Abstract:
This thesis was conducted in collaboration with Signal Processing (SP) Devices Sweden AB. SP Devices provides digital signal processing solutions for the enhancement of analogue to digital conversion (ADC). Their ADCs facilitate the development of products for Communications, Radio base stations, Radar, Signals intelligence and Test & Measurement. The ADQ series digitizers, from SP Devices, are portable high performance digitizers which incorporate one or more analog inputs, an on-board double data rate (DDR2) memory and USB or PXI Express interface. DDR2 refers to the ability of a computer bus to transfer data on both the rising and falling edges of a clock signal. The ADCaptureLab software is a graphical user interface used to control this digitizer. ADCaptureLab, designed in the C/C++ programming language, is an easy-to-use standalone program which allows for configuration and operation of all ADQ series digitizers from SP Devices. The use of the LabView program from National Instruments forms the backbone of this thesis. LabVIEW (short for Laboratory Virtual Instrumentation Engineering Workbench) is a platform and development environment for a visual programming language from National Instruments. The topic of this thesis was to reproduce the ADCaptureLab user interface using LabView instead of C/C++. The graphical user interface (GUI) developed in LabView should be able to communicate with and control the processing of the ADQ214 digitizer (the digitizer model provided to us) in the same way as the ADCaptureLab. This would involve not only the data capturing and visualization but also digitizer configurations, monitoring of the device and ADQ functions and the analyses of acquired signal and FFT. In order to implement the configuration settings we developed functions for trigger settings (conditions at which a trigger will occur), Analogue Front End settings (AC/DC coupling), clock settings (sets the clock source), data type settings (set sample format), gain and offset setting (sets amplitude gain and mean value), pre-trigger settings (size of pre-trigger buffer), trigger hold off settings ( number of samples to wait for acquiring data after trigger), data acquisition length settings (Length of the acquired signal), continuous and single batch data acquisition, FFT transformation, save, load , and “clear plots” control (resets graph indicators). The functioning of our device may be monitored through the “Status window” (displays connection status of the ADQ device), “Devices window” (displays product information about the ADQ device), “Device monitor window” (returns the status of ADQ-API functions used) and the “Device information window” (returns information related to the revision of the ADQ device). Analyzing the acquired data and its corresponding FFT is made simple with the “Signal Properties” window (displays analyzed data), “Mark Harmonics” control (marks harmonics in the FFT) and the “Mark Signal Props” control (marks the fundamental tone and highest distortion in the FFT). Our LabVIEW GUI efficiently incorporates the features described above. In addition to being able to communicate instructions to the ADQ214 device we are able to monitor its condition and analyze any output. This result serves to show that it is possible to develop a program such as ADCaptureLab in LabVIEW.

This work aims to develop a LabVIEW interface for monitoring, controlling and automate the simultaneous experimental determination of one adsorption isotherm of gas in two distinct solid adsorbents. The magnetic suspension balance has two samples and this way it’s possible to determinate, simultaneously, the equilibrium adsorption for two different adsorbents. The developed software allows the registration of weight values and the control of the state of the balance, which has three main positions (ZP, MP1 and MP2). To determine a isotherm point is necessary for the system to reach the equilibrium. The software records the different values of ZP, MP1 and MP2, calculating the adsorbed mass values for each of the adsorbents. When the average of the adsorbed masses remain constant, the pressure value is changed and is possible to proceed with the determination of a new point isotherm. The software was developed in LabVIEW utilizing a software previously developed for a balance with only one sample. The old software was built using just one interface, which made the process of changing routines and new programming interfaces complicated. It was developed a sketch of a new software, now built in five separate blocks . To validate the interface for monitoring the magnetic balance, multiple tests were conducted at the installation, in order to confirm that the interface gets accurate results. The tests measured adsorption isotherms for CO2 in two simultaneous adsorbents, MIL-53(Al) and Zeolite 5A at different temperatures: 30 °C, 50 °C and 80 °C. From the results, it can be confirmed that the developed interface is acquiring the values of the weight correctly and applying well the correction of the zero point, allowing the user to simplify the process of determining adsorption isotherms.

