Abstract:
In 1996, new editorial management took over International Psychogeriatrics (IP), only a year after the frequency of its publication increased from semiannual to quarterly. At the request of the editorial board, an assessment of the journal was conducted by comparing it to other journals in the field of geriatrics and, specifically, geriatric psychiatry. The evaluation included both a modified citation analysis and a review of journal content. The study was undertaken in order to identify the position the journal has within its discipline. Further, it was to identify the journal's strengths and weaknesses with the overall goal of recommending changes to IP's current content and format. IP ranked seventh of 15 journals in terms of impact factor. It is primarily oriented towards the publication of original research, and features fewer longer articles than others in the field. Adding a wider variety of content may increase the overall interest in the journal. However, these changes must be weighed against the goals of the journal and its reputation as a source of original research in the field of geriatrics.

Abstract:
As already disclosed to our community, the RAUSP Management Journal has recently been included in the list of the Scopus indexer, which is “the largest abstract and citation database of peer-reviewed literature: scientific journals, books and conference proceedings” (Scopus, 2019). We are pleased to be part of the Scopus collection now. This achievement can be considered as a stepping stone in the consolidation of our journal globally, and it demonstrates a consistent work in following the best international practices, consistently upgraded and more and more restrictive. It is also known that the internationalisation span in academic publishing is a critical factor in evaluating the quality of scientific journals. The more international the journal gets, the higher the impact of the journal in the international community. This means that for a journal to remain as part of an indexer, it is necessary to be constantly working to increase (or at least maintain) the journal’s relevance, regardless of the impact metrics (Scopus H-index, JCR or any other)[1]. Figure 1 shows data reported by Scopus for the RAUSP Management Journal. We can notice a growing trend in the number of international citations in the period analysed (from 2013 to 2018). In 2018, 41.5 per cent of RAUSP Management Journal citations come from international journals, much more than 4.2 per cent in 2013, before we started our internationalisation process. According to this trend, the international citations will soon outnumber the domestic citations to the journal.

Delirium seems to result from the interaction between pre-operative patient vulnerabilities and exposure to precipitating factors. Postoperative delirium (POD) is often observed in elderly patients undergoing orthopedic surgery, particularly hip fracture repair and may persist for several days postoperatively. Emergence delirium (ED) is known as an acute agitation and confusion occurring during or immediately following emergence from general anesthesia, in the OR orpost anesthesia care unit. Stress and inflammation are important triggers in the development of delirium.

Abstract:
Purpose The International Journal of Entrepreneurial Behaviour & Research is amongst the most prestigious entrepreneurship journals and rapidly gaining ascendancy as a premier journal. It is a relatively young journal being 24 years old and in 2018 achieved inclusion on the Social Science Citation Index. The purpose of this paper is to analyse the development of the journal from birth to its current trends in order to project future potential research trends. This will enable an understanding of potential future research topics that will be influential in the entrepreneurship research field. Design/methodology/approach A bibliometric analysis is conducted using the Scopus database to analyse the most cited articles, authors, institutions, country of origin and topic of article. This analysis is done with the view to analysing the changes that have occurred and the topics that are emerging in the journal. Findings Whilst initially a journal focussed more on European entrepreneurship research, there has been an increased internationalisation of the topics and countries represented in the journal. In addition, initially the focus was more on small business but this has widened to include more diverse topics related to entrepreneurship such as learning. Originality/value As evident in the bibliometric analysis and growth of citations, this journal has published innovative and path breaking studies that impact other journals. Thus, it is important to analyse how the journal has grown and what the future holds.

Abstract:
Studies of the publishing practices in mathematics education have situated sets of journals in tiers of quality. These reports document the rankings and prestige of only a subset of the wealth of journals available for publishing in mathematics education. We posit that there is value, quality, and purpose to be found in journals that present studies that are of value on a regional level, and that the studies are extremely important to the field. This is particularly important for journals published in languages other than English, and the studies referenced above are almost entirely English-language journals. In this paper we seek to demonstrate that we as a field of researchers cannot discount the value and role of these regional and small-country journals. Using a case study of one small European country, we quantitatively present the areas of strength and weakness in the publishing practices in mathematics education journals that are unlikely to be seen beyond the region of their publication. We conclude with recommendations to publish in areas where research is lacking as well as recommendations to the community at large to recognize the value of such outlets.

