Abstract:
The demand for multimedia content over the Internet protocol network is growing exponentially with Internet users’ growth. Despite high reliability and well-defined infrastructure for Internet protocol communication, Quality of Experience (QoE) is the primary focus of multimedia users while getting multimedia contents with flawless or smooth video streaming in less time with high availability. Failure to provide satisfactory QoE results in the churning of the viewers. QoE depends on various factors, such as those related to the network infrastructure that significantly affects perceived quality. Furthermore, the video delivery’s impact also plays an essential role in the overall QoE that can be made efficient by delivering content through specialized content delivery architectures called Content Delivery Networks (CDNs). This article proposes a design that enables effective and efficient streaming, distribution, and caching multimedia content. Moreover, experiments are carried out for the factors impacting QoE, and their behavior is evaluated. The statistical data is taken from real architecture and analysis. Likewise, we have compared the response time and throughput with the varying segment size in adaptive bitrate video streaming. Moreover, resource usage is also analyzed by incorporating the effect of CPU consumption and energy consumption over segment size, which will be counted as effective efforts for sustainable development of multimedia systems. The proposed architecture is validated and indulged as a core component for video streaming based on the use case of a Mobile IPTV solution for 4G/LTE Users.

Abstract:
This study aims to statistically identify significant factors that influence IPTS selection in Malaysia using binary logistic regression. There are three phases in this study namely Identification of Variables, Distribution of Questionnaire and Analysis of Results. The variables used in the questionnaire were adapted from the past study of the authors. Nine factors in the selection of HEIs were identified and adapted in this study. Questionnaire was selected as the research tool and electronically distributed to the students of seven IPTS throughout Terengganu with a total response of 305. Results were loaded into SPSS for statistical analysis using descriptive, exploratory, normality, correlation, reliability, and binary logistic regression. The results reveal three significant factors in the selection of IPTS namely Cost, Social Factors and Job Prospects. Although accuracy is high, the model is not suitable for prediction since the variation is less than 70%. Findings for this study could support IPTS marketing strategies and better understanding of IPTS selection criteria in Malaysia.

Abstract:
Objective. This study examined the preliminary reliability and validity of the PedsQL™ Family Impact Module (PedsQL FIM) in families of children with Barth syndrome (BTHS). Method. A total of 72 parents with children or youth between the ages of 5 and 19 participated in this study. Thirty-three parents of children with BTHS and 39 parents of unaffected children completed the PedsQL FIM and a demographic information form. Internal consistency reliability and item-total correlations were calculated to test the reliability of the PedsQL FIM. Construct validity was examined using the known-groups method. We estimated the mean score differences of the PedsQL FIM between the two groups using three different models, including unadjusted, multivariate regression, and propensity score matching with inverse probability of treatment weighting (PS-IPTW) models. Results. The Cronbach’s alpha coefficients were greater than 0.70 for all scales of the PedsQL FIM, except for the communication scale. The item-total correlations were significant for all scales with moderate to high correlations (p<.05). In construct validity, the mean scores of the PedsQL FIM between the two groups were significantly different (p<.05) for all scales and total score in the unadjusted and PS-IPTW models. However, in the multivariate regression model, the family relationships scale was not significant between the two groups. Conclusion. The PedsQL FIM demonstrated adequate measurement properties of preliminary reliability and validity in assessing the impact of children with BTHS on parental health-related quality of life (HRQoL) and family functioning. Further research needs to be conducted to examine the psychometric properties of the PedsQL FIM with a large sample of BTHS and with other pediatric rare diseases.

This article, written by JPT Technology Editor Chris Carpenter, contains highlights of paper IPTC 21430, “Deepwater Subsea BOP Technological and Reliability Advancement,” by Mahesh Picha, SPE, Malik Faisal Abdullah, and Ashutosh Rai, Petronas, et al. The paper has not been peer reviewed. Copyright 2021 International Petroleum Technology Conference. Reproduced by permission. Subsea blowout preventer (SBOP) reliability is a major challenge in deepwater drilling and completion operations, accounting for a large portion of major equipment failures and nonproductive time (NPT) costs annually. The complete paper focuses on SBOP technological advancement since the Macondo incident in 2010, with emphasis on reliability, equipment-condition monitoring, and statistical root-cause analysis. The development of new technologies has targeted overall cost optimization of the well life cycle but also has been aimed at assuring SBOP functionality. Introduction Drilling contractors are required to establish minimum standards of redundancy and reliability of their SBOP systems and are required to implement an auditable risk-management process to ensure that their SBOP systems operate above minimum standards. A 2015 study found that 38% of NPT events were related to SBOP issues. Of this 38%, 56% were associated with maintenance, 22% with manufacturing issues, 16% with not following operational procedures, and 6% with training time. Because maintenance-related NPT was the major contributor, a detailed analysis was performed and found that frequency of the maintenance cycle, insufficient detailing of maintenance procedures, a lack of specific tools, insufficient spare parts onboard, and unavailability of technical documentation were responsible.

