Abstract:
This diploma thesis is focused on the analysis of internal and external image of the company ABC. This firm has not wished to be specified. The main goal of this thesis was to analyze image of the company ABC operating on the logistics market in the Czech republic. This goal was fulfilled and according to the results, firm has a positive image from the employee and customer point of view. The reader can find final references in the application part of this thesis. First minor goal was to help reader to identify key points of this topic and extend his knowledge about the image of company. The reader can acquire broader information about mentioned topic in the theoretical part and following sections of this diploma thesis improve her/his ability related to the image of specific company. Second minor goal was to describe internal employee point of view and present it to the employer, company ABC. This goal was accomplished as there is a lot of important information and data included in the replies to the questionnaire. Third minor goal was to characterize Czech logistics market and define competitive companies based on the knowledge of employees and customers of the enterprise ABC. The company is considered as one of the main firms but is not the market leader. It was not possible to analyze customer point of view since the internal NPA file did not contain it or the data was incomplete. The author of this diploma thesis used own questionnaire and internal NPA file received by the company ABC to extract the results. He also used a combination of the literal transcription method and following cluster creating technique to construe the conclusions.

Competition for talent is heating up and will probably intensify, since demographic trends make it increasingly difficult for companies to replace valued employees when they retire. In response, many companies are trying to sharpen the way they market themselves to recruits, by applying branding techniques to recruitment. For a company to exploit its brand effectively when it fishes for talent, it must think of recruits as customers, determine which corporate attributes matter most to specific types of recruits, and understand how best to reach them. This diploma thesis analyzes Belgian business graduates' aspirations in terms of first employment and their perception of our company as potential employer and brings constructive and creative recommendations on how to improve its position as employer of choice.

Sammanfattning Titel: Högt i tak - En studie om intern marknadsföring och arbetsmotivation inom fastighetsmäklarbranschen Syfte & forskningsfråga: Syftet med uppsatsen är att öka förståelsen för hur anställdas arbetsmotivation influeras av intern marknadsföring. Vi vill med utgångspunkt i fastighetsmäklarbranschen, analysera, kartlägga och lyfta fram hur anställdas arbetsmotivation påverkas av: den interna kommunikationen, interna relationer samt digitaliseringens utveckling. Utifrån denna uppsats syfte, formulerades följande forskningsfråga: Hur kan intern marknadsföring användas som ett verktyg för att påverka anställdas arbetsmotivation? Metod: Studien är baserad på en kvalitativ forskningsmetod då vi var intresserade av bakomliggande faktorer och åsikter av respondenterna samtidigt som vi ville skapa en djupare förståelse kring forskningsområdet. Vidare blev ansatsen av induktiv karaktär då vi efter bästa förmåga ville angripa studien utan att vara helt styrda av tidigare forskning. För att få en enhetlig infallsvinkel på forskningsområdet valde vi att genomföra 6 intervjuer med anonyma respondenter från fastighetsmäklarbranschen. Slutsatser: Utifrån vår analys har vi kunnat tolka en närhet mellan den valda teorin och den empiriska datainsamlingen. Vidare har vi, med stöd av vårt syfte, analyserat, kartlagt och lyft fram 8 stycken centrala motivationsfaktorer. Det framkom även att intern marknadsföring måste motsvara och uppfylla de förväntningar, önskemål och behov som finns inom en organisation.

Abstract:
This thesis focuses on the theoretical definition and description of issues related to customer satisfaction and loyalty, and also affects the appearance and behavior of the company's overall customer satisfaction. It also defines the basic methods and techniques of marketing environment analysis firm principles and a questionnaire survey. Theoretical knowledge is applied to specific manufacturing company, described the current situation, and including basic analysis of external and internal environment, concluded with a summary SWOT analysis. Based on a questionnaire survey found customer satisfaction, the company unveiled a wish and shortcomings perceived by customers. Use these outputs are set concrete proposals leading to a better company image and increase customer satisfaction.

Resumo: O objetivo desta dissertação é analisar a influência de diferentes fatores que conferem saliência a determinadas informações no processo de leitura de hipertextos jornalísticos brasileiros. Nossa hipótese se baseia na existência de duas saliências principais: a saliência visual e a saliência subjetiva. A existência de saliência visual questiona a idéia bastante corrente de que o hipertexto oferece ao leitor caminhos de leitura totalmente livres. Acreditamos que o leitor, na escolha por links ou informações, no processo de sua leitura, possa ser influenciado pela saliência visual, marcada pelo destaque dado, por exemplo, pelo tamanho e localização de uma fotografia na tela ou pelo enquadramento em close de uma pessoa retratada. Entretanto, outros fatores (que não os visuais) podem ser norteadores na escolha do leitor por determinadas informações durante a leitura de textos e hipertextos: fatores subjetivos, tais como objetivos pré-definidos de leitura, conhecimento prévio e/ou discursivo e experiências pessoais ou afetivas do leitor. Denominamos de saliência subjetiva o maior ¿peso¿ dado pelo leitor a certas informações textuais segundo alguns desses fatores subjetivos, durante o processo de (hiper)leitura. A análise empírica oferece exemplos ilustrativos dos dois tipos de saliência
Abstract: The aim of the work is to analyse different factors that make some information more salient than others during the process of brasilian digital newspaper reading. Two different types of salience are being considered: visual salience and subjective salience. The possibility of constructing visual salience during the process of hypertext construction questions the widely accepted idea that hypertext offers a total freedom of choice to readers. We believe that the reader's choice for specific links or informations may be highly influenced by the visual salience constructed for instance through the specific size of images and location in the screen. However, to understand the choices of links or informations during the reading process one must also considerate the role of more subjetive factors: the personal history of the reader or his/her purpose for reading may also affect issues realized as relevant during reading. Such perception may also guide his/her choices. We label this second type of salience as subjective salience. The empirical study offers some example of both types of salience

