Abstract:
IntroductionCommunication today is increasingly seen as a process through whichthe exchange and sharing of meaning is made possible. Commtinication asa subject of scientific inquiry is not unique to the field of mass communication.Mathematicians, engineers, sociologists, psychologists, political scientists, anthropologists, and speech communicators have been taking an interest inthe study of communication. This is not surprising because communicationis the basic social process of human beings. Although communication hasgrown into a well developed field of study, Muslim scholars have rdrely hcusedon the study of communication. Thus, a brief introduction to the widely usedcommunication concepts and a framework for the study of communicationwithin the context of this paper is provided. In 1909, Charles Cooley defined communication from a sociologicalperspective as:The mechanism through which human relations exist and develop -all the symbols of mind, together with the means of conveyingthem through space and preserving them in time. It includes theexpression of the face, attitude and gesture, the tones of the voice, words, writing, printing, railways, telegraph, and whatever elsemay be the latest achievement in the conquest of space and time.In 1949, two engineers, Claude Shannon and Warren Weaver, definedcommunication in a broader sense to include all procedures:By which one mind may affect another. This, of course, involvesnot only written and oral speeches, but also music, the pictorialarts, the theater, the ballet, and, in kct, all human behavior.Harold Lasswell, a political scientist, defines communication simply as:A convenient way to describe the act of communication is to answerthe following question: Who, says what, in which channel, towhom, with what effect?S.S. Stevens, a behavioral psychologist, defines the act of communication as:Communication occurs when some environmental disturbance (thestimulus) impinges on an organism and the organism doessomething about it (makes a discriminatory response) . . . Themessage that gets no response is not a commnication.Social psychologist Theodore Newcomb assumes that:In any communication situation, at least two persons will becommunicating about a common object or topic. A major functionof communication is to enable them to maintain simultaneousorientation toward one another and toward the common object ofcommunication.Wilbur Schramm, a pioneer in American mass communication research, provides this definition:When we communicate we are trying to share information, anidea, or an attitude. Communication always requires threeelements-the source, the message, and the destination (thereceiver).

Abstract:
Patient safety is compromised by medical errors and adverse events related to miscommunications among healthcare providers. Communication among healthcare providers is affected by human factors, such as interpersonal relations. Yet, discussions of interpersonal relations and communication are lacking in healthcare team literature. This paper proposes a theoretical framework that explains how interpersonal relations among healthcare team members affect communication and team performance, such as patient safety. We synthesized studies from health and social science disciplines to construct a theoretical framework that explicates the links among these constructs. From our synthesis, we identified two relevant theories: framework on interpersonal processes based on social relation model and the theory of relational coordination. The former involves three steps: perception, evaluation, and feedback; and the latter captures relational communicative behavior. We propose that manifestations of provider relations are embedded in the third step of the framework on interpersonal processes: feedback. Thus, varying team-member relationships lead to varying collaborative behavior, which affects patient-safety outcomes via a change in team communication. The proposed framework offers new perspectives for understanding how workplace relations affect healthcare team performance. The framework can be used by nurses, administrators, and educators to improve patient safety, team communication, or to resolve conflicts.

Abstract:
Success and efficiency in the working organizations today are based upon good communication and social relations between their employees. The importance of these processes is visible in the use of modern techniques of communicating and the support of team building and team work in organizations. Communication and social climate is a topic that is contemporary and interesting to explore. Therefore, this research is focused on processes of communication and social interaction in the educational and manufacturing working environments. Research data were gathered with survey on a sample of 121 workers from two educational and two manufacturing working organizations. Two types of questionnaires were used: a questionnaire by Richard L. Daft (2001) on the communication issue and so-called WES Work Environment Scale concerning social interaction. Data were analysed with statistical procedures of descriptive statistics (frequencies, percentage, mean and standard deviation) and inferential statistics (t-test) for testing of hypotheses.Based upon this analysis came the conclusion that there is a difference in the degree of development of these important personal skills. The results show that the workers in the educational working organizations have a greater ability to communicate and interact compared to those in the manufacturing organizations. This research is meant to be a base for conclusions that came by information gathered in these two kinds of organizations so that the insight could lead further research in other types of organizations.

