Abstract:
The article presents the results of Russian organizations social capital formation internal factors studies. This problem is considered from the conceptual-theoretical model proposed by the author point of view which assumes to consider social capital as a specific management resource the formation of which is influenced by a set of external and internal factors. The author notes a certain inconsistency of the research in particular heterogeneity of social groups which negatively affects the formation of organizational social capital due to the lack of a general tendency to pro-social behavior. The analysis of the structural aspect of social capital using data on social networks reflects to a greater extent its relational component characterizing social networks in terms of content and strength of connections. The article highlights the typical limitations of studies (such as indicators limitation, incompleteness of coverage of social capital different aspects, the aspiration to consider the organizational social capital as the sum of the individual capitals, insufficient sample sizes) contributing to their fragmentation and the narrative. The author notes the special role of corporate social responsibility system and social policy as a factors in organization social capital formation process. Corporate culture is defined as a factor of social capital formation as well. It is considered as an independent component of organization functioning.

Abstract:
In several applications like healthcare, time in workflow execution is critical. Several control and data dependencies arise that must be specified, validated as conflict free, and maintained during workflow execution. The author models these kinds of dependencies as constraints that impose temporal restrictions on the relative order of execution of the activities. Hence, a finer granularity of activity execution with respect to time is introduced. The author incorporates a subset of interval algebra in the workflow specification model and the author proposes the T-WfMc specification model. The author examines the consistency issues that arise, and the author proposes different correctness criteria.

Abstract:
The article presents the study of leading political and economic challenges to the national security and the realisation of national interests of the Russian Federation. In the article, the author defines the term “challenge” in the framework of fulfilment of national interests of Russia. Firstly, the author demonstrated the main differences between the terms “challenge” and “threat”, because domestic researchers consider these concepts as of similar meaning. The author defines the challenges as prerequisites for threats, based on the lack of subjective intentions and objective capabilities of the subject to harm the national interests of the object. Further, the author identifies the causes and characteristics of economic and political challenges in conditions of ensuring national security. The author identified primary objective factors determining internal and external threats: Russia’s position in the international arena, geographical features, and a new model of economic development. The author considers the lack of a competent social policy, the lack of a timely reaction of regional authorities to social needs, and mineral export dependence as subjective factors determining internal and external challenges. Finally, the author determined the influence of challenges and threats on the social sphere of the state, where political and economic factors equally influence the implementation of social projects.

Bosch, Gerhard. "The standard employment relationship in the information society." Concepts and Transformation 9, no. 3 (2004): 231–48. http://dx.doi.org/10.1075/cat.9.3.02bos.

Abstract:
In the view of most authors, the long-established standard employment relationship (SER) has little future in the information society as external structural change comes to replace internal structural change. This article shows that, contrary to these beliefs in most industrialised countries, employment relationships have tended to become more stable in recent years, particularly among skilled workers, for the reason that spatial proximity and close social communication is gaining increasing importance in knowledge-based work. The author identifies the following six different causes underlying improvements or deterioration in the SER: (1) Flexibilisation of product markets, (2) rising female employment rates, (3) combination of education/training and work, (4) rising educational levels among the working population, (5) labour market regulation and deregulation, and (6) the employment situation. Changes in the SER are not being driven solely by the computerisation of production but also by other, very different forces which are at least as significant as technological change. The article concludes with an alternative paradigm taking as its starting point a new balance of internal and external mobility. As an alternative to the "Anglo-Saxon" model of the deregulated labour market, the author proposes a revitalisation of internal and occupational labour markets.