Abstract:
Spiritual intelligence is an important element towards the formation of a noble personality within a person. As university students are the nation's potential human capital, they need to have spiritual intelligence to achieve a high level of integrity. This pilot study was conducted to identify the reliability of instruments to measure the level of spiritual intelligence and understanding of integrity among Muslim IPTA students in Malaysia. This study is based on a quantitative study using digital questionnaires and the method used is random stratified sampling with a sample size of 30 Muslim students. The use of a digital questionnaire allows data to be collected and analyzed quickly. Research on previous studies was conducted to build these two variable instruments. The Cronbach alpha coefficient value of the spiritual intelligence instrument is 0.848 while the Cronbach alpha coefficient value of the integrity instrument is 0.756. Thus, the variable reliability of this instrument is acceptable. The study data were analyzed using IBM 'Statistical Package of Social Science' (SPSS) version 26 to assess the frequency, percentage, average, and correlation test. Analysis of data on spiritual intelligence was conducted using a descriptive test of frequency where a mean between 4.53 and 5.83 was obtained. These results show that the level of spiritual intelligence is high among students. Meanwhile, the integrity test was conducted using frequency test showed the majority of students understand the meaning of integrity. The results of the correlation test r = 0.138 showed a positive but weak relationship between the two variables of spiritual intelligence and integrity and P = 0.467 showed this relationship was not significant. The methodology of this study has provided empirical evidence on the current level of spiritual intelligence and understanding of integrity among the Muslim IPTA students in Malaysia.

Abstract:
Introduction The Interpersonal Needs Questionnaire (INQ-15) and the Acquired Capability for Suicide Scale - Fearlessness About Death (ACSS-FAD) have been introduced to evaluate the theoretical constructs posit by Joiner’s Interpersonal Psychological Theory of Suicide (IPTS). Objectives The present study aimed to evaluate the psychometric properties of the INQ-15 (which measures Thwarted Belongingness, TB, and Perceived Burdensomeness, PB) and the ACSS-FAD (measurement of Fearlessness About Death, FAD, dimension of the acquired capability) in a population of Italian university students. Methods Since there was no Italian version of the ACSS-FAD, we have translated it through an accurate multistage procedure. ACSS-FAD and INQ-15 have been administered to a sample of 1,665 Italian university students. We analyzed the factorial structure of the INQ-15 and the ACSS-FAD, their reliability, criterion, convergent and discriminant validity. Results Principal Component Analysis confirmed a two-dimensional structure for INQ-15 and a one-factor structure for ACSS-FAD. Internal consistency reliability of the scales was good, respectively TB: α = .85; PB: α = .90; and FAD: α = .85. The INQ-15 demonstrated concurrent associations with suicidal ideation, while the ACSS-FAD with a history of suicidal planning/suicide attempt. Convergent and discriminant validity were also in line with previous studies. Conclusions Both INQ-15 and ACSS-FAD appropriately capture the respective constructs, proving to be valid measures for the assessment of suicide risk factors among Italian university students according to the IPTS. The valuable psychometric properties of the two scales established with this study in the Italian context encourages their use to advance the clinical understanding and prevention of suicide. Disclosure No significant relationships.

Abstract:
The aim of this thesis is to provide optimization algorithms for accessing video services either in unmanaged or managed ways. We study recent statistics about unmanaged video services like YouTube and propose suitable optimization techniques that could enhance files accessing and reduce their access costs. Moreover, this cost analysis plays an important role in decision making about video files caching and hosting periods on the servers. Under managed video services called IPTV, we conducted experiments for an open-IPTV collaborative architecture between different operators. This model is analyzed in terms of CAPEX and OPEX costs inside the domestic sphere. Moreover, we introduced a dynamic way for optimizing the Minimum Spanning Tree (MST) for multicast IPTV service. In nomadic access, the static trees could be unable to provide the service in an efficient manner as the utilization of bandwidth increases towards the streaming points (roots of topologies). Finally, we study reliable security measures in video streaming based on hash chain methodology and propose a new algorithm. Then, we conduct comparisons between different ways used in achieving reliability of hash chains based on generic classifications

