Thesis, Brest, 2017. http://www.theses.fr/2017BRES0041/document.
Full textCloud computing is often the most referenced computational model for Internet of Things. This model adopts a centralized architecture where all sensor data is stored and processed in a sole location. Despite of many advantages, this architecture suffers from a low scalability while the available data on the network is continuously increasing. It is worth noting that, currently, more than 50% internet connections are between things. This can lead to the reliability problem in realtime and latency-sensitive applications. Edge-computing which is based on a decentralized architecture, is known as a solution for this emerging problem by: (1) reinforcing the equipment at the edge (things) of the network and (2) pushing the data processing to the edge.Edge-centric computing requires sensors nodes with more software capability and processing power while, like any embedded systems, being constrained by energy consumption. Hybrid hardware systems consisting of FPGA and processor offer a good trade-off for this requirement. FPGAs are known to enable parallel and fast computation within a low energy budget. The coupled processor provides a flexible software environment for edge-centric nodes.Applications design for such hybrid network/software/hardware (SW/HW) system always remains a challenged task. It covers a large domain of system level design from high level software to low-level hardware (FPGA). This result in a complex system design flow and involves the use of tools from different engineering domains. A common solution is to propose a heterogeneous design environment which combining/integrating these tools together. However the heterogeneous nature of this approach can pose the reliability problem when it comes to data exchanges between tools. Our motivation is to propose a homogeneous design methodology and environment for such system. We study the application of a modern design methodology, in particular object-oriented design (OOD), to the field of embedded systems. Our choice of OOD is motivated by the proven productivity of this methodology for the development of software systems. In the context of this thesis, we aim at using OOD to develop a homogeneous design environment for edge-centric systems. Our approach addresses three design concerns: (1) hardware design where object-oriented principles and design patterns are used to improve the reusability, adaptability, and extensibility of the hardware system. (2) hardware / software co-design, for which we propose to use OOD to abstract the SW/HW integration and the communication that encourages the system modularity and flexibility. (3) middleware design for Edge Computing. We rely on a centralized development environment for distributed applications, while the middleware facilitates the integration of the peripheral nodes in the network, and allows automatic remote reconfiguration. Ultimately, our solution offers software flexibility for the implementation of complex distributed algorithms, complemented by the full exploitation of FPGAs performance. These are placed in the nodes, as close as possible to the acquisition of the data by the sensors† in order to deploy a first effective intensive treatment

