Abstract:
Abstract In this article the author makes the case for a hybrid sourcehood–leeway compatibilist account of free will. To do so, she draws upon Lehrer’s writing on free will, including his preference-based compatibilist account and Frankfurt-style cases from the perspective of the cognizant agent. The author explores what distinguishes kinds of intentional influence in manipulation cases and applies this distinction to a new perspectival variant of Frankfurt cases, those from the perspective of the counterfactual intervenor. She argues that it matters what kind of intentional influence is at issue in the counterfactual intervention and, further, that our judgments about desert of praise (and blame) are affected by occupying the POV of the counterfactual intervenor. The author concludes that such attention to perspectival variants of Frankfurt cases supports the view that compatibilist sourcehood accounts of moral responsibility require an additional compatibilist could-have-done-otherwise condition to capture a more robust sense of moral responsibility.

Abstract:
Breast cancer is one of the most frequent cancers and a major cause of cancer death in women. In this article, the design and control of a novel magnetic resonance imaging-compatible breast intervention robot are proposed. The dimensions and tolerance of the robot system are considered, and a novel pitching mechanism is designed to achieve a dexterous operation in the limited space. The magnetic resonance imaging compatibility of the robot materials is tested. The nonmagnetic structure and compact Cartesian mechanism of the robot allow it to operate safely in a magnetic resonance imaging scanner. According to the robot’s structure, a kinematics analysis based on a coupled motions model is established. The workspace simulation analysis of the robot proves that it is suitable for the whole breast surgery. To control the needle insertion tasks, the overall control system in the form of “personal computer (PC) + single-chip micyoco (SCM)” is designed. Finally, the motion control experiment is carried out, and the robot positioning error is 0.37 mm, which proves that the breast intervention robot and its control system designed in this article can meet the requirements of breast intervention.

Abstract:
Abstract Professor Keith Lehrer has recently argued for what this author shall refer to as his “preference compatibilism,” according to which, among other things, knowledge of S’s preferences is what a counterfactual intervener uses to decide when S will depart from the counterfactual intervener’s plan. Lehrer assumes, among other things, Harry G. Frankfurt’s notion of “effective wants,” which are what Lehrer calls “preferences that reveal themselves in choice given the opportunity to act” (Lehrer 2016, 36). While the author here generally concurs with Lehrer’s preference compatibilism, he shall make some suggestions with the intention of increasing its plausibility even further, especially with regard to its conception of free will when it is considered in light of certain matters of philosophy of law in particular and the ethics of responsibility (moral responsibility) more generally.

Abstract:
1. Diagnosi. L'organizzazione a rete č oggi scarsamente riconoscibile. Come diagnosticarla, come identificarne le caratteristiche strutturali e comprenderne i problemi critici? 2. Sviluppo e progettazione. 5. Decisioni e misura. 6. Sistemi. Quali tecniche o sistemi operativi adatti all'impresa rete dovranno essere sviluppati? Quali sistemi di pianificazione e controllo di gestione dell'impresa rete, if any? 9. IT, Green economy, portualitŕ e logistica), entro cluster territoriali (es. distretti, economie regionali, etc.), sistemi eterogenei interistituzionali (che includono imprese pubbliche, amministrazioni, istituzioni e associazioni).

Abstract:
Occupational therapy services delivered via telehealth can support families of young children with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) in everyday routines such as mealtime, bedtime, and play. The aim of the current study was to understand the lived experiences of parents who participated in a 12-week, telehealth-delivered occupational therapy intervention (Occupation-Based Coaching). We used semi-structured interviews and subsequent thematic content analysis to understand how parents perceived the mechanism of service delivery (i.e., videoconferencing) and the content of the intervention. Themes that emerged from the data included Compatibility with Everyday Life, Collaborative Relationship, and Parent Empowerment. Parents expressed how telehealth fit within their daily lives, how telehealth supported a collaborative relationship with the occupational therapist, and how the content of the intervention built a sense of empowerment.

