A presença de religiosos de confissões cristãs nas instituições penais demonstra a importância desse segmento na dinâmica social da prisão e evidencia de maneira clara as diferenças entre o comportamento dos detentos não religiosos e os que professam a religiosidade cristã, sobretudo evangélica. Nesse sentido, a pesquisa, realizada na Penitenciária Professor Ariosvaldo de Campos Pires, em Juiz de Fora, trata das especificidades das condutas adotadas pelos detentos convertidos à religiosidade evangélica, sua influência na dinâmica social do cárcere e no cotidiano das relações que ali se desenvolvem. Para tanto, utilizo dois conceitos principais: o de “proceder” – que designa um complexo número de regras criadas por e seguidas ou não pelos detentos – conforme elaboração de Marques (2009) - e o de “conversão religiosa”, utilizado no sentido de mudança de visão de mundo do fiel. Constatei que, a partir da conversão, o detento passaria por uma reforma moral subjetiva que se reflete em sua interação com o coletivo e, assim, daria seguimento aos preceitos e valores cristãos em forma de uma conduta moralmente aceitável, resultando o “proceder evangélico”, ou seja, espécie de código de condutas seguido por presos religiosos. Os detentos que aderem a tal “proceder” sofrem intensa vigilância (tanto por parte dos próprios detentos, como pelos funcionários em geral) como forma de teste de sua fé, de modo que não podem cometer nenhuma contravenção, o que nos leva à compreensão de que há certa noção de moralidade religiosa que norteia tanto quem vigia quanto quem é vigiado. Assim, o “proceder” religioso consistiria numa prática ou conduta que se orienta pela moralidade – palavra – cristã. A pesquisa foi realizada na Penitenciária Professor Ariosvaldo de Campos Pires, Juiz de Fora.<br>The present research deals with the discussion about Christian religiosity in prison, as a possibility of guiding discourse of individual and collective conduct. The presence of religious of Christian confessions in penal institutions demonstrates the importance of this segment in the social dynamics of prison and clearly evidences the differences between the behavior of non-religious detainees and those who profess Christian religiosity, especially evangelical. In this sense, the research, carried out at Professor Ariovasdo de Campos Pires Penitentiary, in Juiz de Fora, deals with the specificities of the conduct adopted by detainees converted to evangelical religiosity, its influence on the social dynamics of the prison and the daily life of the relationships that are developed there. For this purpose, I use two main concepts: that of "proceeding" - which designates a complex number of rules created by and followed or not by detainees - as elaborated by Marques (2009) - and that of "religious conversion", used in the sense of worldview change of the faithful. I observed that, from the conversion, the detainee would go through a subjective moral reform that reflects in his interaction with the collective and, thus, would follow up Christian precepts and values in form of a morally acceptable conduct, resulting in "evangelical conduct", in other words, a kind of code of conduct followed by religious prisoners. Detainees who adhere to such "proceeding" are subjected to intense vigilance (both by detainees themselves and by officials in general) as a way of testing their faith, so that they cannot commit any contravention, which leads us to a comprehension that there is a certain notion of religious morality that guides both those who watch and those who are watched. Thus, religious "proceeding" would consist of a practice or conduct that is oriented by morality – Christian word. The research was carried out at Professor Ariosvaldo de Campos Pires Penitentiary, Juiz de Fora.

ITC/USA 2011 Conference Proceedings / The Forty-Seventh Annual International Telemetering Conference and Technical Exhibition / October 24-27, 2011 / Bally's Las Vegas, Las Vegas, Nevada<br>The Western Aeronautical Test Range (WATR) staff at the NASA Dryden Flight Research Center is developing a translation software called Chapter 10 Tools in response to challenges posed by post-flight processing data files originating from various on-board digital recorders that follow the Range Commanders Council Inter-Range Instrumentation Group (IRIG) 106 Chapter 10 Digital Recording Standard but use differing interpretations of the Standard. The software will read the date files regardless of the vendor implementation of the source recorder, displaying data, identifying and correcting errors, and producing a data file that can be successfully processed post-flight.

