Unbegleitet geflüchtete Jugendliche treffen in Deutschland neben anderen Herausforderungen häufig auf Diskriminierung und Rassismus. Die Situation in der Stadt Dresden ist durch die Aktivität der Gruppe Pegida von besonderer Brisanz. Im Rahmen der Studie wurden 50 unbegleitet geflüchtete Jugendliche (15-21 Jahre alt) in Dresden befragt. Untersucht wurde, inwiefern sie rassistische Diskriminierung in Dresden wahrnehmen, welche Umgangsstrategien sie anwenden und wie dies mit ihrem psychischen Wohlergehen zusammenhängt. Die wahrgenommene Diskriminierung wies einen starken negativen Zusammenhang mit ihrem psychischen Wohlergehen auf. Die Wirkung der Umgangsstrategien der Jugendlichen war unterschiedlich: Bei wenig wahrgenommener Diskriminierung konnten einige Strategien das Wohlergehen schützen; war die wahrgenommene Diskriminierung jedoch stark ausgeprägt, waren die Strategien weniger effektiv oder schadeten dies ihremsogar dem Wohlergehen.

AbstractIn addition to portraits and diplomatic reports, Renaissance courts relied on fashion dolls to acquaint themselves with foreign dress. Unfortunately, literature on this subject is scarce and often disappointing. Overlooked by doll historians, a letter written by Federico Gonzaga (1500–40) in 1515 reveals that François Ier (1494–1547) requested a fashion doll from Isabella d’Este (1474–1539). After examining this document within the context of what is currently known about Renaissance fashion dolls, this essay explores what François I er’s interest in these objects suggests about his personality and his relationship to the women of his court.

We have proposed to build a 100 T/10 ms, 70 T/100 ms, 60 T/1 s pulsed field user facility with a 50 MJ capacitor bank at the Forschungszentrum Rossendorf near Dresden. This would provide the appealing possibility to have access to Zeeman energies in the energy range of the infrared free-electron-lasers (5 μm to 150 μm; 2 ps; cw; > 10 W) now under construction at the radiation source ELBE (superconducting electron linear accelerator; 40 MeV; 1 mA; 2 ps; cw) in Rossendorf. The work is accompanied by computer simulations of the planned coil systems, of the power supply, and by the development of high-strength conductors aiming at a tensile strength of about 1.5 GPa at σ ≈ σ Cu/2 (microcomposite CuAg alloys and Cu-steel macro compounds). With a view of gaining experience in the construction and operation of pulsed magnets, a pilot pulsed field laboratory was established at the Institute of Solid State and Materials Research Dresden (IFW Dresden). The laboratory includes short pulse magnets with peak field up to 60 T in a 24 mm bore and a rise time of about 10 ms (coil from NHMFL, Tallahassee), and a 40 T long pulse magnet with 24 mm bore and rise time of about 80 ms (coil from METIS, Leuven). The repetition rate of 20 min between pulses is limited by the cooling time of the coils. The coils are energized by a 1 MJ, 10 kV capacitor bank with some special features. With this set-up measurements of magnetization and magnetotransport on 4f-electron systems, for example RECu2, have been out in the temperature range of 1.5 to 300 K and at fields up to 52 T using high precision pick-up coils.

This role model offers inspiration for a character confined as a domestic servant and defiantly seeking an alternative to the stultifying circumstances of life in rural Free State Ireland. While Ellie Irwin resembles other spirited Deevy heroines, the doubling of the young servant with her memory of Charlotta Burke as a non-cross-dressed Coriolanus adds a different dramatic dimension and raises questions of gender performance that the play's critical reception has not always acknowledged.

