Abstract:
While academic internships can play irreplaceable roles by providing students hands-on learning opportunities, allowing them to collaborate with faculty, and strengthening ties between colleges and their communities, continued assessment of these experiences is still imperative. An academic internship has been described as a three-way partnership among a college or university, the internship site, and the student, but the role the institution plays can differ significantly. Several years ago, the Association of Schools of Public Health included field experience (such as internships) as a Critical Components Element of an Undergraduate Major in Public Health. Hence, this study investigates not only how Public Health students evaluate their internship site but also their experience with their school during the internship process. Survey data from 219 undergraduate students, on completion of their internships from Fall 2012 to Spring 2016, were collected. Results posit that public health students report the academic institution provided support and guidance, while their internship site provided a valuable learning experience both interpersonally and professionally. Also, students recommend this experience and provide valuable feedback for future internship partnerships. Considering internships are integral parts of many preprofessional degree programs, it is imperative that programs develop and implement systematic ways to assess these programs. This study provides valuable insight into this process along with identifying students’ perceptions of the academic internship and the role that both the site and the institution played in facilitating their learning.

Abstract:
Higher Education facilitates the process of Internship students through several stages, which can be taken by students after fulfilling the requirements. The Process of Internship, starting with making an official letter of submission to the company where the internship is accompanied by the submission of proposals internships until the implementation of Internship Work in the company is completed. After the internship process is completed students then make a report Internship. Readiness of Study Program to the Faculty in managing the process of implementation of internship work vary. Especially readiness when the Study Program enrolls students until obtaining the scheduling of the seminar report Internship. Universities that have fewer students may not be a problem. But if universities have a large number of Faculties and Study Programs, so the number of active students owned is also a lot, this can be the first step of the complexity of a system. The problems that arise are conflicting schedules of supervisors, examiners and rooms. To facilitate the implementation of the process, e-Magang application is made to help the application process of Internship. The e-Internship application is built with the phase flow of the Scrum SDLC method in Project Management.

Abstract:
Purpose The purpose of this paper is to report on the impact of the internship experience on business students’ career intentions in regard to pursuing a career path in the same job function or industry as their internship. Design/methodology/approach After completing and reflecting on an internship, 198 undergraduate students responded to the prompt: “discuss the impact of the internship on your career consideration.” Responses were analyzed using a content analysis methodology in order to determine whether or not interns would pursue the same job functions (e.g. sales) or industry (e.g. non-profit) as their internship in their post-graduation job search. Findings Across the job functions and industries identified within the internships, 54 and 45 percent of interns confirmed their expectations of career fit, respectively. The implications of confirming and disconfirming these expectations for students are discussed. Originality/value Given the value of internships to business students, surprisingly few studies have examined their influence on undergraduates’ career considerations. Students select internships with the intention of learning about job functions or industries for possible career fit, yet the authors know little about whether the experience confirms or disconfirms their expectations. This study seeks to address this gap. The authors suggest that internships, as experiential activities, merit greater attention as they provide students opportunities to learn what they do or do not want to do, where they do or do not want to work and whether their self-concept fits a possible career path – saving themselves and potential employers the cost of job dissatisfaction and turnover.

Abstract:
Curricular internships are increasingly seen as an effective strategy capable of contributing to the objectives and targets of the sustainable development paradigm, both in its social, economic and institutional dimensions. This positive outlook is ingrained within the large bulk of existing research, which has been focused on the discussion of positive outputs, such as the enhancement of graduates′ competences (employability) and their work integration (employment). An important, albeit relatively unexplored, feature of the sustainable institutional politics of curricular internship management pertains to the assessment of its associated liabilities and tensions. This article seeks to address this challenge, by analyzing two interrelated dimensions. First, it seeks to understand the internship processes ranging from the planning to the implementation stages. Second, it elicits the associated negative aspects (the ‘lunar side’) of internships, allowing for an assessment of the features where there is room for improvement. Empirically, this article draws on in-depth qualitative research. It presents the results of four focus groups, voicing the perceptions of top management structures and students involving first cycle degrees in the areas of Marketing, Management, and Accounting from four public Portuguese Higher Education Institutions (HEIs)-three polytechnics and one university. Findings confirm the general positive outlook of internships. Perceived negative perspectives report to both internal problems (such as the lack of institutional support and curricular design) and external problems (e.g., the shortage of suitable internship placements), constituting barriers towards sustainable institutional policies and strategies. Adaptive strategies to overcome specific difficulties are highlighted (e.g., establishment of advisory committees with local businessmen). Finally, recommendations regarding curricular internship management at HEIs are delineated (e.g., investment in monitoring and evaluation strategies of internships).