Abstract:
The paper explores the relationship between two levels of theory, i.e. its initial theoretical basis and its logic. The author describes three possible states of the initial theoretical basis: the potential, the state of the hypothesis, and the formation state. These states presumably differ in the degree of internal correlation of ingredients, which depends on the activity of the researcher’s mind. The author tries to determine the ontological location of the original theoretical basis. An analysis of historical and philosophical literature revealed the following characteristic positions, i.e. objective idealism, representationism, praxeological apriorism, praxeological subjectivism, and culturological transcendentalism. Each of the positions has its own argument and rational grounds. After a brief comparison, the author focuses on the last one. He analyses the possible mechanisms of the epistemological genesis of the idealized subject of theory from a potential initial theoretical basis, i.e. choice, invention, and transfer. In this paper, the methodological level of theory is understood as a set of its interpretations, i.e. in practical experience, semantics, and spiritual-theoretical space. Then the author identifies the main forms of interaction of the initial theoretical framework and the logic of theory. First, scientists, often unaccountably, shape the potential space of the original theoretical basis through the methodological operations of idealizations, design, and hypothetical input. In addition, theorists, who purposefully develop a theory, conceptualize the corresponding specific methods through the empirical projection of the theory, by introducing definitions of certain terms of the theoretical language in terms of the empirical language and vice versa. Finally, the author summarizes that the initial theoretical foundations formed into conceptual frameworks are prescriptions of scientific activity and operators of reflexive acts. Thus, rationality is a constant search for proportion and equilibrium between the postulated order (the ontological scheme) and the order of judgments about it (the methodology).

Abstract:
Background: Research is important internationally, impacting on health service provision and patient benefit. Journals play an important dissemination role, but there may be geographical bias, potentially affecting access to evidence. Aim: To understand if there is a relationship between the continent of journals and that of contributing authors. Design: Bibliometric analysis of journal citation report data (June 2018). Odds ratio of association of an author being from region, region of journal publication, publication model and the number of papers. Setting: Journals specialising in palliative care research, with an impact factor above the median impact factor for their most common indexing category. Results: Five journals: three published in Europe ( Palliative Medicine, BMJ Supportive and Palliative Care, and BMC Palliative Care) and two in North America ( Journal of Pain and Symptom Management and Journal of Palliative Medicine). Authors were from 30+ countries, but mostly North America (54.18%) or Europe (27.94%). Preliminary sensitivity tests show that the odds of an author being from a North American institution increase 16.4 times ( p < 0.01; 95% confidence interval: 12.9, 20.8) if the region of journal publication is North America. The odds of an author being from a European institution is 14.0 times ( p < 0.01; 95% confidence interval: 10.9, 17.9) higher if the region of journal publication is Europe. Conclusion: Publishers, editors and authors are concentrated in North America or Europe. North American authors are more present in North American journals and European authors in European journals. This polarised approach, if replicated across readerships, may lead to research waste, duplication, and be sub-optimal for healthcare development.

English is a global language with hundreds of millions of speakers all over the world. In Sweden,English is one of the most important subjects in primary and upper secondary school. As a guideand supplement, many teachers use textbooks in their teaching, but not much research has beenconducted on the contents of textbooks and how it may influence students’ worldview. This study aims to investigate how different speakers of English are constituted in four textbooksfrom English level 5 in the Swedish upper secondary school. The purpose of the study is to shedlight on possible problems that might arise with unreflected use of textbooks and it is based ondiscourse theory and the Concentric Circles Model. The authors reach the conclusion that thetextbooks constitute a reality where the traditional core of native English speaking countriesdominates the English-speaking world. Furthermore, the analysed textbooks were found not tofollow several of the directives set down in the national curriculum. Hopefully this study willcontribute to broaden the research field of textbook analysis in Sweden.

Abstract:
------- ABSTRACT -------

Abstract:
The Internet of Things (IoT) is covering little by little every aspect on our lives. As these systems become more pervasive, the need of managing this complex infrastructure comes with several challenges. Indeed, plenty of small interconnected devices are now providing more than a service in several aspects of our everyday life, which need to be adapted to new contexts without the interruption of such services. However, this new computing system differs from classical Internet systems mainly on the type, physical size and access of the nodes. Thus, typical methods to manage the distributed software layer on large distributed systems as usual cannot be employed on this context. Indeed, this is due to the very different capacities on computing power and network connectivity, which are very constrained for IoT devices. Moreover, the complexity which was before managed by experts on several fields, such as embedded systems and Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN), is now increased by the larger quantity and heterogeneity of the node’s software and hardware. Therefore, we need efficient methods to manage the software layer of these systems, taking into account the very limited resources. This underlying hardware infrastructure raises new challenges in the way we administrate the software layer of these systems. These challenges can be divided into: intra-node, on which we face the limited memory and CPU of IoT nodes, in order to manage the software layer and ; inter-node, on which a new way to distribute the updates is needed, due to the different network topology and cost in energy for battery powered devices. Indeed, the limited computing power and battery life of each node combined with the very distributed nature of these systems, greatly adds complexity to the distributed software layer management. Software reconfiguration of nodes in the Internet of Things is a major concern for various application fields. In particular, distributing the code of updated or new software features to their final node destination in order to adapt it to new requirements, has a huge impact on energy consumption. Most current algorithms for disseminating code over the air (OTA) are meant to disseminate a complete firmware through small chunks and are often implemented at the network layer, thus ignoring all guiding information from the application layer. First contribution: A models@runtime engine able to represent an IoT running application on resource constrained nodes. The transformation of the Kevoree meta-model into C code to meet the specific memory constraints of an IoT device was performed, as well as the proposition of modelling tools to manipulate a model@runtime. Second contribution: Component decoupling of an IoT system as well as an efficient component distribution algorithm. Components decoupling of an application in the context of the IoT facilitates its representation on the model@runtime, while it provides a way to easily change its behaviour by adding/removing components and changing their parameters. In addition, a mechanism to distribute such components using a new algorithm, called Calpulli is proposed

