Full text“Fröknarna von Pahlen”, is a series of novels written by the author Agnes von Krusenstjerna. Especially the fourth and fifth parts, published in 1933, raised questions about sexuality, especially about what was conceived as perverse and provoking descriptions. “Fröknarna von Pahlen” became a part of heated debates about what is acceptable to write about. How can the so called Pahlen feud be understood from an intersectional perspective, and from a focus on values, and by discussing imagined communities? The purpose is to find out what is going on in these debates. Six different values are being pointed out; art and skill, truth, freedom of speech and freedom of the press, the value in the young, the value in female perspectives, and moral values. There is a number of knot points tied to these values, and differentiating processes such as sex, class, age, ethnicity, religion etc. are all intertwined in these debates. From an intersectional understanding, none of these processes are more primal than another. The knot points are both of an emotional nature and thematic. The individual voices that emerge in the feud are named small narratives, and the more intersubjective narratives are called grand narratives. These narratives are being investigated rhetorically; for instance how some stories can appear more as truths than others, and it is analyzed how they separate people in groups and create hierarchies. They are also being seen from an emotional perspective; how individual feelings are a part of emotions, larger contexts and meaning coherences. These feelings are also understood as actions. Throughout the investigation there is a hermeneutic will to make things intelligible, and respect and point out the many different perspectives. This is being made in a cultural relativistic attempt. By focusing on imagined communities, different comradeships and groups in the feud can be pointed out. People can consider themselves parts of these groups, but they can also, more or less involuntarily, be considered as parts of these groups. In the writers opinion, the most important question is how “extreme” sexual descriptions an author is allowed to bring forth.

Full textThe thesis is based on an intersectional examination of an urban development projectin central Gothenburg. The intersectional perspective aims at creating a comprehensiveunderstanding of how different forms of oppression are created in the intersectionsof power relations based on different grounds of discrimination such as sex, class, skin color and age. From an intersectional feminist point of view, we have reviewedplanning documents and conducted interviews in the case study to problematize theplanning process. The main purpose of the thesis has been to find out what kind of newknowledge an intersectional perspective on urban development can create and how thatknowledge can influence urban planning. The intersectional perspective on the casestudy has led to some lessons learned. We mean that the intersectional perspective isan overall understanding of society that can be implemented in all scales of the urbandevelopment process. It can be used to examine how concepts are being used andhow interpretations and priorities are being made. The intersectional perspective alsoprovides a tool for examine, but also suggest improvements to, the planning process.Since the intersectional understanding is central to the entire planning process, wemean that it must be included from the beginning. We have seen that if there, in theearly planning phase, is a lack of understanding and knowledge of power structuresfrom an intersectional perspective it creates limitations and prevent planning a equalcity for everyone. Therefore one conclusion of this thesis is to stress the importance ofimplementing the intersectional perspective throughout the planning process, and neverreduce the question of the right to the city to a sideline.

Full textIn preschool, the presented literature is a significant part of children's everyday life. Oftenthey have the opportunity to control their reading depending on the book that interests them. However, on many occasions during the day, the books that are presented to them are oftenthe educator's choice. Our purpose is to investigate which books educators show and explorewhether they have versatility in the way they present characters and their approach to eachother. The method we have chosen to collect our empirical data is qualitative, the next stepwe had to take was to then analyze the material using theories on intersectionality. Theresult we generated with this essay is that books chosen by educators at the preschool have awell represented diversity regarding opportunity to identify in situations the intended reader. In conclusion, we analyzed the collected empirical material with the purpose of view booksfrom an intersectional perspective, focusing on the home as a physical and socialconstruction. Our conclusions can be used to evaluate literature that educators choose topresent to the children and act as a tool for mapping intersectionality and its influence on thecontent of the book and the intended reader.
