Abstract:
AbstractThe purpose of this application is to conserve the well known generic name Nothosaurus Miinster, 1834 for a genus of sauropterygian reptiles by giving it precedence over the subjective synonym Conchiosaurus Meyer [1833], which predates it by a few months. The genus Nothosaurus is known from the upper Lower to uppermost Middle Triassic of Europe and the Middle East. The type species, N. mirabilis Münster, 1834, was first described on material from the lower Upper Muschelkalk (Late Anisian) at Bayreuth. The genus Conchiosaurus is known from a single incomplete skull from the Saurierkalk of Esperstädt (Germany), which corresponds to the base of the Middle Muschelkalk, Upper Anisian.

Abstract:
The International Commission on Zoological Nomenclature has voted in favour of a revised version of the amendment to the International Code of Zoological Nomenclature that was proposed in 2008. The purpose of the amendment is to expand and refine the methods of publication allowed by the Code, particularly in relation to electronic publication. The amendment establishes an Official Register of Zoological Nomenclature (with ZooBank as its online version), allows electronic publication after 2011 under certain conditions, and disallows publication on optical discs after 2012. The requirements for electronic publications are that the work be registered in ZooBank before it is published, that the work itself state the date of publication and contain evidence that registration has occurred, and that the ZooBank registration state both the name of an electronic archive intended to preserve the work and the ISSN or ISBN associated with the work. Registration of new scientific names and nomenclatural acts is not required. The Commission has confirmed that ZooBank is ready to handle the requirements of the amendment.

Abstract:
The 1999 edition of the International Code of Zoological Nomenclature (ICZN 1999; hereafter referred to as the Code) provides guidance to all users of zoological nomina (names of taxa) that have been established and are regulated. Its rules and recommendations are widely respected, in particular by taxonomists and editors who so assure its universality. The zoological nomenclature is a language that actually contains millions of words, i.e. the nomina of taxa, and this number increases daily. Dealing with such numbers is a challenge and it is not surprising that also conflicts arise. In fact, the effects of the provisions and recommendations of the Code may be in practice opposite to the goals of the International Commission of Zoological Nomenclature as declared within the Code.

Stiller (2019) described a new leafhopper genus, Discolopeus, with nine new species, but the original publication did not satisfy the criteria for availability for the proposed new taxa because repositories were not indicated for primary types as required by Article 16.4.2 of the International Code of Zoological Nomenclature (International Commission on Zoological Nomenclature 1999). The previously published (Stiller 2019) names are validated below and additional errors and omissions in the original figures are corrected.

The aphidologist community attending the Seventh International Symposium on Aphids in Fremantle (Western Australia, 2005) entrusted to us the preparation of a Part of the List of Available Names in Zoology devoted to the aphid genus-group taxa names, and this to be presented at the subsequent aphid symposium. During the course of our work (Nieto Nafría et al. 2009), we checked each genus to make sure its type species designation conformed to the International Code of Zoological Nomenclature (International Commission on Zoological Nomenclature 1999) ―henceforth The Code and The Commission―, and that these designations were correctly represented in the literature, especially the two most recent taxonomic catalogues (Eastop & Hille Ris Lambers 1976; Remaudière & Remaudière 1997).

Abstract:
Hernáez et al. (2020) described a new species of ghost shrimp, Neocallichirus pinheiroi, from northeastern coast of Brazil, Western Atlantic. Although the description and figures presented by Hernáez et al. (2020) fully characterize the new species, the journal issue in which the description appeared was published online only, and the article in which N. pinheiroi appeared did not include a ZooBank registration number (LISD), required for validation of new names in electronic-only publications [vide Art. 8.5.3 of the amended Code of the International Commission on Zoological Nomenclature (ICZN, 1999, 2012)]. As result, the name Neocallichirus pinheiroi Hernáez, Windsor, Paula & Santana, 2020, is not available according the International Code of Zoological Nomenclature (ICZN, 1999, 2012). Therefore, the present note serves to validate the name Neocallichirus pinheiroi by fulfilling the ICZN conditions for nomenclatural availability.
