Abstract:
Posterior segment intraocular foreign bodies pose a problem in restoration of significant visual acuity usuallydue to delayed presentation, improper evaluation and management. However, good history taking, meticulousocular examination and proper management can result in reasonable visual acuity in cases of retainedintraocular foreign body in the posterior segment. We are presenting a case report of penetrating oculartrauma with retained intraocular foreign body in the posterior segment. Following intraocular foreignbody removal, core vitrectomy and subsequent cataract extraction, the patient h

Introduction. The most common cause for litigation against ophthalmologists in a trauma case is a missed intraocular foreign body (IOFB). IOFBs cause internal eye damage, but some will come to rest in the posterior segment of the eye. Case report. We presented a 57-year-old male who was referred to the ophthalmologist due to decreased visual acuity in his left eye. Slit lamp examination of his left eye showed no pathological findings. Goldmann contact lens examination showed IOFB which was lying in the vitreous body in the inferior-temporal region. Retinal rupture was noticed at 7 o?clock. The

Background/Aim. In cases of blurred optic media the ultrasound diagnostics offers useful data about eventual presence of intraocular foreign body as well as about its precise localization in the eye. The aim of this study was to retrospectively analyze echographic findings in patients with the diagnosis of intraocular foreign body with a special interest in localizations of a intraocular foreign body in the eye and the presence of an eventual infection - endophthalmitis. The aim of this study was also to confirm the localization of intraocular foreign body by echography and to test the precisi
