communication. And the military educational environment must have the capacity to develop and refine intercultural communication competence and to overcome the communication barriers that the young soldier encounters. A paradigm shift is needed in which the Self and the other are complementary. The research presents on the basis of literature the concept of intercultural culture and communication as well as the defining elements for communication competence and intercultural communication competence. To achieve the proposed objectives empirical research based on observation and analysis will be conducted. The development of intercultural communication competence in the military environment implies the ability to negotiate cultural meanings and value system, the cultivation of a tolerant, open and permissive attitude to diversity.

The methodology includes both primary and secondary types of research: analysis of scientific literature and qualitative research. Twelve semi-structured interviews were conducted in three countries. The results show cultural peculiarities typical to each country and provide possible solutions to intercultural problems. The research aims to examine intercultural communication problems in tourism and hospitality enterprises and to identify types of strategies and actions required to develop intercultural communicative competence and to solve intercultural communication problems. The article provides company profiles, describes intercultural difficulties encountered and the designed employee-assessment questionnaire. The research findings may be of interest to tourism industry representatives and higher education institution stakeholders, including academic personnel and students who study intercultural communication as an important discipline in the tourism faculty.

The research aimed to analyze the intercultural communication competence based on international students’ experience in Indonesia and discussed how, in the globalization era, education had reached a new stage where the process of knowledge exchange had crossed national borders. However, educational institutions were not fully prepared to accommodate these modern needs. Although the study of intercultural communication was not new, concern for new cultural diversity had only received great attention lately, wherein the end, the Intercultural Communication Competence (ICC) in educational fields was still very low and must continue to be explored. The research applied a case and phenomenological study method with a descriptive qualitative approach. The data were gathered through semi-structured interviews and study literature. By analyzing the interactive multicultural building model, supported by the concept of intercultural communication and internationalization of higher education, the research results show that there are still inequalities and differences of opinion as well as an assessment of a three-perspective model that is used as the research focus. It consists of the affective process (intercultural sensitivity), cognitive process (intercultural awareness), and behavioral process (intercultural adroitness). Besides, there are various challenges that must be faced.

Different societies and cultures have varying values and norms in interpersonal and intergroup interaction. Where the communication is intracultural, the norms hardly constitute any hindrances, but in intercultural communication, the varying values could pose serious challenges. Along with the rapid globalization of the era, the public is increasingly paying attention to intercultural communication as an important component of success, both in life and at work. It is general knowledge that human beings cannot live without communication and due to the influence of globalization; communication is no longer confined solely to a community and national level but also on an international scale. Thus, intercultural communication is now more important than it ever was in every facet of society. Yet the effective intercultural communication needed for the aforementioned success is difficult to achieve. The paper adopted the library research method used to interrogate literature by getting data from secondary sources which will provide valuable useful materials for the study. The paper also conceptually discusses intercultural communication, obstacles, and possible solutions to these challenges in a multi-cultural state. Finding from the study suggests that working intercultural communication skill cannot only assist in eliminating communication issues like conflicts and misunderstanding but also promote a mutually beneficial relationship with parties involved in the communication process.

In the article the urgency of intercultural communication problem as a mean of understanding mental characteristics of different cultures is presented. The aim of the article is to perform definition analysis of the notion «intercultural communication». Analysis and systematization of scientific literature, comparative analysis and definition analysis of the «intercultural communication» notion were chosen as the leading methods. The logic of definition analysis of «intercultural communication» notion has been revealed. The aspects that are basic in the process of analytical research are presented, specifically: 1) the definition of intercultural communication as an integrative phenomenon that examines different aspects of interaction between the representatives of different cultures; 2) intercultural communication as a socially determined communicative process of informational interaction in the context of cultural exchange, which is carried out with the aim of mutual understanding. It is identified that intercultural communication, as an integrative phenomenon, contains knowledge of philosophic-cultural, socio-psychological, communicative and linguistic directions. The variability of approaches to the definition of the studied concept is revealed. Definitions of the «intercultural communication» concept are represented and its characteristic features are highlighted, specifically: the process of verbal and non-verbal communication of people from different cultures; the set of skills that provides the effectiveness of communication of people that belongs to different national and ethnic communities; the establishment of connection between people from different cultures; the acceptance of ways of thinking and behavior of different cultures; the ability to perform effective communicative interaction in the intercultural contexts; the social phenomenon; the interaction on micro-, meso- and microsocial level; the process of communication between the members of different cultural communities. It is noted that intercultural communication ensures effective interaction between different cultures and their representatives.

