Abstract As an efficient method for managing power flow, phase-shifting transformers have gained widespread applications in the operation of power systems. The protection of phase-shifting transformers is crucial. This paper focuses on the research of a 35kV single-core symmetric phase shifting transformer in a demonstration project. Utilizing the electromagnetic induction law, the operational characteristics of the transformer are analyzed, and the placement of the protection current transformer is determined to design a magnetic balance differential protection scheme. Abstract:
The capability of routing power from one phase to another, interphase power flow (IPPF) control, has the potential to improve power systems efficiency, stability, and operation. To date, existing works on IPPF control focus on unbalanced compensation using three-phase devices. An IPPF model is proposed for capturing the general power flow caused by single-phase elements. The model reveals that the presence of a power quantity in line-to-line single-phase elements causes an IPPF of the opposite quantity; line-to-line reactive power consumption causes real power flow from leading to lagging phas

The austenite/pearlite growth interface in a model alloy steel (Fe-1lMn-0.8C-0.5V nominal wt%) is being studied in an attempt to characterise the morphology and mechanism of VC precipitation at the growth interface. In this alloy pearlite nodules can be grown isothermally in austenite that remains stable at room temperature thus facilitating examination of the transformation interfaces. This study presents preliminary results of thin foil TEM of the precipitation of VC at the austenite/ferrite interface, which reaction, termed interphase precipitation, occurs in a number of low- carbon HSLA an

In Xenopus oocytes, the mos proto-oncogene product is required during meiosis I for the activation of maturation promoting factor (MPF) and the subsequent breakdown of the germinal vesicle (GVBD). In addition, the mos product has been shown to be a candidate "initiator" of meiotic maturation and is an active component of cytostatic factor (CSF), an activity responsible for metaphase II arrest. Here we demonstrate that pp39mos is required throughout oocyte maturation. We found that in progesterone stimulated oocytes, depletion of mos RNA immediately before GVBD terminally decreased MPF. The Al-Mg alloy structure reinforced with carbon nanotubes was evaluated after the composites production through a modified flake metallurgy technique followed by hot extrusion. The obtained bimodal microstructure of the matrix allowed to identify the microstructural mechanisms leading to high strength; uniform elongation and strain hardening ability of the produced composites. The presence of Mg transformed the native Al2O3 layer into spinel MgAl2O4 nano-phases dispersed both inside CG and UFGs and on the interfaces, improving the interfacial bonding of Al-Al as well as Al-CNT. Abstract:
Transcriptional regulation of mammalian histone genes during S phase is achieved through activation of specific factors which interact with subtype-specific histone gene promoter sequences. It has previously been shown that in HeLa cells this induction is not mediated by obligatory changes in the DNA binding activity of histone gene transcription factors as cells progress through the cell cycle. Recently, it has been reported that the DNA binding properties of a putative histone gene transcription factor may be quite different in normal and transformed cells (J. Holthuis, T. A. Owen, A.
