Zhou, Fang, Xiang He, Yongbo Yuan, and Mingyuan Zhang. "Influence of Interlink Topology on Multilayer Network Robustness." Sustainability 12, no. 3 (February 7, 2020): 1202. http://dx.doi.org/10.3390/su12031202.

Full text
Abstract:
Cascading failures between interdependent multilayer networks are being widely studied, especially the trend of robustness caused by the interlinks between networks. However, few researchers pay attention to the effect of the interlink topology on the robustness of coupled networks, which is a critical interlink factor of multilayer networks. In this study, the method frame of multilayer network experiment simulation is given. Through numerical simulation and actual network simulation, the exhaustive method is used to enumerate all the patterns of interlink topological relations of multilayer networks (three-layer or more). The research verifies that the interlink topology affects the global robustness and that there exists a fragile interlink pattern in the patterns of interlink topologies. The star-like interlink pattern with the most uneven interlink-degree distribution leads to the weakest robustness; the pattern with average interlink-degree distribution reveals good global stability as a loop-like pattern or entire interlink pattern. In addition, the influence of interlink topology is independent. The simulation results are not affected by the network layer number and intraparameters (including the network-generated form, each layer of network node number, and average degree of each layer of network). Thus, ignoring the interlink topology may result in the actual system suddenly becoming vulnerable before the theoretical calculation point. Interlink topology as an independent factor affecting the robustness of multilayer networks should be paid more attention.

Full text
Abstract:
Artificial linking of two isolated culture dishes is a fascinating means of investigating interactions among multiple groups of microbes or fungi. We examined artificial interaction between two isolated dishes containing Euglena cells, which are photophobic to strong blue light. The spatial distribution of swimming Euglena cells in two micro-aquariums in the dishes was evaluated as a set of new measures: the trace momentums (TMs). The blue light patterns next irradiated onto each dish were deduced from the set of TMs using digital or analogue feedback algorithms. In the digital feedback experiment, one of two different pattern-formation rules was imposed on each feedback system. The resultant cell distribution patterns satisfied the two rules with an and operation, showing that cooperative interaction was realized in the interlink feedback. In the analogue experiment, two dishes A and B were interlinked by a feedback algorithm that illuminated dish A (B) with blue light of intensity proportional to the cell distribution in dish B (A). In this case, a distribution pattern and its reverse were autonomously formed in the two dishes. The autonomous formation of a pair of reversal patterns reflects a type of habitat separation realized by competitive interaction through the interlink feedback. According to this study, interlink feedback between two or more separate culture dishes enables artificial interactions between isolated microbial groups, and autonomous cellular distribution patterns will be achieved by correlating various microbial species, despite environmental and spatial scale incompatibilities. The optical interlink feedback is also useful for enhancing the performance of Euglena-based soft biocomputing.

Abstract:
Stress is a term that is commonly used today but has become increasingly difficult to define. It shares, to some extent, common meanings in both biological and psychological sciences. Stress typically describes a negative concept that can have an impact on one.s mental and physical well-being, but it is unclear what exactly defines stress and whether or not stress is a cause, an effect, or the process connecting the two. An interrelationship between stress and periodontal disease has been suspected for centuries, but evidence to explain the connection has only elucidated in the past few decades. The purpose of this review article is to provide the progression of evidence present in the field of stress and periodontal disease for dental professionals so that they can better understand the link between stress and periodontal diseases.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.3126/hren.v10i2.6579 Health Renaissance 2012; Vol 10 (No.2); 126-131

Abstract:
Recently, many Resource Description Framework (RDF) data generation tools have been developed to convert geospatial and non-geospatial data into RDF data. Furthermore, there are several interlinking frameworks that find semantically equivalent geospatial resources in related RDF data sources. However, many existing Linked Open Data sources are currently sparsely interlinked. Also, many RDF generation and interlinking frameworks require a solid knowledge of Semantic Web and Geospatial Semantic Web concepts to successfully deploy them. This article comparatively evaluates features and functionality of the current state-of-the-art geospatial RDF generation tools and interlinking frameworks. This evaluation is specifically performed for cultural heritage researchers and professionals who have limited expertise in computer programming. Hence, a set of criteria has been defined to facilitate the selection of tools and frameworks. In addition, the article provides a methodology to generate geospatial cultural heritage RDF data and to interlink it with the related RDF data. This methodology uses a CIDOC Conceptual Reference Model (CRM) ontology and interlinks the RDF data with DBpedia. Although this methodology has been developed for cultural heritage researchers and professionals, it may also be used by other domain professionals.

