Abstract:
The globalisation processes are expanding, making all the subjects of the global functioning system interdependent on each other. One of the pros of globalisation is the possibility to exchange goods and services between the subjects either on the global or regional levels. Such an exchange of goods and services is considered international trade. International trade is carried out in the forms of exports and imports. International trade influences any region’s economic functioning, including dynamics and volatility of economic growth as well as labour market performance. Public administration includes state governance (executed by the state authorities), regional and local governance (executed by the regional and local bodies of state power) and public governance (carried out by the non-state entities, NGOs, etc). The subject of international trade public administration to be paid attention at in this research is the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Ukraine, which is a non-governmental non-profit self-governing organization that unites legal entities and citizens of Ukraine registered as entrepreneurs, as well as their associations, on a voluntary basis. The regional structure of chambers of commerce includes the central Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Ukraine and 25 regional Chambers. The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Ukraine a member of the International Chamber of Commerce and the World Federation of Chambers as well as the Association of European Chambers of Commerce and Industry. The public administration of international trade effectiveness has been evaluated through its indirect impact on the regional performance in general. The amounts of Gross Regional Product for the regions of Ukraine and their shares of the Gross Regional Product have been visualised, analysed and compared. The subjects to use the research itself and its results have been defined and the prospects as well as the further research development limitations have been stated.

Abstract:

Thesis, Paris 1, 2017. http://www.theses.fr/2017PA01D016.

Full text
Abstract:
Requirements and risks of international trade have created, in the early twentieth century, a legal technique adapted to the relationship between exporter and importer. This is especially the documentary credit, which can be defined as a transaction in which the buyer's bank agrees to pay the price of goods to the seller, when he will submit documentation confirming the shipping of the goods. This can be either a bill of lading an invoice, or even an insurance police... However, the absence of specific regulations concerning the documentary credit decided the practitioners to give birth, in 1993, of the «Uniform Customs and Practice on Documentary Credit» (UCP), the creation of the International Chamber of Commerce. Today, because of the lack of legislation regulating national or international documentary credit source, these rules apply, after voluntary decision of the parties or by the banking system of a said country or by individual adoption by the banks, to « all documentary credits unless otherwise as expressly provided by the parties». These practices are also effective because they rely on proven banking techniques in the rule of unenforceable exceptions

What is «liquidable» and how should this concept be faced by arbitrators and judges? Can an enforcement judge determine concepts such as costs, interests and/or penalties if the arbitral tribunal has not provided any parameters? What fundamental rights might be violated? In accordance with international arbitration practice, we will deal here with the problems arising from the division of functions between judges and arbitrators in relation to the enforcement of the «liquidable» concepts.

Arshi, Tahseen Anwer. "Entrepreneurial orientation and its impact on innovation intensity in the Omani corporate sector." Thesis, University of Bedfordshire, 2016. http://hdl.handle.net/10547/622108.

Full text
Abstract:
Entrepreneurial Orientation (EO) is a widely researched construct of corporate entrepreneurship. Despite long-standing research on EO, past studies on this construct have been unable to resolve issues related to its measurement. Innovation Intensity (II) is also a dynamic construct of corporate entrepreneurship but has received relatively less empirical attention. Previous research has reported an absence of an empirically validated quantitative scale of innovation, particularly innovation intensity. This research has addressed these gaps by proposing a refinement and validation of the Entrepreneurial Orientation scale and the development of an Innovation Intensity scale. The research proposes an Entrepreneurial Transformational Model (ETM) positing that EO impacts II. A predominantly quantitative research strategy supported by qualitative inputs, is employed to obtain empirical data from 404 corporate firms in Oman, drawing from a list of corporate firms registered with the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry. A mix of questionnaire survey and semi-structured interviews was conducted with senior managers from firms representing various industries of the Omani corporate sector. Utilising exploratory factor analysis (EFA), confirmatory factor analysis (CFA), and structural equation modelling (SEM), a two-stage data analysis approach was adopted. Measurement and structural models were developed for EO and II measures, while a complete SEM model was developed to test the causal relationship between EO and II. The results indicate that EO is a second-order construct consisting of five first-order factors, namely ready to innovate, competitive aggressiveness, autonomy, risk taking and proactiveness, which are its reflective components. Similarly, II is a second-order construct consisting of two first-order factors, namely degree and frequency of incremental and radical innovation, which are its reflective components. The II scale developed through this study allows corporate firms to assess their innovation intensity on a two-dimensional four-celled grid with varying levels of degree and frequency of innovation. Finally, EO is found to influence II and the entire relationship is posited as Entrepreneurial Transformation Model. This study, by addressing the empirical irregularities, has brought clarity to the measurement of EO and II constructs and is an original contribution to the advancement of theoretical knowledge and improvement in professional practice.