Abstract:

This report is the result of a diploma work made at IMT at US in Linköping. The purpose of this piece of work is to investigate the possibility to design a general program for data-acquisition using LabVIEW, suiting different hardwares and connections. Great importance has been attached to communication with serialport, using bluetooth, because different wireless PPG-instruments has been developed parallel to this project. These PPG-circuits uses this type of serialcommunication. Communication with USB, GPIB and analog connection has also been examined and analog communication has been tested practically. But any serious implementation of these types in the LabVIEW-program has not been made.The paper starts with theory where LabVIEW, bluetooth, PPG, different connections and the different PPG-sensors is described concisely. Theory is followed by a"performance-part"where the course of action and the LabVIEW- program is described.The result of the work is an application in LabVIEW for communication with different PPG-sensors, where interface, protocol and file-standard/format has been designed. The program is adapted to prolonged measurements with full duplex. Measurements can be saved into ascii- or binary format, and signals can be studied carefully in graphs.Since only one PPG-sensor is fully made, a test in measurement and acquisition has been made with that sensor only. Ragarding the other PPG-instruments, the communication has been tested in hyperterminal.

Nos dias de hoje, a preocupação pela escassez de energias fósseis, bem como o seu impacto sobre o meio ambiente, faz com que a geração de energia eléctrica através de energias renováveis seja encarada como uma forte alternativa aos combustíveis fósseis. As energias apelidadas de renováveis são as energias provenientes de fontes naturais como o Sol e o Vento. Esta dissertação tem o objectivo de implementar um sistema de monitorização e registo de dados eléctricos de um parque de energias renováveis, constituído por painéis fotovoltaicos de diferentes tecnologias e um gerador eólico, através de um sistema SCADA. Os dados eléctricos dos sistemas de geração são medidos por transdutores, que farão o condicionamento do sinal de forma a permitirem que os dados sejam lidos pelas placas de aquisição. As placas de aquisição, juntamente com o Labview, fazem a leitura, o tratamento dos dados e a sua transferência para o servidor OPC, que disponibilizará os dados ao sistema SCADA; ABSTRACT:Nowadays, the concern about the scarcity of fossil fuels, as well as its effect over the environment, is leading to the generation of electric energy from renewable energies being recognized as a good alternative to fossil fuels into. The renewable energies are provided from natural sources such as Sun and Wind. This dissertation aims to implement a control and monitoring system with data record from a renewable energies park, constituting of photovoltaic modules and a wind generator. The electric data is measured by transducers which process them, allowing them to be read by data acquisition devices. The data acquisition devices managed by Labview read the electric signals and the data is transferred to the OPC server, which serves the SCADA system.

Their flexibility, low cost, and high performance have made it burst into the market with results that exceeded many expectations. National Instruments offers several software and hardware that integrate FPGA systems in their design and implementation. In this thesis work, a NI FPGA system is used along with LabVIEW myRIO 2014 software to run a graphical FPGA code, hence, identifying best practices that must be associated with using the software and the hardware of National Instruments FPGA interfaces and also compare different methods for programming, communication, and data conversion of the FPGA interfaces.

Abstract:

Acreo AB has developed a radar prototype used for illustrate how the SiGe technology could be used. The radar prototype needs further development with a fast interface and a more integrated design. The beginning of the report describes the radar technique theory and the composing equations. The theoretical background is used to explain each component of the system. The report continues by specifying the target of the next radar prototype. The chosen implementation is motivated and the mode of procedure is described in detail. Test benches were used to verify correct functionality and some limits were found. The report is concluded with test results and recommendations on further enhancements.

Rapporten inleds med att beskriva radarteknikens funktionalitet och de utgörande ekvationerna. Den teoretiska bakgrunden används för att förklara varje komponent som systemet utgörs av. Rapporten fortsätter med att specificera målet med nästa radarprototyp. Den valda implementationen motiveras och tillvägagångssättet beskrivs detaljerat. This thesis is part of the on going work at BTH (Blekinge Technical University) to develop a remote lab for Sound and Vibration Experiments. The aim of this undertaking is to develop a Spectrum Analyzer that can simultaneously take inputs from 10 sensors and be able to measure the Power Spectral Density, Cross correlation, Frequency Response Functions (FRF) and coherence. The Interface and analysis algorithms are developed inLabview programming language. The thesis starts by introducing the overall aim of the project and its scope, the place of this particular thesis in the whole picture and the algorithms used for analysis are introduced. In the second part of the thesis the development of the software is explained and the main aim is to thoroughly document the software. This part of the thesis explains Labview programming concepts in detail to make it easier for other students who want to undertake theses to continue this work and who may not have experience of Labview programming.Two versions of the spectrum analyzer were developed. The third part explains theexperimental set up and results obtained and compares measurements to those obtained using other spectrum analyzers. An accurate Spectrum Analyzer Virtual Instrument has been developed and tested during this thesis project and it can be used as a component of the proposed Sound and vibration analysis laboratory and also for general Spectral Analysis tasks.

