Full textbecause, although there were some efforts for transition to democratic regime by that time, all those efforts failed due to the unpreparedness of the Turkish rulers, the Turkish people, and also insufficient social, economic and political conditions in the country. Within the five year period between 1945 and 1950, both the internal and the external dynamics which would contribute democratization in Turkey had changed. The new conditions emerging from the WW II and the post war period transformed economic, political, and social structures of the society that changed expectations in the country. All these dynamics playing important roles in the democratization of Turkey will be mentioned in the thesis. The period in the thesis will start with the termination of the WW II and it will end with the general elections held on May 14, 1950.

Dessa delades in i
individens behov.
The purpose of the study was to discern which strategies pupils employ when they solve
a mathematical problem. We carried through one observation and nine individual
interviews with pupils in school year 3. They were asked to solve a mathematical
problem, which was observed. On the basis of the pupils’ solutions, we carried out
interviews in order to determine which strategies they chose to employ. The outcome of
the pupils’ solutions showed several problem solving strategies. These were divided
into external and internal representations. Strategies such as pictures, graphs and
mathematical symbols (numerals) are external representations, as they consist of
concrete pictures that the pupils must see in front of them on a paper when solving
mathematical problems. Mental arithmetic, automated knowledge and “thinking” are all
strategies that belong to internal modes of representation. With internal representations,
we mean what happens inside our heads – what pupils need not see in front of them in
order to solve a problem. We found that the pupils’ solutions contained combinations of
several different strategies. Irrespective of which strategy or strategies the pupil choose
in his or her problem solving, it is inevitable to use some variety of internal
representations; everyone has to think, regardless of the strategy chosen and the
problem solving skills of the pupil. When pupils are young, it may be difficult for them
to present the flow of their problem solving processes in writing. Consequently, as
teachers we must have time to familiarize ourselves with how the pupil thinks in order
to develop our teaching on the basis of the needs of the individual pupil.

Full textThere is no doubt that parental conflicts can be the cause of child‘s stress. The studies of healthy children show that marital conflicts can be extremely harmful. However there are not many empirical studies of how marital conflicts relate to psychological adjustment in children with bronchial asthma. So the purpose of this study was to explore the relations between parental conflicts resolutions, their children with asthma psychological adjustment and certain demographic data. During the study parents of 192 children aged from 1,8 - 12 years were questionned. 86 children, 56 boys and 30 girls, were suffering from mild (N = 55) and moderate (N = 31) asthma forms. 106 of the same age children, 55 boys and 50 girls, without any chronic disease were used as a comparison group. In the study Child Behaviour Checklist (CBCL/1½-5 and CBCL6–18), the Conflicts and Problem – Solving Scales (CPS) and child‘s environmental questionnaire were used. The analysis of results showed that children with asthma have more internal difficulties than healthy children. Girls with asthma have more external difficulties as compared to their healthy peers. The expression of these difficulties does not differ depending on the form of asthma or child‘s with asthma gender. It was found that pre-school age children with asthma have more emotional and general (emotional and behavioural) difficulties than their healthy peers. The study showed that parents who had children with asthma (under the mothers... [to full text]

The purpose with this study is to investigate if there is an association between unpredictable parents and the occurrence of both internal and external behavior problems among adolescents. The study considers the internalizing behavior problems low self-esteem and depression and the externalizing behavior problems delinquency and aggression. The study consists of 1018 adolescents in ages between 13 and 15 years old. The study is based on a questionnaire where five scales are used to measure the participating adolescent’s self-esteem, depression, delinquency and aggression and their view on how consistent their parents are. The result shows that those adolescents who have both internalizing and externalizing behavior problems where those who reported highest in unpredictability in their parents.