Abstract:
The International Journal of Homiletics will publish scholarly, peer-reviewed articles from homileticians around the world and will work on the establishment of an interactive component to stimulate ongoing dialogue among homileticians from different national and cultural contexts. At the same time, our journal is – as stated – not only international, but also ecumenical and even inter-religious. This is reflected in the composition of the editorial board, which consists of Christian and Jewish homileticians from five continents. The journal is co-edited by Marlene Ringgaard Lorensen (Professor of Practical Theology, University of Copenhagen, Denmark) and Alexander Deeg (Professor of Practical Theology, University of Leipzig, Germany) with the help of Ferenc Herzig (Wiss. Assistant, Leipzig University), our managing editor.

Abstract:
Welcome to the second issue of the International Journal of Homiletics! For our first two issues we have chosen to focus on the theme Preaching in Times of Transition. We invited some homiletical scholars to submit an article, but we have also accepted unsolicited articles addressing the theme. As a consequence, the present issue consists of seven articles from authors from India, the Netherlands, Fiji, the United States, Germany, as well as a joint article from scholars from Norway, Sweden and Denmark. The homiletic focus on transition uncovers the many shifts of perspectives and changes of traditional practices that characterize the theology and practice of preaching across the globe. At the same time this focus shows how different cultures and nations share the challenges of trying to cope with various groups of people in exile and transition. Since preaching is a boundary transcending genre in itself, we find that these different international contexts shed light on some common and some very distinct international homiletical insights. For the next issue of the International Journal of Homiletics, we invite unsolicited articles on any theme within the research field of homiletics – regardless of faith tradition. All articles will be peer reviewed and must be written in English. However, we are very keen on publishing articles in the author’s native language in addition to English. The articles in this issue In her article on “Exodus or Exile” Jerusha Matsen Neal analyzes hermeneutic shifts in a Fijian Methodist Church trying to cope with the effects of globalization, climate change, and military coups in the Fiji Islands. Through sermon analysis, Neal points to the potential of preaching as a way of making room for new understandings of place and direction in a world in transition. In another article, Theo Pleizier explores the development of homiletics in the Netherlands as a case-study for recent international homiletic thinking. Based on the material of doctoral theses published since the turn of the century, Pleizier focuses on the role of pneumatology, language, and empirical research in the development of recent international homiletical research. Leonora Tubbs Tisdale analyzes developments of historical transitions as she traces the itineraries of Early Women Preachers in the United States who were preaching long before women were officially ordained into ministry. Based on her study of Quaker, evangelical, and Holiness Women in the 18th, 19th, and early 20th centuries, Tisdale reflects on this history in relation to preachers on the margins today. Bryan Nash discusses the practice of topical preaching in light of postmodern transitions. He analyzes the potential of a topical preaching approach that embraces otherness and conversation rather than allowing only one text to be heard at the exclusion of all others. Preaching among contexts of growing numbers of refugees runs as a common thread through several of the articles in this issue. In his portrait of an Indian context, Alfred Stephen, analyzes the challenges of refugees who are forcefully dislocated from their home countries outside India and relocated in Tamilnadu. Stephen suggests a three dimensional narrative approach to preaching as a way to address the existential experiences of trauma and alienation. Two other articles that focus on the situation of refugees in relation to preaching are interrelated: firstly Alexander Deeg presents a new European research project in which homileticians from Greece, Hungary, the Netherlands, Germany, Norway, Sweden and Denmark have collected sermons from various European countries and analyzed them with regard to the so called European ‘Refugee Crisis.’ Deeg provides a brief overview of each of the seven studies. Thereafter, the results of the three Scandinavian studies are presented in a joint article written by Tone Stangeland Kaufmann, Carina Sundberg, Marlene Ringgaard Lorensen and co-authors from Norway, Sweden and Denmark. The research project touches upon the fraught topic of preaching and politics as it traces the influence of public discourse on preaching as well as the reverse influence of preaching on public discourse. Finally the group of articles are rounded off with a ‘homiletical squib’ in which David M. Stark discusses the dilemma of “Preaching Politics” in light of the current North American presidential administration seen from the perspective of Germany where Stark has spent the past year as part of his Ph.D. studies. We are also very glad to welcome David Stark as the the English language editor for the IJH.