Abstract:
AbstractRousseau's interpreters often disagree over whether the Emile prepares its protagonist for membership in the Social Contract’s political community or presents him as an alternative to it. I argue that such attempts to determine the compatibility of Rousseau's different “projects” obscures his broader engagement with his contemporary popular audiences—particularly those associated with the theater and the novel—and the political implications therein. In contrast to the above debate, I turn to Emile to argue that in this work Rousseau attempts to shape readers in distinct and crucial ways. Emile does not simply present precepts to be embraced but intervenes into the underlying communicative dynamics that need to obtain for Rousseau's conception of collective self-legislation. It does so by shifting between the theatrical and novelistic generic conventions identified in his prior engagements with popular audiences, thus generating a reading experience that orients readers to continuously revisit their constitution as a collective audience.

From the stance of cognitive developmental theories, claims that general g is an entity of the mind are compatible with notions about domain-general development and age-invariant individual differences. Whether executive function is equated with general g or fluid g, research into the mechanisms by which development occurs is essential to elucidate the kinds of environmental inputs that engender effective intervention.

Abstract:
Abstract This paper proposes a new method of idiographic measurement for dynamic assessment (DA) intervention. There are two main methods of measurement for DA intervention; split -half tests and integrated scoring systems. Split-half tests of ability have proved useful from a research perspective. Integrated scoring systems coupled with case studies are useful from a practitioner perspective. The purpose of this research is to bridge the gap between research and practice by developing a methodology that is compatible with both. To this end the paper proposes a measureable idiographic method of measurement, which utilises multi-dimensional scaling (MDS) and general procrustean analysis (GPA) to analyse the result of card-sort data gathered from a learner across the entire intervention. This approach provides a method of assessment, which is both compatible with individual intervention and suited to building a body of evidence-based research for DA. An example of the method in practice is given for illustrative purposes. The initial results suggest that this approach provides a methodology that satisfies the requirements of both practitioners when formulating targeted intervention and researchers who require methods of measurement of change in ability of the individual over time.

This article reports findings from formative research on translating key elements of the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA) and American Academy of Pediatrics Practitioner’s Guide for pediatric alcohol misuse to a computerized web- and mobile-compatible format with patient risk screening and tailored decision support content. Five practitioners at an urban primary care center used a prototype computerized version of the NIAAA/American Academy of Pediatrics Practitioner’s Guide with 80 adolescent patients during routine health-care visits. Practitioners reported a high level of practitioner and adolescent patient engagement and satisfaction with the prototype. Study findings indicate that computerization of the NIAAA Practitioner’s Guide is feasible and well accepted by providers and adolescent patients and could be useful for addressing alcohol misuse in primary care settings.

Abstract:
Background Wearable activity trackers and social media have been identified as having the potential to increase physical activity among adolescents, yet little is known about the perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness of the technology by adolescents. Objective The aim of this study was to use the technology acceptance model to explore adolescents’ acceptance of wearable activity trackers used in combination with social media within a physical activity intervention. Methods The Raising Awareness of Physical Activity study was a 12-week physical activity intervention that combined a wearable activity tracker (Fitbit Flex) with supporting digital materials that were delivered using social media (Facebook). A total of 124 adolescents aged 13 to 14 years randomized to the intervention group (9 schools) participated in focus groups immediately post intervention. Focus groups explored adolescents’ perspectives of the intervention and were analyzed using pen profiles using a coding framework based on the technology acceptance model. Results Adolescents reported that Fitbit Flex was useful as it motivated them to be active and provided feedback about their physical activity levels. However, adolescents typically reported that Fitbit Flex required effort to use, which negatively impacted on their perceived ease of use. Similarly, Facebook was considered to be a useful platform for delivering intervention content. However, adolescents generally noted preferences for using alternative social media websites, which may have impacted on negative perceptions concerning Facebook’s ease of use. Perceptions of technological risks included damage to or loss of the device, integrity of data, and challenges with both Fitbit and Facebook being compatible with daily life. Conclusions Wearable activity trackers and social media have the potential to impact adolescents’ physical activity levels. The findings from this study suggest that although the adolescents recognized the potential usefulness of the wearable activity trackers and the social media platform, the effort required to use these technologies, as well as the issues concerning risks and compatibility, may have influenced overall engagement and technology acceptance. As wearable activity trackers and social media platforms can change rapidly, future research is needed to examine the factors that may influence the acceptance of specific forms of technology by using the technology acceptance model. Abstract:
Abstract Typical approaches to early intervention services, as carried out in many parts of the United States, may not be practical or successful with traditional American Indian families and communities. New Mexico, home to 22 tribes (19 pueblos, Navajo, and 2 Apache tribes) with eight indigenous languages, has worked through its Part C Family Infant Toddler (FIT) Program to support services for all communities in ways that meet community and cultural norms. This has led to examination of service delivery approaches, community based services guided by local American Indian leadership, and scrutiny of early assessment and evaluation in a culturally appropriate manner, compatible with state and federal regulation. This overview of the early intervention system, its challenges and opportunities, shares features of early intervention programs serving New Mexico tribes, and speech-language services in the context of family-centered philosophy, and culturally competent service delivery.

