Abstract:
AbstractInsulin autoimmune syndrome (IAS) and type B insulin resistance syndrome (B-IRS) are rare autoimmune dysglycemia syndromes, but their treatment and prognosis are different. This study aimed to provide a basis for the clinical differential diagnosis of IAS and B-IRS. This was a retrospective study of the medical records of all patients diagnosed with IAS or B-IRS between January 2006 and March 2018 at the Chinese PLA General Hospital. Demographic, clinical, biochemistry, treatment, and follow-up data were examined. There were several different biochemical parameters between IAS (n=13) and B-IRS (n=6): white blood count (WBC, 7.05±3.06 vs. 2.70±0.73×109/l, p=0.004), platelet (249±56.6 vs. 111±68.0×109/l, p<0.001), serum creatine (59.0±17.8 vs. 43.1±7.05 μmol/l, p=0.013), serum albumin (42.3±5.17 vs. 33.6±3.40 g/l, p=0.002), triglyceride (median, 1.33 (1.01, 1.93) vs. 0.56 (0.50, 0.79) mmol/l, p=0.002), plasma IgG (1183±201 vs. 1832±469 mg/ml, p=0.018), IgA (328±140 vs. 469±150 mg/ml, p=0.018), and C3 (128±23.4 vs. 45.3±13.5 mg/l, p<0.001). Fasting insulin in the IAS and B-IRS patients was high (299–4708 vs. 118–851 mU/l, p=0.106), and there was a difference in 2 h oral glucose tolerance test insulin (4217–8343 mU/l vs. 274–1143 mU/l, p=0.012). Glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) in the B-IRS patients was higher than in IAS patients (114±14.4. vs. 40.6±8.89 mmol/mol, p<0.001). Serum insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) was lower in all B-IRS patients (25±0.00 vs. 132±52.7 ng/ml, p<0.001). Although IAS and B-IRS are autoimmune hyperinsulinemic dysglycemic syndromes, several clinical parameters (body mass index, HbA1c, WBC, platelet, albumin, triglyceride, IgG, C3, and IGF-1) are different between these two syndromes.

Abstract:
<em>Wolffia arrhiza</em> (L.) Wimm. (Lemnaceae) as a mixotrophic plant reacts considerably weaker to used auxins with different chemical structures than typical photosynthetic vascular plants and algae especially from Chlorophyta. Among used auxin compounds, the highest stimulative activity on <em>W. arrhiza</em> growth and biochemical parameters which were analysed in biomass, can be attributed to phenylacetic acid (PAA), a somewhat smaller to indole-3-acetic acid (IAA) and the smallest to 2-naphthaleneacetic acid (NAA) used in optimal concentration of 10-6 M, in comparison with the control culture, devoid of exogenous auxins. The investigated auxins, especially PAA and IAA, were found to have the most powerful stimulative activity (prevailingly between the 10th and the 15th day of cultivation) on the content of reducing sugars between 127 and 169%, chlorophyll a and b from 117 to 125%, total carotenoids from 115 to 132% and net photosynthetic rate from 127 to 144% in comparison with the control culture, which was treated as 100% for reference. However, the content of water-soluble proteins as well as nucleic acids (DNA and RNA) in the biomass of <em>W. arrhiza</em> was less effectively stimulated, hardly from 110 to 116% when compared to the control culture (100%).

Abstract:
The goal of this study was to determine an efficient micropropagation system for cranberry (Vaccinium macrocarpon Ait.). Cranberry cultivar Howes was successfully established in vitro using mercuric chloride in a concentration of 0.15% as a sterilization solution. Anderson&rsquo;s rhododendron medium (AN), half-strength Murashige and Skoog medium (half-MS) and McCown woody plant medium (WPM) containing the cytokinin zeatin in concentrations 0.5, 1 or 2&nbsp;mg/l were tested. Generally, the highest multiplication rate (2.7) was obtained for cv. Howes on AN medium with the concentration 1 mg/l of zeatin. The effects of indole-3-butyric acid (IBA), indole-3-acetic acid (IAA) and naphtalen acetic acid (NAA) on root induction were tested in WPM medium. The percentage of rooting was 100% for NAA, 86% for IBA and 81% for IAA. From the tested variants, auxin NAA also promoted the highest development of good quality roots (more than 5) per shoot without callus formation.

Abstract:
One of the main objectives of the establishment of a conservation area is to preserve the ecosystem and biodiversity. Even in many countries around the world, including Indonesia, the establishment of conservation areas has become the government's alternative strategy for protecting and maintaining biodiversity resources. The government allocates budget for conservation areas, but in some locations degradation and deforestation still persist. It is therefore important to evaluate the commitment of the government to the protection of biodiversity, one of which is the rate of deforestation. This study aims to examine whether government spending has impact to control deforestation in conservation areas in Indonesia. Utilizing a dynamic panel model with a Generalized Method of Moment (GMM) estimation, this study uses the forest cover data in 43 national parks that lies in 114 districts/cities during 2013-2017. The results show that the government spending for forest protection activities and forest ranger has an effect on controlling the deforestation rate in conservation area. However, there is no evidence showing correlation between the spending for community empowerment to deforestation control. This indicates that the government should consider budget allocation to make deforestation control more effective.

Abstract:
Background: The blood-flows in the inferior mesenteric artery (IMA) and internal iliac arteries (IIAs) among patients operated on for abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) need to be characterized. Patients and methods: The blood-flows in the IMA and IIAs were measured with transit-time flowmeter in 26 consecutive patients who underwent open surgery for AAA. The blood-flow of the superior mesenteric artery was not studied. Results: The IMA could be measured in 25 patients, was occluded at its origin from the aorta in ten, one of whom had a collateral blood-flow of 31 ml/min distal to the occlusion. In 16 with a measurable IMA blood-flow, the median blood-flow was 26 ml/min (range 14–57 ml/min). In all 25 patients the median blood-flow in the IMA was 18 ml/min. The IIAs were occluded bilaterally in two patients and unilaterally in five. The median blood-flow in the right IIA was 111 ml/min (0–268), in the left 94 ml/min (0–340). The median blood-flow in the three studied arteries was 256 ml/min (0–506). The median proportion of the blood-flow originating from the IMA, compared to the blood-flow of all three arteries, was 10% (0–100%). One patient with no flow in any of three arteries developed colonic ischaemia. Conclusions: The relative blood-flow of the IMA, in relation to that of the IIAs, is small in most patients. In patients with IIA aneurysms or simultaneous occlusive disease, blood-flow measurements may be valuable for clinical decision-making.