A reputação de uma organização é composta pelas perceções dos seus públicos internos - colaboradores diretos e indiretos - e dos seus públicos externos - clientes, fornecedores, media, comunidade local (Davies, Chun, Silva & Roper 2001). Em organizações business-to-business do setor industrial, grande parte dos colaboradores não tem contacto direto com stakeholders externos (fornecedores, entre outros). Deste modo, podia ser expectável que a comunicação interna não se relacionasse com a opinião que os stakeholders externos têm das organizações. Esta dissertação procura compreender se existe ligação entre a comunicação interna e a reputação organizacional de uma empresa industrial do setor logístico e de produção de componentes automóveis. Para mapear e aprofundar perceções acerca da comunicação interna, reputação organizacional e a ligação entre os dois constructos, foi realizado um estudo qualitativo, composto por entrevistas semiestruturadas ao diretor-geral, à diretora de recursos humanos, a seis colaboradores da organização que contactam diretamente com diferentes stakeholders e a um fornecedor. Os resultados indicam que há ligações entre a comunicação interna e a reputação da organização, tanto ao nível da identidade (perceções dos colaboradores) como da imagem (perceções dos stakeholders externos).
The reputation of an organization is composed of perceptions of its internal public - direct and indirect employees - and its external stakeholders - customers, suppliers, the media, local community (Davies, Chun, Silva & Roper 2001). In business-to-business industrial sector organizations, most employees have no direct contact with external stakeholders (suppliers, among others). Thus, it could be expected that internal communication had no impact on the opinion that external stakeholders have about the organizations. This dissertation seeks to understand whether there is a link between internal communication and organizational reputation of an industrial company in the logistics sector and automotive components production. To map and strengthen perceptions of internal communication, organizational reputation and the link between the two constructs, it was conducted a qualitative study consisting of semi-structured interviews to the director general, the director of human resources, six employees of the organization who contact directly with different stakeholders and a supplier. The results indicate that there are links between internal communication and the organization's reputation, both in terms of identity (perceptions of employees) as image (perceptions of external stakeholders).

Nos dias de hoje, uma reputação corporativa forte é pressuposto de sucesso para a competitividade e eficiência nos negócios, interferindo na capacidade de atrair e manter clientes, empregados e investidores de uma organização. Cada vez mais, práticas de comunicação interna estão atreladas a responsabilidade social a fim de gerar um melhor desempenho corporativo. A partir disso, esta dissertação objetiva, pela percepção do público interno de uma empresa de petróleo, verificar a relação entre os fatores da comunicação interna e as práticas da reputação a fim de propor diretrizes para a gestão dos veículos de comunicação. A pesquisa pode ser classificada como exploratória, bibliográfica, descritiva, de cunho dedutivo e abordagem quali-quantitativa. Adotou-se o método estudo de caso por meio de triangulação de múltiplas fontes de evidências para a coleta de dados: revisão teórica da literatura, análise documental, observação direta e questionário survey aplicado com especialistas de uma empresa de petróleo. Os resultados descritivos e inferenciais foram analisados por meio do pacote de software estatístico R. A pesquisa foi validada internamente por meio do cálculo do alfa de Cronbach e externamente por meio do teste de normalidade, do teste de Mann-Whitney, do teste de Kruskal-Wallis e análise de correlação entre os constructos e suas variáveis. A discussão dos resultados buscou propor ações de melhoria para a gestão de veículos de comunicação interna, o relacionamento com os stakeholders e a reputação da empresa. Por fim, prevê-se que esta pesquisa será de interesse para profissionais e acadêmicos, pois a convergência desses conceitos e análises pode ser útil como benchmarking para organizações e empreendedores, de diversos setores.
These days, a strong corporate reputation is assumption of success for competitiveness and business efficiency, interfering in the ability to attract and retain customers, employees and investors of an organization. Increasingly, internal communication practices are linked to social responsibility in order to generate a better corporate performance. From this, this dissertation aims, by the perception of internal public of an oil company, verify the relationship between the factors of internal communication and practices of reputation in order to propose guidelines for the management of communication vehicles. The search can be classified as exploratory, descriptive, bibliographical, and deductive approach oriented quali-quantitative. The adopted method case study through triangulation of multiple sources of evidence for the collection of data: theoretical literature review, document analysis, direct observation and questionnaire survey applied with an oil company experts. The descriptive results and inferenciais were analyzed through the statistical software package R. The survey was validated internally by means of calculating Cronbach's alpha and externally through the normality test, Mann-Whitney test, Kruskal-Wallis test and correlation analysis between the constructs and their variables. The discussion of results sought to propose improvement actions for the management of internal communication vehicles, the relationship with stakeholders and the company's reputation. Finally, it is anticipated that this research will be of interest to professionals and academics, is the convergence of these concepts and analyses can be useful as benchmarking for organizations and entrepreneurs from various sectors

Abstract:
Purpose: The purpose of this thesis is to identify internal marketing strategies that are contributing to an externally success of a rebranding process. The study hopes to answer what strategies are important during this process and give companies, trying to rebrand, tools to work with. Methodology: The study is carried out as a qualitative case study and are based on deep interviews. We chose deep interviews to give the respondents an opportunity to speak freely about the subject from their perspective. Empirical foundation: Our empirical material is based upon interviews with people who have strategic positions and marketing related titles. Conclusions: Our research concludes that the employees of an organization need to be included in the rebranding process and that their vision of the corporative activities are crucial in how external stakeholders perceive the changes. It is also necessary to have clearly defined goals and that research on all levels is a must in order to succeed.