International Telemetering Conference Proceedings / October 26-29, 1992 / Town and Country Hotel and Convention Center, San Diego, California<br>Due to the vast amount of data required to be collected for design/performance analysis of operational and development systems, there has evolved a real requirement for a high-speed, large capacity, data collection/record system in a small Flight/Ruggedized package. This need is realized by several user communities and factors which include the evolution of small operational vehicles (airborne, land and UAV’s), the desire of weapons manufacturers/integrators to be independent from the vehicle during vehicle integration, and a general need for a field/airborne, reliable portable data collection system for intelligence gathering, operational performance verification and on-board data processing. In the Air Defence community, the need for a ruggedized record system was highlighted after Desert Storm, in which the operational performance of the Patriot Missile was questioned and data collection was not performed to support the performance. The Aydin Vector Division in conjunction with the prime contractor, has come up with a solution to this problem which utilizes a commercially available helical scan 8mm data storage unit. This solution provides a highly reliable record system, ruggedized for airborne and field environments and a low price in comparison with the more traditional approaches currently offered. This paper will describe the design implementation of this small ruggedized, flight worthy Data collection system deemed the ATD-800. It will also discuss the performance and limitations of implementing such a system, as well as provide several applications and solutions to different operational environments to be encountered. Additionally, the paper will conclude with several product enhancements which may benefit the flight test, operational and intelligence communities in the future.

International Telemetering Conference Proceedings / October 25-28, 1999 / Riviera Hotel and Convention Center, Las Vegas, Nevada<br>Today’s telemetry systems can reduce spectrum demand and maintain secure voice by encoding analog voice into digital data using; Continuously Variable Slope Delta Modulation ( CVSD ) format and imbedding it into a telemetry stream. The model CSC-0390 DvD system is an excellent choice in decoding digital voice, designed with flexibility, efficiency, and simplicity in mind. Flexibility in design brings forth a capability of operating on a wide variety of telemetry systems and data formats without any specialized interfaces. The utilization of 74HC series circuit technology makes this DvD system efficient in design, low cost, and lower power consumption. In addition the front panel display and control function is also is an example of Simplicity in design and operation.

Examples of such non-standard data types are radar position information and meteorological data from both ground based and radiosonde systems. To facilitate the process and management of such non-standard data types, a micro-processor based system was developed to acquire and transform them into a standard PCM/TDM data frame. This obviated the expense of developing additional special software and hardware to handle such non-standard data types.

碩士<br>國立暨南國際大學<br>電機工程學系<br>91<br>Abstract In traditional symmetric key cryptosystems, there exist some problems such as cryptographic key generation, management of enormous number of cryptographic keys and authentication of clients’ identity. Although asymmetric key cryptosystems can solve those problems, it is a serious drawback that they cannot encrypt and decrypt data fast. The iris codes are very different since the iris features of human eyes exhibit the high degree of uniqueness. By replacing the traditional DES Iterate table rule with a new iris-code, called iris-cipherkey, constructed from an iris code, the modified DES system, called the Iris Data Encrypted System ﹝IDES﹞, can provide fast encryption and decryption and is more complex than the traditional DES system. Also, by integrating an iris recognition system, the IDES system provides a securer client authentication. In addition, the IDES system is easy to manage the cryptographic keys because the iris feature code for each person is unique. By using the iris code-based cipherkey, the IDES cryptographic system can produce a more complex and securer cryptographic key to increase the security of encrypted techniques.

In addition, there are several terrorist attacks in the recent years, so that the personal identification recognition becomes more important. Therefore , discarding the annoying password and establishing the uniqueness of identity, return to the “biometric identification system” which based on the human characteristics have been a new trend. The iris recognition technology is one of the biometric identification methods which is the most accurate, but it is limited to the hardware, cost and system resources. In our thesis, we try to apply some methods of image processing to the database, which is provided by CASIA. We use the most undisturbed block of iris in the image which have the most obviously of iris features to do our recognition. The matching rate of the CASIA database could be 96.5%. However, most of iris recognition algorithms are implemented based on sequential operations running on central processing units (CPUs). As result, in our thesis we propose a fast and efficient design for iris recognition and implemented in integration circuit in order to improve the iris recognition performance.

This dissertation examines the intersection of English Renaissance drama and conduct literature. Current scholarship on this intersection usually interprets plays as illustrations of cultural behavioral norms who find their model and justification in courtly norms. In this dissertation, I argue that plays present behavioral norms that emerge from this nascent profession and that were thus influenced by this profession and the concerns of the people who worked in it, rather than by the court. To do so, I examine three behavioral norms that were important to courtiers, specifically Disguise, Moderation and Wit through the work of the English Renaissance theater's most celebrated professional, William Shakespeare. Shakespeare's plays evince a theatrical code of conduct that, rather than being an illustration of courtly norms, was sometimes in direct contrast to them and sometimes formed an alternate or lateral code. This code shows a distrust of disguise, a lack of interest in moderation and a belief in the need to eschew wit in favor of a happy ending. The modern theater has retained many of these essential behavioral norms, including the value of community above the self, the need for sympathy and compassion, and the willingness to risk.