Abstract:
Interpersonal communication skills are an indispensable tool in the diagnostic and therapeutic process. The communication is divided into verbal and non-verbal, both those forms are complementary to each other, creating a completely legible message of information. The aim of the work was to show the theoretical basis of the importance of interpersonal communication in the profession of a laboratory diagnostician. Effective communication is best seen between the doctor and the patient who, through indirect or direct contact, act together in the diagnostic and therapeutic procedure. However, there is no data on interpersonal communication in the relations of a laboratory diagnostician with a patient and other medical professions. Therefore, it can be concluded from this work that efficient communication of information in health care is an indispensable tool in achieving therapeutic successes. The better communication between medical professions, the faster targeted treatment can be implemented.

Abstract:
The basis of interpersonal relationships is communication as a means of information exchange and an important factor in influence on the of personality`s development. There is a world perception, norms awareness and society values which are perceived through the prism of interpersonal relations. The young people are characterized by the lack of accumulated life experience; values are influenced from the outside, so that influence is the reason for their unstable behavior in the legal field. In a transitive society, all processes are exacerbated, including growing deviant behavior of adolescents. Qualitative work in the organization of legal support of interpersonal relations in the educational environment can help to keep students from committing negative manifestations in interpersonal communication. This form of activity of the teaching staff could be an integral part of the preventive impact on students.

Abstract:
This article proposes a conceptualization of symptoms from an interpersonal perspective and advocates group analysis as an appropriate medium for treatment. Psychoanalytic theory has traditionally conceptualized symptoms using the language of intrapsychic conflicts in the individual’s mind. In this article, drawing on ideas from group analysis and contemporary psychoanalytic theories, I propose an interpersonal conceptualization of symptomatic phenomenology. In addition, I introduce a concept that describes a treatment process based on this perspective: Relations Training in Action1. I will argue that a symptom occurring in one person symbolizes an inadequate interpersonal relations pattern, and that recognition of the pathological relations pattern in therapy enables a process which paddles the creation of healthier communication. Furthermore, I suggest group therapy as a space which offers a rich set of opportunities for the repetition and reparation of relations disorder (Friedman, 2007), and that the transition from the language of intrapsychic symptoms to the language of relationships plays a significant role in broadening the areas of interpersonal communication (Foulkes, 1964). Therapy based on an interpersonal perspective regarding symptoms will facilitate participation in a meaningful and significant relationship with the other, improve the mental health of patients and decrease their need to cling to the symptom.

Abstract:
The article is devoted to the study of the problem of differences in interpersonal interaction of representatives of different socionomic professions. The indicators of interpersonal interaction are procedural such as: primary contact, communication, relationships and structural and personal characteristics: motivational, emotional, volitional and cognitive. The following representatives of socionomic professions were studied: psychologists, teachers, journalists, social educators and managers. It is empirically determined that groups of psychologists, teachers, managers and journalists do not differ significantly in the manifestation of indicators of interpersonal interaction. They demonstrate sufficiently developed qualities that provide interpersonal interaction at all stages. As for social educators, they have a much lower level of procedural features of interpersonal interaction compared to other specialists. Significant differences in the manifestation of structural and personal characteristics of interpersonal interaction between all groups of subjects were revealed. Social educators understand other people better than representatives of all other professions, are able to resolve interpersonal conflicts. Much worse, but this characteristic will also be sufficiently demonstrated by teachers, psychologists and managers. Journalists have difficulty resolving interpersonal conflicts. The specificity of interpersonal interaction of representatives of socionomic professions is emphasized.Key words: interpersonal interaction, primary contact, communication, relations, structural-personal features, socionomic professions.