Abstract:
We studied a collection of microdiamonds from the Zeleny Yar Neogene placer on the Ros’-Tikych megablock of the Ukrainian Shield, which consists of 102 microdiamonds, with crystal sizes 0.2-0.5 mm, using crystal morphology, photoluminescence, infrared and Raman spectroscopy, isotopic composition of carbon and helium of microdiamonds. Crystal forms are dominantly octahedra, others are cubes, combinational crystals {111}+{110}+{100}, cube-octahedra, and transitional forms {111}+{110}; rhombic dodecahedrons are rare. Many microdiamonds are damaged crystals and their fragments. Up to 20% of the studied microdiamonds are yellow, green, pink-purple, brown, gray, and black. The most colored crystals are among the cubes. Up to 70% of the studied microdiamonds are blue, green, yellow and orange in ultraviolet light. Many of the microdiamonds, especially cubes and crystals of the combinational form {111}+{110}+{100}, have an orange photoluminescence (center at 575 nm). 50% of the crystals are nitrogen-free crystals of type IIa. Nitrogen crystals of type Ia amount to 45% (among them 29 % of subtype IaA, 11% of subtype IaAB and 5% of subtype Iab) and 5% of type Ib. The content of nitrogen ranges from 57 to 612 at. ppm with an average nitrogen content of 224 at. ppm. The centers B2 (lines 1358-1380 cm–1) and hydrogen centers (3107 cm–1, 1405 cm–1) were recorded in IR spectra of some microdiamonds. The Raman line ranges from 1331.25 cm–1 to 1331.75 cm–1 with FWHM from 2.04 cm–1 to 4.47 cm–1. The carbon isotopic composition of microdiamonds shows a very wide range from –26.74 to –3.55‰ δ13C PDB. The content of helium isotopes for the studied crystal is 73.42 × 10–12 cm3/g of 3He and 0.265 × 10–6 cm3/g of 4He. Given the wide range of values of the isotopic composition of carbon δ13C, relatively high nitrogen content and cubic form of many crystals, it is possible to predict the eclogite association as the mantle crystallization medium of the Zeleny Yar microdiamonds. The location of the parent rocks of the microdiamonds is assumed to be the Berdychiv uplift of the Podolia block of the Ukrainian Shield.

Abstract:
The aim of the study was to determine the frequency of occurrence and to assess the significance of markers of pneumocystosis in frequently ill children (FIC) during inpatient treatment and during rehabilitation in a sanatorium. Materials and methods of research: 115 children with recurrent respiratory diseases were observed: 52 were treated in a hospital and 63 underwent rehabilitation in a sanatorium. Biological samples (oropharyngeal swabs, saliva, feces and blood serum) were examined for pneumocystosis. Laboratory techniques used: a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) to detect DNA pathogens, an indirect immunofluorescence reaction (NRIF) – antigens, and immunoforment analysis (IFA) – specific antibodies of immunoglobulins (Ig) of classes M (IgM) and G (IgG). The material for laboratory research was smears from the posterior pharyngeal wall (PCR, NRIF) and blood serum (IFA). Microbiological studies included seeding, isolation of cultures with quantitative counting of colony-forming units in samples of oropharyngeal swabs, feces. Determination of the functional activity of the oropharynx microbiocenosis by the concentration of short-chain fatty acids in saliva by means of GLC method. Phagocytic activity of blood neutrophils was also investigated. Results: in hospital patients, markers for pneumocystis were found in 60% of cases, including the active form (40%) and pneumocystis (13%); in the sanatorium – 33% of cases, with active infection (26%) and detection of pneumocystis (17%). Inpatients were diagnosed with clinical variants of pneumocystis infection: pneumonia, obstructive bronchitis, acute respiratory infections; schoolchildren have been diagnosed with active pneumocystis infection and carriage. Dysbiotic disorders of the loci of the oropharynx and intestines were identified in all examined subjects, inhibition of the phagocytic activity of blood neutrophils and shifts in the concentration of short-chain fatty acids have been observed. Conclusion: a high proportion of active pneumocystis infection (40% and 27% of cases) was revealed in FIC treated in the hospital and in the sanatorium, which represents a risk group for infection/reinfection with pneumocystosis in the premises.

Full text
Abstract:
Aurihydrargyrumite, a natural Au6Hg5 phase, was found in Iyoki, Uchiko, Ehime Prefecture, Shikoku Island, Japan. Aurihydrargyrumite with a metallic silver luster occurs as a submicron- to 2 μm-thick layer on the outermost surface of the placer gold. A prismatic face may be formed by {001} and {100} or {110}. The streak is also silver white and its Mohs hardness value is ca. 2.5. Its tenacity is ductile and malleable, and its density, as calculated based on the empirical formula and powder unit-cell data, is 16.86 g·cm−3. The empirical formula of aurihydrargyrumite, on the basis of 11 Au + Hg, is Au5.95Hg5.05. Aurihydrargyrumite is hexagonal, P63/mcm, with the lattice parameters a = 6.9960(10) Å, c = 10.154(2) Å and V = 430.40(15) Å3, which is identical with the synthetic Au6Hg5 phase. The seven strongest lines in the powder X-ray diffraction (XRD) pattern [d in Å(I/I0)(hkl)] were 2.877(29)(112), 2.434(42)(113), 2.337(100)(104), 2.234(87)(211), 1.401(39)(314), 1.301(41)(404), and 1.225(65)(217). Aurihydrargyrumite forms through the weathering of mercury-bearing placer gold by involvement of self-electrorefining. This new mineral has been approved by the IMA-CNMNC (2017-003) and it is named for its composition, being a natural amalgam of gold (Latin: aurum) and mercury (Latin: hydrargyrum).

