Full textBy implementing a christian allegoric exegesis as a tool to study the Holy Scriptures, Didymos of Alexandria has found a way for man to attain knowledge, progress in virtue and spiritual perfection. Though faithful to this exegetical method of his time, in particular that of the tradition of Alexandria school (IVth century) represented by Origen, did not prevent him from being utterly creative and personal in his arguments, or his support of Christian doctrines in line with the Church teachings, or his discourses on various themes, especially on any topic related to the Holy Spirit. Further to his use of expressions pertaining to the allegorical exegesis such as r`hto,n, i`stori,a, avllhgori,a, tropologi,a, et avnagwgh,, Didymos managed to endow the word “ dia, noia” a specific exegetic value. So, he enriches his allegorical exegesis with a new hermeneutical dimension which develops at the very center where the spirit of man and the Spirit of God join in God's awareness. It is the source of the manifestation of the intellectual and spiritual dynamic in the search of deep sense of the Scriptures. All Didymos' erudition is not only orientated towards the interpretation of the Scriptures, but more so towards the knowledge of God, a knowledge that implies the “self-communication” and God's communion with his human creature through the Holy the work of the Divine Spirit. Any thought inspired by the Holy Spirit can only have an anagogic meaning (avnagwgh,n). If indeed, this thought or teaching emanates from the Holy Spirit, it must be understood in its spiritual sense (pneumatikw/j) (In Eccle. , 281,5-7) ». The Spirit justifies the letter. The hermeneutic of Didymos is a pneumatology

Full textAllegory is one the major topic of the study of the Jewish Alexandrian exegesis, of which Philo is the most prominent author. By studying three of his treatises, in each of which is to be found one of the three types of allegory he happens to be using in his works, we could determine about Abraham’s character how Philo really uses the notion of allegory and the hermeneutical dimension of his exegesis. In the De Abrahamo, the distinction between the literal and the allegorical meaning follows mostly the distinction between sensible and intelligible realities, but this regular pattern is disrupted by a few elements, including the reference to God. In the section of the Questiones we studied, the exegesis’ focalization on the intellect allows Philo to see the intelligible realities as a part of the literal meaning. At last, in the De migratione Abrahami, the literal meaning and the sensible realities disappear: there remains only an exegesis dealing directly with the intelligible realities. More importantly, Philo creates an exegetical language which closely binds together the language of Scripture and the language of philosophy, so as to illustrate, through several scriptural characters which he unifies in one movement, the migration of the intellect towards God. Philo’s hermeneutics, as it finally appears, are focalized on the life of the intellect. Moses’ Law and nature’s law, two revelations of the one Creator, are bound together within him, thanks to a new language: but in this reading, nature’s law is seen as the true model of Moses’ Law, and philosophy as the true model of exegesis. Philo’s exegetical breakthrough is at the same time his main limit

Full textThe objectives of the present work are attempting to define the concept of'' poetic character” in'' Les Fleurs du Mal” and” Le Spleen de Paris” as well as trying to deduce the functions and meanings implied in that concept. A process of conceptualization will be our first part .This part will rely on existing critics on this subject to finally give the appropriate statutes to creatures inhabiting these two works. We suggested to study through specific examples the way the works of Baudelaire treat this concept particularly when it comes to moving from free verse poem to prose poem. Thus, adjacent concepts have emerged in the course of our analysis such as the notion of mythical or allegorical figure. Talking about '' poetic character “is so delicate especially in this generic difference that imposes binding shades of meaning. But the fact is that we were able to grant the status of characters to many creatures whether in ‘Les Fleurs du Mal ‘or in ‘Spleen de Paris’. In fact, they can be defined according to the criteria usually reserved to character i.e., do, say, the psychological dimension… However, this status is not that evident when we notice that in these two works the same creature could sometimes jointly be treated as character and figure. Once this work was done, our task was to study the functions of these'' characters'' and '' figures'' in the context of the overall aesthetics of Baudelaire. Consequently, we could see a process of duplication and dialogism between the poet and his creatures. Tackled as his doubles; these creatures embody the poet’s claims and his avant-gardist aesthetic convictions