Abstract:
Internship credit has been offered for nearly 30 years. In more recent years, it has been formalized with specific guidelines developed in setting up an individual student program. Internship opportunities are facilitated through a career day, which has moved from fall to spring semester in which over 25 firms come on campus to present their opportunities. A detailed packet of information is distributed to the perspective intern and cooperator. A memorandum of agreement is developed with student, cooperator and internship coordinator which details credit, description of the program and hourly wage. Students are required to submit weekly reports and upon returning to campus must present an oral report to a student group and a written report to the internship coordinator. The cooperator does a summary evaluation, which is submitted to the coordinator. A final interview with each student is done with the internship coordinator and a S/F grade is assigned.

The CRAS psychologist works with the prevention and strengthening of bonds, whether individually or collectively, in the context of social vulnerability based on interventions that promote basic protection, based on ethical thinking that guarantees the realization of people's rights. The study is a report of an internship experience in Psychological Assessment and Psychodiagnosis developed by academics from the 7th period of the Psychology course, aiming to discuss the practice of the Psychological Assessment process, in the activity of the Public Policy psychology professional assistants. The internship took place between the months of August and December 2020 at a Reference Center for Social Assistance in a peripheral neighborhood in a city in the interior of the state of Maranhão, after authorization from the Ministry of Education - MEC, for the return of curricular internships. caused by COVID-19 contingencies. The experience of conducting the internship in psychological assessment in a public institution like CRAS is challenging for any student of psychology, since the institution does not provide the appropriate physical, structural and instrumental environment for the psychological assessment process, being successful in tracking users of the service that needed psychological interventions and were referred to health services. Abstract:
Objective: To describe the experience of using the realistic clinical simulation by videoconference as a teaching strategy in the mandatory supervised internship in the remote format with students of the 9th period of the undergraduate nursing course of a Higher Education Institution (HEI) located in Araguaína -TO during the COVID-19 pandemic. Methodology: this is a descriptive work of the type of experience report that occurred in July 2020. The proposal was due to the impossibility of face-to-face internships and the need for teacher evaluation of some skills necessary to the profession of nurses. The method was applied in one week including two videoconferences between the students and two actors characterized as patients who simulated the clinical picture of common conditions in hospitals in the region where the HEI is located. Results and Discussion: The strategy that was used as a proposal in place of the face-to-face internship proved satisfactory, because, in addition to causing an impact and deep involvement of the students with the activity, stimulated the mobilization of several competencies developed throughout the course rescuing knowledge, skills and attitudes that could be evaluated during the internship period making possible the continuity of the academic activities of the Nursing Course. Final considerations: The teaching method resulted in an excellent strategy in the current situation of the pandemic in which the student can develop a significant learning under teacher mediation from the staging of a real situation with the purpose of applying to the future reality in the world of work.

As an architectural preservation intern at the Grand Teton National Park, I worked on a number of projects over the summer of 2012. The primary research project that spanned the two months was an investigation into the history of the Upper Granite Patrol Cabin. Questions had been raised by my supervisors Katherine Longfield and Betsy Engel as to what purpose the original cabin had been built, with reason to believe it may have been built as a poacher’s cabin. Using resources within the GTNP, the Jackson Hole Historical Society, and research on similar building types, I determined that the cabin was not likely to be a poacher’s cabin, but was most likely to be an early ranger’s patrol cabin, built before

Abstract:
Since its inception in 1986, Southern Rep has maintained a formidable reputation for providing quality artistic programming as a nonprofit theatre company. Despite this status, dwindling government funding for arts in the United States combined with a decline in earned revenue and audience attendance has impacted Southern Rep’s operations. The result is an increased need for development and fundraising activities. The purpose of this report is to document my internship with Southern Rep from September 4, 2012 through June 5, 2013. My assessment is written from the perspective of an Arts Administrator functioning in a development capacity. By identifying Southern Rep’s internal strengths and weaknesses combined with external opportunities and threats which impact its operations, I will provide recommendations to achieve sustainability of contemporary drama in a conservative yet emergent environment.

This report describes my experience of 9 months as an intern at Eurotrials, Scientific Consultants, a company devoted to clinical research and scientific consulting. This internship developed in two aspects: multidisciplinary and monodosciplinary training. Multidisciplinary training involved active participation in different departments of this Company, with the objective of obtaining a broad perspective on the multidisciplinary process of the clinical development of medical products. Monodisciplinary training was focused in medical statistics, being carried out in the Biostatistics department of the Company. The objective was to obtain practical knowledge for the application of statistics in health sciences. This implied the learning of fundamental statistical concepts. This internship allowed me to understand, in depth, the multidisciplinary work necessary for an adequate performance of a clinical research project. It also allowed me to acquire valuable knowledge in statistical analysis, as well as to clearly understand the role of statistics in clinical research, as an essential tool in study planning, analysis and interpretation of data obtained.