Abstract:
This thesis provides an overview of the importance of exports for the Czech economy and the main instruments used for support of exports by state and private institutions. It also presents new export activities of a non-state institution - International Chamber of Commerce in the Czech Republic (ICC Czech Republic), which is the general public not sufficiently aware of. The work contains opinions and positions of entities being directly affected by state export promotion in the Czech Republic - particularly small and medium enterprises, large exporters, and commercial banks - and also their specific requirements for the content of state export strategy. Their opinions are derived from various surveys and analysis and based on the information obtained from ICC Czech Republic. To create high-quality export strategy, it is necessary for the Ministry of Industry and Trade to cooperate with all relevant subjects such as EGAP, Czech Export Bank, Czech Chamber of Commerce, ICC Czech Republic, but especially with the business community. The strategy also needs to include the consolidation of state export promotion services, the allocation of sufficient funds for the Czech Export Bank and EGAP, the involvement of commercial banks in foreign trade finance and enhancement of international competitiveness of Czech exports. Thus can only be increased its contribution to individual subjects of foreign trade and the State itself.

These two procee-dings are widely used contractually in conjunction, however their outcomes and effectiveness pursu-ant to the legal framework of the Slovak Republic differ. We aim to outline the important factors to consider when choosing these methods of dispute resolution and their particularities. Abstract:
This workshop highlights the challenges and processes involved in developing Business English teaching competences in a primarily francophone environment. Participants will learn how to fine-tune blended training for trainees with little prior teaching experience. Reference will be made to a British Council--Algerian Chamber of Commerce and Industry project which culminated in setting up quality language centres in Algeria. The purpose of this workshop is to share the "good practices" of the recent Algerian experience in setting up four quality business English language centres that adhere to international norms and standards. The focus will be on the three blended teacher and trainer training phases of the project that were managed by the Algerian chamber of commerce and Industry with the help of British Council Algeria, experienced LCCI (London Chamber of Commerce and Industry) trainers and the Algerian Quality Association for Language Services (AQuALS). Whether experienced or inexperienced business English teachers, teacher trainers or academic managers; participants will find the hands-on approaches and field-tested instruments of great use in contexts with similar challenges. The talk starts with an examination of the context of business English language learning and teaching and factors that slowed down progress towards quality education in the country. Then, it describes the above project that was launched to meet the need for quality and standards. Next, it delineates the thematic and key professional skills that were covered, the adopted approaches and the challenges in the teacher/trainer training and development stages of the project. As one of the main project facilitators, the presenter will share the learned lessons with the participants and explores the mechanisms, instruments, strategies and peer support systems that were used to ensure quality. Last but not least, the participants' questions and comments during the last ten minutes will enable the presenter to shed more light on areas of their interest.

Abstract:
As compared to internal trade, international trade involves several risks, which can be specified as commercial, physical, political and legal risks. Cash against documents (documentary collection) is a type of payment method applied to reduce the legal risks in a transaction. This payment method is a reassuring way for the Importer, since he is not under any obligation to make a payment before examining the document and confirming its conformance to the terms of order. Cash against documents is more reliable than cash against goods (open account) on the one hand, but less reliable than letters of credit on the other hand. Cash against document is one of the most commonly used payment methods in international trade as it offers a cost-effective and simple system and processes faster than cash against goods. Rules regarding cash against documents are governed by International Commerce Chamber Brochure no. 522 (Uniform Rules for Collection-URC), which is a set of guiding principles with a non-statutory character. There is no specific regulation exists on cash against documents in Turkish Law. In order to apply the rules on cash against documents in a transaction, “documentary collection/cash against documents clause” should be incorporated into the text of contract. Parties to a documentary collection are the Principal (seller/exporter/drawer), the Remitting Bank, the Collecting Bank and the Drawee (buyer/importer).