Abstract Background and Objective: Currently, non-VKA oral anticoagulants (NOAC) are replacing vitamin-K antagonists (VKA) in stroke prevention in atrial fibrillation (SPAF). We evaluated characteristics of SPAF patients that are not switched from VKA to NOACs in daily care. Methods: The prospective Dresden NOAC registry stopped enrolment of dabigatran and rivaroxaban patients on February 28, 2013. At that day, participating sites were asked to enrol all VKA patients seen for regular INR testing who remained on VKA and for whom switching to NOAC was not anticipated. VKA patients were followed for one year. Results: In total, 50 physicians registered both SPAF patients on NOAC-therapy (n=709) and on VKA therapy (n=427; table 1). Compared to the NOAC registry cohort, patients that continued VKA therapy more often were male and less often had a history of TIA/stroke, unstable INR values or a history of bleeding complications compared to the NOAC cohort. The mean duration of VKA pre-treatment was 70.7 months (range 1–432 months). For 328 of the 427 VKA patients (62%), the INR documentation was available for at least 6 months backwards and mean TTR (calculated according to Roosendaal) was 72.2% (SD 19.6). Enrolling sites indicated “stable INR” (95.3%), “costs” (6.3%) and “contraindication for NOAC” (2.3%) as the most common reasons to continue with VKA therapy in these patients. As of June 30th 2014, completed FU correlated to 472.42 patient years. At 12 months-FU (completed in 330 pts.), 311 patients (94.2%) were still taking VKA, 13 patients (3.9%) were switched to other anticoagulants and the remaining 6 patients (1.8%) stopped taking anticoagulants completely. Most common reasons for VKA discontinuation were bleeding complications (7/19; 36.8%) and unstable INR (6/19; 31.6%). Conclusion: NOAC-experienced physicians keep around 40% of anticoagulated SPAF patients on VKA, mostly due to the fact INR is considered to be stable or NOAC to be expensive. The mean TTR of 72% indicates that subjective assessment of INR stability is accurate. Patients with a history of stroke or bleeding complications are more likely to be switched from VKA to NOAC. During the following 12 months, less than 6% of the VKA continuers need to stop VKA treatment, indicating that the subjective assessment of the attending physician identifies patients with acceptable VKA treatment persistence. ZusammenfassungDie Geschichte der Syphilis wurde in der Dermatologie in den Lehrbüchern stets mitbesprochen. Ihr „Kommen“ und „Gehen“ wird heute oft nur noch wiederholt, wie die Namen der Entdecker und Behandler. Der historische Kontext der Syphilis ist mit der Zeit jedoch verlorengegangen. In diesem Artikel soll er aus der Perspektive von Syphilismoulagen rekonstruiert werden. 7 solcher Moulagen existieren noch heute in der Rostocker Sammlung, die um 1940 hunderte Objekte in einer Sammlung von 2000 oder 3000 Moulagen zählte. Weitere historische Lehrmittel der Sammlung bilden ihren Kontext: Tafeln und Atlanten mit Moulagenabbildungen sowie Syphilismoulagen aus dem Deutschen Hygiene-Museum Dresden. Nach einer theoretischen Einführung zur materialen Medizingeschichte wird eine Syphilismoulage in einer (re-)konstruierten Vorlesung vorgestellt. Den weiteren Erzählrahmen bilden die ersten 3 Direktorate der Rostocker Hautklinik in den Jahren 1902 – 1945. Der mikrohistorische Kontext der Syphilismoulagen von Rostock wird somit rekonstruiert und für die Leser ein lebendiger Raum historischen Erfahrens geschaffen.

Bis zum Beginn des Zweiten Weltkrieges hatte man in den wissenschaftlichen Bibliotheken der nunmehr neuen Bundeslanäer, besonders aber in Sachsen, ausgezeichnete Bestände an Kunstliteratur zur Verfügung. Der Krieg brachte mit Zerstörung und Abtransport von Kriegstrophäen schwere Verluste. In den folgenden Jahrzehnten behinderte vor allem Devisenmangel den Anschluß an die internationale wissenschaftliche Literatur. In dieser Zeit konzentrierte die Sächsische Landesbibliothek in Dresden ihre Mittel auf ihr spezielles Sammelgebiet bildende Kunst und ist ein Erwerbungs- und Informationszentrum, besonders für die Universitäten des Landes, gewesen. Seit 1990 fließen aus verschiedenen Quellen Gelder, um neueste Literatur zu erwerben und die störendsten Lücken nach Möglichkeit zu schließen. Gleichzeitig wurden vor allem die Bibliotheken der Universitäten und Kunsthochschulen mit moderner Technik ausgestattet und die Vernetzung in Angriff genommen, hinweg über die verschwundene innerdeutsche Grenze.Until the beginning of the Second World War the scholarly libraries of what is nowadays known as the ‘New Länder’ (‘new federal states’), and especially those in Saxonia, had excellent collections of art literature. The war brought severe losses through devastation and transportation of war booty out of the country. In the following decades, lack of foreign currency impeded the acquisition of international academic literature. The Sächsische Landesbibliothek in Dresden concentrated its budget on its focal collection subject, fine arts, and it has ever since been a centre for acquisition and information, in particular for the universities of the country. After German reunification, since 1990, there has been a flow of money from different sources to enable the acquisition of the most recent literature and to complete most of the inconvenient gaps. Simultaneously, libraries, especially those belonging to universities and art academies, have been equipped with modern technology, and have been integrated into a library network which unites the formerly divided nation.

Zusammenfassung Einleitung Die Hypothermiebehandlung (TH) verbessert bei Neugeborenen mit hypoxisch-ischämischer Enzephalopathie (HIE) das Outcome und sollte bei Hinweisen für eine perinatale Asphyxie und Zeichen einer moderaten oder schweren HIE angewendet werden. Material/Methode Die Häufigkeit der HIE und der Anwendung der TH wurde aus den Daten der Neonatalerhebung und den Daten des 2010 etablierten Hypothermieregisters extrahiert. Letztere wurden darüber hinaus zur Analyse des kurzfristigen Outcomes herangezogen. Ergebnisse Zwischen 2010 und 2017 schlossen sich 106 der 213 (Stand März 2020) deutschen Perinatalzentren dem Register an. Die Rückantwortquote lag zwischen 22 und 60%. Im Register wurden pro Jahr im Median 164 (IQR 115–224) TH bei Neugeborenen mit HIE erfasst, in der Neonatalerhebung 517 (382–664) bei 543 (432–583) Fällen von HIE. Seit 2014 lag die Zahl der TH über den berichteten Fällen von HIE. Nach TH bei klassischer Indikationsstellung verstarben 10,4% (8–13%) der Neugeborenen. 81% (78–82%) der Neugeborenen wurden nach Hause entlassen, 3,6% (3–5%) in eine Rehabilitationseinrichtung bzw. 5,4% (5–7%) in eine andere Klinik verlegt. Bei Entlassung wurden 89% (87–89%) der Patienten ausschließlich oral ernährt. Diskussion Nach Etablierung der TH in die klinische Routine stieg die Zahl der behandelten Neugeborenen kontinuierlich an. Aktuell liegt die Zahl der TH über der Anzahl der Neugeborenen mit HIE, was nur schwer zu erklären ist, da das Vorliegen einer moderaten oder schweren HIE Voraussetzung für die TH ist. Die Daten des Hypothermieregisters zeigen für den untersuchten Zeitraum keine deutlichen Veränderungen bezüglich Mortalität oder neurologischem Outcome.

