Abstract Variables important in predicting the final postsurgical outcome of 435 patients who sustained missile head wounds during the Iran-Iraq War were evaluated over a 99-month period. The type of projectile, site of injury, and presence or absence of foreign material did not seem to have a significant effect on the final outcome. Of the patients with a perforating type of injury, 48.8% had a poor surgical outcome as compared with 19.9% with a penetrating type and 15.6% with a tangential type. This difference is statistically significant (x2 = 14.7 and 17.1, respectively; p < 0.001).

Unlike English, Saudi Arabic allows grammatical resumption in complex wh-interrogatives, which is highly preferred with (D)iscourse-linked wh-forms (e. g. ʔayy-NP ‘which-NP’) but disallowed with non-D-linked ones (e. g. ʔeeʃ ‘what’).

AbstractSpecies identification is fundamentally important within the fields of biology, biogeography, ecology and conservation. The genusGeraniumL. According to the most recent treatments, subg.Geraniumis the largest subgenus with over 370 species classified in ten sections. The subg.Geraniumis represented in Iran by 13 species. These species are grouped 3 sections. In spite vast distribution of manyGeraniumspecies that grow in Iran, there are not any available report on their genetic diversity, mode of d

Iran is known as the most complex and varied country in southwest Asia, in terms of geography, vegetation, climate and consequently biological diversity. The rather high number of recorded endemic species of Fulgoromorpha in Iran indicates a high potential for speciation in some areas. In this study, in order to identify the endemic zones for Fulgoromorpha of Iran, three main biogeographic regions of the country were divided into 13 primary zones, mainly according to the distribution of published and unpublished locality records of endemic species. AbstractKamut wheat, said to have been derived from seed found in the Egyptian pyramids, appeared on the market about 25 years ago. We have investigated its taxonomic placement using microsatellite genotyping. In all, 89 accessions of 13 tetraploid wheat species, along with samples of Kamut wheat, were genotyped using two A and B genome wheat microsatellite markers per chromosome, generating 453 alleles (8–33 alleles per locus), and a mean allelic polymorphic information content (PIC) of 0.80. A diversity analysis showed that nine major accession groups could be defined, and these were inconsi

The total fixed capital formation is one of the main and influential determinants of production function through its impact on production costs, competitiveness, and profits. The Iraqi gross domestic product depends on one sector (the oil sector) in financing the government budget, which may lead to crises in case of oil price collapse. Therefore, the study aims to clarify the imbalance in the production function and the real output of the Iraqi economy and to indicate the role of the total fixed capital formation in this imbalance.
