Abstract:
ObjectiveAtrial fibrillation (AF) is one of the most common side effects of ibrutinib, a drug that has dramatically improved the prognosis of chronic B-cell malignancies such as chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (CLL). The true incidence of ibrutinib-related AF (IRAF) is not well known and its therapeutic management poses unique challenges especially due to the inherent risk of bleeding. We aimed to determine the incidence and predictors of IRAF, and to analyse its management and outcome.MethodsA standardised monitoring was applied at two cardio-oncology clinics in consecutive patients referred before and during ibrutinib therapy. The primary endpoint was the incidence of IRAF. The excess of AF incidence with ibrutinib was studied by comparing the incidence of IRAF with the expected incidence of AF in general population and in patients with CLL not exposed to ibrutinib.Results53 patients were included. The incidence of IRAF was 38% at 2 years and the risk was 15-fold higher than the AF risk in both the general population and patients with CLL not exposed to ibrutinib (p<0.0001). The majority of cases occurred in asymptomatic patients within the first 6 months. Left atrial volume index ≥40 mL/m2 at treatment initiation identified patients at high risk of developing IRAF. No major bleeding events occurred in patients on ibrutinib, although the majority of patients with IRAF were treated with anticoagulants.ConclusionsThis cardio-oncology study showed that the risk of IRAF was much higher than previously reported. The majority of cases occurred in asymptomatic patients justifying close monitoring.

Abstract:
Herein we describe the characteristics of scanning laser ophthalmoscope imaging (SLO), and particularly of near-infrared fundus autofluorescence modality (IRAF), in photic maculopathy. IRAF visualizes selectively the melanin granules contained in the cells of the Retinal Pigment Epithelium (RPE), which are normally localized in the apical portion of RPE cells, a favorite target of the photic damage to the retina. In the present work we report a three-month follow-up of a case of photic maculopathy, showing that the retinal alterations found by IRAF precisely matched the retinal anomalies found by macular optical coherence tomography, and had a parallel evolution. We think that IRAF could represent a useful imaging modality, together with more conventional imaging, in the management of photic maculopathy.

Abstract:
Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to investigate the relationship between short-wavelength autofluorescence (SWAF) and infrared autofluorescence (IRAF) patterns in pachychoroid neovasculopathy (PNV) with serous retinal detachment (SRD). Methods: This study used an observational case series of 62 eyes of 58 consecutive patients diagnosed with symptomatic PNV from January 2019 and October 2021 at a single institution. SWAF and IRAF patterns were analyzed with disease chronicity, and autofluorescence changes in macular neovascularization (MNV) were assessed in two images. Results: SWAF patterns and the mean duration of symptoms were as follows: blocked (15 eyes, 24%), 1.0 months; mottled (8 eyes, 13%), 2.8 months; hyper (24 eyes, 39%), 5.0 months; hyper/hypo (10 eyes, 16%), 7.0 months; descending tract (5 eyes, 8%), 12.0 months (p < 0.01). IRAF patterns and the mean duration of symptoms were as follows: blocked (17 eyes, 27%), 1.0 months; hyper (22 eyes, 35%), 4.0 months; mixed/hyper dominant (9 eyes, 15%), 5.0 months; mixed/hypo dominant (9 eyes, 15%), 6.8 months; descending tract (5 eyes, 8%), 12.0 months (p < 0.01). Abnormal autofluorescence corresponding to MNV lesion was seen in 34 eyes (55%) with SWAF and 59 eyes (95%) with IRAF (p < 0.01). Conclusions: SWAF and IRAF show multiple patterns and are related to disease chronicity in symptomatic PNV. IRAF could be helpful in detecting the lesion of MNV.