ZusammenfassungDer vorliegende Erfahrungsbericht umfasst 557 Fälle der Nachbehandlung von Rückfußfrakturen, vornehmlich von 362 operativ versorgten Kalkaneusfrakturen, davon 252 bilateral, mittels eines von den Autoren entwickelten Rückfußentlastungsstiefels. Dieser entspricht funktionell der Allgöwer-Röck-Orthese (ARO), stellt aber ein medizinisches Heil- und Hilfsmittel als Hybride von Stiefel und Orthese dar, der mittels der großen Boden-Sohlen-Kontaktfläche gegenüber der gummierten Kontaktzone (9 × 3 cm) des ARO-Bügels dem Patienten eine wesentlich bessere Stand- und Gehfähigkeit ohne Unterarmgehstützen ermöglicht. Während der Stiefel der 1. Generation mit einem abgekröpften U-Stahlbügel und angeschweißter Bodenplatte zur Aufnahme der Röck-Orthesen-Schale einzeln gefertigt wurde und in 408 Fällen in der Zeit von 3/1999 bis 2/2011 ausschließlich Patienten der Klinik für Unfall- und Wiederherstellungschirurgie am Universitätsklinikum Carl Gustav Carus, Dresden zur Verfügung stand, ist der Stiefel der 2. Generation seit 3/2011 bis 2/2016 (n = 149) im modularen Prinzip mit einem Aluminium-U-Profil leichter, stabiler und zwischenzeitlich für alle Patienten außerhalb Dresdens verfügbar. Die wesentliche Neuerung besteht in dem aus einem Stück gefertigten Aluminium-U-Profil, das sich fersen- und sohlenwärts trapezförmig erweitert und mit einer Größe von 11,0 × 6,5 cm des kurzen U-Schenkels in die mehrschichtige Stiefelsohle eingelassen und mit 4 Schrauben in ihr verankert ist. Die Acrylwadenschale ist beidseits mit je 2 Schrauben an den 2 langen U-Schenkeln befestigt. Diese nimmt zusammen mit der ventralen freien, ebenfalls schaumstoffgepolsterten Acrylpatellarschale nach formschlüssigem Schnellverschluss durch 2 individuell eingestellte Kunststoffschnallen kompakt das Gewebe von Wade, Schienbeinkopf und Patella auf, wodurch die Bodenreaktionskräfte nach proximal abgeleitet werden und somit den Rückfuß bei ca. 20° eingestelltem Spitzfuß trotz voller Körperlast im Stehen und Gehen komplett entlasten. Durch die Kraftaufnahme vorfußseitig via Metatarsaleköpfchen und Zehen erscheinen Koordinationsfähigkeit des Patienten und Kalksalzgehalt des Fußskeletts gegenüber dem freischwebenden Fuß in der Allgöwer-Röck-Orthese begünstigt zu werden. In allen 557 Anwendungen des Stiefel an 401 Patienten im mittleren Alter von 39,9 Jahren (14–80 Jahre), davon 83,9% männlich, konnte in keinem einzigen Fall eine Dislokation der Rückfußfraktur oder eine Wundkomplikation gesehen werden, die auf den Gebrauch des Stiefels hätte zurückgeführt werden können. Auch keine manifeste Thrombose bei genereller Verordnung von niedermolekularem Heparin und Unterschenkelkompressionsstrümpfen der Klasse CCL1 konnte gesehen werden, ebenso wenig eine Minderung der OSG-Beweglichkeit (OSG: oberes Sprunggelenk) unter wahrgenommener Krankengymnastik während der Tragedauer des Stiefels im Mittel von 12,3 Wochen. Während in der 1. Generation des Stiefels in 4 von 408 Fällen (0,9%) ein Ermüdungsbruch des U-Stahlbügels ohne Schaden für den Rückfuß beobachtet wurde, war in den 149 Fällen der 2. Generation am Aluminium-U-Bügel weder ein Riss noch ein Bruch bei vergleichbarer Tragedauer gesehen worden.

