This thesis proposes a novel method for locating a p-dimensional invariant torus of an n-dimensional map. A set of non-linear equations is formulated and solved using the Newton-Raphson scheme. The method requires a set of sampled points on a guess invariant torus. An interpolant is passed through these points to compute the pointwise shift on the invariant torus, which is used to formulate the equation of invariance for the torus under the given map. The Intrinsic Low-Dimensional Manifold (ILDM) has been adopted as an approximation to the slow manifold representing the long-term evolution of a non-linear chemical system. The computation of the slow manifold simplifies the model without sacrificing accuracy because the trajectories are rapidly attracted to it. A perturbation analysis shows that if a numerically stable procedure is used to compute the matrix sign function, then it is competitive with conventional methods for computing invariant subspaces. Stability analysis of the Newton iteration improves an earlier result of Byers and confirms that ill-conditioned iterates may cause numerical instability. This thesis consists of two parts. We start with some background theory that will be used throughout the thesis. Then, in the first part, we investigate the existence and uniqueness of the solution of the stochastic partial differential equation with two reflecting walls. Then we establish the existence and uniqueness of invariant measure of this equation under some reasonable conditions.