Abstract:
This internship report describes the student's experiences from January until May 1992, while she worked for the Visual Arts Department of the Contemporary Arts Center in New Orleans, Louisiana. The paper will also give the reader some insight into the history and the current operating conditions of the Center. The Contemporary Arts Center (CAC) is a non-profit, government and community supported institution, and is the home of the nation's third largest artists' organization, the National Association of Artists' Organization. The CAC offers over 250 performances, exhibits, screenings, concerts, workshops, classes and lectures all year round. In addition, it provides services to artists, including information on fellowships and grants, umbrella project support and technical assistance. Exhibits are often accompanied by forums and panel discussions to enhance the public's awareness and appreciation of the works. Programming draws from local, regional, national and international art communities and attracts an annual audience of more than 50,000. At the time of this internship the CAC was in its second year in newly renovated facilities. Prior to 1990, the Center had been a dusty and drafty warehouse that had provided alternative space to show contemporary work in all the arts since 1976. Economic conditions in New Orleans, as in many parts of the South, are in recession and local financial support for cultural activities and facilities lags far behind expenses. The Visual Arts Department was, along with all other departments of the institution, severely affected by budgetary problems and attendant personnel shortages. The Center needs a lung-term fiscal policy with provisions for contingencies.

Abstract:
This essay is an element of dialogue between educational practices acquired in territorial education contexts and the University. In particular, starting from the 10-year long experience consolidated in three educational centres operating in border areas of the Province of Naples, a series of ‘key competences’ have been highlighted that are indispensable to the containment of social risk disadvantage in an inclusion (Bertolini 1977; Freire 2004; Rossi 2014; Sabatano 2015a, 2015b) and well-being project (Iavarone 2007, 2009) from an educational point of view. Such competencies have become subject of a ‘participatory didactic planning’ between expert educators working in these contexts and a university course on ‘Pedagogy of relationships’ within the Department of Motor Science and Well-Being at the University of Naples Parthenope. The participatory planning practice has set the most ambitious goal of achieving a ‘system methodology’ to be used in the curriculum-design of the university courses in order to make the academic education offer a proper link element between the educational demand of young people, the demand for professional skills in the territory and the emerging social needs in order to improve employability processes. The main results that this experience has highlighted can be deducted from the student’s satisfaction survey, as well as from the data collected and processed by the University Assessment Team, in the Department’s Joint Commission Reports, which show a clear and overall improvement of the communication processes between non-academic institutions collaborating with the University for the conduct of internships, training sessions and placement-targeted activities. The empirical evidence and the positive results obtained provide substantial comfort in considering that the experience gained can be a ‘good practice’ to be included in the didactic planning process of the courses, even in relation to the need to improve the educational and didactic offer with reference to the new quality assurance parameters (QA) for the periodic accreditation of the CdS according to the AVA-ANVUR legislation in force

Abstract:
Distance-based learning has become one of the common alternative learning options. Currently, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, many academic programmes, including programmes with internship requirements, have switched their teaching and learning strategies from on-campus learning to online platforms. This study aims to understand the experiences and sense-making processes of student-teachers who have completed their student-teaching internships online during the COVID-19 pandemic. To understand the feedback, experiences, and sense-making processes of this group of student-teachers, it is important to collect first-hand sharing. More importantly, the trend of distance learning-based student-teaching internships will be developed during and after the COVID-19 pandemic. The results of this study will serve as one of the first reports about student-teachers' experiences.

Abstract:
This paper showcases the key results from the internship report, defended at the conclusion of the master’s degree in Museology, oriented by Alice Semedo and co-oriented by Liliana Aguiar. The objective was to apply a diagnostic evaluation approach to map the activities proposed by the educational programmes of Museum Network of Vila Nova de Famalicão. For this, a simultaneous mixed methods design with traces of an ethnographic design was used. The data was collected through an online survey and a diagnostic form, with the objective of tracing a profile of employees, defining a relationship between the educational programmes of museums and their teams, and mapping the educational activities planned for 2019. The data analysis shows that, when applied in the context of the educational programming, the evaluation presents itself as a useful and relevant method to understand practices and as a starting point for deeper changes.