Abstract Background: In recent phase-III trials, the rate of intracranial haemorrhage (ICH) - the most feared complication of anticoagulant therapy - was around 0.8% per year for patients treated with vitamin K antagonists (VKA) and consistently lower (around 0.3-0.5%) for patients treated with the non-VKA oral anticoagulants (NOACs) rivaroxaban and dabigatran However, patients in clinical trials present a selected population treated under a strict protocol in dedicated academic facilities. Consequently, the risk, management and outcome of ICH need to be evaluated in cohorts of patients treated with NOACs or VKA in daily care. Aim: To evaluate the rate of ICH in patients treated with NOAC compared to VKA patients. Patients and methods: The prospective NOAC registry was initiated in November 2011. A network of more than 230 physicians in the district of Saxony, Germany, enrol up to 3000 patients in the registry, which are prospectively followed by the central registry office for up to 60 months with central outcome event adjudication. For this analysis, every intracranial haemorrhage was identified in the database and ICH management and outcome were evaluated. Results: Until January 31th 2015, 2682 patients were registered and treated with dabigatran (348, mostly treated for atrial fibrillation), Rivaroxaban (1907; 1204 treated for atrial fibrillation and 703 for venous thromboembolism) or vitamin K antagonists (427; treated for atrial fibrillation). VKA patients had lower HAS-BLED scores compared to NOAC patients and were excellently managed with a time-in-therapeutic-range of 75%. During follow-up (mean follow-up duration 25.6 months) ICH occurred in 7/427(1.6%) of VKA treated patients and in 14/2255 (0.6%) of patients treated with NOAC, which translated into an annualized rate of 1.3 events/100 pt. years (95%-CI 0.5-2.7) for VKA and 0.4 events/100 pt. years (95%-CI 0.2-0.6) for NOAC (p=0.0039). Treatment of ICH consisted of PCC in 10 cases, plasma in 3 cases and surgical or interventional therapy in 7 cases (table 1, multiple treatments possible). As indicated, use of factor concentrates, plasma or other hemostatic agents or surgery was much more frequent in VKA patients compared to NOAC patients. Table 1. The surviving 14 patients received the following antithrombotic agents: 5 (35.7%) rivaroxaban, 3 (21.4%) heparin, 1 (7.1%) apixaban, 1 (7.1%) VKA, 3 (21.4%) aspirin, 1 (7.1%) none.Following ICH, oral anticoagulation therapy was either interrupted (n=7; 6 NOAC vs. 1 VKA) or permanently discontinued (n=10; 6 NOAC vs. 4 VKA). Conclusion: Despite low bleeding risk and excellent INR control in our VKA cohort, the rate of ICH was higher than that of VKA patients treated in recent phase-III trials. Furthermore, ICH rates in our VKA cohort were significantly higher than those seen in our NOAC cohorts, which represented more patients with relevant comorbidities and higher bleeding risk. Consequently, the risk of ICH remains high even in "stable" VKA patients with good INR control and a preventive switch from VKA to NOAC may help to reduce ICH risk and should be discussed with the patient. AbstractComplex iridium oxides have attracted recently a substantial interdisciplinary attention due to an intimate entanglement of spin and orbital degrees of freedom which may give rise to a novel spin–orbital Mott insulating behavior and exotic quantum spin liquid phases. Electron spin resonance (ESR) spectroscopy is known to be an instructive tool for studying the spin–orbital coupling (SOC) effects as it can directly access the relevant parameters sensitive to SOC, such as the g factor tensor, magnetic anisotropy gaps and spin dynamics. In this article, a systematic study at the Leibniz IFW Dresden of the static and dynamic properties of selected Ir-based materials with multi-frequency high-field ESR spectroscopy will be reviewed. Specifically, evidence for a surprisingly isotropic antiferromagnetic spin dynamics and the inversion of the orbital states in the prototypical spin–orbital Mott insulator $$\text {Sr}_2\text {IrO}_4$$ Sr 2 IrO 4 , observation of the collective resonance modes in the family of double perovskites $$\text {La}_2$$ La 2 B$$\text {IrO}_6$$ IrO 6 (B = Cu, Co) and the origin of the unexpected magnetism in the double perovskite $$\text {Ba}_2\text {YIrO}_6$$ Ba 2 YIrO 6 will be highlighted.

SummaryAtrial fibrillation (AF) patients treated with well-controlled vitamin K antagonists (VKAs) may benefit less from non-vitamin K antagonist oral anticoagulants (NOACs) because they are supposed to be at low risk of thromboembolic and bleeding complications. However, little is known about the selection, management, and outcome of such “stable” VKA patients in current practice. We assessed characteristics, VKA persistence and 12 months' outcome of AF patients selected for VKA continuation. On March 1, 2013, the Dresden NOAC registry opened recruitment of patients continuing on VKA for sites that had been actively recruiting AF patients treated with NOACs in the prior 18 months. Patient characteristics were compared with those of NOAC patients from the same sites. Four hundred twenty-seven VKA patients had a significantly lower bleeding risk profile compared with 706 patients selected for NOAC treatment. For VKA, international normalised ratio time-in-therapeutic range before enrolment was 71% and increased to 75% during a mean follow-up of 15 months. Rates of stroke/transient ischaemic attack/systemic embolism were 1.3/100 patient-years (intention-to-treat) and 0.94/100 patient-years (as-treated). On-treatment rate of ISTH major bleeding was 4.15/100 patient-years (95% CI 2.60–6.29) with a case-fatality rate of 16.3% (all-cause mortality at day 90 after major bleeding). In conclusion, in daily care, AF patients selected for VKA therapy are healthier than those treated with NOAC, demonstrate a high quality of anticoagulant control and very low stroke rates. However, despite adequate patient selection and INR control, the risk of major VKA bleeding is unacceptably high and bleeding outcome is poor.

