Abstract:
Stomatal response to leaf-to-air vapour pressure deficit (LAVPD) was studied in the annual arid zone C4 grasses Schoenefeldia gracilis, Dactyloctenium aegyptium and Eragrostis tremula and in the C3 species, convolvulus, Ipomoea pes-tigridis and Ipomoea vagans. Stomatal responses to LAVPD were consistent with the drought survival strategies adopted by the different species. In drought resistant species (S. gracilis, I. vagansand I. pes-tigridis) stomatal conductance showed a negative response to increasing LAVPD whereas, in drought escaping species (D. aegyptium and E. tremula), stomatal conduc

Green syntheses of silver nanoparticles have fascinated currently and simple method instead of physical and chemical approaches. In the present study, bioengineered nanoparticles were synthesized using fresh leaves of Ipomoea pes-tigridis. Synthesized nanoparticles were characterized and confirmed by UV Spectrophotometer, followed by EDX, SEM, XRD and FTIR. The nanoparticle size and morphology was confirmed through scanning electron microscope. The resonant oscillation of conduction of electrons with the sample was observed by UV spectra and obtained the peak 440nm. The energy dispersive X-ray

Nowadays there is a need for scientific justification of plants that have been used in traditional medicine because of loss of information, improvement of therapy and deforestation that is taking place. The majority of the natural products are compounds biosynthetically derived from primary metabolites and are generally categorized as secondary metabolites. These are the major sources of the pharmaceutical industry to discover novel drugs. The basis for interest in natural product chemistry serves as a lead compound for newer drugs, give as much information on possible mechanism and thus on th

In climbers the stems are weak and these plants need various climbing devices in order to support growth and development. The climbers are predominately angiosperms. The present study chiefly focuses on diversity of climbers in Vallanadu Black-buck Sanctuary. The present study recorded 28 herbaceous climbers and 14 lianas from the scrub forest of Vallanadu Black-buck sanctuary. In dicotyledons, 15 families containing 33 genera and 40 species were recorded. In monocotyledons, 2 families containing 1 genus and 1species each were recorded. Background: Sweet potato (Ipomoea batatas (L.) Lam.), a key global root crop, faces challenges due to its narrow genetic background. This issue can be addressed by utilizing the diverse genetic resources of sweet potato’s wild relatives, which are invaluable for its genetic improvement. Methods: The morphological differences in leaves, stems, and roots among 13 Ipomoea species were observed and compared. Chromosome numbers were determined by examining metaphase cells from root tips. Fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) was used to identify the number of 5S and 18S rDNA sites in these spec