Abstract:

Abstract:
In 1970, Lygia Fagundes Telles published the book Antes do Baile Verde, disclosing previously unpublished tales and short stories, reviewed by the author herself for this new edition, beginning the creation of a personal canon, by excluding some texts and altering those which remained. That being so, this book emerges as a kind of critic to her own work - criticism that is true not only because of the tales reviewing, but also for the reviewing of the book itself, which configuration has been changing for more than a decade, until reaching its current version. This shows us a constant movement as a writer on pursuit of an never achievable perfection. The work here presented is an attempt undertaken by a "model reader" to understand the intent of a hypothetical "model author" by modifying the tales here gathered and studied - according to the researcher Umberto Eco (1994). Besides Eco, we based ourselves on other novelists, also theoretical, such as Alberto Manguel (2005), Osman Lins (1974), Ricardo Piglia (2006), which addressed the issue of construction and reading of literary texts; and the work of Lygia Fagundes Telles, specifically: Alfredo Monte (2013), Nelly Novaes Coelho (1971), Vera Maria Tietzmann Silva (1985 and 2009), Vicente Ataíde (1972). In that search, we looked quantitatively and qualitatively upon tales review presented before the book Green Ball, examining how some recurring elements were gradually incorporated into the narrative, giving them an authorial homogeneity. The changes seen in the tales are of different natures: employment of more conversational tone; update of words; greater adaptation of language to the characters; option for buildings that do not call too much attention to themselves; larger economy in the construction of the scenes and characters; etc. Such changes can be perceived in the critical edition through the comparison between the first and last issues of each of the stories in this book. Here, we give the reader the latest edition of these tales, bringing, beside them, modified excerpts, as they appeared in their primary editions, presented on books from 1949 to 1970.<br>Resumen: En 1970 Lygia Fagundes Telles publicó el libro Antes do Baile Verde, trayendo cuentos inéditos y cuentos publicados anteriormente, revisados por la propia autora para esa nueva edición, empezando la creación de un canon personal, renegando algunos textos y cambiando aquellos que permanecerían.

Abstract:
The introduced method of evaluation of the corporate internal communication environment is based upon the author’s maturity model. Within the study, the key intangible factors (motivators) were identified as a maturity model component. The survey of top executives in the business services sector was carried out to analyze maturity model influence on business performance. The author argues that empowerment (expansion of employees’ rights and possibilities) influences performance significantly. Practical recommendations are given on how to increase maturity level in managing corporate internal communication environment to achieve better results. Building efficient corporate internal communication environment is the vital task for innovative companies with dominant and increasing intellectual property in value added. The best practices of Russian hi-tech companies demonstrates that implemented business competence model, single communication and learning space and social interaction instruments make the most efficient mechanisms for building internal communication environment to facilitate innovations.

In ASME Turbo Expo 2001: Power for Land, Sea, and Air. American Society of Mechanical Engineers, 2001. http://dx.doi.org/10.1115/2001-gt-0380.

