Abstract:
The United States Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) of 2022 has established incentives to facilitate the energy transition. While these policies provide economic incen-tives that encourage investment and may reduce financial risk for the private sector on the supply side, transitioning to a lower carbon or net-zero economy by 2050 presents several challenges. These include designing flexible production systems that can interact with inter-mittent renewable energy resources, ensure process safety, redesigning existing energy infrastructure to support new energy carriers like hydrogen or ammonia, a

Abstract:
Rigid inclusions are a ground improvement technique that provides soil reinforcement and settlement mitigation using drilled displacement elements. Rigid inclusion installation typically uses a Monitoring While Drilling (MWD) electronic logging system that captures data such as torque, downward thrust, rotary speed and grout take with depth and time. Installation of each rigid inclusion can be considered data from a large-scale in-situ test consisting of penetration of a rotating probe into the ground. Automatically generated graphic logs are typically reviewed visually by members of a project

Abstract:
This paper presents methods to improve the performance of rubber isolators by controlling their Internal Resonances (IRs). IRs are associated with isolators’ internal elastic motions that are due to their inertia. It is well known that IRs degrade the isolator performance as predicted by ideal massless isolator models. However, to the best of the authors’ knowledge, there are no reported works on the suppression of such IRs to improve the isolator performance. This paper proposes two novel approaches to suppress IRs. The first approach uses passive dynamic vibration absorbers (PDVA’s) directly

Abstract:
A receptor for fibrinogen on the platelet GP Ila/lIIb complex is induced by ADP, thrombin and other agonists. To study functional domains on GP Ilb/IIIa, the effects of anti-GP Ilb/IIIa monoclonal antibodies (Mab’s) on platelet function were determined. One of these Mab’s, 6C9, induced platelet aggregation. The antibody binds to the intact GP Ilb/IIIa complex only, not to free GP lib or free GP Ilia. Its epitope is different from that of C17, a Mab that inhibits ADP-induced fibrinogen binding and platelet aggregation. 6C9 induces fibrinogen-mediated aggregation rather than agglutination since

The aim of the recently published climate control by the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU) is a reduction of the German greenhouse gas emissions down to 20 % in 2050, compared to the generated greenhouse gas in 1990. To reach the given target a huge growth in renewable energy is necessary. One of the most potential possibilities to produce renewable energy in Germany will be the installation of offshore wind turbines. Although the IDB is not subject to the Principles for the Management of Credit Risk issued by the Basel Committee for Banking Supervision, these principles have been used as guidelines for this assessment. It can be concluded that the IDB largely complies with Basel's credit risk management principles. To further develop what is already a solid foundation for its credit risk management system, it is recommended that the IDB adopts a comprehensive Credit Risk Framework that clearly defines its risk