Abstract:
1. Horizontal cells of the cat retina were isolated by enzymatic dissociation. Two types of horizontal cells were identified: the axonless (A-type) horizontal cell having four to six thick, long (approximately 100 microns) dendrites, and the short-axon (B-type) horizontal cell having many (> 5) fine, short (approximately 30 microns) dendrites. 2. Membrane properties of isolated horizontal cells were analyzed under current-clamp and voltage-clamp conditions. In the A-type cell, the average resting potential was -55 mV and the mean membrane capacitance was 110 pF, whereas values in the B-type cell were -58 mV and 40 pF, respectively. The A-type cell showed long-lasting Ca spikes, but B-type cells had no Ca spikes. 3. Five types of voltage-dependent ionic currents were recorded: a sodium current (INa), a calcium current (ICa), and three types of potassium currents. Potassium currents consisted of potassium current through the inward rectifier (Ianomal), transient outward potassium current (IA), and potassium current through the delayed rectifier (IK(v)). INa was recorded only from A-type cells. Other currents were recorded from both types of cells. 4. INa activated when cells were depolarized from a holding potential (Vh) of -95 mV, and it was maximal at -25 mV. This current was blocked by tetrodotoxin. Approximately half of the A-type cells had INa, but no B-type cell had this current. 5. L-type ICa, an inward-going sustained current, was activated with depolarization more positive than -25 mV. Current amplitude reached a maximal value near 15 mV and became smaller with further depolarization.(ABSTRACT TRUNCATED AT 250 WORDS)

Abstract:

Abstract:
ABSTRACTThe effects of crystal orientation and doping on the surface energy, γT, of native oxides of Si(100) and Si(111) are measured via Three Liquid Contact Angle Analysis (3LCAA) to extract γT, while Ion Beam Analysis (IBA) is used to detect Oxygen. During 3LCAA, contact angles for three liquids are measured with photographs via the “Drop and Reflection Operative Program (DROP™). DROP™ removes subjectivity in image analysis, and yields reproducible contact angles within < ±1°. Unlike to the Sessile Drop Method, DROP can yield relative errors < 3% on sets of 20-30 drops. Native oxides on 5 x 1013 B/cm3 p- doped Si(100) wafers, as received in sealed, 25 wafer teflon boats continuously stored in Class 100/ISO 5 conditions at 24.5°C in 25% controlled humidity, are found to be hydrophilic. Their γT, 52.5 ± 1.5 mJ/m2, is reproducible between four boats from three sources, and 9% greater than γT of native oxides on n- doped Si(111), which averages 48.1 ± 1.6 mJ/m2 on four 4” Si(111) wafers. IBA combining 16O nuclear resonance with channeling detects 30% more oxygen on native oxides of Si(111) than Si(100). While γT should increase on thinner, more defective oxides, Lifshitz-Van der Waals interactions γLW on native oxides of Si(100) remain at 36 ± 0.4 mJ/m2, equal to γLW on Si(111), 36 ± 0.6 mJ/m2, since γLW arises from the same SiO2 molecules. Native oxides on 4.5 x 1018 B/cm3 p+ doped Si(100) yield a γT of 39 ± 1 mJ/m2, as they are thicker per IBA. In summary, 3LCAA and IBA can detect reproducibly and accurately, within a few %, changes in the surface energy of native oxides due to thickness and surface composition arising from doping or crystal structure, if conducted in well controlled clean room conditions for measurements and storage.

Methods Patients (n = 114) who underwent isolated coronary artery bypass grafting at least 1 year (1.4 ± 0.4 years) previously were subjected to both 16-slice CT angiography with cardiac gating and ICA, and their results were evaluated and compared. All patients were receiving β-blockers; mean heart rate was 64 ± 6 beats/min. Results The mean age of the patients was 59.7 ± 8.5 years. There was a total of 338 grafts (113 internal mammary artery grafts, 8 radial artery grafts, and 217 saphenous venous grafts). On MSCT angiography, all the left internal mammary arteries were visualized with 3D reconstruction. All internal mammary arteries were found to be patent. Twenty-one grafts were occluded or stenosed (21/338, 6.25%). One occluded graft was on the anterior wall (1/20, 0.83%), 11 occluded grafts were on the lateral wall of the heart (11/128, 8.59%), and 9 occluded grafts were on the inferior wall of the heart (9/90, 10.0%); MSCT resulted in no false-positive diagnosis of stenosis (specificity, 100%). However, 2 grafts that were found to be patent on MSCT angiography were blocked on ICA (MSCT sensitivity, 96.3%). Conclusions Postoperative assessment of coronary bypass grafts is possible with an excellent resolution by MSCT angiography. Patency of bypass grafts can be checked by MSCT angiography, and the assessment is comparable with ICA.

Abstract:
ABSTRACTAnalysis of the total surface energy γTand its three components as established by the van Oss-Chaudhury-Good Theory (vOCG) is conducted via Three Liquid Contact Angle Analysis (3LCAA). γTis correlated with the composition of the top monolayers (ML) obtained from High-Resolution Ion Beam Analysis (HR-IBA). Control of γTenables surface engineering for wafer bonding (Nano-BondingTM) and/or epitaxial growth. Native oxides on boron-doped p-Si(100) are found to average γTof 53 ± 1.4 mJ/m2) and are always hydrophilic. An HF in methanol or aqueous HF etch for 60 s always renders Si(100) hydrophobic. Its γTdecreases by 20% to 44 ± 3 mJ/m2in HF in methanol etch and by 10% to 48 ± 3 mJ/m2in aqueous HF. On the contrary, GaAs(100) native oxides are found to always be hydrophobic. Tellurium n+-doped GaAs(100) yields an average of γTof 37 ± 2 mJ/m2, 96% of which is due to the Lifshitz-Van der Waals molecular interactions (γLW= 36 ± 1 mJ/m2). However, hydrophobic GaAs(100) can be made highly hydrophilic. After etching, γTincreases by almost 50% to 66 ± 1.4 mJ/m2. 3LCAA shows that the γTincrease is due to electron acceptor and donor interactions, while the Lifshitz-van der Waals energy γLWremains constant. IBA combining the 3.039 ± 0.01 MeV oxygen nuclear resonance with <111> channeling, shows that oxygen on Si(100) decreases by 10% after aqueous HF etching, from 13.3 ± 0.3 monolayers (ML) to 11.8 ± 0.4 ML 1 hour after etch.Te-doped GaAs(100) exhibits consistent oxygen coverage of 7.2 ± 1.4 ML, decreasing by 50% after etching to a highly hydrophilic surface with 3.6 ± 0.2 oxygen ML. IBA shows that etching does not modify the GaAs surface stoichiometry to within 1% . Combining 3LCAA with HR-IBA provides a quantitative metrology to measure how GaAs and Si surfaces can be altered to a different hydroaffinity and surface termination.