Abstract:
AbstractCancer research is needed in the Arab world to provide evidence to healthcare workers and health policy makers. This chapter examines the literature on cancer research productivity in the Arab world, and the output of the 22 countries with respect to the number of publications, main types of cancers studied and top journals that researchers aim to publish their findings in. Although the Arab region is lagging in its cancer research output, it is reassuring that productivity has been on the rise in the last decade. There are great variations between countries in their contribution to cancer research, with Egypt and Saudi Arabia contributing the most and sub-Saharan Arab countries the least. Breast cancer is the most researched cancer in the Arab countries, overshadowing other leading cancers. The top journals that researchers published their work in are the Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention, Pan African Medical Journal, Saudi Medical Journal, Tunisie Medicale, the Gulf Journal of Oncology and the Journal of the Egyptian National Cancer Institute. The last two occupied the fifth rank equally. All these journals are Q3 journals except for the first, which is a Q2 journal. The challenges and barriers facing researchers in the Arab world should be examined and sources of cancer research funding expanded. Collaborations with researchers in international academic institutions should be encouraged to improve the quantity and quality of cancer research.

TGMOTSOB was founded in 1537 and 1929 and renovated by the 37th Sultan of Buton. Over time TGMOTSOB has experienced changes in the appearance of the building. Changes in form in architecture fall within the scope of synchronic and diachronic. Changes in architecture and morphology correlate synchronically and diachronically. This correlation is important to explore to explain changes in ideas and meanings in the history of the building. This systematic review aims to: 1) gain a deeper understanding of the architectural morphology at TGMOTSOB; and 2) This systematic review can identify the instruments used to measure TGMOTSOB architectural morphology. This research concludes that TGMOTSOB can be studied by architectural morphology with building materials, building color, and changes in building shape based on factors of need and demand, technology, and political needs. Keywords: Changes in building shape, building materials, building colour.

Abstract:
In this paper we address the question whether (i) the Dutch dental research portfolio reflects the dental care demand, and whether (ii) the results of this research does reach the dental care professionals. In order to answer these questions, we analyzed the content of the Dutch Journal of Dentistry (NTvT), a Dutch language professional journal which explicitly aims at disseminating useful knowledge to dental professionals. The research topics addressed in the journal were compared with (i) dental publications written by authors with a Dutch affiliation in international journals and with (ii) expenditures in the various types of oral healthcare. The analysis shows topical change over time, with more emphasis in NTvT on topics as social dentistry, and less attention for basic science topics. At the same time, the Dutch dental research portfolio (reflected by publications in international journals) does not reflect that trend. In addition, it appears that the largest domains of care with the highest share of oral healthcare expenditures (e.g. cariology and prevention) have the lowest attention in research. This applies to both international publications, as to the research disseminated through the professional journal NTvT.

Abstract:
Aim/Purpose: Labeling a journal as “predatory” can do great damage to the journal and the individuals that have contributed to it. This paper considers whether the predatory classification has outlived its usefulness and what might replace it. Background: With the advent of open access publishing, the term “predatory” has increasingly been used to identify academic journals, conferences, and publishers whose practices are driven by profit or self-interest rather than the advancement of science. Absent clear standards for determining what is predatory and what is not, concerns have been raised about the misuse of the label. Methodology: Mixed methods: A brief review of the literature, some illustrative case studies, and conceptual analysis. Contribution: The paper provides recommendations for reducing the impact of illegitimate journals. Findings: Current predatory classifications are being assigned with little or no systematic research and virtually no accountability. The predatory/not predatory distinction does not accommodate alternative journal missions. Recommendations for Researchers: The distinction between legitimate and illegitimate journals requires consideration of each journal’s mission. To serve as a useful guide, a process akin to that used for accrediting institutions needs to be put in place. Impact on Society: Avoiding unnecessary damage to the careers of researchers starting out. Future Research: Refining the initial classification scheme proposed in the paper. Abstract:
The Journal of Business Research is a leading international journal in business research dating back to 1973. This study analyzes all the publications in the journal since its creation by using a bibliometric approach. The objective is to provide a complete overview of the main factors that affect the journal. This analysis includes key issues such as the publication and citation structure of the journal, the most cited articles, and the leading authors, institutions and countries in the journal. Unsurprisingly, the USA is the leading region in the journal although a considerable dispersion exists, especially during the last years when European and Asian universities are taking a more significant position.