A procura de soluções de baixo custo é hoje em dia, uma exigência quando se fala em aquisição de equipamentos para empresas e instituições. Essa procura torna-se ainda mais premente quando as soluções disponíveis comercialmente são demasiado caras e não traduzem por completo os objectivos para as quais se destinam. Com o trabalho desenvolvido nesta tese de Mestrado pretendeu-se criar uma versão low cost de um sistema de medição de deformações em estruturas, para ser utilizado pelo laboratório de Engenharia Civil da Universidade da Madeira. Fazendo uso da filosofia low cost utilizada para o desenvolvimento do sistema de medição, utilizou-se um Arduíno Duemilanove como plataforma de interface com o LabVIEW, em detrimento das dispendiosas placas de aquisição de dados. De forma a tornar o sistema de medição funcionalmente mais completo, e aproveitando-se a interface criada, bem como os deflectómetros digitais pertencentes à instituição, criou-se um sistema de medição personalizado que consegue medir simultaneamente os dados de três extensómetros e os valores medidos por dois deflectómetros. Foram efectuados diversos testes no equipamento desenvolvido, permitindo não só a calibração do mesmo, mas também um estudo das suas capacidades e limitações. Por fim, e de forma a demonstrar a versatilidade da interface criada, procedeu-se a um teste final onde foi possível verificar-se que era possível obter-se uma taxa de amostragem de cerca de 408,3Hz, caso o sistema fosse utilizado para a aquisição de um só valor de tensão analógico.

Abstract:
L’elaborato si basa sulla realizzazione di un sistema di rilevazione sincrona per misure di resistenza elettrica con metodo a quattro terminali. L’obbiettivo, utile alla caratterizzazione di materiali superconduttivi, è quello di misurare la dipendenza tra resistività elettrica e temperatura del campione. L’apparato si suddivide in un sistema di controllo della temperatura e un sistema di acquisizione dotato di amplificatore lock-in digitale. Gli amplificatori lock-in sono strumenti usati per il recupero di segnali laddove il contributo del rumore di fondo risulta essere preponderante rispetto al segnale d’interesse. L’acquisizione e conversione del segnale analogico viene svolta da una scheda Digilent Analog Discovery 2, il segnale digitalizzato viene elaborato da un amplificatore lock-in digitale. Quest’ultimo è stato sviluppato ad hoc in ambiente labVIEW, ricoprendo un ruolo fondamentale nel lavoro presentato. Il sistema di controllo della temperatura comprende un impianto criogenico e un sistema di riscaldamento (con circuito di retroazione PID). I test svolti per definire le performance del sistema di acquisizione hanno rivelato una riserva dinamica stimata di 82 dB ed un segnale minimo misurabile di 200 nV (con un errore del 5%). Successivamente l’apparato è stato utilizzato per caratterizzare due campioni superconduttori appartenenti rispettivamente alla famiglia dei cuprati e a quella dei ferro-pnictidi. L’apparato è in grado di misurare valori di resistenza con una sensibilità di 200 nV/I (dipende dalla corrente fornita al campione e misurata in Ampere), realizzando un grafico di dipendenza R vs T con 0,05 K di risoluzione. Le temperature critiche misurate per i due campioni sono in accordo con i valori trovati in letteratura. Il lock-in illustrato in questa tesi presenta possibili applicazioni a scopo educativo o di ricerca, qualora le performance richieste per la misura rientrino in quelle descritte precedentemente.

A real-time computer cRIO-9073 supplied by National Instruments, together with the software tool LabVIEW is a versatile system used in many fields, for both research and practical tasks. This thesis deals with the possibilities of the system. It is aimed primarily at performance testing, identifying potential limitations and showing its practical use. The whole system has undergone testing through the use of programs covering the wide spectrum of utilisation. cRIO also allows the use of other software tools in its programming. This thesis explores the options of using Matlab/Simulink from MathWorks and the generation of VHDL code using a product of Xilinx. The aim is to compare the demands on the resources consumed, by the Field-programmable gate array (FPGA) in cRIO as well as the CPU load running the Real-time process.