Abstract:
<p>Characterization and Selection of Azotobacter sp. in Enhancing Seed Germination and Growth of Plant. Nitrogen (N) is a macro nutrient needed by the plant. Chemical synthesis of N fertilizer need high energy input. On the other hand, Azotobacter sp. has been known as a free living nitrogen fixing bacteria. This bacteria is also known as growth factor producing bacteria such as indole acetic acid (IAA) and extracellular polysaccharide. The ability of Azotobacter sp. in fixing N and producing IAA was affected by strain type of the bacteria as well as the origin of the isolate. It had been characterized 44 isolates of Azotobacter sp. isolated from selected dry habitat such as oil palm in Sekayu (South Sumatera), coffee and cashew nut tree in NTT, corn crops in Banjar (South of Kalimantan), and rubber tree in Bogor (West Java). Isolation was conducted using Ashby media. Based on their ability in producing IAA, promoting germination of the seed and growth of leguminous cover crops Pueraria phaseoloides. The result showed that isolate of 116(2), from Sikka, Flores, (NTT), produced highest IAA i.e 2.815 &amp;#956;M within the third day and 4.02 uM in the sixth day incubation time. Strain D1/8B (isolated from oil palm plantation in South Sumatera) and S5 (isolated from corn in South Kalimantan) could increase 2-3 times number of germinating seed of P. phaseoloides for the third days. Azotobacter sp. isolate of D1/2, 107, and 113 in combination with 50% recomended doses of chemical fertilizer could enhance the growth of plant (fresh and dry biomassa total) of sorghum higher compared to 100% chemical fertilizer doses (control). Isolate of D1/2 originated from South of Sumatera improved germination of seed, and enhanced the growth of sorghum, while isolate of 113 from Sikka, Flores, NTT had the ability to increase the growth of sorghum during one month in glass house experiment.</p><p> </p><p><strong>Abstrak</strong></p><p>Nitrogen (N) merupakan unsur makro yang diperlukan oleh tanaman. Isolat D1/2 asal Sumsel meningkatkan perkecambahan benih dan pertumbuhan sorgum relatif tinggi, sedang isolat 113 asal Sikka, Flores, NTT, mampu meningkatkan pertumbuhan tanaman sorgum.</p><p> </p>

Abstract:
AbstractSieleckiite is a new copper aluminium phosphate discovered at the Mt Oxide Copper Mine, 150 km north of Mt Isa, Queensland, Australia. It occurs with variscite, turquoise, libethenite and minor pseudomalachite in a fracture in a boulder of quartzite and shale. Sieleckiite forms deep sky blue to royal blue spheres up to 0.5 mm in diameter, made up of fibrous radiating crystals between 20 and 100 µm long and 1 to 2 µm wide. The mineral has a very pale blue streak and a pearly lustre on uneven fracture surfaces. Hardness is about 3 and the measured density is 3.02 g cm−3. The average of nine electron microprobe analyses gave CuO 32.39, Al2O3 26.57, P2O5 19.42%. Separate analyses gave H2O 18.1, CO2 1.6% (carbonate impurity). These data gave an empirical formula of Cu3.1Al4.0(PO4)2.1(OH)12.1.7H2O, calculated on the basis of 22 oxygen atoms. The simplified formula is Cu3Al4.0(PO4)2.1(OH)12.2H2O. The strongest lines in the X-ray powder diffraction pattern are {d(I)(hkl)}; 9.12(50)(100), 5.06(100)(101), 3.852(100)(111), 3.276(30)(2¯20), 2.827(50)(1¯02,102), 2.460(50)(3¯21). These data were indexed on a triclinic cell with a 9.41(8), b 7.56(5), c 5.95(6) Å, α 90.25(12)° β 91.27(12)° γ 104.02(7)° and a volume of 410.8(5) Å3. For Z = 1, the calculated density is 2.94 g cm−3. Optical properties could not be determined in full; the refractive indices are between 1.63 and 1.66, pleochroism is very weak from colourless to very pale blue. The mineral is named for the discoverer, Robert Sielecki (1958- ). Type specimens are preserved at the Museum of Victoria and the South Australian Museum. Sieleckiite was approved by the IMA Commission on New Minerals and Mineral Names prior to publication.

Abstract:
Currently, there is evidence that hepcidin is the main regulator of iron metabolism in human and pathogenesis key factor for anemia of inflammation. However, the role of hepcidin in multifactorial pathogenesis of anemia in pregnancy is not clear. We presented the results of the laboratory examinations of 78 pregnant women sera in hepcidin, ferritin, erythropoietin during pregnancy, and 116 sera of pregnant women with iron deficiency anemia (IDA) and anemia of mixed origin. The obtained data indicate a statistically significant decrease in the mean hepcidin concentration in pregnants versus non pregnant women. Mean hepcidin level in pregnant women with IDA was decreased, compared with anemia of mixed origin pregnants (p<0.0001). Evaluation of hepcidin concentrations may be useful laboratory test for differential diagnostic of anemia during pregnancy and for determination of optimal therapeutic option between oral iron, parenteral iron or using erythropoiesis -stimulating agents (ESAs) in combination with iron products.

Abstract:
Human monocytic ehrlichiosis is an emerging infectious disease caused by Ehrlichia chaffeensis, a gram-negative obligatory intracellular bacterium closely related to E. canis. The immunoreactive recombinant fusion proteins rP28 and rP30 have become available after cloning and expressing of the 28- and 30-kDa major outer membrane protein genes of E. chaffeensis and E. canis, respectively. Western immunoblotting was performed to analyze the antibody responses of the 37 E. chaffeensisindirect fluorescent-antibody assay (IFA)-positive and 20 IFA-negative serum specimens with purified whole organisms, rP28, and rP30. All IFA-negative sera were negative with purified whole organisms, rP28, or rP30 by Western immunoblot analysis (100% relative diagnostic specificity). Of 37 IFA-positive sera, 34 sera reacted with any native proteins of E. chaffeensis ranging from 44 to 110 kDa, and 30 sera reacted with 44- to 110-kDa native E. canisantigens. The 28-kDa E. chaffeensis and 30-kDa E. canis native proteins were recognized by 25 IFA-positive sera. Fifteen IFA-positive sera reacted with rP28 by Western blot analysis, whereas 34 IFA-positive sera reacted with rP30 (92% relative diagnostic specificity), indicating that rP30 is more sensitive than rP28 for detecting the antibodies in IFA-positive sera. These 34 IFA-positive sera were positive by the dot blot assay with rP30, distinguishing them from IFA-negative sera. Except for three rP30-negative but IFA-positive specimens that instead showed anE. ewingii infection-like profile by Western immunoblotting, the results of Western and dot blot assays with rP30 matched 100% with the IFA test results. Densitometric analysis of dot blot reactions showed a positive correlation between the dot density and the IFA titer. These results suggest that rP30 antigen would provide a simple, consistent, and rapid serodiagnosis for human monocytic ehrlichiosis.