Abstract:
In this work, we establish a connection between the extended Prelle–Singer procedure and other widely used analytical methods to identify integrable systems in the case of n th-order nonlinear ordinary differential equations (ODEs). By synthesizing these methods, we bring out the interlink between Lie point symmetries, contact symmetries, λ-symmetries, adjoint symmetries, null forms, Darboux polynomials, integrating factors, the Jacobi last multiplier and generalized λ-symmetries corresponding to the n th-order ODEs. We also prove these interlinks with suitable examples. By exploiting these interconnections, the characteristic quantities associated with different methods can be deduced without solving the associated determining equations.

Abstract:
Travel and tourism in the world is a milestone for the global economy industry today. Tourism is currently standing strong in almost all countries as an industry in their respective countries, including Indonesia. One of the important tourism industry in the implementation of tourism is travel services as tourist facilities required to meet travel. One of the travel services required by tourists is a travel agency. Many travel agents established in the provinces where people often travel potentially that West Java especially in Bandung. In 2011 the number of places of business travels are in Bandung as many as 218. One of the largest travel agency in Bandung is PT. Interlink Tours and Travel. In terms of sales, PT. Interlink Tours and Travel rely more on domestic airline tickets customers in large numbers and repeatedly. In 2011 customers of PT. Interlink Tours and Travel have decreased loyalty. One way PT. Interlink Tours and Travel do to enhance customer loyalty to an airline ticket sales in accordance with the target is to provide quality service to customers with a focus on communication, credibility, security, competence and courtesy. In marketing this is called assurance. Assurance theory used is the theory of the Parasuraman in Ririn Tri Ratnasari (2011:109) and the theory of customer loyalty using the theory Baloglu (2002). The population in this study is the corporate customers of domestic airline tickets in PT. Interlink Tours and Travel Bandung. Sampling technique used is saturated sampling and data analysis technique used is multiple regression. Overview of research on assurance and customer loyalty is in a good position. The results showed simultaneous assurance effect on customer loyalty. However, partially only competence sub variables that influents the loyalty, while the other four sub variables, namely communication, credibility, security and courtesy are no effect on customer loyalty.

Abstract:
Multi-criteria decisions usually require measurement or evaluation of performance in different units and their mix by application of weighting factors. This approach lads to potential manipulation of the results as a direct consequence of the applied weightings. In this paper a mechanism that is the brain child of the authors, has been proposed to overcome this problem. It is known as the Interlink Decision Making Index (IDMI) and has all the desired features: simple, interlink (all criteria) and automatically guaranteed dominant influence of critical criteria (i.e. no human weighting needed). The IDMI is capable of reflecting the total merits of a particular option once the normal decision making criteria and (up to two) critical criteria have been chosen. Then, without arbitrarily weighting criteria, comparison and selection of the best possible option can be made. Simple software has been developed to do this numerical transfer and graphic presentation. Two hypothetical examples are presented in the paper to demonstrate the application of the IDMI concept and its advantages over the traditional "tabular and weightingmethod" in the decision making process.

Abstract:
Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), hypertension, and chronic kidney disease (CKD) are different entities and are generally managed individually most of the time. However, CKD, OSA, and hypertension share many common risk factors and it is not uncommon to see this complex triad together. In fact, they share similar pathophysiology and have been interlinked with each other. The common pathophysiology includes chronic volume overload, hyperaldosteronism, increased sympathetic activity, endothelial dysfunction, and increased inflammatory markers. The combination of this triad has significant negative impact on the cardiovascular health, and increases the mortality and morbidity in this complicated group of patients. On one hand, progression of CKD can lead to the worsening of OSA and hypertension; similarly, worsening sleep apnea can make the hypertension difficult to treat and enhance the progression of CKD. This review article highlights the bidirectional interlink among these apparently different disease processes which share common pathophysiological mechanisms and emphasizes the importance of treating them collectively to improve outcomes.

Abstract:
This article presents LinkZoo, a web-based, linked data enabled tool that supports collaborative management of information resources. LinkZoo addresses the modern needs of information-intensive collaboration environments to publish, manage, and share heterogeneous resources within user-driven contexts. Users create and manage diverse types of resources into common spaces such as files, web documents, people, datasets, and calendar events. They can interlink them, annotate them, and share them with other users, thus enabling collaborative editing, as well as enrich them with links to externally linked data resources. Resources are inherently modeled and published as resource description framework (RDF) and can be explicitly interlinked and dereferenced by external applications. LinkZoo supports creation of dynamic communities that enable web-based collaboration through resource sharing and annotating, exposing objects on the linked data Cloud under controlled vocabularies and permissions. The authors demonstrate the applicability of the tool on a popular collaboration use case scenario for sharing and organizing research resources.