Abstract:
Abstract Intermittent irrigation has attracted much attention as a water-saving technology in arid and semi-arid regions. For understanding the effect of intermittent irrigation on water and solute storage varied from irrigation amount per time (IRA), irrigation application frequency (IRAF), irrigation intervals (IRI) and even soil texture (ST), intermittent irrigation experiment was carried out in 33 micro-plots in Inner Mongolia, China. The experiment results were used for the calibration and validation of HYDRUS-1D software. Then 3 ST (silty clay loam, silty loam, and silty clay), 5 IRA (2, 4, 6, 8, and 10 cm), 4 IRAF (2, 3, 4, and 5 times) and 4 IRI (1, 2, 3, and 4 days) were combined and total 240 scenarios were simulated by HYDRUS-1D. Analysis of variance (ANVOA) of simulated results indicated that ST, IRA, and IRAF had significant effect on salt and nitrate nitrogen (NO3−-N) storage of 0-40 cm depth soil in intermittent irrigation while only ST affected soil water storage obviously. Furthermore, salt leaching percentage (SLP) and water use efficiency (WUE) of 0-40 cm depth were calculated and statistical prediction models for SLP were established based on the ANOVA using multiple regression analysis in each soil texture. Then constraint conditions of soil water storage (around field capacity), salt storage (smaller than 168 mg·cm−2), WUE (as large as possible) in 0-40 cm depth and total irrigation water amount (less than 25 cm) were proposed to find out the optimal intermittent irrigation strategies. Before sowing, the optimal irrigation strategy for silty clay loam soil was 6 cm IRA, 3 times IRAF, and 2 days IRI respectively. For silty loam and silty clay soils, IRA, IRAF, and IRI were 8 cm, 3 times, and 2 days respectively.

Abstract:
Abstract We provide a suite of public open-source spectral data-reduction software to rapidly obtain scientific products from all forms of long-slit-like spectroscopic observations. Automated SpectroPhotometric REDuction (ASPIRED) is a Python-based spectral data-reduction toolkit. It is designed to be a general toolkit with high flexibility for users to refine and optimize their data-reduction routines for the individual characteristics of their instruments. The default configuration is suitable for low-resolution long-slit spectrometers and provides a quick-look quality output. However, for repeatable science-ready reduced spectral data, some moderate one-time effort is necessary to modify the configuration. Fine-tuning and additional (pre)processing may be required to extend the reduction to systems with more complex setups. It is important to emphasize that although only a few parameters need updating, ensuring their correctness and suitability for generalization to the instrument can take time due to factors such as instrument stability. We compare some example spectra reduced with ASPIRED to published data processed with iraf-based and STARLINK-based pipelines, and find no loss in the quality of the final product. The Python-based, iraf-free ASPIRED can significantly ease the effort of an astronomer in constructing their own data-reduction workflow, enabling simpler solutions to data-reduction automation. This availability of near-real-time, science-ready data will allow adaptive observing strategies, particularly important in, but not limited to, time-domain astronomy.

Abstract:
The reduction of integral field spectroscopy (IFS) data requires several stages and many repetitive operations to convert raw data into, typically, a large number of spectra. Instead there are several semiautomatic data reduction tools and here we present this data reduction process using some of the Image Reduction and Analysis Facility (IRAF) tasks devoted to reduce spectroscopic data. After explaining the whole process, we illustrate the power of this instrumental technique with some results obtained for the object HH202 in the Orion Nebula (Mesa-Delgado et al., 2009).

Czanik, Robert Johann. "An optical study of the high mass star forming region RCW 34 / Robert Johann Czanik." Thesis, North-West University, 2013. http://hdl.handle.net/10394/9102.

Full text
Abstract:
This study consisted of an optical photometric and spectroscopic analysis on a 7′ 7′ field around the Southern high mass star forming region RCW 34. A previous study on RCW 34 in the NIR discov- ered many deeply embedded young stellar objects which were suspected to be T Tauri stars and which justified further investigation. The data used in this study consisted of three sets, the first two are photometric and spectroscopic data sets which were obtained during the first two weeks of February 2002. A third data set of spectroscopic observations was obtained by the author during the second week of 2011 of selected candidates using results from the NIR study and from the photometric data sets. All of the spectroscopy was conducted with the long slit spectrograph on the 1.9-m telescope and the photometry with DANDICAM on the 1.0-m telescope at the South African Astronomical Observatory (SAAO) in Sutherland. Objectives accomplished in the course of this study were to understand, ob- tain, reduce and interpret photometric and long slit spectroscopic CCD images. From the photometric results 57 stars showed excess blue emission on a colour-colour diagram which could be generated by circumstellar matter. The spectroscopic study showed 5 stars that showed H emission and 2 with strong Li absorption lines which confirm the suspicions of the NIR study about T Tauri stars in the region. All of the stars from the spectroscopic study in 2011 were identified as low-mass K or M type stars. Using colour-magnitude diagrams it was possible to see that the majority of the stars in the cluster are low-mass pre-main sequence stars. The stars matching between the optical and NIR filters were plotted on NIR colour-colour diagrams showing that the 5 stars that had H emission lines also had NIR colours characteristic to T Tauri stars. Out of the 5 stars that showed H emission, 2 were found to be classical T Tauris and three were found to be weak line T Tauris.<br>Thesis (MSc (Space Physics))--North-West University, Potchefstroom Campus, 2013

