Abstract:
ABSTRACTQuantitative real-time PCR (qPCR) is increasingly being used for the detection of bovine leukemia virus (BLV) proviral DNA. Nevertheless, quality control for the validation and standardization of such tests is currently lacking. Therefore, the present study was initiated by three Office International des Epizooties (OIE) reference laboratories and three collaborating laboratories to measure the interlaboratory variability of six already developed and available BLV qPCR assays. For that purpose, an international panel of 58 DNA samples reflecting the dynamic range of the majority of the

AbstractObjectiveTo establish a laboratory iodization quality assurance system to support small-scale salt production facilities in India and to assess the level of agreement for the internal quality assurance (IQA) and external quality assurance (EQA) protocols.DesignOperational research. The IQA and EQA programme was established in the year 2008. Agreement between field laboratories and the reference laboratory for estimation of iodine content of salt from 2008 to 2011 was assessed. Agreement was assessed using the χ2 test, kappa statistics and the Bland–Altman plot.SettingSmall-scale salt p

A comparative collaborative study was performed in 15 laboratories to validate the use of motility enrichment on Modified Semisolid Rappaport-Vassiliadis (MSRV) medium for Salmonella detection in cocoa and chocolate products. The use of MSRV was compared with a cultural procedure using Rappaport-Vassiliadis broth and selenite cystine broth as selective enrichments. Artificially contaminated milk chocolate samples as well as Salmonella reference capsules added to Salmonella-free cocoa and milk chocolate were used as test samples. Motility enrichment produced 347 positive test results compared t

ObjectiveThe purpose of the study was to confirm the hypothesis of possible intestinal viruses circulation in wastewater in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, Ukraine.IntroductionThe main reservoir of intestinal viruses in the environment is human feces and contaminated wastewater. Sewage contamination preconditions further contamination of surface water serving as a source of water supply [2,7,8]. High resistance to physical and biological exposures ensures long-term survival of the viruses in water with various type and level of contaminants, especially in sewage.