Abstract:
In vitro propagation system has been developed for an important ornamental and medicinal plant, Muscari armeniacum Leichtil. ex Bak. A range of a cytokinin and auxin concentration has been investigated for axillary bulblet proliferation, and direct and indirect adventitious bulblet regeneration from the explants whole bulb, one fourth part of bulb, bulb-scale of ex vitro (field grown mature bulb), and only leaf-sheath explants of in vitro grown bulblet. Axillary bulblet regeneration occurred on MS containing 2.0 - 8.0 ?M BAP or Kn. Direct adventitious bulblets were induced successfully on MS basal medium supplemented with various concentrations of BAP or Kn (1.0 - 4.0 ?M) in combi-nation of either NAA, IBA, or 2,4-D (0.5 - 4.0 ?M). The maximum frequency of adventitious bulblets regeneration occurred from both bulb-scale and leaf-sheath explants on MS with 4.0 ?M BAP and 2.0 ?M NAA, IBA, or 2,4-D. The highest frequency (95.5%) of indirect adventitious bulblets was obtained from in vitro grown leaf-sheathderived callus on MS containing 4.0 ?M BAP with 1.0 ?M 2,4-D whereas, highest number (80.2) and average length (55.5 cm) of bulblets were obtained on MS supplemented with 4.0 ?M BAP and 1.0 ?M NAA. In vitro grown bullets was rooted successfully on MS with 0.5 - 4.0 ?M of IBA, NAA, or IAA. The rooted bulblets were transferred to garden soil and successfully established under ex vitro environment. Abstract:
<p>The results of surgical intervention on a patient with stent restenosis at the mouth of the common carotid artery (CCA) and proximal internal carotid artery (ICA) are presented herein. In 2013, the patient underwent stenting of the CCA and ICA. One month later, the aortic valve was replaced with a mechanical prosthesis MedEng-23 (MedEng, Penza, Russia) and mammarocoronary anastomosis with an envelope artery was performed under extracorporeal circulation. After the intervention, the patient regularly received 3.75 mg of warfarin, and was under the observation of a cardiologist. In 2018, the patient suffered a transient ischaemic attack. Subsequent examination of the patient revealed sub-occlusion of the left subclavian artery and signs of vertebral–subclavian steal syndrome on the left, and confirmed patency of the mammarocoronary shunt in envelope artery. The patient underwent carotid–subclavian shunting using the BASEX (A.N. Bakulev National Medical Research Center of Cardiovascular Surgery, Moscow, Russia) (8-mm prosthesis. Nine months after the patient underwent carotid–subclavian shunting, 85% restenosis was observed in the stent of the left ICA using control multi-spiral computed tomography with angiography (MSCT AG). The patient also exhibited up to 94% restenosis of the stent of the left ICA, occlusion of the right ICA, and up to 81% stenosis of the proximal anastomosis of the carotid–subclavian shunt. The patient underwent surgery for the removal of the following: the stent from the ICA with endarterectomy from the CCA, ICA with arterial plastic patches from the xenopericardium and prosthesis on the left (8-mm Vascutek prosthesis, Vascutek Ltd., UK). The brain was protected by raising the patient’s systemic blood pressure to 180/90 mm Hg. During the postoperative period, MSCT AG was performed to image the ICA. The MSCT AG images indicated that the prosthesis was passable. Presently, no clear standards exist for achieving revascularisation in this category of patients. The present clinical case emphasised the requirement for the detailed observation of patients after reconstructive interventions in different arteries as well as the possibility of surgically correcting the revealed lesions.</p><p>Received 13 August 2019. Placental prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) is thought to influence the ovine fetal adrenocortical system to control the timing of parturition. We investigated whether physiological infusions of PGE2 increase fetal immunoreactive adrenocorticotropin (iACTH) at the fetal brain or pituitary or at a site not perfused by the carotid vasculature. PGE2 was infused into the carotid artery (ica) at 0 (n = 5), 10 (n = 5), or 100 ng/min (n = 4) or into the vena cava (ivc) at 10 (n = 5) or 100 ng/min (n = 5) for 30 min in fetuses between 119 and 130 days gestation. Blood gases, vasopressin, cortisol, and arterial and central venous pressure were unchanged. Heart rate increased only in the 100 ng/min ica group. iACTH increased only in the 100 ng/min ivc group from 59 +/- 26 to 180 +/- 73 pg/ml. We conclude that PGE2 infused to create physiological plasma concentrations similar to those at the end of gestation stimulates iACTH from a site other than the fetal brain or pituitary.

Abstract:
We sought to make the first comparisons of duplex Doppler ultrasonography-derived measures of cerebral blood flow during exercise in young and older individuals and to assess whether healthy aging influences the effect of exercise on neurovascular coupling (NVC) and cerebral vascular reactivity to changes in carbon dioxide (CVRco2). In 10 healthy young (23 ± 2 yr; mean ± SD) and 9 healthy older (66 ± 3 yr) individuals, internal carotid artery (ICA) and vertebral artery (VA) blood flows were concurrently measured, along with middle and posterior cerebral artery mean blood velocity (MCAvmean and PCAvmean). Measures were made at rest and during leg cycling (75 W and 35% maximum aerobic workload). ICA and VA blood flow during dynamic exercise, undertaken at matched absolute (ICA: young 336 ± 95, older 352 ± 155; VA: young 95 ± 43, older 100 ± 30 ml/min) and relative (ICA: young 355 ± 125, older 323 ± 153; VA: young 115 ± 48, older 110 ± 32 ml/min) intensities, were not different between groups ( P > 0.670). The PCAvmean responses to visual stimulation (NVC) were blunted in older versus younger group at rest (16 ± 6% vs. 23 ± 7%, P < 0.026) and exercise; however, these responses were not changed from rest to exercise in either group. The ICA and VA CVRco2 were comparable in both groups and unaltered during exercise. Collectively, our findings suggest that 1) ICA and VA blood flow responses to dynamic exercise are similar in healthy young and older individuals, 2) NVC is blunted in healthy older individuals at rest and exercise but is not different between rest to exercise in either group, and 3) CVRco2 is similar during exercise in healthy young and older groups. NEW & NOTEWORTHY Internal carotid artery and vertebral artery blood flow responses to dynamic exercise are similar in healthy young and older individuals. Neurovascular coupling and cerebrovascular carbon dioxide reactivity, two key mechanisms mediating the cerebral blood flow responses to exercise, are generally unaffected by exercise in both healthy young and older individuals.

