Background: Nanotechnology offers an advantage as a green route for synthesis of metal nanoparticles (NPs) with plant extracts as capping agent. Spondias mombin is a fruit-bearing tree and its leaf extracts have been reported to possess anxiolytic, hypoglycaemic, antiepileptic, antipsychotic, sedative, antioxidant, and antimicrobial properties. The objective of the study is to determine the antibacterial potential of a simple non-toxic product of green synthesis of metallic (Ag, Zn and Cu) nanoparticles using the leaf of Spondias mombin aqueous extracts (SMAE) as a reducing and capping agents

In this paper, we review a comparison of the empirical and chemiometrical approaches to the modelization of the effects of solvent on a number of NMR, IR and UV–visible spectral properties. The solvents have first been characterized by the π*, α and β scales, which describe respectively the polarity–polarisability, the acidity, and the basicity by hydrogen bond; the 17 most representative, with orthogonal parameters, have been chosen. An attempt has been made to rationalize the observed effects on the observed properties by using simple linear empirical models like the π*, α, and β parameters

Until recently, several works described the fundamental nature of the phase transition in a contradictory way, attributing it either to a structure-induced electron-phonon interaction: the Peierls transition [1], or to a strong electron-electron correlation: the Mott transition [2].

An ultrafast laser apparatus has been developed that allows time-resolved UV-visible and infrared spectroscopy to be performed with a time resolution of 200 fs. The instrument design allows UV-vis and IR data to be collected either as spectra or as kinetic profiles. Solution flow and cell translation sampling systems have been developed that allow the handling of chemical and biochemical systems, including highly air-sensitive materials and volumes as small as 50 μL. The apparatus performance has been evaluated with the use of trans-stilbene in hexane (UV-vis) and silicon (IR) test samples, an

An avalanche silicon photodiode has been developed for the near IR, visible, UV and VUV light ranges. The external quantum efficiency has been studied in the 114-170 and 210-1100 nm ranges. It has been demonstrated that the avalanche photodiode reaches the quantum yield of 29 to 9300 electrons/photon at the 160 nm wavelength and bias voltage of 190-303 V, respectively. We have investigated the infrared reflectivity, UV-visible spectra and electrical property of polycrystalline RFeO3 (R = La, Nd, Gd, Dy, Er) synthesized by sol–gel method. Analysis of IR reflectivity spectra through Lorentz oscillator model has led to the observation of 14 IR active phonon modes out of 25 predicted modes. The results have been discussed in terms of different phonon bands related to the origin of atomic vibrations, which provides information about the structural evolution. Electronics and photonics have a long and successful history of combining to provide many devices and products that are at the heart of the modern technological world, ranging form solar cells to lasers to digital displays. In this presentation I will first give a brief historical overview of the interplay and interdependence of electronics and photonics. The properties and effects that are commonly exploited in opto/electronics fall primarily in two areas: (a) the effect of incident light (or more generally radiation) due to optical absorption/transmission/reflection and the conversion of pho

AbstractThe copolymers containing carbazole unit and iridium complexes, such as (Ir(bpy)2Cl, Ir(mbpy)2Cl and Ir(Brbpy)2Cl, were synthesized via radical copolymerization of N-vinylcarbazole, methyl methacrylate and iridium complex. The synthesized copolymers were characterized by FT-IR, UV-Vis absorption spectroscopy and photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy, respectively. According to the results, the copolymers (Ir(Brbpy)2Cl/PVK and Ir(mbpy)2Cl/PVK) exhibit yellow phosphorescence with an emission peak at around 553 nm under UV-visible light in the solid state. The results also reveal almost com

In this study, the sol-gel method was successfully used to synthesize S-TiO2 for efficient photocatalytic degradation of Ciprofloxacin solution under visible irradiation. These synthesized materials were characterized by various analytical methods such as XRD, SEM-EDX, FT-IR, and UV diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (DRS). XRD, SEM-EDX, and FT-IR confirmed the successful preparation of these materials. The UV-DSR demonstrated that the material has a lower bandgap in comparison with prime TiO2. The photodegradation results reported that the 0.33S-TiO2 had shown high efficiency in the degradation

HST will have a dramatic impact on our view of the universe. However, it is by no means premature to address the issue of its successor, even though HST has not yet been launched. We must look ahead with the realistic view that HST will degrade and will need to be replaced.