Abstract:
O teste de raios X é um teste rápido, simples, não destrutivo e de alta precisão, que possibilita examinar com detalhes, a morfologia interna da semente, identificar áreas danificadas, sua localização e tipos de danos. Uma das abordagens atuais da pesquisa sobre análise de imagens de sementes radiografadas é verificar até que ponto a relação entre o grau de desenvolvimento embrionário e o espaço disponível na cavidade interna da semente está associada ao desempenho da semente. Na literatura há diversos trabalhos com resultados promissores para diferentes espécies; porém, para sementes de citros são escassas estas informações. Neste sentido, os objetivos desta pesquisa foram: a) avaliar a eficiência do teste de raios X em relacionar a morfologia interna das sementes com a germinação das sementes de citrumelo \'Swingle\'; b) verificar a possibilidade de utilização do teste de raios X para avaliar a poliembrionia das sementes de citrumelo \'Swingle\'; c) verificar se há relação do espaço livre na cavidade interna com o desempenho das sementes de citrumelo \'Swingle\'. Foram utilizados sete lotes de sementes tratadas de citrumelo \'Swingle\'. A pesquisa foi dividida em três experimentos: experimento I - avaliação da morfologia interna das sementes de por meio de raios X; experimento II - avaliação da poliembrionia das sementes por meio do teste de raios X; experimento III - avaliação do potencial fisiológico das sementes por meio dos testes tradicionais de vigor e avaliação do espaço livre da cavidade interna das sementes por meio do software ImageJ. O primeiro e o segundo experimento foram conduzidos em uma época de avaliação, porém, o terceiro experimento foi conduzido em duas épocas, espaçada em oito meses de armazenamento (0 e 8 meses), durante esse período as sementes foram armazenadas em câmara fria com a temperatura de 5°C e umidade relativa do ar de 75 %. O teste de raios X foi realizado nos três experimentos e relacionado com a germinação, porém no experimento II foi relacionado também com o metódo direto (contagem dos embriões) e no experimento III as imagens radiográficas foram analisadas por meio do software ImageJ para determinar o espaço livre das sementes. Para determinar o potencial fisiológico, os lotes de sementes foram submetidos a testes de germinação e de vigor (primeira contagem de germinação, velocidade de germinação, tempo médio de germinação, emergência de plântulas em areia, comprimento e massa de matéria seca da parte aérea e raiz de plântulas), foi avaliado também número médio de plântulas por sementes e a taxa de poliembrionia de cada lote. Verificou-se que a análise de imagens de raios X permite indentificar danos internos na semente com efeitos negativos na germinação; é um método eficiente para avaliar a poliembrionia das sementes; e a alta porcentagem de sementes com espaço livre interno superior a 22,1% prejudica o potencial germinativo de sementes de citrumelo \'Swingle\'.
X-ray test is a fast, simple, non-destructive, high-precision test that allows you to examine in detail the internal morphology of the seed, identify damaged areas, their location and types of damage. One of the current approaches to X-ray seed imaging research is to ascertain the extent to which the relationship between the degree of embryonic development and the available space in the internal cavity of the seeds is associated with seed performance. In the literature there are several works with promising results for different species; however, this information is scarce for citrus seeds. In this sense, the objectives of this research were: a) to evaluate the efficiency of the X-ray test in relation to the internal morphology of the seeds with the germination of \'Swingle\' citrumelo seeds; b) to verify the possibility of using the X-ray test to evaluate the polyembryony of the \'Swingle\' citrumelo seeds; c) to verify if there is a relation of free space in the internal cavity with the performance of \'Swingle\' citrumelo seeds. Seven lots of treated \'Swingle\' citrumelo seeds were used, the research was divided into three experiments: experiment I - evaluation of the internal morphology of seeds by X-ray; experiment II - evaluation of seed polyembryony by X-ray test; experiment III - evaluation of the physiological potential of the seeds by traditional tests of vigor and evaluation of the free space of the internal cavity of the seeds by of ImageJ software. The first and second experiments were conducted at a time of evaluation, but the third experiment was conducted in two seasons, spaced in eight months of storage (0 and 8 months), during which time the seeds were stored cold chamber with temperature of 5 °C and relative humidity of 75 %. The X-ray test was performed in the three experiments and related to germination, but in experiment II it was also related to the direct method (counting of the embryos) and in experiment III the radiographic images were analyzed by of the ImageJ software to determine the space of the seeds. In order to determine the physiological potential, seed lots were submitted to germination and vigor tests (first germination count, speed of germination, mean time germination, emergence of seedlings in sand, length and dry mass of aerial part and root of seedlings), we also evaluated the average number of seedlings per seed and the polyembryony rate of each lot. It was verified that X-ray image analysis allows identification of internal damage in the seed with negative effects on germination; is an efficient method to evaluate the polyembryony of the seeds; and the high percentage of seeds with internal free space greater than 22.1% impairs the germination potential of \'Swingle\' citrumelo seeds.