Full textThe aim of this two years master’s thesis in library and information science is to study how children and librarians recommend books through the website Barnens bibliotek. In the scope of this aim it also tries to answer the following questions: What qualities in books do children and librarians respectively emphasize when they write book recommendations? How do they formulate the recommendations? And finally, how do their respective recommendations differ?
To examine these aspects a total of 50 book recommendations were chosen and analysed through an hermeneutic approach. Out of these 50, 30 were written by children and 20 were written by librarians. The recommendations were analysed through Louise Rosenblatt's theoretical framework concerning literary responses combined with Alan C. Purves' och Victoria Rippere's model of literary elements. The theoretical workings of Aidan Chambers were also used for drawing conclusions about how to connect the results of literary responses to everyday library work whether it is in a library or on the Internet.
The main results were that children turn inwards referring to themselves and their personal feelings when communicating a literary experience, while librarians turn outward communicating a literary content. Both parts do seem clearly aware that they are mediating a literary experience to a third part, which of course is expected of the librarians but a bit unexpected in the case of the children. Both parts refer basically to the same qualities when recommending books, even though they do it in different ways. And finally regarding the formula of writing a book recommendation, librarians tend to keep to a set structure of literary responses while children are more likely to mix the set of literary responses. The results also point to how important it is for library workers to understand the readers to better develop collections and programs that adress and respond to reader’s interests.
Ferreira, Adriana Gomes Nogueira. Universidade Federal do CearÃ, 2014. http://www.teses.ufc.br/tde_busca/arquivo.php?codArquivo=11814.
Approach health promotion in relation to sexuality and STD/HIV/AIDS in adolescents is a challenge in which beliefs, opinions, personal and collective values should be considered. Thus, given the need to build a critical-reflexive space with adolescents within the church, it is pointed out that building a website about sexuality and STD/HIV/AIDS , facing adolescents involved in religious groups, can contribute for a reflection on the topic and facilitate the understanding and development of a critical and autonomous conception of sexuality, faith and health. In this context, the study has the following objectives: to describe the process of creating a website called Teen Chat, which provides information about sexuality and STD/HIV/AIDS; validate the appearance and content of the website Teen Chat with experts in area of health education, theology, computing and design, as well as Catholic teenagers. Study type research and methodological development and validation, developed according to the stages of construction of digital learning material proposed by Falkembach, which consisted of: planning and analysis, modeling, implementation, evaluation and maintenance, and distribution. The evaluation was performed by 14 experts in the fields of nursing, health education, theologians, computing and design and five teenagers. The study followed the ethical-legal aspects related to research involving human subjects in accordance with the CAAE 05941212.1.0000.5054. From the focus groups emerged categories: Internet is information, entertainment and communication; Feelings awakened by the use of the Internet; On the Internet, there are things I like and do not like, and teen chat should be informative and attractive as well. The website covering meetings: religion, adolescence, sexuality, STD/HIV/AIDS prevention, leading questions, and information about the site, music, online bible and a topic on "How to date a boy or girl from God" were also included tools "contact us" and "discussion Forum". In the validation by the judges- content experts the VCI was satisfactory, since most of the items was ≥ 0.80, however the items dealing with authority, use of graphics, images, information and research source used had VCI ≤ 0,80. It is noteworthy that all suggested changes, such as reorganization of content, including references, graphical changes, among others. Validation of teenagers, all items had VCI ≥ 0.80, they expressed satisfaction and learning to navigate the website. Most of the suggestions issued by the evaluators was incorporated into the final website. Therefore, it is concluded that the website Teen Chat is valid and available for use on the World Wide Web, or Internet, thus becoming innovative technology aimed at teenagers, especially Catholics, who can contribute to the knowledge and reflection on issues related to sexuality and STD/HIV/AIDS. It is noteworthy, however, the need to evaluate its effectiveness with Catholic teenagers. Stresses the importance of this Web site as an educational tool in health, in order to strengthen actions to prevent STD/HIV/AIDS, solidifying interdisciplinary practice, as required in nursing, primarily aimed at the promotion of adolescent health.

Full textBackground: Adolescents and young people of the 21st century represent the first generation togrow up with the new digital technology and view it as an integrated part of their lives. Previousstudies show that young people value the potential of the Internet for acquiring information thatotherwise might be difficult to obtain. They also recognize the potential of the Internet for meetingand developing relationships with other people. Young people face diverse challenges during theirtransition from childhood to adulthood and need to have easy access to health information and socialsupport. Developing the potential of the Internet as a source of health information and social supportrequires increased information about young people's own views and preferences. The aim of thestudy was to deepen the knowledge about young people’s views on the role of the Internet inpromoting health and wellbeing. Method: Focusgroupdiscussions were conducted and included 26youths between 16 and 20 years of age, divided into six groups. Collected data was analyzed usingmodified grounded theory. The results show ambivalence among young people regarding the role ofthe Internet in promoting health and well-being. Although young people report a positive view of theInternet and their experience with it, they were very aware of its negative aspects and tried to findstrategies to minimize those aspects. Despite this ambivalence, the young people in this studyconsidered the Internet as an essential part of their lives and a natural source of health informationand social interaction. Conclusions: Efforts should be made to minimize the negative aspects of theInternet in order offer young people access to health information and social support in ways that suitsthem.