Abstract:
The Serbian Journal of the Medical Chamber is published by the Medical Chamber of Serbia, with the University of Belgrade Institute for Medical Research as co-publisher. The Journal annually publishes a minimum of forty previously unpublished original scientific research articles, professional papers, reviews, short communications, editorials, meta-analyses, case reports, and other articles, in all areas of medicine, pharmacy, and dental medicine, in both Serbian and English. It is published four times a year under an open-access policy, using a double-blind peer-review process, and is available in both print and electronic formats. The Journal fosters continued professional development and free and open exchange of scientific knowledge, research results, breakthroughs, and clinical experience by providing open, free-ofcharge, and unlimited access to all articles immediately upon online publication and charging no fees for article submission or processing. Eminent national and international academicians, professors, and experts constitute the Editorial Board, Advisory Board, and Editorial Office of the Journal. In 2023, the Journal received the M54 categorization from the Ministry of Science, Technological Development and Innovation of the Republic of Serbia. It is indexed by the Serbian Citation Index, and data on the Journal can be found on KoBSON. Responding to one of the greatest global public health challenges in modern history, the Journal dedicated one of its earlier issues to the COVID-19 pandemic, inviting medical professionals to contribute to the understanding of this disease by sharing research results and clinical experience. The Journal continues to provide a platform for various nationally, regionally, and internationally relevant public health issues by publishing articles focusing on topics such as HIV/AIDS, smoking, immunization, infectious disease control, preventive measures in primary health care, the prevalence of depression, non-medical prescription drug use, safety and health issues pertaining to the medical profession, etc. Celebrating the fourth anniversary of its first issue, as a relatively new journal, the Serbian Journal of the Medical Chamber strives to complement the activity of other Serbian medical journals with a much longer and more established tradition, such as the Serbian Journal of Public Health, published by the Institute of Public Health of Serbia Dr Milan Jovanović Batut.

Abstract:
This study compares citation-based and expert-based journal metrics as predictors of peer-assessed research quality based on 154,826 journal articles submitted to UK’s Research Excellence Framework (REF) 2021. The Finnish expert-based Julkaisufoorumi (JUFO) level ratings of journals determined by expert-panels per field produce scores that correlate more strongly with REF scores than those based on citation-based Journal Impact Factor (JIF) or Journal Citation Indicator (JCI) Quartiles. This holds true at aggregate levels of 34 Subject areas, 157 Higher Education Institutions (HEI), and 1,888 Units of Assessment (UoA). Especially non-field-normalised JIF-based scores correlate poorly with REF scores. All types of journal metrics are more aligned with expert-based REF scores at the highest aggregate level of HEIs and agree less at the lower aggregate level of UoAs and Subject areas.

Bak, Ane Karoline, Vanessa van den Boogaard, and Deanndre Chen. A Tax by Any Other Name? Conceptions of Taxation and Implications for Research. Institute of Development Studies, 2025. https://doi.org/10.19088/ictd.2025.008.

Full text
Abstract:
As taxation has become a prominent issue in international development policy, much research has focused on taxpayers’ perceptions and experiences of taxation using cross-country comparative survey data. However, insufficient attention has been paid to issues related to content validity and the cross-context comparability of tax-related concepts key to analyses of many topics, including relationships between willingness to pay taxes and perceptions of corruption, state legitimacy and public service provision. While serious questions have been raised about the data quality in some quantitative work in African studies, little attention has been given to the specific problems of using cross-country survey data. We encourage critical reflection concerning the use of tax-related data across diverse contexts. We show that a tax by any other name does not retain the same meaning across contexts. We argue that taxation studies, particularly survey-based research, should be informed by a deeper understanding of the contextual meanings ascribed to taxation. Greater prioritisation of conceptual analysis, mixed methods approaches and local language research will strengthen the measurement and interpretive validity of taxpayer perception data, and enhance understanding of taxpayers’ experience and interactions with tax systems. Abstract:
The world is facing a rapid increase of air conditioning of buildings. It is the motivation of Annex 80 to develop, assess and communicate solutions of resilient cooling and overheating protection. Resilient Cooling is used to denote low energy and low carbon cooling solutions that strengthen the ability of individuals and our community to withstand, and prevent, thermal and other impacts of changes in global and local climates. This report summarizes the structure and the outcomes of Annex 80 – Resilient Cooling of Buildings, which was conducted as a five-year international research project within the IEA Technical Collaboration Programme EBC – Energy in Buildings and Communities. Annex 80 covered the spectrum of the following four technology groups: - Reducing heat gains to the indoor environment and people environments - Removing sensible heat from the indoor environment - Increasing personal comfort apart from space cooling - Removing latent heat from indoor environment Its outcomes are published in seven official Annex Deliverables. In addition, partial results of Annex 80 have been published in numerous scientific journals. This document provides a comprehensive overview of all deliverables and directs readers to the locations where all related publications can be accessed.