Abstract:
The article aims to describe a lesson that represents one of the stages of studying the melodic-intonation structure of poems by I.A. Brodsky in high school. The creation of this method is due to the need to develop an integral concept of school study of poetry, the individual features of which are largely determined by the special sound of the lyricism of the poet’s philosophy-centered creativity. The concept is based on the structural and interdisciplinary approaches to the poetry evaluation, as well as on the works of scholars and teachers who have systematized the experience of studying lyric poetry by schoolchildren, including the sound side of the poetic speech. The analysis of the works of researchers who study the phenomena of melody and intonation of the poetic speech, has aimed at the need to form a multidimensional understanding of I.A. Brodsky’s lyric poetry by schoolchildren. The concept has been developed on the basis of the theoretical, socio-pedagogical and experimental research methods, which allowed to conduct diagnosing, training and control experiments, which revealed an increase in the level of students’ interpretative competence. The step-by-step study of I.A. Brodsky’s poetry in the 11th grade involves schoolchildren’s moving from the intuitive perception of the author’s style to mastering the skills of independent intonation interpretation of the poet’s works, which are based on the ability to isolate the elements from the text of the poem that create its intonation and determine their semantic function. The described lesson implements the second part of the stage of the intuitive perception of I.A. Brodsky’s poetry when the transition is made from an elemental acquaintance with the sound of the poet’s work to clarifying the features of the sound of a particular poem and forming students’ deeper awareness of the correlation between the intonation and ideological interpretations of the poetic work.

17123 Background: Precise recognition of N1–2 lymph node metastases (RLN) of non-small cell lung cancer (LC) means great importance in prediction LC patients (LCP) survival after surgery. We examined the immunologic factors associated with LCP with N0 and N1–2. Methods: In trial (1987–2005) the data of consecutive 289 LCP after complete pneumonectomies/lobectomies and mediastinal lymph node dissection (age = 58.1 ± 0.5 years; tumor size = 4.4 ± 0.1 cm; m = 260, f = 29) with pathologic stage I-III (T1–4N0–2M0) (squamous = 169, adenocarcinoma = 102, large cell = 18; G1 = 67, G2 = 110, G3 = 112; T1 = 100, T2 = 114, T3 = 54, T4 = 21; N0 = 147, N1 = 70, N2 = 72; pneumonectomies = 135, bi/lobectomies = 154) was reviewed. Variables selected for ED study were input levels of 64 immunity blood parameters, sex, age. Representativeness of samplings was reached by means of randomisation based on unrepeated random selection. Logistic regression, clustering, discriminant analysis, neural networks computing, structural equation modeling, Monte Carlo and bootstrap simulation were used to determine any significant regularity. Results: Logistic regression modeling displayed that RLN of LC significantly depended on: CDw26, CD16, phagocytic number, ratio of lymphocytes, T-lymphocytes, CD4+2H to LC cells (P = 0.003–0.043). Neural networks computing, genetic algorithm selection and bootstrap simulation revealed relationships between N1–2 and blood IgM (rank = 1), eosinophils (2), T-lymphocytes (3), CD8 (4), phagocytic number (5), CD8+VV (6), CDw26 (7), B-lymphocytes (8), IS2 (9), CD4 (10), CD4+2H (11), NST-A2 (12), monocytes (13), index of thymus function (14), IgA (15). Conclusions: Correct RLN of LC was 79.2% by logistic regression (odds ratio = 15.65), 82.0% by discriminant analysis and 99.6% by neural networks computing (area under ROC curve = 0.99; error = 0.059). Abstract:
The purpose of the present study was to evaluate the pattern of change in muscular glycogen content in response to high-frequency electrical stimulation (HFES). Muscle biopsies were taken from the vastus lateralis muscle of 7 healthy young men before, 15 min after, and 30 min after electrical stimulation delivered at a 50-Hz frequency (15 s on, 45 s off) at an intensity of 100 mA. The glycogen content of type I, IIA, and IIB muscle fibres was evaluated using microphotometry of periodic acid Schiff (PAS) stained fibres. After 15 min of electrical stimulation, the glycogen content in type I, IIA, and IIB muscle fibres significantly decreased from 113 ± 10 (mean ± SE) to 103 ± 10 (p ≤ 0.05), 129 ± 9 to 102 ± 12 (p ≤ 0.01), and 118 ± 8 to 90 ± 13 (p ≤ 0.01) arbitrary relative units, respectively. No further decrement in glycogen content was observed in all three fibre types following an additional 15 min of HFES. In addition, isometric force decreased by approximately 50%, from 125.9 ± 20.0 N to 64.2 ± 7.7 N (p ≤ 0.01), during the first 15 contractions. No further decrease in isometric force was observed following an additional 15 contractions of HFES. These results reveal that significant reductions in isometric force of knee extensor muscles and glycogen content of all human skeletal muscle fibre types in vastus lateralis muscle are observable after 15 min of neuromuscular high-frequency transcutaneous electrical stimulation. Key words: energy metabolism, isometric strength

Abstract:
Abstract Stock plants of Anemone x hybrida Paxton ‘Honorine Jobert’ and ‘Richard Ahrens’ were grown in 3.8 liter (#1) containers for 30 weeks beginning in April, and fertilized daily with a complete nutrient solution providing 10, 40, 80 or 150 mg/liter (ppm) nitrogen (N), in a constant ratio of 1 ammonium: 2 nitrate. At the end of 30 weeks (November), 4-cm-long root cuttings were harvested from the stock plants and treated with the potassium salt of indolebutyric acid (K-IBA) at 0, 100, 500 or 1000 mg/liter (ppm), then placed in cell packs containing a pine bark-based substrate, one cutting per cell. The containers were arranged under intermittent mist in a heated greenhouse. Overall, 91% of the cuttings regenerated a complete plant. There were cultivar differences in regeneration, and the highest K-IBA concentration was inhibitory to ‘Honorine Jobert’. Nitrogen nutrition of the stock plants, K-IBA treatment of the root cuttings, and fresh weight of the root cuttings, had no significant effect on percent regeneration. Time to shoot emergence was reduced by higher rates of N applied to the stock plants, and increased at the highest concentration of K-IBA in ‘Honorine Jobert’, but not in ‘Richard Ahrens’. Dry weights of the regenerated plants increased with increasing weight of the cuttings from which they originated. They were related linearly to rate of N applied to the stock plants in ‘Honorine Jobert’, and quadratically in ‘Richard Ahrens’, with maximum plantlet weight predicted at 114 mg/liter (ppm) N. At the observed optimal rate of N applied to the stock plants, dry weights of the regenerated plants increased with increasing K-IBA concentration, in a quadratic manner. Maximum plantlet weight is predicted at 459 mg/liter (ppm) K-IBA in ‘Honorine Jobert’, and at 425 mg/liter (ppm) in ‘Richard Ahrens’.