Abstract:
IP networks have become the unified platform that supports a rice and extremely diverse set of applications and services, including traditional IP data service, Voice over IP (VoIP), smart mobile devices (e.g., iPhone), Internet television (IPTV) and online gaming. Network performance and reliability are critical issues in today's operational networks because many applications place increasingly stringent reliability and performance requirements. Even the smallest network performance degradation could cause significant customer distress. In addition, new network and service features (e.g., MPLS fast re-route capabilities) are continually rolled out across the network to support new applications, improve network performance, and reduce the operational cost. Network operators are challenged with ensuring that network reliability and performance is improved over time even in the face of constant changes, network and service upgrades and recurring faulty behaviors. It is critical to detect, troubleshoot and repair performance degradations in a timely and accurate fashion. This is extremely challenging in large IP networks due to their massive scale, complicated topology, high protocol complexity, and continuously evolving nature through either software or hardware upgrades, configuration changes or traffic engineering. In this dissertation, we first propose a novel infrastructure NICE (Network-wide Information Correlation and Exploration) that enables detection and troubleshooting of chronic network conditions by analyzing statistical correlations across multiple data sources. NICE uses a novel circular permutation test to determine the statistical significance of correlation. It also allows flexible analysis at various spatial granularity (e.g., link, router, network level, etc.). We validate NICE using real measurement data collected at a tier-1 ISP network. The results are quite positive. We then apply NICE to troubleshoot real network issues in the tier-1 ISP network. In all three case studies, NICE successfully uncovers previously unknown chronic network conditions, resulting in improved network operations. Second, we extend NICE to detect and troubleshoot performance problems in IPTV networks. Compared to traditional ISP networks, IPTV distribution network typically adopts a different structure (tree-like multicast as opposed to mesh), imposes more restrictive service constraints (both in reliability and performance), and often faces a much larger scalability issue (managing millions of residential gateways versus thousands of provider-edge routers). Tailoring to the scale and structure of IPTV network, we propose a novel multi-resolution data analysis approach Giza that enables fast detection and localization of regions in the multicast tree hierarchy where the problem becomes significant. Furthermore, we develop several statistical data mining techniques to troubleshoot the identified problems and diagnose their root causes. Validation against operational experiences demonstrates the effectiveness of our approach in detecting important performance issues and identifying interesting dependencies. Finally, we design and implement a novel infrastructure MERCURY for detecting the impact of network upgrades on performance. It is crucial to monitor the network when upgrades are made because they can have a significant impact on network performance and if not monitored may lead to unexpected consequences in operational networks. This can be achieved manually for a small number of devices, but does not scale to large networks with hundreds or thousands of routers and extremely large number of different upgrades made on a regular basis. MERCURY extracts interesting triggers from a large number of network maintenance activities. It then identifies behavior changes in network performance caused by the triggers. It uses statistical rule mining and network configuration to identify commonality across the behavior changes. We systematically evaluate MERCURY using data collected at a large tier-1 ISP network. By comparing to operational practice, we show that MERCURY is able to capture the interesting triggers and behavior changes induced by the triggers. In some cases, MERCURY also discovers previously unknown network behaviors demonstrating the effectiveness in identifying network conditions flying under the radar.

Abstract:
The Residential Gateway (RGW) is a key device, located on the customer premises, that stands between the home network and the access network. It imposes a considerable cost for the NSP and constitutes a single point of failure for all the services offered to residential customers – such as Internet access, VoIP, IPTV and Video-on-Demand. As such, the RGW constitutes an ideal candidate for virtualization, potentially relieving the NSP from such problems while also providing benefits to end-users. This chapter discusses the rationale and proposes an architecture for a virtualized Residential Gateway (vRGW) that physically removes the RGW from the customer premises, moving it into the operator data center or other logical point-of-presence, as a virtualized entity. This solution potentially reduces deployment, maintenance and operation costs, whilst improving overall performance, flexibility, reliability and manageability – both for the access network infrastructure and for the services provided over this infrastructure.

Abstract:
Abstract Subsea blowout preventer (SBOP) reliability is a major challenge in Deepwater Drilling & Completion operations, accounting for one of the major equipment failures and Non-Productive Time (NPT) costs yearly. This paper focuses on SBOP technological advancement since the Deepwater Horizon/Macondo incident in 2010, with additional emphasis on reliability, equipment condition monitoring and statistical root cause analysis. After finishing a deepwater well, the SBOP must undergo maintenance, repair if needed and pressure testing before being deployed on the next well. The rig owner is under great pressure to complete this turn-around to avoid waiting time. On an average, in-between wells, rig contractor took approximately 2.6 days extra time (NPT) waiting after completing top hole to get ready to deploy SBOP during 2019-20 exploration and appraisal campaigns. This can be critical during development campaigns where number of rig moves are involved quickly or in cases where top holes are batch drilled the waiting time for SBOP readiness can be as high as 7-8 days per well. Some operators are collaborating with drilling contractors in number of ways to arrange for a second fully assembled and (offline) pressure tested SBOP to be available on the rig (Dual SBOP); deployment of additional trained subsea engineers for performing maintenance/repair. SBOP pressure-testing time can also be drastically reduced by using comparative pressure-testing software to eliminate human error and accelerate pressure testing. Furthermore, leak detection time can be eliminated by installing sensors, and real-time test monitoring providing increased reliability with the additional advantages that conditional monitoring can be enhanced with the same digital sensors. SBOP dashboard that simplifies existing diagnosis and allow remote monitoring of the subsea SBOP control system will improve communication of SBOP health also serve common platform across rig fleets that allow standardization of SBOP diagnostic data and aids in operational decision making Ensuring additional SBOP redundancy especially while operating Emergency Disconnect System (EDS) available through Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) control panel or acoustic system. In addition, it is mandatory for the SBOP to have Autoshear and Deadman systems to be able to shut in the well in case of an emergency. Furthermore, technological workshop with several major service vendors have being held to ascertain current advances like Multifunctional profile, Accumulator recharged by ROV, ROV DP system, An Auxiliary Accumulator System and upgraded Acoustic System. In the end, the development of new technologies applied for the SBOP targets the overall cost optimization of the well lifecycle but also assure SBOP functionality. This paper is intended to provide considerations for operators in developing their future campaigns to frame scope of work for SBOP and rig contracting strategy.