The tomb, referred to as Tomb 1, was discovered in Chiapa de Corzo, Chiapas, Mexico. In here, two skeletons were excavated along with a rich offering of green stone pieces, indicating their elite origin. The burial dresses consist of various necklaces, bracelets, belts, and anklets from which some beads were carved in the shape of gourds, monkeys, and alligators. Here we present a full, integrated methodology based on a variety of non-invasive and non-destructive analytical techniques, such as X-ray fluorescence (XRF), Raman, and Fourier Transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy. These techniques are used to characterize and identify the minerals which were found in these burials. This information contributes not only to conservation and restoration purposes, but also gives more insights on the green stone (jadeite and other minerals) trading networks between different cultures in south Mesoamerica in the Pre-Classic period (c.a. 750 – 700 B. C.).

Der Artikel beleuchtet die verblüffend reichhaltige Überlieferung von für die Bachforschung relevanten Textdrucken des 18. Jh. in der russischen Staatsbibliothek St. Petersburg und bietet über die im BJ 1973 von Wolfgang Hobohm gebotene Übersicht der damals bekannten Quellen (Link s.u.) hinaus eine Bibliografie neu aufgefundener Textdrucke zu Vokalwerken Bachs und seiner Zeitgenossen (S. 35-43). Genauer werden daraufhin Textdrucke zu Werken von Vorgängern und Nachfolgern J. S. Bachs dargestellt (mit Incipits der einzelnen Sätze) (S. 43-61). Textdrucke zu Werken von Bach selbst werden in zwei Abteilungen behandelt; S. 61-77 geistliche, S. 85-88 weltliche Kantaten. Dazwischen wird der Text des Passionsoratoriums von 1734 erläutert, der erstmals die genaue Bestimmung dieses Werkes als Ein Lämmlein geht und trägt die Schuld G. H. Stölzels erlaubt. Abstract Background Older admitted patients are at risk of deconditioning related to immobility. “Fit to Sit” is a simple change in the Emergency Department (ED) culture and attitude, promoting independence, maximizing well-being and improving health outcomes. We aim to describe the prevalence of patients deemed “Fit to Sit” who were in hospital gowns and lying on trolleys in our ED prior to the commencement of the “Fit to Sit” pilot. Methods An observational study was conducted prospectively, over five working days, to determine the proportion of patients present who were dressed and sitting out on a chair, opposed to wearing pyjamas (PJs) and lying on a trolley. Nursing staff familiar with each patient were asked whether or not the patient was fit to sit out in a chair. Statistical analysis was conducted with Microsoft Excel using the chi squared test to calculate differences between the two groups. Results Data was collected on 147 patients, median age 66 years (IQR 47-74). 82% were on a trolley and 18% in a chair. 33% were in their clothes, the remaining 67% were in PJs or hospital gowns. 45% of those deemed “Fit to Sit” were on a trolley. Patients 65 and older were more likely to be wearing PJs (p= 0.03), but not more likely to be on a trolley (p= 0.23). Patients in ED for greater than 12 hours were also more likely to be in PJs (p= 0.001) and on a trolley (p= 0.057). Conclusion Our study suggests that a significant proportion of ED patients are lying on trolleys despite being deemed to be “Fit to Sit”. Introduction of an ED “Fit to Sit” programme may alleviate deconditioning and promote patient independence.