By using descriptive qualitative method with systematic literature review research from various relevant national and international journal sources, then analyzed using intercultural communication theory. The study’s findings indicate that the achievement of harmony and adaptation by couples from various cultural background and countries is inextricably linked to individual acceptance of their respective cultures.

The main methods used are the analysis and systematization of scientific literature to identify the main directions (aspects) of the study of the phenomenon of intercultural communication, their comparative and comparative analysis, and the definition of the concept of “intercultural communication” from the point of view of various aspects. The article presents the positions that are fundamental in the context of the research problem, namely: approaches to solving the problem of correlation of the concepts of “communication” and “converse”; foreign theories of intercultural communication (uncertainty reduction theory, adaptation theory, constructivist theory, theory of social categories and circumstances, theory of conflicts); methodological approaches to the study of intercultural communication (functional, explanatory, critical); main aspects of intercultural communication (cultural, linguistic, ethical, social and communicative, psychological, professional and applied). Taking into account the mentioned theories, approaches, categories and other scientific instruments, the concept of “intercultural communication” can be defined, firstly, as an integrative discipline that investigates the functioning of the system of laws and rules of interaction of representatives of different cultures and synthesizes the knowledge of the humanities of the philosophical and cultural, social and psychological, communicative and linguistic orientation; secondly, as a socially conditioned communicative process of informational interaction and targeted activity in the context of cultural exchange, which is carried out with the aim of achieving mutual understanding.

Traditional pedagogies often fail to provide the experiential learning needed to advance these competencies significantly. The flipped classroom model presents a promising approach, inverting the order of content delivery and application. This literature review analyzes research on implementing flipped classrooms for intercultural skill development in higher education. Effective strategies involve introducing cultural frameworks pre-class and applying concepts through role-plays and analysis in class. Studies highlight improved intercultural awareness and collaboration skills. However, purposeful course design, faculty training, and student preparation are vital. Additional comparative research can continue strengthening empirical insights. Overall, flipped classrooms hold meaningful potential for fostering the next generation of graduates equipped for communicating successfully across cultures, though thoughtful implementation remains key.

The article presents the results of the performed research of implementing the intercultural communication studies into the future teachers’ professional training. The relevance of the research is proved by the strong need to prepare today’s youth for reaching mutual understanding and avoiding barriers in communication. The purpose of the research is to substantiate the need of introducing the intercultural communication studies into the curriculum of future teachers training for enhancing their intercultural communication competence. The analysis of the structure of the intercultural communication competence is carried out, based on which the content of the intercultural communication course is developed. The research includes three stages. The methods which are applied in the research are theoretical methods for analysing the literature, modelling for substantiating the course content, and interpretive methods for assessing the research results. The article covers the main topics of the course, aimed at gaining culture knowledge and developing intercultural skills, behaviour abilities and attitude. To enhance future teachers’ intercultural competence, two methodological approaches are used: social scientific approach and interpretive methods. The effectiveness of the course is proved through measuring the level of language skills, assessed by Standardised test Cambridge English First, and behaviour abilities, assessed by a number of direct and indirect methods.

The writer uses qualitative methods and performs interviews with several students of Selangor University Malaysia to answer various questions. The results of this study show that his friends of different cultures have very intense intercultural communication. In places like cafés, lobbies, halls, classrooms, seats, and campus courts, people show their culture. Readers get literature about intercultural communication with new students who have cultural differences because the same cases happen every year. This is the benefit of this research.

Intercultural sensitivity, which is seen as an affective component of intercultural competence, is crucial to cultivating one’s favorable emotions about cultural differences experienced in intercultural communication. This qualitative study was conducted to find out how undergraduate English as a foreign language (EFL) students in Vietnam perceived intercultural sensitivity. The results showed that although the majority of students had not previously heard the phrase “intercultural sensitivity” before taking part in the survey, their intuitive understanding of the term was rather close to that of the literature. The participants were well aware of the evaluation of their intercultural sensitivity level. EFL students had different strategies for improvement of intercultural sensitivity depending on their study level and intercultural awareness. All participants, especially those who were learning a second language, believed that intercultural awareness is crucial. The study findings point to the recommendation that educators strive to further integrate intercultural sensitivity instruction and learning to improve EFL students’ capacity for intercultural communication.