Abstract:
Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a high resolution medical imaging technique based on distinguishing tissues according to their nuclear magnetic properties. Magnetic resonance electrical impedance tomography (MREIT) is a conductivity imaging technique which reconstructs images of electrical properties, based on their effect on induced magnetic flux density due to externally applied current flow. Both of these techniques are of interest for novel research and development. Simulators help researchers observe the accuracy and the results of the study. In this study a user friendly complete MRI/MREIT simulator is designed. This simulator is the combination of improved version of MRI simulator (implemented by V. E. Arpinar, H. Yigitler), a forward solver, to observe the current injection effect, the improved version of user interface that is designed on LabVIEW graphical programming environment (designed by M. Ozsut), and equi-potential projection (EPP) reconstruction algorithm (proposed by M. S. Ozdemir, M. Eyuboglu, O. Ozbek). All of these individual parts are improved and gathered in LabVIEW environment in order to work in synchrony. In addition to that, regional image reconstruction technique (proposed by H. Altunel, M. Eyuboglu) is also included in the simulator. The simulator is run for various inputs and system specifications. It is observed that the simulation results are consistent with the expected results for MRI, MREIT and conventional/regional MREIT reconstruction. Four different models are designed and results are obtained using these models. The accuracy of the results usually differs with the input parameters and model geometry. Validating numerically the accuracy of the forward solution part using Biot-Savart and Ampere'
s laws, the consistency of the forward problem solution part is obtained at a percentage of 95%. In the MREIT part, magnetic flux density distribution taken from forward solver part is added to the main magnetic flux density used in the MRI part. Consistency of the magnetic flux density distribution given to the simulator as input and the output taken from the MREIT part of the simulator is found as 99%. In addition to conventional EPP algorithm, regional MREIT reconstruction algorithm is applied for various noise levels. It is observed that, as the noise level increases, regional MREIT reconstruction algorithm gives relatively much better results compared to conventional MREIT reconstruction algorithm. Errors obtained by applying conventional reconstruction and regional reconstruction are compared for each inhomogeneity individually. Therefore, accuracies of the different current patterns depending on the inhomogeneities are observed as well.

This dissertation thesis is focused on the problem of the Automatic Tool Change for milling centers, which is recently shown as a very current topic. The content of this work is to conduct a comprehensive research of various types of ATC depending on the type of machine, as well as research of the current tool interface relating closely with these problems. There was made a comprehensive analysis on the basis of data obtained by comprehensive research, from which both the main factors affecting this topic and the area dealed and developed by this work resulted. The most problematic area of machinery used nowdays for the Atomatic Tool Change was detected as manipulator provided the exchange between spindle and tool storage. Kinematic structure and design of individual elements affects very significantly the dynamics of the whole process of exchange of tools. Therefore, the work is focused on problematic of the manipulator. The main results of this thesis are constructional design of several types of manipulators, which were partly realized within the project 1.2.4 of Brno department of RCMT in the form of the testing stands. There was developed simulation models for selected types of manipulators which were verificated by measuring on the real stand. On the basis of abovementioned problem there was identified another key issue related not only to the exchange process but also with complex problem of service life of spindle. It is a grab force in the process of picking tools. The work outlines the possibilities for further research of these forces on the service file of spindle (especially on service life of bering groups of spindle).

A measurement system is to be presented, which is used to obtain the I-V characteristics of a solar cell and to track its temperature during irra-diation before mounting it into a complete array/module. This project presents both the design and implementation of an Electronic load for testing the solar cell under field conditions of 10000 W/m^2, which is able to provide current versus voltage and power versus voltage charac-teristics of a solar cell using a software based model developed in Lab-VIEW. An efficient water cooling method which includes a heat pipe array system is also suggested. This thesis presents the maximum power tracking of a solar cell and the corresponding voltage and current values. This diploma thesis deals with creation of elektromechanical model in Modelica language which is subsequently imported into LabVIEW environment. The Modelica language, LabVIEW graphical programming tool and Functional Mock-up Interface 2.0 standard are described in the introduction of this thesis. Functional Mock-up Interface is a tool independent standard witch, defines a standardized interface to ModelExchange and Co-simulation of complex system components. The model of electromechanical system was created based on Functional Mock-up Interface standard. Part of the work focuses on the Functional Mock-up Unit storage possibilities and LabVIEW support to import models of this type. The imported model was simulated and tested in this environment. Finally, the instance of Functional Mock-up Unit was connected with LabVIEW FPGA target for the purpose of model HIL simulation on CompactRIO platform.