Abstract:
The Child and Adolescent Trial for Cardiovascular Health (CATCH) was the largest school-based field trial ever sponsored by the National Institutes of Health. The trial demonstrated positive changes in the school food service and physical education program, as well as in students' cardiovascular health behaviors. Because the CATCH intervention programs were implemented in 56 schools (in four states) that were typical of schools throughout the United States, their reception by schools and degree of implementation provide evidence about their feasibility for schools nationally. Extensive process evaluation data were collected from students, teachers, school food service personnel, and physical education specialists throughout the three school years of the CATCH intervention. Four of the CATCH programs—school food service, physical education, classroom curricula, and home programs—were assessed over the three school years. The process data provide information on participation, dose, fidelity, and compatibility of the CATCH programs in the intervention schools for these programs. High levels of participation, dose, fidelity, and compatibility were observed for the four programs during the 3 school years. CATCH emerges as a model of a feasible multilevel health promotion program to improve eating and exercise behaviors for elementary schools in the United States.

Abstract:
This study aims to compare the newly developed psychological intervention method by the first author, named data-focused approach, to the more classical process-oriented approaches, i.e. gestalt, psychodynamics, and interactional group psychotherapies. Pretest-posttest design was used. Twenty-one participants were assigned into four experimental groups. Measures used were self-regulation, emotional awareness, and meta-emotion scales as well as stated agenda on interpersonal relationship. They were administered before and after therapy sessions. Results indicated that the new method evidently was compatible to the classical psychotherapy approaches. Specifically, participants in the data-focused approach were satisfied with the aiming behavioral change in their interpersonal relationship. The new approach is effective to be applied in the group processes. Thus, this new method is also recommended to be studied in other settings. Using simplified procedure, it is hoped that other professionals, like medical doctor, nurse, midwife, women activists in public health centers may use it to serve better the community.

Abstract:
Melody-based treatments for patients with aphasia rely on the notion of preserved musical abilities in the RH, following left hemisphere damage. However, despite evidence for their effectiveness, the role of the RH is still an open question. We measured changes in resting-state functional connectivity following melody-based intervention, to identify lateralization of treatment-related changes. A patient with aphasia due to left frontal and temporal hemorrhages following traumatic brain injuries (TBI) more than three years earlier received 48 sessions of melody-based intervention. Behavioral measures improved and were maintained at the 8-week posttreatment follow-up. Resting-state fMRI data collected before and after treatment showed an increase in connectivity between motor speech control areas (bilateral supplementary motor areas and insulae) and RH language areas (inferior frontal gyrus pars triangularis and pars opercularis). This change, which was specific for the RH, was greater than changes in a baseline interval measured before treatment. No changes in RH connectivity were found in a matched control TBI patient scanned at the same intervals. These results are compatible with a compensatory role for RH language areas following melody-based intervention. They further suggest that this therapy intervenes at the level of the interface between language areas and speech motor control areas necessary for language production.

ABSTRACTBackground:Peer volunteers can be key to delivering effective social cognitive interventions due to increased potential for social modeling. We consulted peer volunteers who had just taken part in an 8-week social and nutritional mealtime intervention with older adults living alone, to seek their evaluation of the intervention.Methods:Semi-structured focus groups were used with a total of 21 volunteers (17 female) and two facilitators. Thematic analysis was used to interrogate the data. Results:Six themes (16 sub-themes) are discussed. Peer volunteers described the importance of the socializing aspect of the intervention, of pairing considerations and compatibility in peer interventions, of considering the needs of the participant, of benefits to the volunteers, and of the practical considerations of conducting an intervention. Volunteers also discussed considerations for future research and services for older adults living alone. Conclusions:Volunteers found their involvement in the intervention to be personally beneficial, and revealed some valuable considerations for the researchers to take forward to future research. Results are pertinent to intervention design and could inform future social cognitive and other peer-oriented interventions for older adults living alone.