The article is devoted to the problems of speaking skills in a foreign language, which cause barriers in communication with native speakers among students of language faculties. After analyzing various scientific works devoted to this problem, the authors come to the conclusion that the development of speaking skills is an important part in teaching a foreign language, since knowledge of individual words, phrases and grammatical rules of a foreign language does not guarantee successful communication. Due to the modern requirements of society, speaking skill is closely related to the concept of "intercultural communication", without highly developed speaking skills, effective intercultural communication is impossible. Nowadays, the world needs such specialists who will be able to enter into intercultural communication by understanding the culture of a foreign country. For this reason, the article discusses the problem of teaching speaking skills in the context of intercultural communication. The authors also showed a model of intercultural communicative competence. In the practical part of the study, the author demonstrated several effective tasks for the development of speaking skills among students of language faculties. In our research work, we used such methods as theoretical analysis of literature, pedagogical observation, experiment, and statistical data analysis. This paper describes an interpretive framework that is based on an integrated conceptual framework for intercultural communication as the focal point to understand the interconnectivity between social categories and intercultural interactions. Intercultural communication is communication between individuals who are culturally distinct. While a wide range of intercultural communication studies can be found in various literatures, none has offered an integrated conceptual framework to study intercultural interactions in a Malaysian context. There is a gap on an interpretive approach as a framework to support its data analysis and meaningful claims, particularly in multicultural and multilingual Malaysia. Thus, this paper offers an integrated conceptual framework based on intercultural communication, language and intercultural communication, social identity theory, and identity and interaction, to address face-to-face interactions between culturally diverse individuals. Besides adding on to the body of knowledge in intercultural communication, this paper assumes an impetus for approaching interdisciplinary future research in various intercultural interaction settings.

In today’s globalised world, the development of Intercultural Communicative Competence is at the forefront of English Language Teaching, since it enhances students’ effective language learning as well as encourages them to gain a better and broader understanding not only of their own world, but also of the world around them. However, literature review on this topic is quite limited as regards early English language learning. Therefore, the aim of this systematic review is to provide insight on the teaching practices, techniques and learning activities employed by English language teachers in early English language learning so as to integrate the intercultural dimension in their lessons and develop their learners’ intercultural communicative competence. Data was collected from three databases Scopus, Eric, Elsevier and Google Scholar, based on predefined criteria. Findings indicate that various teaching methods, techniques and learning activities, popular in ELT, can be adapted to promote intercultural learning in early English language teaching. Moreover, online learning along with the use of different web tools and platforms, set a positive learning environment for successful intercultural interactions among culturally and linguistically diverse learners.

The intercultural communication competence of higher education international students is critical in the multiple culture environment. Understanding how international students improve their intercultural communication competence is vital for providing effective training and teaching in higher education. However, there is a lack of systematic literature reviews on this topic, especially in quantitative methods. This study was dedicated to performing an exhaustive review of existing literature following the PRISMA-SCR guidelines. The findings revealed the absence of a consistent definition and measurement framework for ICC, which complicates the synthesis of research findings and the development of effective educational strategies. The implications of these findings are substantial for educational practices and policy development. They point towards the necessity of creating inclusive and empirically grounded ICC training programs, integrating ICC into international education policies, and providing comprehensive support for the cultural adaptation of international students.

Although various aspects of intercultural communication have been addressed in the works of various authors, there is still a lack of works that describe intercultural communication from the new viewpoint – in terms of effective intercultural business interaction, theoretical analysis of models of the classification of cultures, and combination of theoretical and practical insights in overcoming the obstacles of intercultural interaction. There is also a lack of works that highlight creativity as an integral part of cross-cultural business communication. In the belief of the author of the article, without a close synthesis of these aspects, it is impossible to understand in detail the meaning of effective intercultural business interaction. Purpose of the article – to analyse theoretical and practical aspects of effective cross-cultural business communication based on creativity. In the article, through the use of the models of the classification of cultures of various researchers from around the world (Richard R. Gesteland, Edward T. Hall, Richard D. Lewis, Geert Hofstede, Gert Jan Hofstede, Michael Minkov, Shalom H. Schwartz), the aspects of multiculturalism in the context of intercultural business interaction are highlighted. The work analyses creativity as an integral part of effective cross-cultural business communication. The publication also describes the barriers in the intercultural interaction and ways to overcome it. Research methods used in the work: systematic, comparative, logical analysis and synthesis of scientific literature.