Abstract:
Objective: The purpose of this paper was to determine whether tipping could reduce labor costs in the service sector. This research aims to better understand whether employees are more motivated to work because of the tip they receive. Methodology: We will achieve these goals based on the findings of the research from Slovenian and Montenegrin companies in 2019 and 2020. A quantitative survey was implemented on a convenience sample of 107 Slovenian, and 59 Montenegrin companies, using the non-probability sampling technique. Statistical data analysis was carried out with the help of IBM Statistic Package for Social Science (SPSS) software version 20. We investigated the area of tips from the point of view of the orderliness of the distribution of tips, what are the relations in Slovenia and Montenegro and whether the tip as a motivational activity is sufficiently used in these two countries. Originality: Tipping has received little attention in rewarding and motivating employees. Furthermore, there is no good, national source of guidance to help managers make decisions about tipping policies. This paper addresses these voids in Slovenia and Montenegro. Only a comprehensive discussion will be able to bridge this gap. Results: According to employees, the overall satisfaction with tips is better in Montenegro. Most employees allow the collection of tips, which is more present in Montenegro. In Slovenia, there is a regulated system of distribution of tips, while in Montenegro this system is not clearly defined. Moreover, in Slovenia, there is also an orderly system for the collection and sharing of tips. Due to this fact, in Slovenia, the distribution of tips includes both, the employees who are directly involved in providing services as well as their colleagues. By contract, in Montenegro, only employees directly involved in providing services are entitled to a tip. Practical implications: In order to decrease labor costs, we propose that the management takes control of tipping and integrates tips into the reward system. Also, the employees should be made aware of how tipping improves service and increases their income. Limitations: The sample was formed by the questionnaire that was distributed to various companies in the service sector as a non-probability method based on referrals from initial subjects to get another subject. The questionnaire was sent by e-mail directly. The data were obtained by the Chamber of Commerce of Slovenia and the Chamber of Commerce of Montenegro. The main problem with small samples is the interpretation of results. Therefore, the results cannot be fully generalized. This issue should be addressed in future tipping studies.

Abstract:
Modern theoretical and empirical analyses in international trade typically focus on firms as the sole trading actors. This is consistent with the fact that firms have traditionally accounted for the vast majority of trade and, hence, examining their behavior allows for fully characterizing trade margins and assessing their determinants. Emerging and rapidly growing trade modalities such as cross-border e-commerce have started to change this by making it easier for individuals to directly engage in international sales and purchases. However, to what extent and how consumers directly participate in and shape international trade has remained largely unknown due to data limitations. In this paper, we use a unique dataset consisting of the entire universe of import shipments that entered Peru in 2019 to provide novel evidence on the role of both consumers and firms as importers, characterize the distribution and patterns of their foreign purchases, and assess how gravity forces shape their trade decisions, thus filling in this gap in the literature.

Full text
Abstract:

Abstract:
As all aspects of the American workplace become automated or digitally enhanced to some degree, K12 educators have an increasing responsibility to help their students acquire the technical skills necessary to organize and interpret information. Increasingly, this is done through Geographic Information Systems (GIS), especially in careers related to transportation and logistics. The Center for International Trade & Transportation (CITT) at CSU Long Beach has developed this K12 Special Investigation Project to introduce ArcGIS StoryMaps, an engaging, accessible and sophisticated web-based GIS application. The lessons center on e-commerce and its accompanying environmental and economic impact. Still, the activities can be easily adapted to projects in any subject area, such as humanities, science, math, or language arts. This teacher blueprint includes a teacher training guide with ten detailed lesson plans and activities. With the guidance of a National Board-Certified Teacher in Early Adolescence Math as lead instructor, the curriculum is designed to align with Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS). Also, exploration of STEM and GIS-related careers are incorporated into the lesson plans.

Abstract:
This report provides methodologies and processes of data enrichment and enhanced accessibility of Waterborne Commerce and Statistics Center (WCSC) maintained databases. These databases house tabular and statistical data that reports on The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Civil Works Division National Waterway Network (NWN), which geospatially represents approximately 1,000 harbors and 25,000 miles of channels and waterways. WCSC is a division of The Institute for Water Resources (IWR). They have been tasked with the international collection, maintenance, and archival of all records involving commercial movements and commerce that occur on federal waterways. The current records structure is a large, tabular dataset and limited to the systems and processes put in place prior to the computing standards and capabilities available today. Methods have been tested and utilized to bring the tabular datasets into an optimized, modern geospatial network and expanded upon to create a higher resolution than previously maintained by the WCSC. This report will expand upon the applied methodologies to optimize data queries and the overall enhancement of the data system to allow for linkages to various other sources of information for commerce data enhancement for decision support assistance.

Post Pandemic Covid-19 Economic Recovery: Enabling Latin America and the Caribbean to Better Harness E-commerce and Digital Trade. Edited by Marcee Gómez. Abstract:
This report shows that Latin America and the Caribbean faces critical policy challenges going forward. It must accelerate the digital transformation to allow businesses and consumers to adapt to a new normal and leverage pandemic recovery to create stronger economies, and also tackle long-standing barriers to adopting digital technologies and bridging digital divides. These have impeded sustained and equitable economic growth even before the pandemic struck. This crisis should be a wake-up call for governments, the private sector, civil society, and international development partners to come together and take concerted actions to advance on consistent, long-term, and sustainable e-commerce strategies that are at the forefront of national and regional productive development agendas. Just as digital solutions allowed countries to overcome the increased role of distance within the context of the pandemic in shaping consumption and business, they should also be harnessed to increase regional economic integration beyond this emergency situation.