Abstract:
This chapter reviews the recent development of internship in Japanese universities to identify some characteristic aspects of the growth of internship in the universities. The government initiated promoting internship in the late 1990s and now almost all universities provide some internship programmes. The author focuses on the policy papers for the last 20 years, especially the successive reports of the education minister advisory body, which have led the direction of the promotion of internship. Authorizing internship in curriculum was aimed from the beginning. Career education also attracted educators and policymakers while internship was a policy focus, and internship was thought to be a useful means of quality career education. Internship has turned employers' attention while Japanese-style employment and recruiting systems were reconsidered. Internship has been settled down in university curriculum as general education rather than specialized education. However, how internship is set in a curriculum is the university's discretion.

Abstract:
The article/presentation analyses data from e-diary taken by 88 students from three groups of pedagogical programs who were studying in the following school years: 2018-2019 and 2019-2020. As part of the internship tasks, the diary had to be written regularly weekly (for a total of 20 or 22 weeks). According to the provided half-standardised e-diary form, every week, the research participants had to document the most significant/successful/problematic situation in their school internship and raise any questions. The database on an e-diary basis contains 1962 situations of internship pedagogical activity. The data presented in the article is general for the whole group of research participants. The data analysis is based on six stages: access to the data, data coding, finding topics, revision of the topics, a summary of the topics and preparation of the report. The article presents how the e-diary was designed and how the e-diary stimulates the metacognitive capacity to reflect upon thinking capacities. The thematic analysis of the entries in e-diary has been conducted according to the following three aspects: emotional, cognitive, and the change in internship activity. The thematic analysis's emotional aspect (which was revealed in the e-diary notes) has been reflected by the dynamics of satisfaction from the professional activity. The intellectual aspect has been revealed by the dynamics of changes in students' self-estimation, attitude towards learning, and the teaching profession. The diaries provided the opportunity to analyse the learning situations via descriptions in the e-diary and the participant's self-reflections on their gained internship experience.

Abstract:
Facing the pandemic of COVID-19 and the measures of social distancing, in order to reduce the spread of the new coronavirus (SARS-CoV-19), health services are using the technological resources to ensure the continuity of care in remote mode. In this context, the therapy group for women diagnosed with breast cancer has been adapted to the online videoconference. Objective: The aim of this study was to reflect on the professional psychological practice during the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic in an online group care with women with breast cancer. Methodology: This is a case report that joins the experiences of psychology professionals as group coordinators and internship supervisors, with reflections about a modality of telecare carried out by a health team, in the format of an online videoconference group. The experiences of the psychology team were understood in light of Martin Heidegger’s existential analytics. Results: Coordinating a support group in the online modality proved challenging for psychology professionals. This model took some time to be adapted in order to make the professionals comfortable in making their statements and for the bond with patients to be established again. During the supervisions, the lack of practical material to be discussed among the interns was noticed, something that was slowly solved with group readings regarding the clinical practice and group dynamics, and later, with the return of the online group. Conclusion: Facing the pandemic threat has opened a new possibility of being-in-the-world with technological mediations of communication among people, which finds an alternative way of being-with-others in the group participation. Psychology care is characterized by offering qualified listening, directed to the embrace of the emotional demands presented. In the experiences related to COVID-19, the questioning of the existential condition leads to an increase in anguish that marks the perception of finitude and allows the subject to assume being toward death.

Abstract:
Teacher Internship, obligatory in many Teaching School programmes, is that part of pre-service education for teacher-students that provides a practice for learning to teach a subject in an actual class. This paper reports the measurements that have been implemented to organize a hybrid form of a Statistics Teaching Internship programme for the teacher students at our university, during 2020. We present some of our actions to meet this challenge, as not even virtual teaching in high schools was possible at all levels. For the schools where the students have not access to computers or internet, the interns had to develop course booklets with tasks, which were collected and corrected. For the university-teaching part, the courses were delivered virtually and filmed so that they could be analysed. The analysis aims at identifying face-to-face amendments so that a hybrid approach can be developed.

Abstract:
There is growing recognition that good (quantitative) data skills are an essential part of a graduates skill set in an increasingly competitive jobs market. This is the context for the UK’s ‘Q- Step’ programme, a strategic response to a widely reported shortage of these skills among social science graduates. This paper describes an initiative at the University of Manchester Q-Step Centre to pilot the use of internships as an integral part of quantitative training in the undergraduate curriculum, enabling students to apply and practice the skills they have learned in the classroom in a workplace setting. The internships involve students being placed on data led research projects with a diverse range of employers for eight weeks over the Summer. Now in the fourth year of the programme our evaluation is highlighting the potential of internships to help motivate and build confidence in the use of quantitative skills, with a number of interns going on to undertake data led dissertations and specialize further at postgraduate level.
