Abstract The article presents data from a long-term phytopathological survey of a collection of varieties Iris x hybrida Hort. Main Botanical Garden named after N.V. Tsitsin RAS (Moscow). Data on diseases of bearded irises in the urban environment were obtained, changes in the composition of the fungal complex in the rhizo- and phyllosphere were studied. Low soil fertility during the adaptation period of bearded irises worsens the formation and development of the root system of plants, increases the likelihood of increased disease damage and premature leaf fall. The New Zealand pāua or black footed abalone, Haliotis iris, is one of many mollusc species at potential risk from ocean acidification and warming. To investigate possible impacts, juvenile pāua (~24 mm shell length) were grown for 4 months in seawater pH/pCO2 conditions projected for 2100. End of century seawater projections (pHT 7.66/pCO2 ~1,000 μatm) were contrasted with local ambient conditions (pHT 8.00/pCO2 ~400 μatm) at two typical temperatures (13 and 15 °C). We used a combination of methods (morphometric, scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction) to investigate effects on juven

In 2018, I entered the final year of my Master of Fine Arts in Visual Communications at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC). During this period, I was still trying to define what a self-directed design practice could be. I come from a fine print etching background and any design work I have done in my life has been design solutions for clients. Self-directed design seemed to be a practice that resided somewhere between these two spaces.
Exactly 20 years previously, I had completed my end-of-school examinations in Ireland. I received my six exam results on a small piece of p

The relevance. Dental implants are widely used in dentistry to restore the dentition. The primary stability of the implant plays a key role in the successful osseointegration and long-term functionality of the implant. The study of the effect of the microrelief of the implant surface on their primary stability of bone tissue is of great practical importance, as it can help determine the optimal characteristics of the implant surface to achieve the best results during its installation. The aim is to evaluate the effect of the micro-roughness of the surface of dental implants on the torque and t

SUMMARY Purpose: This study compared four CAD/CAM lithium disilicate-reinforced glass ceramic systems (IPS e.max CAD, Rosetta SM CAD, T-lithium CAD, and IRIS CAD) regarding their crystalline and microstructural characteristics, thermal properties, mechanical strength, and bonding to a resin cement. Methods and Materials: The crystalline and morphological characteristics of the ceramic microstructure were investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM), thermal behavior was assessed via differential thermal analysis (DTA). Mechanical properties were evaluated usin

The bodies of disordered women … offer themselves as an aggressively graphic text for the interpreter—a text that insists, actually demands, that it be read as a cultural statement, a statement about gender. (Bordo, 94)Violence is transgressive in fundamental ways. It erases boundaries, and imposes agency over others, or groups of others. The assumed social stance is to disapprove, morally and ethically, as a ‘good’ and ‘moral’ female subject. My current research has made me question the simplicity of this approach, to interrogate how aggression socialises power and how resistance to structura