Abstract:
Advances in neonatology led to survival of micro-preemies, who need central lines. Central line–associated bloodstream infection (CLABSI) causes prolonged hospitalization, morbidities, and mortality. Health care team education decreases CLABSIs. The objective was to decrease CLABSIs using evidence-based measures. The retrospective review compared CLABSI incidence during and after changes in catheter care. In April 2011, intravenous (IV) tubing changed from Interlink to Clearlink; IV tubing changing interval increased from 24 to 72 hours. CLABSIs increased. The following measures were implemented: July 2011, reeducation of neonatal intensive care staff on Clearlink; August 2011, IV tubing changing interval returned to 24 hours; September 2011, changed from Clearlink back to Interlink; November 2011, review of entire IV process and in-service on hand hygiene; December 2011, competencies on IV access for all nurses. CLABSIs were compared during and after interventions. Means were compared using the t test and ratios using the χ2 test; P <.05. CLABSIs decreased from 4.4/1000 to 0/1000 catheter-days; P < .05. Evidence-based interventions reduced CLABSIs.

Abstract:
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) consists of 26 agencies. Each agency is composed of branches that are spread across the KSA. Some have the authority to strategically attract and hire people. Most agencies and branches do not interchange data with each other. People who want to apply to a university for study or to the public government for work have to enter all of their personal data each time. A government services bus (GSB) is a platform that enables agencies and the associated branches to integrate and interlink in order to share data. Most agencies are unaware of the advantages of GSB. COVID-19 has locked down the world in many aspects. This study aims to identify the purpose of GSB and its advantages in order to raise awareness in the agencies, branches, and communities. A questionnaire was conducted to measure the awareness of GSB. Awareness is an essential factor that allows a government agency to understand why it should interlink with GSB. There are numerous advantages to sharing and interchanging data among agencies and providing e-services to other agencies and citizens.

Abstract:
The deployment of complex expert economic evidence is a common feature of competition litigation. However, fundamental differences in thinking between lawyers and economists may have a bearing on the content and presentation of that evidence. This article considers the respective roles of lawyers and economists in competition litigation in the High Court and the Competition Appeal Tribunal, and how those roles interlink in practice.

Abstract:
Current multimedia applications in Web 2.0 have generated large repositories for multimedia resources and annotations, so there is an urgent requirement to interlink annotations of these resources across different repositories to achieve better indexing and searching. To solve this problem, many researchers have been trying to apply semantic Web technologies to media fragments and annotations. Linked data has brought forward a promising way to expose, index and search media fragments and annotations which used to be isolated in different applications. This paper discusses in depth three key research problems when applying linked data principles in multimedia annotations: choosing URIs for media fragments, dereferencing media fragments and ontology alignment. An architecture is designed based on the possible solutions of the research problems. The key idea of the architecture is that it should act like an extra layer built on top of existing applications when publishing linked data. A demo is built as an implementation of the architecture to show that media fragments can be published and linked to various datasets in the linked data cloud. In the future, some algorithms should be designed to make full use of the interlinked media fragments and annotations for indexing and searching.

Abstract:
The interlink between diabetes mellitus and neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s Disease (AD) and Parkinson’s Disease (PD) has been identified by several researchers. Patients with Type-2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) are found to be affected with cognitive impairments leading to learning and memory deficit, while patients with Type-1 Diabetes Mellitus (T1DM) showed less severe levels of these impairments in the brain. This review aimed to discuss the connection between insulin with the pathophysiology of neurodegenerative diseases (AD and PD) and the current therapeutic approached mediated through insulin for management of neurodegenerative diseases. An extensive literature search was conducted using keywords “insulin”; “insulin resistance”; “Alzheimer’s disease”; “Parkinson’s disease” in public domains of Google scholar, PubMed, and ScienceDirect. Selected articles were used to construct this review. Studies have shown that impaired insulin signaling contributes to the accumulation of amyloid-β, neurofibrillary tangles, tau proteins and α-synuclein in the brain. Whereas, improvement in insulin signaling slows down the progression of cognitive decline. Various therapeutic approaches for altering the insulin function in the brain have been researched. Besides intranasal insulin, other therapeutics like PPAR-γ agonists, neurotrophins, stem cell therapy and insulin-like growth factor-1 are under investigation. Research has shown that insulin insensitivity in T2DM leads to neurodegeneration through mechanisms involving a variety of extracellular, membrane receptor, and intracellular signaling pathway disruptions. Some therapeutics, such as intranasal administration of insulin and neuroactive substances have shown promise but face problems related to genetic background, accessibility to the brain, and invasiveness of the procedures.
