Abstract:
Abstract The Internet has a strong influence on our daily communication and language use. Its continuous growing makes us face the world characterized by networks of connections that span multi-continental distances. The metaphor of global village seems to be not merely a futuristic theory, but pure reality. People can communicate worldwide with each other, reach all kinds of information to get up-to-date, as long as they respect the basic demand of globalization, which means the use of a common language (i.e. English). But this tendency hides a serious issue if we try to observe globalization from the aspect of local and regional cultures and languages, especially those in minority position. The study deals with the language use of the Hungarian minority in Vojvodina, with special focus on Netspeak and the regional features of language forms used on the Internet. It also analyses the attitudes of a group of students towards the influence of the Internet on speech and language. This part of the survey is based on questionnaires.

Abstract:
AbstractThis article investigates the enregisterment of an internet-specific language variety and its features. The enregisterment of internet language is explored through several sites of metadiscourse: academic scholarship about computer-mediated communication, uses of the metalinguistic termsnetspeakandchatspeakin print media, and online comment threads about language and the internet. This metadiscourse provides evidence of a shared concept of internet language as comprising distinctive written features, primarily acronyms, abbreviations, and respellings. Internet language's enregisterment emerges from standard language ideology and deterministic views of technology, where the construal of these features as both nonstandard and internet-specific articulates the perceived distinctiveness of internet interactions. Yet empirical evidence shows that these features are relatively rare in instant messaging conversations, one form of interaction to which internet language is attributed; this discrepancy has implications for the application of indexical order to enregisterment. (Enregisterment, language ideology, computer-mediated communication, internet, metadiscourse, indexical order, Standard English, technological determinism, mass media)*

Abstract:

Abstract:
Distance learning plays an important role in modern education, including the study of foreign languages. In this regard, the objectives of this study have been formed. Namely, to conduct a survey among university students on the topic of remote learning of the English language. Based on the obtained results, the con-clusions are drawn, possible problems are formulated and recommendations are given that can help eliminate shortcomings in the remote English language learn-ing. A total of 650 students from Chinese and Russian universities in their fourth year participated in the survey. The survey consisted of nine questions. As the re-sults of the study show, students have a positive attitude towards distance Eng-lish learning, but consider it insufficiently represented in their educational institu-tions. To solve this problem, several options are proposed: popularizing distance learning of foreign languages, explaining the importance of informal methods of distance language learning, and creating online language forums based on educa-tional institutions.

Abstract:
In the modern world, where borders are gradually “erased”, an educated person should know at least a spoken foreign language. For a long time, mastering various types of reading and mastering professionally directed vocabulary was the goal of teaching foreign languages at universities, which led to a passive ability only to understand texts, and not to produce their own statements. Teachers of a foreign language who work with students of technical specialties faced the task in a short time to teach, first of all, functional English for effective interpersonal and business communication in a foreign language environment and gradually form students’ ability to use a foreign language for practical work in the specialty, improving their professional level, achieving career goals.

Abstract:
This paper describes a Kone Foundation funded project called "The Finno-Ugric Languages and The Internet" together with some of the achieved results. The main activity of the project is to crawl the internet and gather texts written in small Uralic languages. The sentences and words of the found texts will be assembled into a freely available corpus. Crawling is done using the open source crawler Heritrix, which is developed by the Internet Archive. Heritrix crawls through the pages and passes the found texts to a language identifier. We are using a state of the art language identifier, which has been further developed within the project and has been evaluated using 285 languages. We describe the language identification evaluation results concerning the 34 Uralic languages known by the language identifier. We also describe the initial observations and results from the first five large crawls which were done in the national internet domains of Finland, Sweden, Norway, Russia, and Estonia.

Abstract One of the most interesting phenomena observed in the Polish language today is the unquestionable, non-rigorous ability of the language to adapt to the latest social trends like the development. This article provides an overview of the selected most network communication’ important forms of linguistic expression of contemporary Internet Polish language in the communicative aspect. The basic formations and structures used by Internet users are characterized and the current state of the Polish language of online communication is presented, paying attention to the less and less noticeable disproportions between communication in the Internet space and traditional interpersonal communication. The excerpted forms, based on the well-known and completely new abstract units of the dictionary system, allowed a synthetic analysis of an interesting linguistic and communicative phenomenon, which is the marriage of both traditional and new-fangled structures of the Polish language with modern and flexible forms of digital network communication.