Abstract:

Examensarbetet syftar till att jämföra nya alternativ till olika system för användning i laborationer i reglerteknikkurser för olika studentkategorier. Det skall utredas vilket av ett antal alternativ till mjukvaruplattformar som är bäst lämpat att användas vid reglerteknikundervisningen i ITN:s reglerlaboratorium vid Linköpings universitet. Tidigare laborationer i berörda kurser skall även modifieras så att dessa kan genomföras i de nya systemen.

Examensarbetet resulterade i en rad modifierade laborationer och system att tillämpa i dessa. De nya systemen medför att all reglering sköts direkt från en dator istället för tidigare variant med externa apparater som programmeras. På så sätt kan större fokus läggas på regleringen i sig och inte de system som tillämpas för att utföra den.


The purpose of this thesis work is to compare new alternatives for different systems to use in laborations, in courses offered in control system design, for different types of students. The intention is to investigate which of a number of software platform alternatives are best suited for these purposes. Current laborations are to be modified to be viable in the new systems.

The project resulted in a number of modified laborations and control systems to use in these. The new solutions are made so that all of the control is done by one computer, as opposed to the previous solution where external units had to be programmed and controlled. This way, the laborations can focus more on the control theory and less on the systems used to realize it.

O processo de consolidação do SISGEA (Sistema de Guerra Eletrônica da Aeronáutica) levou à aquisição do Lab-Volt Radar Training System para suas instituições de ensino técnico-operacional. Este sistema é capaz de implementar em laboratório um ambiente eletromagnético para estudos de Guerra Eletrônica composto por radar de alta resolução operando na banda X, alvos passivos (Target Positioning System) e ativos (Radar Jamming Pod). A experiência adquirida com o seu uso permitiu vislumbrar o potencial didático de sua operação integrada com ferramentas de Instrumentação Virtual. O objetivo deste trabalho foi estender as possibilidades de emprego deste equipamento como ferramenta de ensino e pesquisa através de sua integração em um sistema empregando instrumentos programáveis através do barramento GPIB e porta serial. Para atingir este objetivo foram necessárias a análise do ensino prático de radar no modelo convencional para determinação das funcionalidades demandadas, o desenvolvimento de dispositivos de interfaceamento (hardware) e programas em Linguagem "G" empregando o LabVIEWTM (Instrumento Virtual - VI), bem como a aplicação das ferramentas desenvolvidas nas aulas práticas do Laboratório de Radar do Curso de Especialização em Análise de Ambiente Eletromagnético (CEAAE) do Instituto Tecnológico de Aeronáutica.

In recent ten years, LabVIEW has already widely used in the academic and industrial circle. The academia is usually aided by LabVIEW for instrument measurement and research intension. The industrial circle promotes the additional value of the products by the inclusion of LabVIEW and improves industry''s competitiveness. Due to the reference books published by many authors only introduce part of the interface application, it can’t satisfy the requirement of the users. Therefore, it is helpless to the popularization of LabVIEW. To widely study the interface application of LabVIEW, this thesis introduces the design and programming techniques of five different interfaces. These interfaces include data acquisition device, dsPIC digital signal controller, programming logic controller, serial/parallel communication port, and Bluetooth wireless communication. The experiment results have verified that the proposed interface design can successfully communicate with LabVIEW and can offer valuable references for academic and industrial circle to construct the man-machine interface.

This thesis proposes to analyze and process the signals transmitted in real time, such as using the radar system to measure the distance , speed of object measurement, etc., and then use the human-machine interface (LabVIEW) to filter the signals and display them on the computer screen. Users can get their relevant data, which uses the Arduino's signal to perform preliminary analog-to-digital converster, and uses the relevant Bluetooth module to transfer to LabVIEW in the computer. The signals display in time domain and frequency domain to show different frequency. The signal that has been processed by the analog-to-digital converster is displayed with different frequency signals in the time domain and the frequency domain, respectively, and in this paper, the human life signs are used as the measurement target, because the human body will still produce the fluctuation of breathing and heartbeat even when it is at rest, and the measuring signal will transmitt the measurement signal through the Bluetooth of the Arduino. The wireless transmission method can reach and display at a certain distance with Bluetooth. Finally, the results of different materials and spectrum versus time are presented to prove the stability of the measurement capability and measurement capability of this design architecture.