Background:Objectives:To evaluate the role of serum IgA level as a biomarker in adult IgA vasculitis (IgAV).Methods:This prospective study included large cohort of histologically proven adult IgAV cases diagnosed between January 2013 and December 2019 at our secondary/tertiary rheumatology centre. All patients underwent a detailed clinical evaluation and laboratory workup. Patients were then stratified based on baseline serum IgA level into two groups (elevated serum IgA vs. normal serum IgA), and clinical features were compared between the two groups. Next we used multivariable logistic regression analysis to determine factors predicting gastrointestinal (GI) or renal involvement in adult IgAV.Results:During the 84-month observation period, we identified 227 incipient adult IgAV cases (60.6% males, median (interquartile range) age 64 (47–76) years, 44 (19.4%) current smokers). One hundred and eleven (48.9%) patients had elevated serum IgA level at baseline, the rest had normal IgA level. None of the patients had subnormal serum IgA level. Skin involvement, constitutional symptoms, arthritis, GI tract and renal involvement developed in 227 (100%), 32 (14.1%), 30 (13.2%), 62 (27.3%), and 93 (41.0%) patients, respectively. Patients with elevated serum IgA less frequently developed constitutional symptoms (p=0.036) and GI tract involvement (p=0.017), but had more commonly renal involvement (p <0.001), compared to those with normal serum IgA. Results of univariate analysis are shown in Table 1. In the multivariable logistic regression model, elevated serum IgA level persisted as a factor associated with lower risk of GI tract involvement (OR 0.47 (95%CI 0.23–0.95), and a higher risk of renal involvement (OR 2.71 (95%CI 1.48–4.96). Abstract:
Abstract We describe an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay for determination of light-chain ratios for IgG, IgA, and IgM in serum. A commercial serum with known overall kappa and lambda concentrations was used as standard. To capture the respective immunoglobulins, we used antibodies to gamma, lambda and mu chains coated onto microtiter plates. Peroxidase-conjugated anti-kappa and anti-lambda chain antisera were reacted with light chains on the captured immunoglobulins, and the amount of enzyme bound was monitored with o-phenylenediamine and urea-hydrogen peroxide as substrates. Calculation of absorbance ratios allowed determination of kappa and lambda chain concentrations of individual immunoglobulins in the standard and samples. Within-run and between-run CVs (n = 25) ranged from 5.9% to 13.0% for "high," "normal," and "low" kappa/lambda ratios for IgG, IgA, and IgM. The thoroughness of light-chain detection, expressed as, e.g., (IgA kappa + IgA lambda)/(total IgA), for 150 sera was 91-110%. The detection limit was 1 microgram/L. Reference intervals (mean +/- SD) for kappa/lambda ratios in sera from 100 apparently healthy adults were 2.34 +/- 0.80 for IgG, 1.59 +/- 0.40 for IgA, and 1.86 +/- 0.76 for IgM.

Abstract:
Skin and soft tissue infections (SSTIs) occur at higher rates among HIV-infected persons, but current trends and risk factors are largely undefined. We evaluated SSTIs among a prospective cohort of HIV-infected persons during the late combination antiretroviral therapy (cART) era (2006–2010). Of the 1918 HIV-infected persons evaluated, 379 (20%) developed an SSTI during a median of 3.7 years of follow-up; of these, 118 (31 %) developed at least one recurrent SSTI. The incidence rate of SSTIs was 101 (95% confidence interval [CI] 93–109) cases per 1000 person-years, and rates did not significantly change during the study period. Compared with not receiving cART and having an HIV RNA level >1000 copies/mL, patients receiving cART with an HIV RNA level <1000 copies/mL had a reduced risk of an SSTI (hazard ratio 0.64, 95% CI 0.48–0.86, P < 0.01). In summary, initial and recurrent SSTIs are common among HIV-infected persons, and HIV control is associated with a lower risk of SSTIs.

Summary: Background: The aim of this study is to evaluate perioperative as well as long-term outcomes in patients operated with carotid endarterectomy (CEA) or stenting (CAS) due to symptomatic or asymptomatic high-grade restenosis of the internal carotid artery (ICA). Patients and methods: In a retrospective analysis of our electronic database including 2980 patients who underwent carotid endarterectomy or stenting due to a symptomatic or asymptomatic high-grade stenosis of the ICA, between 2000 and 2016, we enrolled 111 patients with recurrent ICA stenosis. Results: An ipsilateral 2nd time restenosis (> 80 % in the asymptomatic and > 50 % in the symptomatic patients according to NASCET criteria) of ICA was detected in 13 patients (12 %); 3 of them were symptomatic. These patients were managed with either CEA (n = 5/38 %) or CAS (n = 8/62 %) with no perioperative stroke or death. The stroke-free survival rates at 2 and 8 years for CEA were 98 % and 98 % versus 100 % and 100 % for CAS respectively (P = .271). The type of the initial procedure (patch, CAS or interposition) did not play any significant role for the development of a 2nd time restenosis (P = .841). Conclusions: Redo-CEA/CAS seem to have similar results as primary procedures (as reported in the literature) with favorable periprocedural and long-term outcomes.