Iris recognition constitutes one of the most powerful method for the iden- tification and authentication of people today. This thesis aims to describe the algorithms used in a sophisticated and mathematically correct way, while re- maining comprehensible. The description of these algorithms is not the only objective of this thesis; the reason they were chosen and potential improvements or substitutions are also discussed. The background of iris recognition, its use in cryptosystems, and the application of error-correcting codes are investigated as well.

Translation initiation in the hepatitis C virus (HCV) occurs through a cap- independent mechanism that involves an internal ribosome entry site (IRES) capable of interaction with and utilization of the eukaryotic translational machinery. We focused on the structural configuration of the different HCV-IRES domains and the impact of IRES primary sequence variations on secondary structure conservation and function. For this purpose we introduced into our laboratory, methods such as denaturing gradient and temperature gradient gel electrophoresis for screening the degree of heterogeneity and total amount of HCV-IRES variability accumulated in HCV infected patients over a period of time. The selected samples showed variable migration pattern of the HCV-IRES (from all the patients) visualized in DGGE and TGGE, were sequenced and evaluated for translation efficiency using flow cytometry. In some cases, we discovered that multiple mutations, even those scattered across different domains of HCV-IRES, led to restoration of the HCV-IRES translational activity, although the individual occurrences of these mutations were found to be deleterious. Dottorato di Ricerca in Biologia Animale, XXII Ciclo,a.a.2008-2009<br>Estrogen signalling through ERα plays a central role in many diseases such as breast and endometrial cancer, osteoporosis and cardiovascular disease. In 1996 it has been discovered a second estrogen receptor in rat prostate which has been named ERβ. Both receptors are co-expressed in many tissues and, surprisingly, ERβ was shown to sometimes mediate opposite effects to ERα. In the human, ERα is encoded at 6q25.1 and ERβ at 14q23.2, they have a high degree of homology in the DNA-binding domain (96%), but differ in the ligand-binding domain (53%). Estradiol is a natural ligand of ERα, while DPN (diarylpropionitrile) is a selective agonist of ERβ. The activation of ERα through estradiol increases cell proliferation and positively influences breast tumorogenesis and cell invasion, on the contrary, ERβ, also in the absence of the ligand, appears to oppose the action of ERα, suggesting that the estrogen receptor β could play an important role in carcinogenesis. To better define the action of ERβ, we used an estrogen receptor α positive MCF-7 breast cancer cell line overexpressing, through transient transfection, ERβ. In these cells the ectopic expression of ERβ induces a decrease of cell proliferation and a block of cell cycle in G2/M phase. Taking into account these data, we focused the attention on two proteins involved in the transduction of mitotic signallings: IRS-1 and ERα. The first one, is the major substrate of the tyrosine kinase activity of IR (Insulin Receptor) and IGF-R (Insulin- Like Growth Factor Receptors). This protein exerts a key role in the functional synergism between the growth factor/insulin and estradiol in the mammary gland. In fact, ERα is important to sustain IRS-1 protein expression. and to transactivate IRS-1 gene. On the basis of this finding, we wanted to study the possible influence of ERβ on IRS-1 by monitoring mRNA and protein contents in MCF-7 breast cancer cells. In this context, our results show that the ectopic expression of ERβ is able to negatively regulate the transactivation of IRS-1 promoter thus leading to a decrease of IRS-1 signalling. Further investigations indicate that ERβ appears to act as a dominant2 negative regulator of ERα expression in these cells. Indeed, ERβ represses the transcriptional activity of ERα gene promoter . To better investigate the molecular mechanism underlying the negative regulation of ERβ on ERα gene, we performed EMSA (Electrophoretic Mobility Shift Assay) experiments, by using ERE labelled probes present in ERα promoter. Our results show a decreased binding of the nuclear extracts, obtained from MCF-7 cells overexpressing ERβ, to the ERE labelled nucleotide. In addition, chromatin immunoprecipitation analysis reveals in MCF-7 cells overexpressing ERβ, the specific recruitment of the nuclear corepressor NCoR to these ERE sequences of ERα promoter. The recruitment of this corepressor weakens the binding between ERβ and ERE sequence, thus producing a repression of ERα transcriptional activity. This study is the first evidence to demonstrate that ERβ acts as a dominant negative regulator of ERα gene in breast cancer cells. Our data, in agreement with other findings, tend to better justify how Estrogen Receptor β overexpression in many tissues reduces ERα-regulated gene transcription and, in this way, inhibits the proliferative responses in breast cancer cells.<br>Università della Calabria