Pagrindinės šių opų priežastys – kojų venų patologija, arterijų ligos ir cukrinis diabetas. Lėtinių opų gydomosiomis priemonėmis siekiama trijų tikslų: šalinti ligą sukėlusią priežastį, simptomiškai gydyti žaizdą ir gerinti ligonio gyvenimo kokybę. Nepaisant šiuolaikiško gydymo, kojų trofinės opos gyja ilgai, gydymas kainuoja labai brangiai. Tyrimus Lietuvoje atlikę autoriai nustatė, kad mūsų šalyje ligoniai per metus opų gydymui išleidžia nuo 500 iki 2000 litų asmeninių pinigų. Tai gana didelė suma vyresnio amžiaus ligoniams, kadangi daugelio jų pajamos nesiekia ir 500 litų. Konservatyviam gydymui naudojamų medikamentų ir kitų priemonių gausa dar kartą parodo, kad nėra aiškios ir patvirtintos trofininių opų konservatyvaus gydymo taktikos. Lietuvoje pasitaiko ligonių, kurių opos labai užleistos, t. y. didelės, infekuotos, nekrozės apimtais dugnais, gydyti jas konservatyviomis priemonėmis nesiseka ilgą laiką. Tokie ligoniai operuojami persodinant odos dalies transplantatą, kad pagerėtų jų gyvenimo kokybė. Todėl kyla klausimas – kuo reikėtų tvarstyti opas, kad kiek įmanoma greičiau paruoštume jas operacijai, kartu sumažintume ligonio skausmus ir racionaliai panaudotume gydymui skirtas lėšas? Ligoniai ir metodai Siekdami įsitikinti, ar veiksmingas hidrokoloidinis tvarstis ruošiant opas operacijai, išnagrinėjome 2001–2003 m. operuotų KMUK Chirurgijos klinikos Plastinės chirurgijos ir nudegimų skyriuje ligonių, kuriems buvo didelės trofinės kojų opos (50 cm2 ir didesnės), ligos istorijų duomenis. Visiems opos iki operacijos tvarstytos hidrokoloidiniais tvarsčiais. Jei išrašant ligonį iš stacionaro likęs nesiepitelizavęs opos plotas buvo didesnis nei 5 cm2, laikyta, kad dalis transplantato neprigijo. Rezultatai Prospektyvaus tyrimo duomenimis, 34,69% (17) opų rasta S. aureus, 18,38% (9) P. aeruginosa, 10,20% (5) – kitų mikroorganizmų, 10,20% (5) opų pasėliuose patogenų neišauginta ir 26,53% (13) opų užterštumas netirtas. Vertindami tyrimo rezultatus nustatėme, kad 29 (59,18%) ligonių autodermotransplantatas visiškai prigijo, dalis transplantato neprigijo 20 (40,82%) ligonių. Kad visiškai neprigytų odos transplantatas, nepasitaikė. Išvados Hidrokoloidiniais Granuflex tvarsčiais ambulatoriškai galima paruošti opas, kad sėkmingai atliktume autodermoplastiką. Mūsų stebėjimų duomenimis, hidrokoloidiniais tvarsčiais galima tvarstyti netgi bakterijomis užterštas žaizdas. Treatment of chronic ulcers is pointed towards etiopatological treatment, symptomatic treatment of the ulcer and to a better quality of life of the patients. Despite the modern ways of treatment, the curing of leg ulcers still remains a long and extremely expensive process. The authors who have made researches in Lithuania have established that the patients spend from 500 to 2000 litas of personal money per year for the treatment of their leg ulcers in our country. It is quite a big sum for the elderly patients, because in most cases their income does not exceed 500 litas per month. The abundance of means of conservative treatment shows again that there is no clear and confirmed treatment of trophical leg ulcers. Part of the ulcers in Lithuania appear to be neglected, big, with necrosis at the bottom and infected and thus extremely hard to treat by conservative methods. These patients are operated on by transplanting a part skin thickness skin graft to improve their quality of life. Therefore a question arises: what should these ulcers be dressed with to prepare them for surgical treatment as soon as possible, alongside with decreasing the pain and ensuring an efficient use of money for the treatment? Patients and methods We have analyzed data on the patients operated on at KMUH Department of Plastic Surgery and Burns during the period 2001–2003 with leg ulcers larger than 50 cm2 to make sure that the hydrocolloid dressing was effective. If the square of the ulcer still remained more than 5 cm2 upon releasing the patient from the hospital, it was considered that part of the graft was not taken. Results During prospective studies, in the ulcers we have found: Staphylococcus aureus in 34.69% (17) , Pseudomonas aeruginosa in 18,38% (9), other microorganisms in 10,20% (5); in 10,20% (5) there were no pathogenic microorganisms, and 26.53% (13) of the patients were not examined. When estimating the results of the study we have found that the graft was fully taken in 29 (59.18%) cases and part of the graft was not taken in 20 (40.82%) cases. There was no full rejection of the graft. Conclusions We have arrived to the conclusion that it is possible to prepare an ulcer for surgical treatment with Granuflex in out-patient department. This research focuses on designing low-cost aids in teaching materials, to help children with developmental disabilities. Using flash software and power point as interface design with the assistance of interactive device could also be developed teaching materials for children. When detected by a wii remote and infrared (IR emitter) device, corresponding information appears on a screen to increase the interaction of assistive technology aimed at children by adopting an enhanced learning process. There are two cases on this study, they are actually applied on children with developmental disabilities, and the overall equipment cost is approximately US$50.Case 1 is a child wearing hats with reflective stickers, a wii remote with an infrared emitter board in front. When we performed the initial probing of their interactive physical activity, the child was asked to wear hats with reflective stickers, while the teachers asked him to perform continual actions of standing and squatting. Sensors were set up next to the child so that when the child performed the movements, the movements would be sensed by the sensor. The signals were emitted to the computer, and then the corresponding synchronized screen would be displayed immediately. To put it simply, we used the cheap reflective stickers as a mouse, therefore we can design different teaching module courses. Case 2 is one kind of teaching materials for customer design, the participant is also a child with developmental disabilities.In this case, the research took the pictures of the subjects, then edited the images in flash through a mouse. The participating children wore the reflective stickers on their hands, when they moved their hands, their images on the screen would move accordingly as well. In this case, we dressed up the children differently, when the children saw that they were displayed on the screen, and the cursor movements were controlled by their limbs, they felt very happy. In this research, the devices relied upon user-center design, reducing the learning loading from their teaching materials and enhance their learning motivation and interest.