Abstract:
Hate speech has become a key element of contemporary political discourse. It has also changed the very structure of communication. With the access to public sphere provided by social media, hate speech engages people in connective action, which allows it to construct and deconstruct collective identity. By doing this, hate speech undermines the idea of multicultural society. In order to succeed, such a society needs to engage its members in inclusive intercultural dialogue while hate speech strongly excludes all dissident voices, deepening political polarisation. This article presents an extensive analysis of hate speech from the perspective of intercultural communication. Drawing from available research and literature, the author puts forward the thesis that hate speech is a communicative phenomenon that not only disrupts intercultural dialogue, but also leads to the disintegration of multicultural society.

Abstract Current times call for continuous communication across countries, negotiations on several levels, and the creation of international relationships based on dialogue and participation. Those ideals are often pursued in intercultural communication contexts and written about, as a desideratum, in the Intercultural Communication literature. However, how can this be achieved concretely? In this article, we analyze how decisions are taken by newly founded intercultural teams of higher-education students playing a so-called intercultural game online via Zoom. The game revolves around the creation of a development plan for a fictitious city. In our study, we conducted a conversation-analytic investigation of decision-making processes by players oriented towards the ideal of ‘intercultural speakers’ as the ones mediating between different points of view and giving voice to all parties in an inclusive way. We illustrate our analysis with examples that range from unilateral decision making to decisions achieved through highly collaborative processes. We point to how expectations of inclusion-oriented interactional moves in intercultural situations are sometimes at odds with how these interactions and the related decision-making processes actually unfold.

This study's objectives explored two prominent cases: (1) the forms of stereotype in Literature Faculty and (2) how the influence of stereotype in intercultural communication toward the students of Literature Faculty. This study applied qualitative research, which explored the stereotype and intercultural communication toward Literature Faculty students. The researcher applied purposive sampling to gain data. There were 15 students participated as the participant, and the data were obtained through interviews. This study shows that stereotypes in Literature Faculty were stereotypes towards Makassar Ethnicity (Rudely) and stereotypes towards Buginese (Uang Panaik it is too expensive). Even though the students learned many negative stereotypes toward Makassarese and Buginese, most students were not affected by these negative stereotypes. The students chose to trust personal experience and establish effective communication with Makassarese and Buginese, which eventually eliminated negative stereotypes towards the Makassarese and Buginese groups.

Globalization makes the interaction between cultures, different ethnics, national background are inevitable. The competency to communicate across these cultures is crucial more than ever. The purpose of this article is to develop hypotheses regarding the relationships between the cognitive, affective, and behavioral factors in order to explore how these three components affect an individual's intercultural communication competence (ICC). The research is based on online literature sources such as Google Scholar, Mendeley, and other academic online platforms. The research method utilized is library research, utilizing e-books and open-access e-journals. The analysis conducted is qualitative and descriptive. The findings of this article are as follows: 1) Cognitive factors have an influence on intercultural communication competence; 2) Affective factors have an influence on intercultural communication competence; and 3) Behavioral factors have an influence on intercultural communication competence. However this research does not suggest those three components as only factors for ICC and should not be perceived as the exclusive determinants.

With the opening and integration of our country, we have attracted many investors from various fields all around the world such as economy, society and so on, leading to the development of many changes in life, language and culture in Vietnamese communication. So "some issues of research and intercultural communication development curriculum at Sai Gon University in the integration period” is a topic that has important value in communication and this topic is worthy to be paid attention for carrying out a research. However, due to the limitation of the article, we only discuss the issues of research and develop an intercultural communication curriculum in the training of the Master's program in Linguistics at Sai Gon University, Viet Nam. To accomplish this topic, a mix of methods will be employed, including surveying, listing and describing to clarify the issues of communication and intercultural communication in the conditions of the current country. Since then, we offer applications in teaching activities and curriculum development on issues that are closely related to communication, intercultural communication and linguistic in the development and integration period in Viet Nam.