Vid utvecklandet av en webbsida krävs spetskompetens i kunskaper relaterade till Internet. Företag tvingas därför i många fall att inhämta denna spetskompetens från externa webbyråer vid utvecklandet av sina webbsidor.

I och med detta hamnar ett stort ansvar för denna kommunikationskanals marknadsföring hos webbyråerna. Webbyråerna får rollen som kommunikatörer av företagens image.

För att imagen via webbsidan ska förmedlas på rätt sätt blir det viktigt att webbyråerna får tillgång till information angående företagets målgrupp och marknadsföringsstrategier.

Därav blir kommunikation och samarbete mellan webbyrån och företag viktiga faktorer för webbsidans förmåga att leverera en korrekt utformad imageförmedling.

Vi har med hjälp av olika kommunikations- och planeringsfilosofiteorier tagit fram en teoretisk referensram som legat till grund för vår analys och utvärdering av sambandet mellan samarbete och webbsidans förmåga att förmedla image.

Vårt arbete som bygger på intervjuer och ett frågeformulär visade att det fanns ett samband mellan webbsidors förmåga att förmedla företagets imageegenskaper och det samarbete ur vilket webbsidan utvecklats.

De slutsatser vi kom fram till var att samarbetet vid utvecklandet av en webbsida bör innehålla faktorer som är förknippade med Normanns processtyrningsfilosofier.

Abstract:
Internal Symmetry Networks are a recently developed class of Cellular Neural Network inspired by the phenomenon of internal symmetry in quantum physics. Their hidden unit activations are acted on non-trivially by the dihedral group of symmetries of the square. Here, we extend Internal Symmetry Networks to include recurrent connections, and train them by backpropagation to perform a variety of image processing tasks, smoothing, sharpening, edge detection, synthetic image segmentation, texture segmentation and object recognition. By a large number of experiments, we find some guidelines to construct appropriate configurations of the net for different tasks.

Abstract:
The colour reproduction of images viewed across the Internet is an area of significant importance due to the recent increase in the levels of on-line shopping and the number of digital imaging libraries accessible over the Internet. The quality of images viewed on-line can be affected by variables such as the display and viewing conditions. This thesis describes a programme of work that investigates existing methods for controlling the colour and tone reproduction of images accessed over the Internet. The reproduced colour of images viewed across the Internet may be affected by transformations applied to provide consistent colour reproduction among different web browsers and operating systems for 8-bit depth graphics card adapter display systems. In this work objective measures (ΔE*ab) are used to determine the range of colours that can be reproduced with perceptible colour differences. It is shown that a 24-bit depth image displayed under the 8-bit depth setting of a graphics card adapter results in lower colour differences than the 216 colour image displayed under the same bit depth setting. The standard RGB colour space (sRGB) has been proposed as a means for obtaining accurate reproduction of colour and tone for images displayed across the Internet provided that they are viewed under the reference display and viewing conditions defined in the standard. A survey has indicated that the typical display and viewing conditions of a sample of Internet users frequently deviate from the reference sRGB standard. Psychophysical experiments to determine the perceptibility and acceptability of differences in CRT monitor gamma under controlled and uncontrolled display and viewing conditions are reported. The point of subjective equality (PSE) and the just noticeable difference values of gamma for the imperceptibility and acceptability of gamma differences in images are estimated. A survey of the gamma settings of a sample of computer monitors is reported. It is shown that, due to deviations in the gamma settings, an sRGB image displayed on 50% of the monitors surveyed will be judged as perceptibly different from a monitor complying with the sRGB standard, while 40% of monitors will be judged as acceptably similar, although observers may detect a difference.