Happiness as an ethical category and as one of the most universal dimensions of human world views has been recognized as one of the most important concepts in the specification of ethnic culture within the paradigm of humanitities. The objective of this paper is therefore to reveal the notion of happiness in Latgalian fairy tales. For this purpose, one hundred Latgalian fairy tales were selected in which the word ‘happiness’ was used in different forms and combinations. Taking into consideration the specifics of a folklore text, a linguoculturological approach was used to determine the notion of happiness in Latgalian folklore, and to observe the concept of happiness in folklore texts in the discourses of language and culture and of language and ethnic mentality (Маслова 2001: 28). This concept is interpreted in this paper as a body of collective knowledge, which expresses itself through language and which shows the specifics of an ethnic culture (Воркачев 2002: 22). Three components are distinguished in the structure of the concept – a notional, a figurative, and an axiological component. Of these, the notional component is considered to be the most important one by the majority of researchers (Карасик 1999: 39). It is disclosed in the semantics of the language of folklore when studying the lexemes that happiness is connected with, in the analysis of semantic and pragmatic aspects of the word ‘happiness’, regarding word combinations where happiness is described specifically along the most typical components, and from a contrastive view which allows to identify happiness in comparison to unhappiness. Contextual semantics of the notion of happiness reveals one of the most common theories of the notion of happiness – happiness as luck or as a coincidence of favorable circumstances. A lucky situation can in Latgalian fairy tales also be defined according to the importance of the task which has to be accomplished by a hero and when it is particularly difficult or even impossible to fulfil. In such cases, happiness is denoted with the use of adjectives and as an accomplishment, thereby changing the emphasis from chance to the lucky hero. In the end of the fairy tales, the adverb ‘laimeigi’ (‘happily’) or the adjective ‘laimeigs/-a’ (‘happy’) appears most often in combination with the word ‘dzeivuoja’ (‘lived’), thereby suggesting that there is a special awareness of the word combination „happy life” in Latgalian consciousness. Final formulas of fairy tales relating to the basic elements of happiness distinguish social well-being from the well-being of a family. In addition, fragments of other values contribute to elements of happiness in the final formulas, for example, life/health, harmony, and even loneliness. Under the influence of Christianity, wealth looses importance as a subject of happiness, and its place is taken by the combination of poverty and happiness. A perspective of action of the characters regarding happiness in fairy tales is also created by verbs, which allow to divide characters into three groups: those who look for happiness for themselves, those who give happiness to others, and those who try to deprive others of happiness. Traditionally, protagonists of fairy tales fall into the first group. Their actions are described by using the verbs ‘to look for’, ‘to get’, ‘to meet’, ‘to catch’, or ‘to inquire’, which all imply an active behaviour. In the second group there are so called magic helpers, whose actions are characterized by the verbs ‘to wish’, ‘to make’, ‘to give’, ‘to promise’, or ‘to enchant’. In the third group there are the antagonists of a hero who are best described with the word ‘to envy’. Verbs as a characterization of an attitude towards happiness attest an active position of the characters in the Latgalian fairy tales. Even when happiness is predetermined, the characters do not remain static but actively participate in securing happiness. According to the logic of mythological thinking, happiness is made understandable and organized in recognizable artistic images and positioned in the local environment in equivalence to humans. Two of the most popular artistic techniques of substantiating happiness are anthropomorphization and objectification, which evolve along demythologization. There are two ways of interpreting happiness as an anthropomorphic image. First, the characterization of happiness emphasizes elements symbolizing prosperity and wealth: happiness is dressed in gold and silver (12.A.735.), it appears as a corpulent woman (11.A.735.) or a beautiful girl whose wreath shines like the sun (7.), etc. The second technique is to describe the appearance of happiness in correspondence to the hero’s psychological notion of happiness – when a hero is unhappy, happiness is a black old maid (7.), pale or exhausted (15.A.735.567.). Typical of a hero’s attitude towards happiness are persistence and even superiority. Additional features in the anthropomorphic image of happiness are revealed in those fairy tales where happiness tries its strength against the personifications of other moral values, such as wisdom (8.A.736.). In the end of these fairy tales, wisdom has to admit that wisdom without happiness is not possible. Equally great significance of both moral values (also in reversed priority) is revealed in the paroemiac folk foundation: Laima bez gudreibas ir caurojs maiss. (LSD, 1940 2971) (Happiness without wisdom is like a sack full of holes). An objectification of happiness appears in fairy tales where the idea of happiness is immanently part of the idea of money as a source and a content of happiness. In these fairy tales money can appear to people in the form of a wolf, a bird, a midge, etc. Such an interpretation of happiness was probably determined by the human belief in happiness and the possibility of finding it. Happiness can appear in different unexpected ways, and humans shall only be prepared to recognize it and grasp it. The analyzed material of fairy tales shows how the Latgalians see, understand and evaluate happiness. To sum up the conclusions made in the paper, it shall be noted that happiness is one of the highest moral values of the Latgalians. It is interpreted as both luck and destiny. The Latgalians are active regarding happiness – they look for happiness and they find it. If necessary, they remind happiness of their existence and are not afraid of changing their lives. Regarding the content of values of happiness, the most important parts are well-being (different ways of wealth/prosperity) and family happiness (with a spouse or parents). However, under the influence of Christianity, fairy tales introduced also philosophical contemplation about the problem – whether happiness really is about wealth, whether a poor person can be happy, and whether happiness is possible in this world at all. Folklore does not give the one and only correct answer to what happiness is. Folklore shows where happiness could possibly be and how one can obtain it. Specific aspects of the interpretation of happiness in Latgalian folklore can also be found in other genres of folklore, for instance in folk songs and brahilogisms. It is very well possible that other ethnic groups emphasize different aspects in the interpretation of happiness which should be studied separately. However, as studies of the concept of happiness point out, due to the influence of globalization ethnic differences in the interpretation of happiness could be evened out (Veenhoven 1995: 5).