Abstract:
The article presents the research on the characteristics of older preschool-age orphans’ interpersonal relationships. It reveals differences between the functioning of the sphere of orphans’ interpersonal relations and that of children brought up in families. Orphans show higher interest in adults, indicating that orphans’ need in adults’ attention is not satisfied. The main motives for communication with adults in families are mutual interactions and cognitive needs, while the dominant motive of orphan children is searching for attention and kindness. Orphans show increased inclination to conflicts, cause for which are every-day issues and the struggle for adults’ attention and friendliness. The main cause of conflicts characteristic for family-raised children is their selfaffirmation in games. Orphans are less and less likely to express their own emotions when communicating. They rarely turn to their partners for some advice, support, and sharing of experiences, unlike children in families. Orphaned children feel indifference in relationships with peers. Differences were found between orphaned children and family-raised children as for well-being of relationships: orphans’ well-being is quite low, while family-raised children’s well-being is high. Orphaned children, due to problems in interpersonal relationships with adults and peers, have some deviations in the most important psychological formations: distortion of self image, delayed formation of subjective attitude to oneself, as well as slow and abnormal development of activity, which may further negative affect their psychological well-being.

This article focuses on the need of building a culture of interpersonal relations in the educational space. Theoretical issues related to the need of introducing educational changes were analyzed, in which a greater role would be assigned to building a relational culture as compared to a task-oriented culture. The design thinking method was presented and attention was drawn to the importance of this method in the development of a culture of relationships in relation to educational practice. It was emphasized that this method fosters the development of students' communication and interpersonal competences, teaches cooperation, which in turn contributes to building a culture of relationships in the educational space.

Abstract:
The article analyses a social dimension of inclusive education – interpersonal relations of SEN primary learners with other pupils in the class and pedagogical strategies that target at development of school learners’ positive interpersonal relations. The researchers have distinguished four most important aspects of the social dimension in inclusive education (Koster et al., 2009; De Boer, Pijl, & Minnaert, 2010; Bossaert et al., 2013): a) friendship relations between SEN learners and other schoolchildren in the class (mutual friendship links, subgroups of learners linked by friendship); b) social interaction of SEN school children with peers (joint leisure activities, completion of assignments together, joint participation in activities); c) subjective feelings of SEN learners and their belief that they are accepted by other learners in the class; d) acceptance of SEN learners in the class (social preferences of peers and social support). The researchers also single out and indicate the barriers in building up positive relations of SEN learners with other school learners related with the abovementioned aspects: social isolation, loneliness, social exclusion and bullying. The article sets the following objectives: a) to identify peculiarities of development of SEN learners’ positive relations with other learners; b) to single out pedagogical strategies oriented towards development of positive interpersonal relations of SEN learners with other schoolchildren. The article presents the results of the qualitative research. The following aspects of development of such learners’ positive interpersonal relations are revealed: a) natural acceptance of SEN learners’ otherness seeing transformability of their abilities to communicate and learn; b) inclusion of SEN learners into interpersonal communication based on experience of social similarity and tolerance to the diversity. Such processes are encouraged by the teacher’s belief in transformability of SEN learners’ powers and demonstration of this belief in the classroom. Inclusion of SEN learners into interpersonal communication is enhanced by encouragement of social interactions between SEN children and other class learners in the natural school environment: creation of communication rituals, situations, practices and spaces, initiation of acceptance, mediation and assistance to SEN learners.

Abstract:
Attachment-based theories and related research illustrate that emotion regulation develops in the context of a secure relationship between a child and caregiver. When a secure bond is broken, such as in the context of betrayal trauma, children fail to develop necessary emotion regulation skills which can lead to an array of relational problems. The current study examined the relations between betrayal trauma history, type of communication during a stressful interpersonal laboratory task, and emotion regulation difficulties in a sample of trauma-exposed adolescents. Results showed that adolescents with a betrayal trauma history reported more emotion regulation difficulties and exhibited more aggressive and fewer positive communication behaviors when engaged in a stressful interpersonal task with their mothers than did adolescents exposed only to nonbetrayal trauma. Emotion regulation difficulties mediated the relation between betrayal trauma history and negative communication. The clinical and developmental implications from these findings are discussed.