La radiothérapie interne sélective est une thérapie émergente très peu invasive du carcinome hépatocellulaire, quatrième cause de décès par cancer dans le monde. Des millions de microsphères chargées en Yttrium 90 sont injectées dans l'artère hépatique par un cathéter. Actuellement, leur distribution lors d'une injection est estimée par l'injection préliminaire d'un radiomarqueur, ce qui peut se révéler trop approximatif. Un traitement personnalisé permettrait une concentration des radiations à la tumeur tout en épargnant le tissu sain environnant. Dans ce travail je me suis intéressée au développement d'un modèle numérique, pour une simulation spécifique à chaque patient des trajectoires des microsphères, dans le but d'optimiser le traitement. Le protocole clinique d'imagerie a été exploité et optimisé pour l'extraction de données spécifiques patients telles que le foie, les tumeurs, l'artère hépatique et le flux sanguin. Les tissus et l'artère hépatique (jusqu'à un diamètre de 0.05 mm) sains et malins ont été simulés. Cela nous permet de simuler la distribution des microsphères dans le tissue hépatique, validée grâce à la scintigraphie post-traitement. Il est supposé ici que les microsphères se distribuent de façon proportionnelle au flux sanguin, lequel est modélisé par la loi de Poiseuille. Des simulations plus approfondies en mécanique de fluides numérique du flux sanguin ont ensuite été réalisées dans l'artère hépatique du patient. Pour cela nous avons utilisé et comparé les méthodes des Volumes Finis (Ansys Fluent) et de Lattice Boltzmann (programme développé dans le laboratoire). Le transport des microsphères a été simulé dans l'artère hépatique du patient avec la méthode des volumes finis, et dans une géométrie simplifiée avec la méthode de Lattice Boltzmann. Une séquence IRM de contraste de phase a aussi été optimisée pour l'extraction de la vitesse du sang dans l'artère hépatique, dans le but de valider le modèle numérique
Selective internal radiation therapy using Yttrium-90 loaded glass microspheres injected in the hepatic artery is an emerging, minimally invasive therapy of hepatocellular carcinoma, which is the fourth cause of mortality in the world. Currently, microspheres distribution can be only approximately predicted by the injection of a radiotracer, whose behaviour may be different. A personalised intervention can lead to high concentration dose in the tumour, while sparing the surrounding parenchyma. This work is concerned with the development of a patient-specific numerical model for the simulation of microspheres trajectories and treatment optimisation. Clinical imaging protocol is utilised and optimised in order to extract patient’s specific data such as liver, tumours, hepatic artery and blood flow. Normal and malignant hepatic arterial vasculature and tissues are simulated down to a vessels diameter of 0.05 mm. A preliminary simulation of microspheres distribution in liver tissue is proposed and validated against post-treatment scintigraphy. Microspheres are here supposed to distribute proportionally to blood flow, which is computed based on Poiseuille’s law. More precise computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations of blood flow in the patient’s segmented arteries are performed. The Finite Volume Method (Ansys Fluent) and the Lattice Boltzmann Method (in-house developed software) are used to this purpose and their efficacy is compared. Microspheres transport is simulated in the patient’s hepatic artery using the FVM, and in a representative geometry using the LBM method. A phase contrast MRI sequence has been optimised in order to extract blood velocity from the hepatic artery and validate CFD simulations

The continuous expansion of technology, broadband connectivity and the wide range of new devices in the IoT cause serious concerns regarding privacy and security. In addition, in the IoT a key challenge is the storage and management of massive data streams. For example, there is always the demand for acceptable size with the highest quality possible for images to meet the rapidly increasing number of multimedia applications. The effort in this dissertation contributes to the resolution of concerns related to the security and compression functions in image communications in the Internet of Thing (IoT), due to the fast of evolution of IoT. This dissertation proposes frameworks for a secure digital camera in the IoT. The objectives of this dissertation are twofold. On the one hand, the proposed framework architecture offers a double-layer of protection: encryption and watermarking that will address all issues related to security, privacy, and digital rights management (DRM) by applying a hardware architecture of the state-of-the-art image compression technique Better Portable Graphics (BPG), which achieves high compression ratio with small size. On the other hand, the proposed framework of SBPG is integrated with the Digital Camera. Thus, the proposed framework of SBPG integrated with SDC is suitable for high performance imaging in the IoT, such as Intelligent Traffic Surveillance (ITS) and Telemedicine. Due to power consumption, which has become a major concern in any portable application, a low-power design of SBPG is proposed to achieve an energy- efficient SBPG design. As the visual quality of the watermarked and compressed images improves with larger values of PSNR, the results show that the proposed SBPG substantially increases the quality of the watermarked compressed images. Higher value of PSNR also shows how robust the algorithm is to different types of attack. From the results obtained for the energy- efficient SBPG design, it can be observed that the power consumption is substantially reduced, up to 19%.

Ce travail présente les résultats de recherches sur le contrôle d'écoulement dans les liquides diélectriques. L'objectif est d'étudier les potentialités du contrôle d'écoulement au moyen d'actionneurs ElectroHydroDynamiques. La 1re partie de cette thèse est notamment consacrée à l'étude bibliographique générale du contrôle d'écoulement et des techniques disponibles pour la mesure de vitesse de fluide. La méthode PIV est choisie pour caractériser l'écoulement de panache chargé. Cependant la présence d'un champ électrique intense dans un liquide diélectrique remet potentiellement en question l'hypothèse selon laquelle les traceurs suivent fidèlement les mouvements du liquide. Des études théorique et expérimentale permettent de préciser les conditions d'un traceur idéal et de choisir le meilleur type d'ensemencement pour l'huile de silicone. La 2nde partie de ce travail est consacrée à l'étude du contrôle d'écoulement sur un profil d'aile NACA0015 à ultra-bas Reynolds (Re < 5000). Une étude bibliographique présente les stratégies de contrôle d'écoulement autour de profil d'aile ainsi que les types d'actionneurs EHD appliqués aux liquides diélectriques. L'écoulement naturel en champ de vitesse moyen puis instationnaire est caractérisé et comparé à l'écoulement contrôlé. Le calcul de la force à partir d'un bilan de quantité de mouvement (Navier-Stokes), permet d'estimer les efforts hydrodynamiques appliqués par le fluide sur le profil immergé. Des polaires de portance et de traînée sont obtenues et permettent de quantifier l'efficacité de l'actionneur EHD. Enfin, les mécanismes de contrôle sont précisés et mettent en lumière les potentiels et les limites de l'actionneur
This work presents results of research on flow control in a dielectric liquid. The aim is to demonstrate our ability to control flow by means of ElectroHydroDynamic actuation. The first part of this PhD thesis is dedicated to a general overview of flow control and the methods available for measuring fluid velocity. The PIV method is selected to charaterize the flow of a charged plume. However, the presence of a high electric field in the dielectric liquid might bring into question the validity of using PIV, which is based on the fact that tracers accurately follow fluid movement. Theoretical and experimental studies were performed to find the proper conditions for using an ideal tracer that guarantees the accuracy of velocity measurements. This part enables us to choose the best seeding particle in silicone oil. The second part of this work is devoted to the study of flow control on a NACA0015 wing profile at ultra-low Reynolds numbers (Re < 5000). A bibliographic study presents strategies of flow control around wing profiles and in addition deals with different EHD actuators for dielectric liquids. Mean velocity fields and unsteady velocity fields of baseline flow are characterized and compared to controlled flow. The calculation of force based on the conservation of momentum (Navier-Stokes equations) enables us to estimate the hydrodynamic stresses applied by the fluid to the immersed profile. Lift and drag polarities are obtained to quantify the efficiency of the EHD actuator. Finally, the mechanisms of control are clarified and highlight the potential and limits of the EHD actuator for flow control applications