Full textIntroduction: Using of on-line tools in face-to-face (F2F) courses shall be consider a potencial facilitator of continuing education, due to its interactive capability, asynchronous nature, and lack of geographic limits. Objectives: a) identify marker concepts to clinical practice of health promotion, b) develop on-line teaching materials, and c) evaluate use and impact of those tools on the learning (at a blended experience basis) on health promotion. Methods: Teaching materials on-line (blogs, e-mails list, crosswords) were developed with free softwares. At 2008, the researcher performed the role of tutor. This study was a qualitative-quantitative survey, envolved support documents of F2F experience and 211 learners of extension course of FMUSP about practice of health promotion. The qualitative data included documental analysis, focus group and OSCE Objective Structured Clinical Examination. The quantitative measures were taken by test on the conclusion of the module, and also a questionnaire about personal and professional behaviors, besides acess and familiarity with computer. Results: a) choice of 10 interprofessional markers concepts, b) webliography (34 links) and interactive tools, c) the interest in use of new technology rises during classes. The presence of tutor has contributed to increase number of blogs visits and number of learners who participated of e-mails list. The involvement in both tools was amplified before the tests. A modest gain of knowledge occurred, with minor effect between physicians. The confidence for practices of screening, couseling and preventive medicine were improved, especially among specialization learners. The motivation for change personal behaviors, related of nutrition and physical activity, increases too. Qualitative analysis put on highlights the four ways to learn proposed by Jaques Delors (learn to learn, learn to do, learn to live together, and learn to be). However, few results were associated with technology use. Conclusion: identification of markers concepts has been made. A webliography about health promotion has been allowed to health professionals as select relevant interprofessional scientific literature. The progressive inclusion of new technology neither have changed the gain of knowledge, nor have modified personal or professional behaviours. Nevertheless, the tutor presence with interactive teaching materials on-line demonstrated differences in ways of learn to learn and learn to live together

INTRODUCTION. Radio is an effective medium for health knowledge dissemina-tion. Internet radio is an alternative that can help expanding this dissemination. The gray literature describes experiences in health communication using internet radio that can be a prime body of knowledge for model construction. These expe-riences are particularly valuable as a point of reference for expanding the Federal University of São Paulo (UNIFESP) communication activities of disseminating health knowledge to the Brazilian community. OBJECTIVES. To construct and evaluate an internet-based radio model for health knowledge dissemination. ME-THODS. The study was carried out in six steps: 1) literature review of studies on radio as an educational medium in Brazil; 2) search of reports of previous projects developed on radio and education and radio and health; 3) systematic review on radio and health promotion; 4) trial with students of the Open Universi-ty of the Third Age (UATI) at UNIFESP; 5) construction of an internet-based radio model, and 6) evaluation of the model constructed. RESULTS. The literature re-view and reports of previous projects served as a base for the construction of the proposed model. The trial with UATI students provided data for the production of contents focusing on the third age. The systematic review confirmed the hypo-thesis that radio is an effective vehicle for health knowledge dissemination. The web portal was made available to the audience (http://www.radiosaude.unifesp.br) with 30 audio products and the average ap-proval rates were as follows: credibility and comprehensibility, 100.0%; useful-ness, 96.8%; immediate approval, 87.0%; and SUS usability, 86.5%. CONCLU-SIONS. An internet-based radio model for health knowledge dissemination, known as Radio UNIFESP Web, was proposed and approved by expert and lay audiences. This project allows to expanding UNIFESP’s social function as health knowledge disseminator.

Full textCOSMO FEST (CF) is a very small independent film festival held in Tokyo, Japan, that is now in its fourth year after starting in 2012 as a student project. This study, which is best thought of as a pilot study, investigates ways in which CF can make use of the Social Network Sites Twitter and Facebook as a promotional tool for attracting attendees to the festival. The data used for the study are Twitter tweets (and retweets) and Facebook posts (and likes) found on the Twitter and Facebook pages of three other Japan-based film festivals: the Tokyo Student Film Festival, The Chigasaki Film Festival (a small city-based festival) and the much larger Tokyo International Film Festival. By looking carefully at this small set of data a surprisingly useful set of insights emerged that can inform the Social Media strategy of CF in the future. ChiFF among these is the weak emphasis on “Theme” as an organizing principle each year that these festivals exhibit in general and through their use of Twitter and Facebook. This finding suggests the potential for CF to brand itself as distinct from other film festivals by establishing a strong thematic orientation each year. Other insights gained from the study were to do with the research process itself, particularly the potential for an open-minded and multi-dimensional probing of a small set of data to yield rich results.