The article provides a comparative analysis of the literary language and Internet slang, examines the reasons for the use of English borrowings and their impact on the Russian language, and also provides the results of a statistical method and a psycholinguistic experiment involving a questionnaire methodology to study the degree of mastery of English-language borrowings by young people (14-35 years old) and representatives of the older generation. In the course of the study, the authors analyze various aspects of the use of slang by young people, its impact on communication with the older generation and possible ways to overcome conflicts. After considering different points of view on the issue of "purity" of the Russian language, it is concluded that the use of English borrowings is useful for enriching language experience and expanding language skills, while maintaining a balance between the use of youth slang and preserving the uniqueness of the Russian language, which, being a dynamic and open system, will be replenished with new words under the influence of progress, abandoning unclaimed lexical units.

Abstract This article analyses the function of the multiword lexeme ya me dirás tú as used in Internet forums. We defend the notion that ya me dirás tú is a highly polyphonic discourse marker. Its function is evidential as of the moment in which the speaker uses this unit to present a subjective appraisal as a logical truth within the framework of an assertion. We therefore focus on evidentiality from not only a lexical but also a textual-discursive standpoint. Internet forums are the ideal type of text for studying a unit like ya me dirás tú, which is typically used in colloquial language.

Abstract:
Internet resources play an important role in modern education, including the study of foreign languages at the faculty of electrical engineering. Nowadays new information technologies are intensively introduced into all spheres of our life, including the educational process. In this regard we need to develop methods for using computer information technologies in foreign language learning. The use of Internet resources in foreign language lessons is a relevant direction in the methodology that requires new approaches and non-standard solutions. The aim of the study was to investigate the effectiveness of using internet resources in learning foreign languages at the university educational process. More and more language departments, institutes and schools are now using virtual environments to promote and support language learning. The use of a computer and Internet resources in English classes makes it possible to individualize learning as much as possible, make the learning process creative; increases motivation and interest in learning a foreign language and contributes to the effective formation of foreign language speech competence. The article also touches upon the theoretical substantiation of the application of internet resources in the educational context. Furthermore, the students’ opinions are presented on how internet resources are convenient in learning foreign languages. The survey involved 147 students of Zhangir khan West Kazakhstan Agrarian and technical University. It was revealed that the integration of online communication tools has positive effects on the formation and development of speaking and writing skills in English.

Abstract:
The English language and the Internet, both separately and taken together, are nowadays well-acknowledged as powerful forces which influence and affect the lexico-grammatical characteristics of other languages world-wide. In fact, many authors like Crystal (2004) have pointed out the emergence of the so-called Netspeak, that is, the language used in the Net or World Wide Web; as Crystal himself (2004: 19) puts it, ‘a type of language displaying features that are unique to the Internet […] arising out of its character as a medium which is electronic, global and interactive’. This ‘language’, however, may be differently understood: either as an adaptation of the English language proper to internet requirements and purposes, or as a new and rapidly-changing and developing language as a result of a rapid evolution or adaptation to Internet requirements of almost all world languages, for whom English is a trendsetter. If the second and probably most plausible interpretation is adopted, there are three salient features of ‘Netspeak’: (a) the rapid expansion of all its new linguistic developments thanks to the Internet itself, which may lead to the generalization and widespread acceptance of new words, coinages, or meanings, hundreds of times faster than was the case with the printed media. As said above, (b) the visible influence of English, the most prevalent language on the Internet. Consequently, (c) this new language tends to reduce the ‘distance’ between English and other languages as well as the ignorance of the former by speakers of other languages, since the ‘Netspeak’ version of the latter adopts grammatical, syntactic and lexical features of English. Thus, linguistic differences may even disappear when code-switching and/or borrowing occurs, as whole fragments of English appear in other language contexts. As a consequence of the new situation, an ideal context appears for interlanguage or multilingual word formation to thrive: puns, blends, compounds and word creativity in general find in the web the ideal place to gain rapid acceptance world-wide, as a result of fashion, coincidence, or sheer merit of the new linguistic proposals.

The technologies, allowing to recognize words within the character texts and to mark them as belonging to a particular part of speech in the isolating syllabic Chinese language are applied within the process of creating numerous text corpora, often accessible on the Web. Speech recognition and speech synthesis technologies based on AI are used in machine translation, on the official websites for Standard Mandarin learners, as well as in spoken corpora. Among the latter are dialect corpora created in Taiwan and Hong Kong and available online.