Bellissant, Eric, Isabelle Boutron, Carole Chapin, et al. Ensuring that the results of all clinical trials in France are posted. Ministère de l’enseignement supérieur et de la recherche, 2025. https://doi.org/10.52949/56.

Full text
Abstract:
The Working Group on “Transparency and the publicising of the results of health research”, was appointed by the French Ministry in charge of Research, in conjunction with the French Ministry in charge of Health. It seeks to address the problem of publication bias, which is the tendency to prioritise the publication of positive results. However, if they are based on an incomplete, skewed understanding of research results, this bias may result in erroneous health policy decisions. This report makes recommendations towards all stakeholders involved in clinical research, and covers the entire scientific process and its funding. It places particular emphasis on the importance of posting clinical trial results in the registry used to declare them, within a maximum one-year delay after the trial ends. This sort of development is crucial in order to reduce publication bias. The posting of results involves the making public of aggregated data for the main results of a trial (i.e. descriptions of trial’s participants and their characteristics, primary and secondary results, and adverse events). This posting is not considered to be a peer-reviewed scientific publication, and is independent of any potential publication in a scientific journal. The posting of results is an ethical obligation, as stated by the World Health Organisation (WHO), the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) and the World Medical Association. It is also a legal obligation that is subject to precise European regulations (as in the United States of America). Above all, the Working Group recommends that all stakeholders should communicate more effectively about the issues involved in posting clinical trial results and assist with the introduction of a clear means of organising these postings within reasonable timeframes. It underlines the benefit of having national indicators produced by the French Open Science Monitor, which should be applied to each sponsor, in order to encourage them to correct any potential shortcomings. Publishing guidelines should enable good practices to be implemented in the area. The group recommends that the posting of results be integrated into clinical research training programmes, into the financial arrangements for clinical trials in France, into the collective and individual assessment procedures in clinical research, and that the issue should be considered in institutions’ strategies relating to scientific integrity. To facilitate posting and improve quality, the group suggests that an open-source tool should be developed to generate the template of results to be posted. This tool could be implemented taking inspiration from both European regulations and the procedure in place in the U.S. clinical trial registry, ClinicalTrials.gov, in order to avoid introducing unnecessary complexity and divergence in the sponsors’ work. The group suggests that sponsors should get involved and undertake educational work in three phases to ensure that the results are posted: raising awareness before launching the trial, issuing a warning as soon as the trial ends, and, where necessary, issuing a reminder from twelve months after the trial ends. The group also suggests that the National Research Coordination Committee (CNCR) should be assigned the task, for a transitional period of 12 to 24 months of supporting sponsors to implement the Working Group’s recommendations. Similarly, the working group proposes that the Agence Nationale de Sécurité du Médicament et des Produits de Santé (ANSM) (French National Agency for the Safety of Medicines and Health Products) should issue a reminder of posting obligations during its inspection missions and when communicating about clinical trials. The group also suggests expanding the national and European regulations to all clinical trials. Indeed, there is no ethical, scientific or public health rationale that justifies the current situation where nonpharmacological clinical trials are exempt from the obligation to post their results. Lastly, the functionalities of the European CTIS registry need to evolve to meet the expectations of the international scientific and editorial communities regarding the posting of results. Furthermore, as CTIS does not cover all clinical trials, the question of where to post the trials concerned will arise.