Abstract:
. . )<br>Irak and iran are two neighbouring countries whose relations have never known stability throughout history, due to historic politic and, legal factors which have had great consequencies upon the emergence of the irako-iranian relations problem and upon the border crisis which increased or decreased according to the political circumstances stemming from the nature of the political and ideological contradiction between both countries. Our point, is thus, to analyse the various aspects of the evolution of these relations from 1968 to the present day. To this end the work has two main parts. The first one deals with the nature of the contradictions and political orientations between irak and iran during the period preceding the iranian revolution, which led to an acute political crisis affecting the border problem, and which has been solved in 1975 by the conclusion of the algiers agreement between both countries. A crisis, stronger than the previous one, also marked the period which followed the iranian revolution. It lasted more than one year and ended with the war between irak and iran. The second part deals with the causes and stages of the war and, with the international and regional attempts to put an end to the war and, with the stand of both countries on this question. (. . . )

The data have been observed with the Cassegrain spectrograph installed at the 1.6-m telescope of the Observat?rio do Pico dos Dias, Brazil/Laborat?rio Nacional de Astrof?sica ? Minist?rio da Ci?ncia Tecnologia e Inova??o (OOD/LNA-MCTI). The interface is called "PyOPD-Cass". In this project, the tasks present in IRAF package are sequenced together in order to produce calibrated data in flux and wavelength. Thus, the methodology used to reduce spectral data allows the user to quickly and easily insert all the necessary parameters for the spectral reduction process. The material developed in this work, within the concept of "pipeline", has the advantage of minimizing the time in the spectral reduction. As application of the computational process, we show only the spectral reduction to a selected set of 73 peculiar galaxies with emission lines observed over the long-term project carried out in OPD/LNA-MCTI ("Spectroscopic Study of Peculiar Galaxies and associations", OP2012A-009). The scientific results of these active galaxies will be discussed later in another study, already under development. Abstract:
Abstract This chapter provides a checklist for the family Mymaridae. It provides information on species diversity, host records, distribution records by province in Iran, as well as world distribution. Comparison of the mymarid fauna of Iran with adjacent countries indicates that the fauna of Russia (104 species) is much greater than that of Iran (33 species), followed by Turkey (19 species), Turkmenistan (11 species), Pakistan and United Arab Emirates (five species) and Iraq and Oman (both with one species); no species have been recorded from the other eight neighbouring countries. However, the much fewer number of species recorded from countries other than Russia, including Iran, certainly results from inadequate sampling and poor taxonomic study. Russia shares the highest number of known species with Iran (21 species), followed by Turkey (11 species), Turkmenistan (one species), Pakistan (two species) and Iraq, Oman, United Arab Emirates and the former USSR (each with one species).

Abstract:

Abstract:
Following the collapse of the Kurdish revolution in 1975 in the wake of Algiers Agreement1975 between Iraq and Iran, the governing Baath regime in Baghdad found itself free against the National Kurdish Movement, carrying out a series of genocide and ethnic cleansing operations against Kurds in Iraq. The government lunched wide arrest campaign against members of Kurdish opposition and destroyed many border villages in order to create a 20-kilometer security belt alongside the borders with Turkey and Iran with mines planted there. That area was declared to be a military zone accessed only by the Iraqi army. That required evacuating 500 villages which caused thousands of Kurds to seek refuge in Iran in fear of apprehension or murder. These developments were accompanied by a displacement process carried out by the Iraqi government on March 31st 1975 against member of Al-Barzani clan in Barzan area, who were displaced to the desert in Al-Qadisiya province and were only allowed to return to Kurdistan in the 1980 in the condition that they do not go back to their original areas. This was followed by the Anfal campaign which destroyed more than four thousand villages and displaced more than half a million Kurds to the Iraqi southern deserts while other thousands fled to Iran. It was in the Anfal campaign that the tragedy of Halabja occurred where chemical weapons were used on March 16th 1988 causing the death of more than five thousand Kurds and horrible unprecedented scene.

Abstract:
In September 2010 it was reported that Saudi Arabia had sought the US Government’s permission to purchase large numbers of combat aircraft and helicopters from US companies. This was just the latest indication that Saudi Arabia is planning a new arms-purchasing spree similar to that in the 1990s, raising questions about the possible impacts of military build-ups in the Gulf region, which includes both Iran and Iraq alongside the Arab states of the Gulf. Transparency is poor in most of the Gulf region. This SIPRI Fact Sheet combines data on known military spending and recent and planned arms imports in the Gulf states: Bahrain, Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.