Abstract:
Slavic constructed languages have been widely neglected by interlinguistics and Slavic linguistics so far; however, the number of projects for a common Slavic language has been growing since the 17th century, beginning with Juraj Križanić’s Ruski jezik (1666) and continuing up to Arnošt Eman Žídek’s Slovan (1940) and beyond. The construction of Slavic languages has recently been experiencing a revival through the spread of the internet since the 1990s. This has manifested itself mainly in three extensively elaborated projects with their own websites and user communities: Slovio (1999), Slovianski (2006) and Novoslovienski (2010). These three projects — one of them schematic, two of them naturalistic — are presented in the historical context of Slavic language construction from the 17th century up to the present and analyzed structurally in terms of their writing systems, their grammars and the composition of their lexicons. Although their chances of implementation in practice in the context of European language policy are currently rather marginal, they should be valued as a unique phenomenon in Slavic cultural history.

Abstract:
This study investigates the role of the internet in bridging language gaps and enhancing English as a Foreign Language (EFL) instruction within Solo's multilingual context. The focus is on how internet resources aid students in navigating between Bahasa Jawa, Bahasa Indonesia, and English, reflecting the multilingual dynamics of EFL classrooms. Utilizing a qualitative approach, semi-structured interviews were conducted with students from grade XII public senior high schools in Solo, Central Java. The findings reveal that the internet plays a significant role in facilitating language learning by providing access to diverse resources and interactive platforms. It is reported that internet tools help them create more engaging and culturally relevant lessons, which cater to the multilingual backgrounds of the students. Students highlighted that online resources offer immediate feedback, diverse learning materials, and opportunities for practicing English in real-world contexts, which are crucial for mastering a foreign language. Moreover, the study shows that the internet supports students in developing digital literacy skills, which are essential for effective language learning in the 21st century. The use of internet-based learning tools helps students seamlessly transition between languages, enhancing their overall language proficiency and confidence in using English. This research underscores the importance of integrating internet resources in EFL education to address the unique linguistic needs of students in multilingual settings. Future studies should explore the long-term impacts of internet use on language acquisition and its potential integration with traditional teaching methods to create a more holistic and effective EFL learning environment.

Abstract:
The article analyses the linguistic means of modern Internet poetry having millions of readers and actively developing on the Internet. Being a kind of mass literature, the Internet poetry “complicates linguistic reality”, influencing the literary language “by virtue of its mass character” (Solganik, 2010). Therefore, the study of such “alternative” art seems relevant: it can later become the material for a new poetic theory becoming urgent nowadays. The author took as the material for the study poetic websites (“Stihi.ru”, “Izba-Chitalnya”, etc.) and thematic groups in social networks (“Rifmach”, “Filashki”, “Artichoke”, etc.). The purpose of the article is to identify the specificity of the language of the Internet poetry, analyze cases of unconventional use of language means in modern Internet poetry. Undoubtedly, not only Internet authors are looking for new forms and methods, but it is the Internet poets who consciously violate all the norms - the norms of versification, of the language, of text structure in order to reveal the potential of the language. The study revealed a lot of experiments with genres and language tools, for example in the graphic design of the text (for instance, graphic symbols in an unconventional function), in specific features of vocabulary, word formation, morphology and syntax.

Abstract:
ABSTRACTAs of August 1998, the Japanese language was the second most widely used language other than English on the Internet. It has from time to time been argued that the way in which the Japanese view their language contributes to a kind of language nationalism which functions to emphasise the separateness of the Japanese people from others in the affective as well as linguistic sense. In an extension of this debate, some have suggested that the continued use of the Japanese writing system in the computer age acts to reinforce a barrier between Japan and the rest of the world. This paper examines the issues involved in the language nationalism view of the Japanese script and argues that the use of characters on the Internet should be seen as nothing more than the continuation of an existing infrastructure.

Abstract:
In this article the results of the research, devoted to the status of the language of the Internet, conducted by the author are described. Nowadays there are two leading points of view on the problem of the article. Some linguists look upon this linguistic phenomenon as an independent language, which is used in on-line communication. Other linguists treat the language of the Internet as a type of slang or jargon used by a limited group of professionals. We consider the language of the Internet as a language for specific purposes (LSP) along side with the language of geometry and medicine. But for the first time in the history of linguistics an LSP influences the standard language so much. The research done proves it.