Full text
Abstract:
The aim of this work is to investigate the performance of Internal Reforming Solid Oxide Fuel Cell (IRSOFC) and Gas Turbine (GT) combined cycles. A mathematical model of the IRSOFC steady-state operation was presented in Part A of this work (Massardo and Lubelli, 1998), coupled to the thermodynamic analysis of a number of proposed IRSOFC-GT combined cycles, taking into account the influence of several technological constraints. In the second part of this work, both an exergy and a thermoeconomic analysis of the proposed cycles have been carried out using the TEMP code developed by the Author (Agazzani and Massardo, 1997). A suitable equation for IRSOFC cost evaluation based on cell geometry and performance has been proposed and employed to evaluate the electricity generation cost of the proposed combined systems. The results are presented and the influence of several parameters is discussed: external reformer operating conditions, fuel to air ratio, cell current density, compressor pressure ratio, etc. Diagrams proposed by the Author (Massardo and Scialo’, 2000) for cost vs. efficiency, cost vs. specific work, and cost vs. system pressure are also presented and discussed.

Abstract:
This study used a coupled Eulerian Lagrangian (CEL) approach to model the air within a football (soccer ball) during two types of impacts. Conventional modelling techniques (and those used in all previous football finite element models known by the author) utilize a uniform pressure method incapable of accounting for spatial pressure variation. Internal pressures and deformations for the CEL and uniform pressure models were within a few percent of each other, indicating good agreement between pressurization techniques. By necessity, the air was defined with different methods in each model and this may have contributed to a discrepancy in maximum internal pressure. Using the CEL model, the pressure wave generated at impact was observed to travel from one side of the ball to the other at the speed of sound. Though the CEL model helped illustrate the impact scenario, there were no clear distinctions that gave it an advantage over the uniform pressure method for simple impact analysis.

In ASME/JSME 2011 8th Thermal Engineering Joint Conference. ASMEDC, 2011. http://dx.doi.org/10.1115/ajtec2011-44503.

Full text
Abstract:
A generalization of the so-called ecological cycle introduced by Angulo-Brown for the endoreversible maximum power problem of Curzon-Ahlborn is presented here under the assumption of arithmetic mean temperature differences and Newtonian heat transfer in heat exchangers, but with internal irreversibility and a variable heat transfer entropy penalization factor of maximum power to be produced. This presentation extends that given recently for a case study of an ecological non endoreversible Curzon-Ahlborn cycle, and more recently by this author for general rules of heat conductance allocations in endoreversible and irreversible Carnot like power or refrigeration cycles, and cascades of such cycles. Analytical results are obtained here in terms of heat source and sink temperature ratio, internal irreversibility factor, and ecological entropy penalization factor X defined as the number of times the energy equivalent entropy produced through heat transfer is subtracted from power generated per unit overall heat conductance. The value of X to design for in a given case study will dependent admittedly, on the respective capital cost and expected fuel cost of the particular power cycle to be retained. Finally, a newly defined ratio of maximum power produced to heat rejected by the cycle is presented as an ecology friendly parameter.

Full text
Abstract:
Currently available global inventories of nitrogen oxides (NOx) and other pollutant emissions from merchant ships are based, at least partly, on data published by international marine bunker fuel suppliers. However, the uncertainty of such data seems to be quite high, because the figures released by bunker fuel companies might be incomplete or based, for example, on data collected from only the largest ports. Besides, all similar other studies conducted so far were based on simplified average emission and fuel consumption characteristics of diesel engines and did not take into account variations with engine type, size, engine load and engine speed, as well as only being valid for new state-of-the-art diesel engines as supplied by the industry today. Furthermore, fuel consumption rates of the auxiliary engine equipment onboard vessels were neglected. The author therefore adopted a different approach by calculating the actual bunker amount and the fleet’s 2001 NOx emissions in order to reduce uncertainty in existing inventories and to assist in achieving a better modeling of the effects of ships’ pollutants on atmospheric chemistry. For this study, all ships of 100 gross tonnage (gt) and above were taken into account. This methodology resulted in a significantly higher world fleet fuel consumption, and, consequently, much higher oceangoing ships’ NOx emissions than known or anticipated so far. In spite of the fleet’s high NOx emission rate in absolute figures this paper shows, that when emissions are based on the annual seaborne trade, merchant shipping is an environmentally efficient mode of transportation of freight.