Full textThis research revolves around the independent cumbia groups studied from two comunications perspectives: digital marketing and public relations. One of the main characteristics of these artists is self-management, that is why social networks and streaming services are two relevant tools for the diffusion of their songs, reason why it is interesting to know how they manage to do it with few resources, many of them, free and available to most people. Thus, this article will seek to describe the strategies that independent cumbia groups use for communicating their music on the internet and thus be able to understand how the digital media have contributed to the promotion of their songs. For this, as a methodology, the naturalistic interpretive paradigm was used, which is based on obtaining information through the actors involved in their natural context; the approach was qualitative and because a phenomenon is studied, a phenomenological design was used. Finally, interviews were conducted with members of the independent Lima and Arequipa cumbia groups.

Full textBackground: Type 2 diabetes (T2D) is a major challenge for public health authorities in Canada and regular physical activity is a key factor in the management of this disease. Given that less than half of people with T2D in Canada are sufficiently active to meet the recommendations, effective programs targeting the adoption of regular PA are in demand for this population. Many researchers argued that web-based tailored interventions targeting PA is a promising and effective avenue for sedentary populations like Canadians with T2D, but few aimed to describe the detailed development of this kind of intervention. Objective: This master’s thesis aims to describe the systematic development of the Diabète en Forme (DEF) web-based tailored intervention promoting regular PA among adult Canadian Francophones with T2D, which can be used as a reference for health professionals interested in developing similar interventions. This master’s thesis also explores the integration of theoretical components derived from the I-Change Model, Self-Determination (SDT) Theory and Motivational Interviewing (MI), a potential path for enhancing the effectiveness of tailored interventions on PA adoption and maintenance. Method: The intervention was built using an adaptation of the program-planning model for tailored interventions developed by Kreuter and his colleagues. An additional step was added to the model to evaluate the intervention’s usability prior to the implementation phase. Results: An eight-week intervention was developed using a theoretical framework integrating the three models previously mentioned. The key components of the intervention include a self-monitoring tool for PA behaviour, a weekly action planning tool and eight tailored motivational sessions based on attitude, self-efficacy, intention, type of motivation, PA behaviour and other constructs and techniques. Usability evaluation, a step added to the original program-planning model, helped to make several improvements to the intervention prior to the implementation phase. Conclusion: Usability evaluation is an essential step in the development of a web-based tailored intervention in order to make pre-implementation improvements. The effectiveness and relevance of the theoretical framework used for the intervention will be analyzed following the process and impact evaluation. Implications for future research are discussed.

Sales Promotion (SP) traditionally is one of the most important tools of marketing communication or promotion. Recently, internet marketing is used widely across the business world. Due to the fact that power of personal selling is strictly reduced and restricted in internet or on-line marketing, the role of sales promotion has increased a lot. Many internet stores choose various sales promotion practices and even formulate sales promotion strategy to guide their SP practices. While most of the existing internet marketing papers study single SP practice, this research tries to study integrated internet SP practice and use it as the main construct. This research tries to develop suitable classification of internet SP strategy. Furthermore, this research explores main influencing factors of internet SP strategy, including characteristics of internet uers. The SP effects include short effect, consumer value, satisfaction and loyalty will also be investigated. The research findings are as follows: 1. Internet SP types are related to internet SP effectiveness, including short-term effect, consumer value, satisfaction and loyalty. 2. SP duration is related to internet SP effectiveness. 3. Some fits between internet SP types and SP duration are significantly related to internet SP effectiveness, including attractiveness of short-term effects and consumer value. 4. Internet user characteristics are significantly related to preferred internet SP categories. 5. Internet user characteristics are significantly related to internet SP effectiveness, including sex and average monthly income.