Abstract:
Within Chinese societies, as in western ones, interpersonal relationships, which can also be called social relations, are one of the most important needs for human beings. Within universities, Interpersonal Communication Efficacy (ICE) has been regarded as having a direct influence on the psychological health of undergraduate students. Based upon the theory of Bandura’s self-efficacy and Xie Jing’s ICE, this article compares the extent of ICE between domestic and international students in a Chinese university. The aim is to identify the similarities and differences between the two research groups, and the implications for the stakeholders (students, teachers, policy-makers, and researchers). A case study was conducted using a questionnaire survey. By employing the methods of quantitative analysis, the questionnaires of 390 respondents were analysed by using variance analysis of SPSS software. The findings of the study reveal that Chinese students are more likely to pay attention to interpersonal communication, and are more interdependent than other international students. This implies the importance of teaching communication skills, improving interpersonal communication efficacy, and understanding teaching and learning across cultures within the ongoing internationalisation of education.

ABSTRACT Objective: Evaluate the perception of nurses regarding interpersonal communication while providing care via telehealth. Method: Qualitative research realized with seven nurses working in telehealth in Brazil, the sample was determined by data saturation. A questionnaire with open questions was applied and then content analysis of the dialogues was conducted, focusing on thematic analysis. Results: Four categories emerged from the dialogues: Understanding the importance of communication; the interpersonal relationship interfering with communication; Communicating via technology; and Learning the communication process. Final considerations: The perception of nurses working in telehealth in Brazil is that technology has facilitated their professional practice; however, in relation to the communication process, they believe it is harder to communicate by telehealth, mainly due to difficulty in perceiving nonverbal signals. To overcome these difficulties, they agreed that interpersonal communication is a skill that must be acquired during their professional training.

Abstract:
The objective of this study was to understand the interpersonal process of embracement between nurses and family members in an adult ICU. It is exploratory, descriptive and observational study, with a qualitative approach, conducted among ten nurses working in an adult ICU, selected using non-probabilistic sampling and established by data saturation, based on three data collection techniques: theme-drawing-text, semistructured interviews and non-participant observation. The analysis, based on Peplau's Theory of Interpersonal Relations and from a tridimensional focus, identified: reason, emotion and volition, that the embracement provided to families manifested certain shortcomings related to the communication process, the development of autonomy for discharge and the interpersonal relationship between nurses and the family. The nurses' concepts in relation to user embracement were positive, demonstrating their willingness to provide it, although they encounter formational and experiential difficulties in putting this nursing theory into practice, insofar as interpersonal relationships and, consequently, in the embracement of families.

Abstract:
Much of the US public acquires political information socially. However, the consequences of acquiring information from others instead of the media are under-explored. I conduct a “telephone-game” experiment to examine how information changes as it flows from official reports to news outlets to other people, finding that social information is empirically different from news articles. In a second experiment on a nationally representative sample, I randomly assign participants to read a news article or a social message about that article generated in Study 1. Participants exposed to social information learned significantly less than participants who were exposed to the news article. However, individuals exposed to information from someone who is like-minded and knowledgeable learned the same objective facts as those who received information from the media. Although participants learned the same factual information from these ideal informants as they did from the media, they had different subjective evaluations.