Esta tese, desenvolvida no âmbito da unidade curricular de Projeto do Mestrado em Engenharia Mecânica do Departamento de Engenharia Mecânica (DEM) do Instituto Superior de Engenharia de Coimbra (ISEC), tem como objetivo o estudo, desenvolvimento e implementação de uma possível solução para um problema específico com que as instituições de ensino superior de engenharia se deparam atualmente: o de fornecer aos alunos experiências e exemplos práticos estando ao mesmo tempo limitados pela natureza finita de recursos materiais, nomeadamente ao nível de equipamentos laboratoriais. Uma resposta viável para o problema descrito baseia-se na utilização de um software–Laboratory Virtual Instrument Engineering Workbench (LabVIEW) – que permite a simulação virtual de equipamentos reais existentes em laboratório. A tese divide-se em duas partes. Na primeira parte descreve-se o desenvolvimento e implementação de um sistema híbrido Arduíno/LabVIEW através de uma plataforma de prototipagem electrónica open-source – placa Arduíno – recorrendo a sensores já existentes no sistema de controlo de processos. A combinação do LabVIEW com a placa Arduíno permitirá a visualização dos dados adquiridos bem como a sua utilização como forma de controlar processos. Na segunda parte será efetuada a simulação virtual, recorrendo ao LabVIEW, de um exercício didáctico associado a um sistema de controlo de processos.

Switched reluctance motor is a doubly salient motor, no rotor coil, no permanent magnets, uncomplicated structure,cost-effective and high efficiency characteristics.However, its highly non-linear characteristics of the magnetic, resulting in a large torque ripple and noise, severely limited the application in the industry. Thereby, it is inspiring the motivation in this paper. In this article, the firmware architecture was developed named by Arduino Mega 2560, which is an open-source (user can do any changes according to their needs) of the platform.User writing programs in the Arduino IDE interface , from Java Concepts ( C language) for development environment, This platform can be combined with LabVIEW, which provides graphical interface, and can be used to replace the high-priced data acquisition system, even can’t waste of I/O resources, and support for wireless communication thus achieve the switched reluctance motor speed control and data acquisition. In motor performance, compared to traditional switched reluctance motor full-load efficiency of about 40 to 50 percent, this paper based on a vector control ,like control a DC motor way to modulate the phase currents, the result at the time of 3000 rpm, efficiency of about 66% can be achieved.

This study applies LabVIEW virtual instrumentation software to angle adjustable beds for use in medical research. The control via traditional mechanical buttons is replaced by graphic user interfaces to improve the mode of operational control for the adjustable bed. The control interfaces established by this study include those for computers and smart tablets. The control interface on computers includes two types of operational interface: individual and fixed posture; the smart tablet uses individual operational interface. This study applies BIOPAC MP150 physiological signal measuring instruments to measure EMG and AcgKnowledge software to calculate EMG’s P-, QRS- and T-waves, using R-wave as PPG. When PPG reaches the abnormal range, BIOPAC MP150 will send a signal to the control interface, and the control interface on the computers or tablets will send warning signals to the operators in order to reduce the patients’ risk while using a medical angle adjustable bed.

Die dynamische Datenerfassung war schon immer das Herzstück jeder Schwingungsmessung. In this thesis, the LabVIEW graphical development software and Internet are utilized to design the human-computer interface for power-demand monitoring and control system. The TCP/IP, digital Kilo-Watt meter, RS-232, RS-485, programmable logic controller (PLC), industrial human-machine interface, and Modbus communication protocol, etc., has been combined together for the purpose of calculating the power demand and automatic load shedding via PID control. In addition to monitor data and set up parameters through the human-computer interface at the scene, via Internet and real-time power data acquisition, the system can be connected to the remote computers. Then the general software package can be adopted for the demand management, demand control and demand curve analysis. Furthermore, it also has the functions of different options display and data record to make the interface easy-to-use and operation user friendly. Therefore, the various enterprises can master the power consuming situation at any time and avoiding being fined because of surmounting the contract capacity. That is, the purpose of electrical charge saving is achieved. The human-computer interface for power-demand monitoring and control system designed in this thesis, it can be easily to install through the computer executable program to supervise and control one’s own power consumption in any location with Internet. When power system appears abnormal power consumption phenomenon, the operators can immediately manipulate to decrease the dispensable electrical charge and system stability and reliability will be increased. Thus, the installation possibility of small and medium enterprises will be increased that will be promoted the market demand and relaxed Taipower electricity shortage during peak hours.