Abstract:
AbstractState revenue production since the third wave of democratization contrasts sharply with the experiences of the first and second waves of democratization. The late democratizers tend to adopt and raise revenue from a regressive tax on consumption (the value-added tax: VAT), which is more compatible with economic development in global markets but is considered as unequal taxation. How does the weak redistributive (i.e., regressive) effect of this form of taxation affect the welfare of people? We build on the conventional wisdom that democratic accountability through multiparty contestation improves human development. Focused on taxation, we argue that an increasing state financial capacity contributes to an increase in human development, even when electoral contestation is absent. Empirical analyses employed a reduction in infant mortality as an indicator for the improvement of human development and demonstrate the counter-intuitive effect of the VAT on human development. Despite the effect of weak redistribution, the VAT contributes to human development in countries with less democratic accountability. The results also show that the state's financial capacity to secure tax compliance, rather than a mere increase in tax revenue, intervenes critically in such development in countries since the third wave. We conclude that the increased state financial capacity with regressive taxation is expected to promote human development in newly emerging democratic states.

Abstract:
Abstract Fractalkine displays features that distinguishes it from the other chemokines. In particular, besides its chemoattractant action it promotes, under physiologic flow, the rapid capture and the firm adhesion of a subset of leukocytes or intervenes in the neuron/microglia interaction. This study verified that indeed the human monocytic MonoMac6 cell line adheres to fibronectin-coated filters in response to soluble fractalkine (s-FKN). s-FKN stimulates, with distinct time courses, extracellular signal-related kinases (ERK1 and ERK2) and stress-activated protein kinases (SAPK1/JNK1 and SAPK2/p38). Both p60 Src and p72 Syk were activated under s-FKN stimulation with a rapid kinetic profile compatible with a downstream regulation on the mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) congeners. The use of specific tyrosine kinase inhibitors revealed that the ERK pathway is strictly controlled by Syk, whereas c-Src up-regulated the downstream SAPK2/p38. In contrast, the SAPK1/JNK1 pathway was not regulated by any of these nonreceptor tyrosine kinases. The s-FKN–mediated increased adherence of MonoMac6 cells was partially inhibited by SB202190, a broad SAPKs inhibitor, PD98059, an MEK inhibitor, LY294002, a phosphatidyl inositol 3-kinase inhibitor, and a pertussis toxin-sensitive G protein. These data highlight that the integration of a complex array of signal transduction pathways is necessary to complete the full s-FNK–dependent adherence of human monocytic cells to fibronectin.

Abstract:
Currently observed that the sedentary lifestyle and stressed work schedule has increased the number of skin disorders (Twaka Vikara). It has been established fact that the common cause of various skin disorders (Twaka Vikara) is altered Ahara and Vihara (Dietary and Lifestyle changes), specially Viruddhaahar (in-compatible diet). Ancient Ayurveda Scholars described in detail Raktamokshana (the procedure of remov-ing the vitiated blood) for the management of the diseases caused by Rakta and Pitta. The Jalaukavacha-ran (Leech therapy) is one of the effective Raktamokshan (bloodletting) management of vitiated Rakta and Pitta caused skin disorders. In Jalaukavacharan the anti-coagulant property of hirudin, contained in leech saliva, lead to wider therapeutic application in prevention and treatment of various Twaka vikara. Twaka Vikara (Vicharchika) is one of the mostly observed skin disease, which is mainly developed on account of misconduct in all aspect including kayik, vachik, manasik variety of misconducts along with dietary and lifestyle irregularities. Dietary intervention and lifestyle modification play an important role to cure the diseases. In Present case study Patient showing symptoms of Vicharchika (Twaka Vikara) having improper dietary habits and stressed work schedule, after the Dietary Regimen and lifestyle modification along with Jalaukavacharan at local area showed improvement in skin texture. The details of the causative factors, clinical findings, improvements observed after implementation of preventive and curative management plans are presented here.