Abstract:
PurposeThis paper assesses whether communication via interpersonal and IT channels accounts for short-term financial performance and long-term orientation and how these effects are influenced by contract completeness and technology usage in platform builder-platform participant relationships.Design/methodology/approachThe conceptual model and hypotheses are validated through a moderated regression of 384 survey responses from platform participant.FindingsThe empirical results indicate that interpersonal and IT-enabled communication contribute to both short-term financial gains and long-term orientation. The coexistence of interpersonal communication and IT-enabled communication has a synergetic effect on long-term orientation. Contract completeness positively moderates the effect of interpersonal communication on short-term performance while negatively moderating its effect on long-term orientation. Furthermore, contract completeness undermines the effect of IT-enabled communication on short-term performance. Technology usage enhances the effectiveness of interpersonal communication in generating long-term orientation.Originality/valueFirst, diverging from the extant research treating communication as a single dimension construct, this study differentiates communication on media channels and shows their separate and synergetic effects on short-term performance and long-term orientation. Second, our empirical findings indicate that the effects of communication are influenced by governance practices, which extends the communication literature. Third, previous studies have presented conflicting results concerning the role of governance mechanisms in inter-firm relationships. By showing that governance mechanisms also either support or suppress communication in generating performance for platform participants, this study extends the existing research on governance mechanisms. Finally, by regarding technology usage as a transactional governance mechanism, this study furthers our understanding of the role of technology in interfirm relationships.

Abstract:
The article highlights the problem of manipulative manifestations in interpersonal relationships of students of general secondary education. Different points of scientists' view on the admissibility of manipulation in interpersonal communication of school students have been considered. Today researchers do not pay enough attention to the detecting of manipulative manifestations in the interaction of students of general secondary education, as well as socio-pedagogical diagnosis of personal characteristics of adolescents prone to manipulation. Scientists consider the use of manipulative techniques as an unacceptable means of socio-pedagogical and psychological influence because manipulation encourages others to perform actions which are contrary to the people's interests. In addition, it is necessary to establish the socio-pedagogical consequences of the threat of negative manifestations of manipulation in the educational sphere. The purpose of this article is to study and analyze the problems of manipulation in interpersonal communication between students of general secondary education, as well as to identify the personal authorities of students, school to manipulation, or, conversely, unable to resist it. To date, researchers have not proposed a holistic and systematic model of diagnosis and prevention of manipulation in the interaction of adolescent students. A small number of empirical studies would show not only the result but also nature of the impact of manipulation on the relationship between participants in the educational process. The question of the use of manipulation in the socio-pedagogical aspect is insufficiently studied. Observation of students' behaviour during the experiment shows that manipulations are widely used in adolescence. It is established that the issue of manipulative influence and manifestations of manipulation in interpersonal relations of students by the humanities, especially social pedagogy and social psychology, remains open and not fully explored. The prospect for further research is the development and implementation of a training program for the prevention of manipulative manifestations in interpersonal relationships of school students, as well as providing methodological assistance to professionals who face this problem.

Abstract:
The current study examined the relation between interpersonal callousness trajectories during adolescence (ages 14 to 18) and characteristics of antisocial personality and internalizing problems in young adulthood (age 26), using a community sample of 506 boys. The influence of several parent and peer factors on callousness trajectories during adolescence was also explored. Although the mean interpersonal callousness trajectory for the entire sample was relatively flat, there was substantial individual variability in both the initial status and rate of change of interpersonal callousness over time. Trajectories of interpersonal callousness were associated with higher levels of antisocial personality features in early adulthood but were unrelated to adult internalizing problems. Conduct problems and parent—child communication difficulties were the best predictors of elevated levels of interpersonal callousness throughout adolescence. However, none of the parenting and peer factors examined predicted substantive changes in interpersonal callousness over time.

Abstract:
AbstractThe present day is characterized by many new technical and scientific solutions. The goal is probably to improve human existence. A computer and any related issues or a mobile phone; they are supposed to make life easier, but they also generate many negative phenomena. One of the most important is communication, increasingly poor in content (sms), “virtual world” at the expense of the real. Negative phenomena have also occurred from the social side. The sense of social exclusion is intensifying, which is a good example of older people. Empathy is the solution and also a way to address the negative tendency. It results in prosocial processes, through which people will look for direct relationships in interpersonal contacts, so there will be a renewal of interpersonal relationships that have characterized humanity for centuries.