The aim of this dissertation is to explore the evolution of both architecture and urban space, in terms of mutual relationship between solids and voids, with particular attention to two transitional moments of ancient and modern history: the Hellenistic and Baroque periods. This study is the result of the consideration that in certain periods, at least in western history, there is a clear predominance of either interior or exterior space in relation to architecture. If on one hand external space seems to predominate in Greek and modern architecture, interior space is prevalent between the Roman and the Renaissance periods. The hypothesis is that both the Hellenistic and Baroque periods represent intermediate phases in the historical transition between interior and exterior space and that this transition is manifested, through the transformations of the urban fabric, in the enclosed civic spaces of forums and squares. The methodological approach can be more easily described defining what this analysis is not meant to be: this examination is neither intended to be an urban theory nor a historical study. The intention is to interrelate theory and history, remaining distant from the necessary abstraction of urban design theory and, at the same time, avoiding the indispensable specificity and attention to details required by architecture history.

Full textWe have seen a need to embrace human potential as a key factor for sustainable development. With a background in a doxological epistemology we have taken the role of the bricoleur, and based on a heuristic approach and a pragmatic use of Theory U we have dealt with different research fields in an eclectic fashion. First, we have investigated how people´s perceptions of the city are channeled through metaphors and how it affects our cities and our lives. Drawn on complexity theory, chaos theory and systems theory, we examined the city as a whole. Finally, using Ken Wiber´s Integral Philosophy and the philosophy of Gilles Deleuze we reach our synthesis called The City´s Internal and External Co-evolution, which puts metaphors of the city in a context.

Full textThe focus of this paper is to describe a unified methodology for developing both internal and external data display translators between an Instrumentation Support System (ISS) format and Data Display Markup Language (DDML), a neutral language for describing data displays. The methodology includes aspects common to both ISSs that have a well documented text-based save format and those that do not, as well as aspects that are unique to each type. We will also describe the means by which an external translator can be integrated into a translator framework. Finally, we will describe how an internal translator can be integrated directly into the ISS.

Full textData warehouses (DWs) have become one of the largest investments in the past years for organisations, and incorporating external data into a DW can give organisations huge possibilities. Organisations that successfully manage to incorporate external data into a DW have an advantage over those who do not, but there are problems with incorporating data acquired from outside the organisation, and there is a lack of research aimed at these problems. The comprehensive aim of this dissertation is to characterise and categorise problems with incorporating external data. The available literature was scanned to find problems and an interview study was conducted to validate the problems found in the literature. Respondents from five well-known organisations in Sweden participated and the result is a list of problems backed up by both literature and empirical findings

Full textStrategic management has long been viewed as the concept and process that link an organization
and its environment together (Leibold, Probst & Gibbert, 2002). It consists of the
analysis, decisions and actions an organization undertakes in order to create and sustain
competitive advantages (Dess, Lumpkin & Taylor, 2005).
Within the history of strategic management research there has been an unbalance between
the internal and the external perspective. During the 1980s Michael Porter, one of the most
prominent strategic management researchers, and his Five Forces model focused strictly on
the external competitive environment (Mintzberg, Ahlstrand & Lampel, 1998). Further, in
the 1990s the focus shifted from external to internal along with Jay Barney’s development
of the resource based theory in 1991 (Barney, 1991). The issue of excluding one or the
other perspective has now started to be acknowledged and researchers today are striving
for developing models integrating both perspectives. However, theoretical models existing
today that combine the two perspectives are complex and hard to apply in practice for
managers within the business world.
In order to address the complexity of the strategic management concept we have chosen to
develop a model with the purpose to connect and relate the external and internal perspectives
by conducting an in-depth analysis of a chosen company. The model also strives to be
easily communicated, applicable and understandable for managers and employees on different
levels within the organization. This leads us to the purpose of this thesis: “to develop
a simplified model that combines the external and internal perspective of strategic management
and apply this to a chosen company”.
The research was conducted through a case study based on the authors’ participation in a
PBM (Project Based Module) - project. The model was tested on the company in question
by analyzing the company’s internal and external environment with the means of analysis
tools such as PEST-analysis, strategic group analysis, threshold analysis and the SWOTanalysis.
To conclude it is important to balance an organization’s internal efforts with the external
market conditions and avoid excluding one or the other from the strategic management
process. Combining the two perspectives results in identifying the current capabilities and
competences and the direction of how to use these in order to meet market demands and
gain competitive advantage.