Full text
Abstract:
There must be an end gap in the piston ring because of the need of mounting and compensation for diameter after the wear of ring. Richardson’ and many author’ studies have showed the effects of the end gap to blowby and oil consumption, especially in the presence of ring or liner wear. This problem has influenced the effective utilization of the fuel energy for many years. Moreover the ring will rotate in the working cycle of engine. Once the end gaps of two compression rings come to the site of superposition, the shortest passage of gas flow is formed and blowby will be increased. The deflection of crankpin and rotation of piston were calculated according to the analytical model based on the torque transmission theory of crankshaft. The positive and negative deflections of crankpin result in the reciprocating rotation of piston in the IC engine working cycle. The peak values of deflection and rotation are in the vicinity of crank angle position of deflagration. Because the clingy moment of compression rings are less than rotational resistance moment in a few section of crank angle, they are unable to keep synchronism with piston and the rotations opposite to piston occur. The rotation angle of the second compression ring is more than that of the first ring. The superposition of the end gaps of two compression rings comes about when they turn to the same angle position. Based on above study, the structure of one compression ring in piston system should be widely used, which is in favor of reduction of friction and engine weight, pushing forward the lightweight process, being useful to the decrease of fuel consumption and emission. The pressure of combustion gas will not remarkably descend in this structure. The problem of ring suspension and pressure release in the first ring land can be resolved. Two types of rings with complete seal and economizing energy design are showed for the structure of one ring, which will also avoid the increase of end gap after the rings are worn.

Internet game "Sign me up as an astronaut" for the formation of the social and psychological experience of younger adolescents with disabilities by means of game psychocorrection. Science and Innovation Center Publishing House, 2020. http://dx.doi.org/10.12731/sign_me_up_as_an_astronaut.

Full text
Abstract:
In the practice of a teacher-psychologist at the School of Distance Education, the game “Sign me up as an astronaut”, developed by the author, was tested, aimed at developing the skills of social and psychological interaction in younger adolescents with disabilities through the awareness and strengthening of personal resources by means of game psychocorrection. The specifics of the work of a psychologist at the School of Distance Education are determined by the following circumstances: - students have a severe disability and the corresponding psychophysical characteristics: instability of the emotional-volitional sphere, lack of motivation, severe physical and mental fatigue, low level of social skills, etc. - the use of distance educational technologies in psychocorrectional work; - lack of methodological recommendations for psychocorrectional work in conditions of distance technologies with school-age children. Such recommendations are available mainly for adults, they relate to the educational process, but they do not cover the correctional process. There is enough scientific and methodological literature on psychological and pedagogical correction, which is the basis for ensuring the work of a practicing psychologist, but there are difficulties in transferring these techniques, games, etc. - to the remote mode of correctional and developmental work, especially in the form of group work. During the game, various social and psychological situations are solved, which are selected strictly according to the characteristics of the social experience of the participants.

Full text
Abstract:
The author characterized the Ukrainian national values, national interests and national goals. It is emphasized that national values are conceptual, ideological bases, consolidating factors, important life guidelines on the way to effective protection of Ukraine from Russian aggression and building a democratic, united Ukrainian state. Author analyzes the functioning of the mass media in the context of educational propaganda of individual, social and state values, the dominant core of which are patriotism, human rights and freedoms, social justice, material and spiritual wealth of Ukrainians, natural resources, morality, peace, religiosity, benevolence, national security, constitutional order. These key national values are a strong moral and civic core, a life-giving element, a self-affirming synergy, which on the basis of homogeneity binds the current Ukrainian society with the ancestors and their centuries-old material and spiritual heritage. Attention is focused on the fact that the current problem of building the Ukrainian state and protecting it from the brutal Moscow invaders is directly dependent on the awareness of all citizens of the essence of national values, national interests, national goals and filling them with the meaning of life, charitable socio-political life. It is emphasized that the missionary vocation of journalists to orient readers and listeners to the meaningful choice of basic national values, on the basis of which Ukrainian citizens, regardless of nationality together they will overcome the external Moscow and internal aggression of the pro-Russian fifth column, achieve peace, return the Ukrainian territories seized by the Kremlin imperialists and, in agreement will build Ukrainian Ukraine.

Abstract:
The Polish film system is characterized by a variety of forms. Michał Zabłocki, the author of the comprehensive study of the «Organization of the production of feature film in Poland», isolates two models of world cinema: a producer and a producer – director. The first one features the dominant role of the producer, which means the person who is responsible for the work of all the film departments – direction, cinematography, production management, scenography and costume design. The second one, the model which is still the most popular in Poland, assumes close cooperation between the producer and the director.