Abstract:
The primary aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of a somatic intervention technique. Subjects (N = 17) completed a modified version of the Competitive State Anxiety Inventory 2 (CSAI-2), which assessed both intensity and direction (debilitative-facilitative) of state anxiety within one hour of a soccer league match. During the match, player performances were evaluated using intraindividual criteria. Subjects were then allocated to control (n = 8) and experimental (n = 9) groups on the basis of their somatic anxiety intensity and direction scores. Following an 8-week intervention, subjects were again assessed during a second soccer match. A series of twoway analyses of variance with one repeated measure revealed significant interactions for cognitive anxiety intensity, somatic anxiety intensity, and somatic anxiety direction. This study provided further support for the “matching hypotheses” in that a compatible treatment proved most effective in reducing the targeted anxiety.

Abstract:
This paper proposes an idea of'values imperialism'as a helpful way of conceptualising the relationship between the EU and the states that came within its sphere of influence after the end of the Cold War, particularly its 'neighbours' in Eastern Europe. Values imperialism places its emphasis on the 'superstructure', including norms, laws and social practices. EU larger objective was that the assumptions about government and ownership that were favoured by the dominant powers (EU and the West in the broad term) should be absorbed and recapitulated by those countries that were subordinate. The broad framework ofsubordination was established by the Partnership and Cooperation Agreements that began to be concluded from 1994 onwards. Patterns of'values imperialism'could also be discovered in the EU Common Strategies on Russia and Ukraine that were adopted in 1999. Article also points out several cases when the EU intervened directly in the domestic affairs of the Eastern Europe countries in a manner that was not always compatible with the provisions on state sovereignty: a 'European Instrument for Democracy and Human Rights', launched in 2006, interventions ofEU representatives in the work of local courts and organisation of exit polls, which could be used to discredit the official election results and in this way to undermine the position of local governments. Finally, the author concludes that the EU used 'values imperialism'practices in order to extend its influence, particularly in the Eastern Europe.

The aims of this field-based study were to evaluate the effects of a cognitive intervention technique and to further examine the anxiety–performance relationship in semiprofessional soccer players. Participants completed a composite version of the Competitive State Anxiety Inventory-2 (CSAI-2) 20 minutes before three soccer league matches. Two experimental groups, one suffering from debilitative cognitive anxiety (n = 8), one suffering from debilitative somatic anxiety (n = 8), undertook a 12-week cognitive intervention. Player performances were evaluated using intraindividual criteria. A series of two-way analyses of variance (group and event), with repeated measures on the second factor, indicated significant Group × Event interactions for cognitive anxiety intensity and direction, and somatic anxiety intensity and direction, yet failed to reveal significant interactions or main effects for the performance measures. This study provided partial support for the “matching hypothesis” in that a compatible treatment proved more effective in reducing the targeted anxiety in both experimental groups.

Abstract:

Abstract:
Abstract Caring for a person with dementia is associated with negative outcomes. Few caregiver interventions have been implemented in community settings. Mobile technology is one method for reaching many caregivers. This project translated two empirically-supported interventions for dementia caregivers into a mobile health application. A team of clinical researchers and computer engineers developed an App called CARE-Well (Caregiver Assessment, Resources, and Education) over 6 months. The group worked closely to do the following: 1). translate interventional content to be compatible with a mobile platform; 2). create new materials; 3). determine App components that captured key intervention areas; 4). troubleshoot formatting, technology, and data security; and 5). educate each other about respective areas of expertise. We developed a beta version of the App that included: 1). assessment of caregiver stress and care recipient behavioral problems; 2). psychoeducation; 3). goal diary; 4). managing behavior problems; 5). online message forum; and 6). video library. Several challenges arose during the App development process, such as how to create navigation paths and goal lists based off users’ assessment responses, data storage and usage tracking, enlarging text, and how to ensure privacy and confidentiality in the online message forum. Our experience developing the CARE-Well App showed that translating behavioral interventions into mobile health applications is feasible and dependent upon regular communication among multidisciplinary team members. Next steps for the App include beta testing with dementia caregivers and conducting a pilot randomized trial to determine feasibility for a future trial and its effects on caregiver stress.