Abstract Dressed states were proposed to define the infrared (IR) finite S-matrix in QED or gravity. We show that the original Kulish-Faddeev dressed states are not enough to cure the IR divergences. To illustrate this problem, we consider QED with background currents (Wilson lines). This theory is exactly solvable but shares the same IR problems as the full QED. We show that naive asymptotic states lead to IR divergences in the S-matrix and are also inconsistent with the asymptotic symmetry, even if we add the original Kulish-Faddeev dressing operators. We then propose new dressed states which are consistent with the asymptotic symmetry. We show that the S-matrix for the dressed states is IR finite. We finally conclude that appropriate dressed asymptotic states define the IR finite S-matrix in the full QED.

Abstract Ionization of laser-dressed atomic helium is investigated with focus on photoelectron angular distributions stemming from two-color multi-photon excited states. The experiment combines extreme ultraviolet (XUV) with infrared (IR) radiation, while the relative polarization and the temporal delay between the pulses can be varied. By means of an XUV photon energy scan over several electronvolts, we get access to excited states in the dressed atom exhibiting various binding energies, angular momenta, and magnetic quantum numbers. Furthermore, varying the relative polarization is employed as a handle to switch on and off the population of certain states that are only accessible by two-photon excitation. In this way, photoemission can be suppressed for specific XUV photon energies. Additionally, we investigate the dependence of the photoelectron angular distributions on the IR laser intensity. At our higher IR intensities, we start leaving the simple multi-photon ionization regime. The interpretation of the experimental results is supported by numerically solving the time-dependent Schrödinger equation in a single-active-electron approximation. Graphic abstract

AbstractThe Grolier Codex has been a controversial document ever since its late discovery in 1965. Because of its rare iconographical content and its unknown origin, specialists are not keen to assure its authenticity that would set it amongst the other tree known Maya codes in the world (Dresden, Paris Codex and Madrid Codex).The document that has been kept in the Museo Nacional de Antropología in Mexico City, after its exposure in 1971 at the Grolier Club of New York, has been analyzed by a set of non-destructive techniques in order to characterize its materials including paper fibers, preparation layer and colors composition. The methodology included UV imaging, IR reflectography and optic microscopy examinations as well as Particle Induced X-ray Emission (PIXE) and Rutherford Backscattering Spectrometry (RBS) using an external beam setup for elemental analysis. All the measurements were carried out at 3MV Pelletron Accelerator of the Instituto de Física, UNAM. The aim of this work is to verify if the materials in the Grolier Codex match those found for other pre-Hispanic documents.From the elemental composition we concluded that the preparation layer shows the presence of gypsum (CaSO4), color red is due to red hematite (Fe2O3) and black is a carbon-based ink. These results agree with previous analyses carried out by Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM-EDX) on few samples. However, the presence of Maya Blue in the blue pigment cannot be assured. The examination using UV and IR lights shows homogeneity in the inks and red color but dark areas that contain higher amounts of K in the preparation layer. This paper discusses the results obtained for the UV-IR examinations and the elemental analysis. A comparison with other studies on pre-Hispanic and early colonial codex is presented.

Abstract The all-loop resummation of SU(N) gauge theory amplitudes is known to factorize into an IR-divergent (soft and collinear) factor and a finite (hard) piece. The divergent factor is universal, whereas the hard function is a process-dependent quantity.We prove that this factorization persists for the corresponding celestial amplitudes. Moreover, the soft/collinear factor becomes a scalar correlator of the product of renormalized Wilson lines defined in terms of celestial data. Their effect on the hard amplitude is a shift in the scaling dimensions by an infinite amount, proportional to the cusp anomalous dimension. This leads us to conclude that the celestial-IR-safe gluon amplitude corresponds to a expectation value of operators dressed with Wilson line primaries. These results hold for finite N.In the large N limit, we show that the soft/collinear correlator can be described in terms of vertex operators in a Coulomb gas of colored scalar primaries with nearest neighbor interactions. In the particular cases of four and five gluons in planar $$ \mathcal{N} $$ N = 4 SYM theory, where the hard factor is known to exponentiate, we establish that the Mellin transform converges in the UV thanks to the fact that the cusp anomalous dimension is a positive quantity. In other words, the very existence of the full celestial amplitude is owed to the positivity of the cusp anomalous dimension.

Abstract We investigate how quantum dynamics affects the propagation of a scalar field in Lorentzian AdS. We work in momentum space, in which the propagator admits two spectral representations (denoted “conformal” and “momentum”) in addition to a closed-form one, and all have a simple split structure. Focusing on scalar bubbles, we compute the imaginary part of the self-energy ImΠ in the three representations, which involves the evaluation of seemingly very different objects. We explicitly prove their equivalence in any dimension, and derive some elementary and asymptotic properties of ImΠ.Using a WKB-like approach in the timelike region, we evaluate the propagator dressed with the imaginary part of the self-energy. We find that the dressing from loops exponentially dampens the propagator when one of the endpoints is in the IR region, rendering this region opaque to propagation. This suppression may have implications for field-theoretical model-building in AdS. We argue that in the effective theory (EFT) paradigm, opacity of the IR region induced by higher dimensional operators censors the region of EFT breakdown. This confirms earlier expectations from the literature. Specializing to AdS5, we determine a universal contribution to opacity from gravity.
