Full textConsidering the profound and threatening changes that characterize the contemporary global economic scene, notably the acceleration of the economic globalization growth system, direct foreign investment has become over the years, one of the essential components of development strategies that companies are lead to develop in order to ensure their presence in the international markets and adapt their industrial structures to face increasingly rigorous international competition. Because of the increasing demand from developing countries, Direct Foreign Investment (FDI) has become, in fact, the driving force of their economies, resulting in considerable strides over the last ten years. That's the stake of analysis of the true implications of FDI on the economies of developing countries. The purpose of the presentation of Tunisia's experience in FDI was to demonstrate that the impact of FDI on economic development differs from one host economy to another. It depends partly on the intrinsic characteristics of the country (degree of development, comparative advantages, etc. ), but also on the FDI objectives assigned by the State, i. E. The country's economic policies. In addition, the author has drawn from his experience in the field

Full textThis work focuses on foreign direct investment and international tourism. It is a simultaneous study in tourism demand international both in terms of arrivals and revenue; These elements have been little the subject of earlier work, due to the specificity of tourism and the shortcomings of statistical data. This work consists of two parts. The first is divided into two chapters. In the first chapter, it comes to the economic analysis of the IDE, including the sector of tourism and international tourism. In the second chapter, the main determinants of FDI and tourism are studied. The second part concerns the econometric applications and the classification of the typology of the determinants of FDI; it includes two chapters. In the first chapter, statistical data, the methodology for descriptive statistics and econometric models are studied in order to demonstrate the link of interdependence and the relationship of interaction. The second chapter is devoted to the analysis of tests of the countries concerned. By combining the results of econometric tests, a study of the product monograph of each country, it is permitted to establish a ranking of the determinants of FDI to tourist destination
Toufik, Saïd. "Investissement direct étranger et spillovers technologiques : cas des industries manufacturières marocaines." Toulouse 1, 2003. http://www.theses.fr/2003TOU10071.
Full textThis dissertation analyses the impacts of foreign direct investment (FDI) on the productive structure of the Moroccan manufacturing firms during the period 1987-1996. It is a question of deciphering the way in which the institutional and economic preconditions influence at the same time the attractivity of the foreign capital and, the assimilation and transmission systems of technologies conveyed by the foreign investments. From panel data, the use of random-effects model within the framework of the technological spillovers endogeneisation, underlined the positive and signifiant impact of the FDI, the human capital and the opening rate on the total factor productivity (TFP) of the Moroccan firms in weak technology industries. The importance of the technological gap in the explanation of the lack of spillovers from FDI, was confirmed by the econometric analysis. Thus, we found that the absorption capacity of the Moroccan firms is relatively more important in weak technology industries - where the technological gap between the foreign and Moroccan firms is weak -that in high technology industries where this gap is important. Our results on technological spillovers show the necessity of complementary reforms. Among these, improving human capital of the Moroccan firms, istitutional framework and economic incentives appear key
Srun, Sopheak. "Intégration économique, investissement direct étranger et compétitivité du Cambodge." Thesis, Toulon, 2018. http://www.theses.fr/2018TOUL2002/document.
Full textThis thesis discusses the essential parts of Cambodia’s economy, in which trade, foreign direct investment, and tourism are the main research questions. It shows that the three sectors are the key components for economic development and the sources of welfare and prosperity for the country. We mainly use empirical approaches to investigate the problem that is raised. We also take advantage of recent theoretical advances in the area of research to complement the formulation of empirical models and to interpret and describe the significance of our findings in light of what theories have already proposed. The analysis of export patterns reveals that Cambodia has the large comparative advantages in agricultural, textile and footwear products. Further analysis using gravity models shows that foreign direct investment, logistics, and quality of regulation promote exports, while tariffs and distance with importing countries are barriers to international exports of goods. The study on the determinants of foreign direct investment using a static and dynamic panel data analysis reveals that the inflows of foreign direct investment are not influenced by local attractiveness factors such as market size or quality of public governance. In contrary, factors like bilateral trade and membership of the World Trade Organisation have attracted more foreign investments. We also found that trade and tourism have a complementary effect in the sense that tourist arrivals promote trade and vice versa. The outcomes of the four chapters in this thesis reveal notable and complementary effects between the three main sectors in Cambodia’s economy. Accordingly, an increase in exports encourages more inflows of foreign direct investment and tourist visits. The reciprocal effects are also confirmed in the sense that foreign direct investment and international tourist arrivals encourage bilateral trade