Abstract:
With the increasing demand of water and underwater exploration, more and more electric unmanned surface vehicles (USV) are put into use in recent years. However, because of the present battery technology limits, these devices require to be recharged frequently that is a challenging problem taking into account the complex water environment where these equipments are acting. To improve safety and convenience of USV charging a wireless power transfer (WPT) system is proposed in this dissertation. In this case, the boat can be controlled to go to the charging facilities. During charging by the implemented WPT system, the state of charging can be remotely monitored by host computer. The moving control is based on embedded system. The relative position between transmitting coil and receiving coil is supposed to be sensed by magnetic sensor, since the relative position has great impact on transmission efficiency. The remote monitoring software was implemented in the host computer and was developed in LABVIEW. A graphical user interface was developed to control the boat moving and collect the data from the WPT and the boat sensors. The effectiveness of the proposed system was tested for instance in the laboratory environment and in-field tests are also planned in the near future.
Com a crescente procura da exploração em ambientes aquáticos e subaquáticos , os veículos elétricos de superfície não tripulados ("electric unmanned surface vehicle" -USV) têm sido cada vez mais utilizados nestes últimos anos. No entanto, devido aos limites atuais relacionados com a tecnologia utilizada nas baterias, os dispositivos precisam de ser recarregados com frequência para poderem operar num ambiente aquático complexo. Para melhorar a segurança e a conveniência do carregamento da bateria de um USV, um sistema para recarregamento da bateria de um barco não tripulado através de transferência de energia sem fios("wireless power transfer" - WPT) é proposto nesta dissertação. Neste caso de estudo, o barco tem a capacidade de ser controlado para chegar a um ponto de recarregamento da bateria, que se encontra fixado por uma doca mecânica. Enquanto o sistema WPT érecarregado, os dados associados ao processo de recarregamento da bateria podem ser monitorizados por um computador host. O controlo da movimentação do barco é baseado num sistema embebido. A posição relativa entre a bobina transmissora e a bobina receptora deve ser detectada pelo sensor magnético, uma vez que a posição relativa tem um grande impacto na eficiência da transmissão. Em termos do computador host, foi utilizado o software LABVIEW para programar a interface que permite controlar o movimento do barco e recolher os dados. Finalmente, a eficácia do sistema proposto foi experimentada e testada num ambiente de laboratório.

Σκοπός της παρούσας διπλωματικής εργασίας είναι η δημιουργία συστήματος που θα διευρύνει τις δυνατότητες των εξ’ αποστάσεως εργαστηρίων προσανατολισμένα σε θέματα ψηφιακής επεξεργασίας σήματος και εικόνας. Η υλοποίηση πραγματοποιήθηκε με το LabVIEW v 8.6 και ονομάστηκε R-DSP Server. Αξιοποιώντας τις δυνατότητες που προσφέρει ο R-DSP Server οι χρήστες μπορούν να αναπτύξουν τα δικά τους γραφικά περιβάλλοντα (Graphical User Interfaces -GUIs) τα οποία ονομάζονται προσαρμοζόμενα γραφικά περιβάλλοντα (Customized GUIs,) για τον απομακρυσμένο έλεγχο DSP εφαρμογών. Για την εύκολη και γρήγορη ανάπτυξη τέτοιων γραφικών εφαρμογών στο περιβάλλων του LabVIEW, αναπτύχθηκε μια σειρά εργαλείων που ονομάστηκε R-DSP LabVIEW Toolkit. Η εργασία ολοκληρώνεται με την παρουσίαση της λειτουργιάς του R-DSP Server αλλά και της χρήσης του R-DSP Toolkit.
The purpose of this work is to present an approach which could expand the features of Remote Laboratories focused on embedded Digital Signal Processing (DSP) systems. The proposed approach is based on a system which is designed and developed with LabVIEW and is called R-DSP Server. Exploiting this system, users are able to develop their own Graphical User Interfaces (GUIs), named Customized GUIs, for the remote control and validation of real-time DSP applications. These GUIs are tailored to the needs of each DSP application and can be implemented in any programming language. The rapid design of Customized GUIs using LabVIEW for the communication with the R-DSP Server is achieved using an implemented set of functions, called R-DSP LabVIEW Toolkit.