Esta tese tem como objeto central as representações, por palavras ou imagens, que jovens recém ingressos na universidade fazem da Internet. O trabalho tomou como premissa básica a imagem como representação visual, seja ela desenho ou texto, apoiando-se em autores como Ave Appiano, Erwin Panofsky, Jacques Aumont, Lorenzo Vilches, W. J. T. Mitchell, entre outros, que pensam a imagem e texto como uma unidade. A pesquisa, desenvolvida com alunos da PUC-Rio, usou um desenho metodológico que se desenvolveu em dois momentos sucessivos. No primeiro momento, foi realizado um estudo de caráter exploratório sobre o uso e representações de diferentes mídias e, em particular, da Internet, por parte dos universitários. O segundo momento foi constituído por uma investigação de caráter qualitativo, tendo como estratégias de coleta de dados o grupo focal de vivências proposto por Fern e Morgan e a entrevista. Os dados colhidos no questionário aplicado no primeiro momento da investigação possibilitaram o levantamento das representações mais freqüentes da Internet, numa amostra de 995 jovens, representações essas que foram usadas como disparadores da discussão havida dentro da primeira parte do segundo momento, qual seja a dos grupos focais cujos membros foram escolhidos dentro de uma amostra intencional. A segunda parte da dinâmica realizada nos grupos permitiu obter, também, produções em desenho ou colagens realizadas por cada um dos componentes dos grupos focais, representando o que o jovem espera da Internet. Todas essas representações, expressas por palavras e/ou por imagens foram analisadas, primeiramente, de forma específica dentro de cada conjunto. Tendo como referência estudos como os de Derrick de Kerckhove, Lev Manovich, Pier Cesare Rivoltella, Roger Fidler, Sherry Turkle, Steven Johnson, foi realizado igualmente a análise do cruzamento de todos os dados empíricos recolhidos, análise esta que se deu em torno de alguns eixos temáticos: a naturalização da Internet, a sua representação simbólica em termos de velocidade, informação, comunicação , diversão ,globalização. A Internet está muito presente no cotidiano desses jovens, o que pode ser verificado através da grande sintonia que demonstram ter, além de uma postura crítica em relação à Internet, tomada como uma unidade. Aspectos positivos e negativos com relação ao seu uso, suas vantagens, desvantagens, limitações, utilidade, e até seus perigos foram constatados. Outra constatação desta pesquisa foi a evidente mudança de hábitos cotidianos, escolares ou sociais para esses universitários, ratificando a importância do alfabetismo visual, nos termos propostos por Donis Dondis, para esta nova forma de construção do conhecimento.
This thesis aims mainly at the representations, through words or images, which college freshmen make of the Internet. This paper has as a basic premise image as a visual representation, be it a drawing or a text, based on authors such as Ave Appiano, Erwin Panofsky, Jacques Aumont, Lorenzo Vilches, W. J. T. Mitchell, among others, who understand image and text as one unit. The research, developed with PUC-Rio students, used a methodological design developed over two successive periods. Firstly, an exploratory study was carried out on the use and the representations of different media, and, in particular, of the Internet, on the part of university students. Secondly, a qualitative investigation was carried out which used as data collecting strategies the focal experimentation groups proposed by Fern and Morgan and interviews. The data obtained through the query applied at the first stage of the investigation enabled eliciting the most frequent representations of the Internet, from a sample of 995 youths, which were used to trigger discussions carried out during the first part of the second stage, that of the focal groups whose members were chosen by intentional sampling. The second part of the group dynamics allowed the obtaining productions such as drawings or collages made by each and every member of the focal groups, representing what youths expect from the Internet. All these representations, expressed through words and/or images, were first analyzed specifically within each set. Based on studies such as those by Derrick de Kerckhove, Lev Manovich, Pier Cesare Rivoltella, Roger Fidler, Sherry Turkle, and Steven Johnson, an analysis was carried out of the crossing of all the empirical data collected; such analysis revolved around some thematic axes: the naturalization of the Internet, its symbolic representation in terms of speed, information, communication, entertainment, globalization, labyrinth and invisibility . The Internet is very present in the daily lives of these youths, which can be verified by the great attunement which they seem to have, besides a critical posture before the Internet, all taken as a unit. Positive and negative aspects of its use, its advantages and disadvantages, its limitations, its usefulness, even its dangers were elicited. This research also verified the evident change of daily school and social habits for these university students, confirming the importance of visual literacy, as defined by Donis Dondis, for this new manner of knowledge construction.