HEFNER, Robert. IHSAN ETHICS AND POLITICAL REVITALIZATION Appreciating Muqtedar Khan’s Islam and Good Governance. IIIT, 2020. http://dx.doi.org/10.47816/01.001.20.

Full text
Abstract:
Ours is an age of pervasive political turbulence, and the scale of the challenge requires new thinking on politics as well as public ethics for our world. In Western countries, the specter of Islamophobia, alt-right populism, along with racialized violence has shaken public confidence in long-secure assumptions rooted in democracy, diversity, and citizenship. The tragic denouement of so many of the Arab uprisings together with the ascendance of apocalyptic extremists like Daesh and Boko Haram have caused an even greater sense of alarm in large parts of the Muslim-majority world. It is against this backdrop that M.A. Muqtedar Khan has written a book of breathtaking range and ethical beauty. The author explores the history and sociology of the Muslim world, both classic and contemporary. He does so, however, not merely to chronicle the phases of its development, but to explore just why the message of compassion, mercy, and ethical beauty so prominent in the Quran and Sunna of the Prophet came over time to be displaced by a narrow legalism that emphasized jurisprudence, punishment, and social control. In the modern era, Western Orientalists and Islamists alike have pushed the juridification and interpretive reification of Islamic ethical traditions even further. Each group has asserted that the essence of Islam lies in jurisprudence (fiqh), and both have tended to imagine this legal heritage on the model of Western positive law, according to which law is authorized, codified, and enforced by a leviathan state. “Reification of Shariah and equating of Islam and Shariah has a rather emaciating effect on Islam,” Khan rightly argues. It leads its proponents to overlook “the depth and heights of Islamic faith, mysticism, philosophy or even emotions such as divine love (Muhabba)” (13). As the sociologist of Islamic law, Sami Zubaida, has similarly observed, in all these developments one sees evidence, not of a traditionalist reassertion of Muslim values, but a “triumph of Western models” of religion and state (Zubaida 2003:135). To counteract these impoverishing trends, Khan presents a far-reaching analysis that “seeks to move away from the now failed vision of Islamic states without demanding radical secularization” (2). He does so by positioning himself squarely within the ethical and mystical legacy of the Qur’an and traditions of the Prophet. As the book’s title makes clear, the key to this effort of religious recovery is “the cosmology of Ihsan and the worldview of Al-Tasawwuf, the science of Islamic mysticism” (1-2). For Islamist activists whose models of Islam have more to do with contemporary identity politics than a deep reading of Islamic traditions, Khan’s foregrounding of Ihsan may seem unfamiliar or baffling. But one of the many achievements of this book is the skill with which it plumbs the depth of scripture, classical commentaries, and tasawwuf practices to recover and confirm the ethic that lies at their heart. “The Quran promises that God is with those who do beautiful things,” the author reminds us (Khan 2019:1). The concept of Ihsan appears 191 times in 175 verses in the Quran (110). The concept is given its richest elaboration, Khan explains, in the famous hadith of the Angel Gabriel. This tradition recounts that when Gabriel appeared before the Prophet he asked, “What is Ihsan?” Both Gabriel’s question and the Prophet’s response make clear that Ihsan is an ideal at the center of the Qur’an and Sunna of the Prophet, and that it enjoins “perfection, goodness, to better, to do beautiful things and to do righteous deeds” (3). It is this cosmological ethic that Khan argues must be restored and implemented “to develop a political philosophy … that emphasizes love over law” (2). In its expansive exploration of Islamic ethics and civilization, Khan’s Islam and Good Governance will remind some readers of the late Shahab Ahmed’s remarkable book, What is Islam? The Importance of Being Islamic (Ahmed 2016). Both are works of impressive range and spiritual depth. But whereas Ahmed stood in the humanities wing of Islamic studies, Khan is an intellectual polymath who moves easily across the Islamic sciences, social theory, and comparative politics. He brings the full weight of his effort to conclusion with policy recommendations for how “to combine Sufism with political theory” (6), and to do so in a way that recommends specific “Islamic principles that encourage good governance, and politics in pursuit of goodness” (8).