This is a B.Sc. thesis within the Computer Science programme at the Mid Sweden University. The purpose of this project has been to investigate the possibility of using image based surveillance in smart applications on the Internet-of-Things. The goals involved investigating relevant technologies and designing, implementing and evaluating an application that can perform image recognition. A number of image recognition techniques have been investigated and the use of color histograms has been chosen for its simplicity and low resource requirement. The main source of study material has been the Internet. The solution has been developed in the Java programming language, for use on the Android operating system and using the MediaSense platform for communication. It consists of a camera application that produces image data and a monitor application that performs image recognition and handles user interaction. To evaluate the solution a number of tests have been performed and its pros and cons have been identified. The results show that the solution can differentiate between simple colored stick figures in a controlled environment. Variables such as lighting and the background are significant. The application can reliably send images from the camera to the monitor at a rate of one image every four seconds. The possibility of using streaming video instead of images has been investigated but found to be difficult under the given circumstances. It has been concluded that while the solution cannot differentiate between actual people it has shown that image based surveillance is possible on the IoT and the goals of this project have been satisfied. The results were expected and hold little newsworthiness. Suggested future work involves improvements to the MediaSense platform and infrastructure for processing and storing data.

The thesis describes and analyses post-documentary photography with emphasis on contemporary Chinese theory and practice. The traditionally defined documentary function of photography has been challenged on many sides and the technology growth of the new media has caused the structural change of photographic language. Documentary function, the core characteristics of photographic language, is rapidly falling apart in this change. As an imported tool, photography has taken a special road in its growth in China. For well known ideology reasons, the documentary function of photography has displayed some very peculiar changes in its traditional past as well as in globalized China today. This paper will try to analyze various causes that influence the documentary function of photography, compare political and cultural differences and show the post-documentary characteristics of contemporary Chinese photography.

La premiere est liee au comportement spatial que developpe le consommateur a l'egard du point de vente, la seconde est relative a la nature meme de l'activite de service dans laquelle s'inscrit la distribution. Pour qu'un service soit rendu, il faut, en effet, qu'il y ait contact direct entre l'offreur et le demandeur. Le client, pour effectuer son achat, doit entrer en relation avec le commercant par l'intermediaire du point de vente. C'est la nature de ce double contact, perceptuel et relationnel, qui a amene l'auteur a reflechir sur les notions de positionnement "percu" (par la clientele) et "vecu" (par le personnel du magasin) pour en degager les elements de congruence. La pertinence des comparaisons que l'on pourra mener par la mesure des trois positionnements (voulu, percu, vecu), se situe dans le fait que l'on atteindra ainsi un niveau de coherence interne d'un ordre superieur a celui de chacun des positionnements pris separement. The objective of this research work is to outline the characteristics of positionning strategy, when it is transferred from product to store. The store has two specific features which - versus the product - will noticeably alter the prescriptions of positioning. The first one is related to the consumer's space behavior within the store, the second one is related to the very nature of the service business to which the retailing belongs. Customer service, as a matter of fact, implies a direct contact between the supplier and the demander. The customer in order to purchase has to make contact with the retailer at and through the store. It is the nature of this double contact both perceptual and relational which is at the basis of the present work on the position- ing concept, "perceived" (by customers) and "experienced" (by the retail sales people), in order to single out the elements of congruence. The relevancy of the comparisons that will thus be made by measuring the three positioning levels (intended, perceived, experienced) lies on the fact that, so doing, a better internal coherence is obtained than that otherwise supplied by each position- ing level taken separately. La 1ère recherche traite de l'effet de la visite d'un site Internet sur la personnalité de la marque à travers l'analyse d'un panel d'Internautes actifs. Les sujets sont affectés au hasard soit à l'exposition au site Internet d'une des dix marques étudiées, soit à l'exposition à un autre site, constituant ainsi un groupe de contrôle. La 2ème recherche a pour objectif d'étudier l'effet de la visite d'un site sur l'image de marque, mesurée par la théorie du noyau central (Abric 1994), à travers méthode pseudo-expérimentale avant/avant avec groupe de contrôle. Les résultats montrent un effet positif de l'exposition au site sur la personnalité et l'image de marque. L'expérience de navigation ainsi que l'adéquation perçue entre l'image du site et de la marque sont des facteurs déterminants dans l'obtention d'une image de marque positive après la visite
The aim of this research is to measure, through two quasi-experimental designs, the effect of a website visit on brand image. The first research deals with the effect of a website visit on brand personality, by analyzing a panel representative of the active Internet population. Subjects are randomly exposed either to the website of one of the ten brands or to another website, representing a control group. The objective of the second research is to analyze the effect of a website visit on brand image, measured by the theory of the center core (Abric 1994). The method used in this study is a pseudo-experimental before/after method with control group. Results show a positive effect of website exposure on brand personality and brand image. The quality of the website and the navigation experience are determinant in the obtaining of a positive brand image after website exposure. Additionally, the importance of perceived fit between brand image and website image is proved

The owner(s) of a brand decide the attributes of the brand, such as name, color, shape, logotype and values. They have the power and control on what they are communicating to the consumers.  However, consumers can freely interpret any information that is being communicated towards them and shape their own perception of the brand. Internet memes can be categorised as a type of satirical communication method that can be used by consumers. The purpose is to explore how satire through the medium of internet memes affect brand image. This research used a qualitative research approach with a cross sectional research design, in the form of semi-structured interviews. The sample consisted of people from the age 20-30 that had knowledge about memes to some degree. A total of 15 interviews were implemented and took approximately 30 minutes each to execute. The conducted research gave insight to how satirical memes can potentially affect consumers perception of brand image. What was discovered was that satirical memes had the potential to possibly affect certain aspects of both the cognitive and emotional components of brand image. When the participants had a neutral or negative pre-determined brand image it was possible to see a negative shift in their perception of this brand image through negative reinforcement. While on the other side, when participants had a strong and positive pre-determined brand image, the satirical memes affected them differently, as they did not make them negative towards the brand but became critical instead. These alterations showed that there was the potential to affect the participants purchase & usage situations and through the satirical memes effect on the different cognitive and emotional components, could possibly change the perception of a brand image as a whole.

Referensram: Vi har i denna studie beskrivit vad identitet är utifrån bland annat Balmer och Greysers (2002) teori om multipla identiteter. Vidare tillämpas teorier kring intern kommunikation och intern marknadsföring för att belysa deras betydelser för den interna bilden. Utöver denna interna bild beskriver vi även vad image är och vilken betydelse den integrerade marknadskommunikationen har för dess uppfattning. Empiri: Vår empiri baseras på en semi-strukturerad intervju med en person ur ASMs ledningsgrupp samt enkätstudier med medarbetare, kunder och agenter. Vi har även studerat företagets hemsida. Slutsats: Vi kommer fram till att ASMs identitet överensstämmer med ASMs image. Företaget har en väl fungerande extern kommunikation, men uppvisar interna brister i kommunikationen.

This dissertation discusses the idiosyncrasies of manifestations, on digital environments, about corporate strategies for reinforcement of institutional image, specially Social Responsibility Actions. To that end, it starts with a discussion of the centrality of businesses in contemporary social dynamics and proposes the concept of “Sociocomunicational Responsibility” to describe the specifics of social appealling corporate actions. Critical readings of such dynamics were observed on the internet, as in this environment individuals spontaneously register their impressions. The case studied was Rede Globo’s Projeto Criança Esperança, more specifically its discussion in thematic communities encountered in the social network service Orkut. Esta pesquisa propõe uma reflexão sobre a tecnologia colaborativa e a visualidade como os principais elementos para construção da identidade nas redes sociais, com ênfase na fotografia e no vídeo. A explosão, nos últimos 20 anos, dos processos de mediação tecnológica, já consolidados como parte da vida cotidiana, tem gerado uma forma distinta de construir identidades, fato que denominei como conceito de trabalho, Identidades Expandidas. Neste trabalho, descrevo como antecedentes, duas trajetórias separadas, mas interligadas, que dão conta da conformação destas identidades expendidas e configuram um campo emergente, para posteriormente elaborar uma análise de sua relação com as mídias e com a arte contemporânea utilizando diversos exemplos de produções recentes. De uma parte, está a trajetória da tecnologia em rede desde os primórdios até a Web 2.0 ou Web Social, mediação que proporcionou ferramentas importantes para arquitetar novos modelos da identidade individual, e que atualmente estão centrados na sobre-exposição do Eu na imagem interconectada. De outra, está a trajetória das tecnologias da visão usadas quase exclusivamente na arte como exercício de análise para a autoexploração, o que deu como expressão máxima o autorretrato, que recentemente se viu confrontado por o excesso de autoimagens na rede. No ponto em que confluem estas duas trajetórias se instala o recém-chamado Selfie, que é a prática paradigmática da imagem em rede. O selfie é usado como foco de estudo porque é um exemplo destacado de como a tecnologia, visualidade e identidade tem influenciado as mídias e novas práticas artísticas. O objetivo do trabalho que aqui apresento é refletir sobre a relação entre tecnologias sociais, processos de subjetivação, imagens digitais e práticas artistas, num diálogo sobre a transformação radical da visualidade contemporânea.
This research proposes a reflection about collaborative technology and the visuality as the main elements for identity construction on social networks, focusing on photography and video. The explosion, on the last 20 years, of technologically mediated processes that are becoming part of the everyday life, has shaped a new form of identity construction that I have called Expanded Identities. In this work I describe two different but interconnected trajectories that set the base for an understanding of these expanded identities. With these trajectories as a base the analysis, describes several cases in media and art works that engage with these identities and outline an emergent field. The first trajectory frames Internet history focusing on the technologies that make possible the so-called Web 2.0, a social web. These set of technologies create affordances that shape new models of identity that are centered on the over exhibition of networked images. The second trajectory accounts for the technologies of vision that had been traditionally used only by artists as a self-exploration analysis, being the self-portrait as the main genre. This relationship is challenged right now because of the excess of self-images online known as Selfies. These trajectories converge precisely in the Selfie as the paradigmatic practice of the networked image. The selfie is used asfocus ofstudy because it is a good example of how technologies, visuality and identities are influencing the media and new artistic practices. The main objective of this research is to reflect upon the relationship between technologies,subjectivity processes, digital images and artistic practices that form a dialogue on the radical transformations of contemporary visuality.