Abstract:
Abstract Introduction.PET-CT is the new imaging modality for staging of patients with Hodgkin Lymphoma (HL) with its excellent results in prognostic role for survival rate. Despite this fact, there are still patients in different risk groups who need intensification in treatment or dose de-escalation. In recent years several studies have been activated and published data about baseline, interim (iPET) and end-of-treatment (PET3) PET-CT prognostic role. But somewhere, there are still a lot of controversies. Here we report the results of a multicenter prospective study of iPET and PET3 in HL. Methods .113 patients with the primary HL were evaluated in the study. Between 113 patients 67.2% (76) were females and 32.8% (37) - males, with median age 42.5 years (range - 18 to 67years ). Patients received standart chemotherapy protocols based on risk group - ABVD or BEACOPP-14/esc. Metabolic PET-CT imaging was performed at participating PET centers according to routine protocols. iPET and PET3 with 1-3 and 4-5 scores by Deauville were considered as astatus-negative and status-positive result, respectively. The primary endpoints of the study were evaluated predicting treatment outcome and event free survival (EFS). Results.40.7% (46/113) with early stages were treated by ABVD and 59.3% (67/113) patients with advance stages received BEACOPP-esc/14 and ABVD, respectively (p<0.05). The ORR of 96 patients (CR, PR) was 92%. The maximum follow-up period in this group of patients was 62 months (median 17 months). 98% (111/113) patientsare still followed up. 89% (89/100) and 11% (11/100) of patients had 1-3 and 4-5 scores of iPET by Deauville 5-PS scale, respectively (p < 0.05). In total, disease progression was documented in 27.2% (3/11) of iPET-positive patients and 12.3% (11/89) of iPET-negative patients (p<0.05). There was one death from refractory disease. We did not find anysignificantprognostic roleof iPETanddepends on type of regimen in patients from that group to predict the EFS. Thus, 3-year EFS of patients with iPET-positive versus iPET-negative was 57% and 85%, respectively (Log-rank test, p=0.3). 95.5% (108/113) and 4.5% (5/113) patients in our cohort had PET3- negative (PET3-) and positive (PET3+) status, respectively (p<0.05). The 2-year EFS rates were 90% and 15% for patients whose PET3 was negative and positive, respectively (Log-rank test, p<0.0001). 2-year EFS for pts PET3+ with I-IIA was higher compared in cases with IIB-IVB stages (50% vs 15%,respectively; Log-rank test, p<0.0001). But EFS ratein patients with PET3- depends on stage of disease was similar: 95 % vs 90% in patients with I-IIA vs IIB-IVB, respectively. Conclusion. While performed iPET provides valuable information about the quality of the treatment response, there is still a need for its prospective confirmation as a prognostic factor. Clinical trials are designed to improve upon the current 1st-line therapy, may be more informative, if focused on PET-positive patients after treatment. Abstract:
It was established that for in vitro rhyzogenesis of apple rootstock 106-13 it is better to use medium with 1/2 MS macro- and microsalts supplemented with IBA in concentration of 0.5 mg/l without use of etiolation (the yield of rooted microplants was 90.0 % with a coefficient of root system development – 1.14 ± 0.18). For in vitro rhyzogenesis of apple rootstock 54-118, it is better to use medium with 1/3 MS macro and microsalts, supplemented with IBA in concentration of 1.0 mg/l without etiolation (the yield of rooted microplants was 85.35 % with a coefficient of root system development – 0.53 ± 0.12). The positive effect of etiolation on root system growth depended on cultivar. For rootstock 54-118, the use of etiolation stimulated the growth of roots on medium with 1/3 MS macro- and microsalts combined with IBA in concentration of 1.0 mg/l (until the end of subculture). Use of etiolation inhibited the root system growth of rootstock 106-13 microplants until the end of subculture both on medium with 1/2 MS macro- and microsalts and on medium with 1/3 MS macro- and microsalts, but it stimulated root formation of rootstock 106-13. However, use of 7 days etiolation at stage of in vitro rhyzogenesis of rootstocks 106-13 and 54-118 is not expedient, because it does not stimulate the increase in the number of rooted microplants at the end of subculture.

Abstract:
<p><strong>Aim</strong>. To report the first clinical case of the hybrid procedure combining off-pump minimally invasive multivessel coronary artery bypass grafting (MICS-CABG) and percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) of the obtuse marginal (OM) artery to achieve complete myocardial revascularisation.</p><p><strong>Clinical case</strong>. Bilateral in situ skeletonised left internal mammary artery (IMA) grafting to the left anterior descending artery was performed, and a Y-shape anastomosis was created from the left IMA-right IMA to the circumflex branch. At 2 hours postoperatively, graft failure caused by subtotal stenosis at the graft was diagnosed. Reconstruction of the anastomosis improved the transit time flow measurement by 3.5 hours postoperatively. Acute myocardial infarction did not develop. On postoperative day 1, graft patency was assessed, and then the OM stent was placed. On postoperative day 8, the patient was discharged and referred to the outpatient centre for further treatment and rehabilitation. Hybrid revascularisation offers the advantages of both CABG and PCI; however, the technical complexity is a major limitation for its widespread use. This case reports the development of adverse events during the surgeon's training to perform this nonstandard technology. Timely diagnosis of the initial graft failure and surgical revision led to a successful and complication-free outcome and avoided prolonged patient rehabilitation.</p><p><strong>Conclusion</strong>. Hybrid revascularisation combining MICS-CABG and PCI with new-generation drug-eluting stents can be a worthwhile alternative to conventional multivessel CABG with minimal invasiveness and complete revascularisation.</p><p>Received 5 June 2020. Abstract:
Increased albuminuria is a hallmark of early diabetic nephropathy, whereas the role of immunoglobulins (Igs), such as IgG (its 1–4 subtypes), IgA, and IgM, different in charge and size, has not been examined in early nephropathy in the past due to lack of a sensitive and reliable method. Our study group consisted of subjects with type 1 diabetes (T1D) and normoalbuminuria ( n = 78), microalbuminuria ( n = 78), and of 75 healthy subjects (HS). A Luminex-based immunoassay (1,000 time more sensitive than nephelometry-based method) was validated for the urine matrix and used for the measurements of IgG1–4, IgA, and IgM in our study groups. The Luminex-based assay detected Igs in 87% of HS subjects and in 100% of T1D subjects. Recovery of known amounts of Igs added to urine was 92–118%. In the normoalbuminuria group, urinary concentrations of albumin, IgG2, IgA, and IgM were significantly higher than in HS, whereas in the microalbuminuria, further elevation of IgG2, IgG4, and IgA was the most pronounced. In all three groups, fractional excretion of Igs was at least 100 times lower than that of albumin. Fractional excretion of IgG2 was the highest among all Igs. We validated a sensitive method for measuring Igs in urine using Luminex. We found that elevated concentrations of Igs, particularly in IgG2 and IgA, is present in subjects with T1D and no proteinuria. Elevation of those particular Ig subtypes suggests a contribution of novel mechanisms in early diabetic nephropathy, different from charge and size barrier impairment.

Abstract:
ABSTRACTThérèsemagnanite was originally described from the Cap Garonne mine, Var, France. Its ideal formula was reported as (Co,Zn,Ni)6(SO4)(OH,Cl)10·8H2O; without crystal structure data, only the powder X-ray diffraction pattern was given. Revision of the holotype material revealed that thérèsemagnanite is identical to ‘cobaltogordaite’ (IMA2014-043), recently described from the Blue Lizard mine, Utah, USA. Thérèsemagnanite is thus redefined in accordance with the new data obtained for the neotype specimen from Blue Lizard (formerly the holotype specimen of ‘cobaltogordaite’) and ‘cobaltogordaite’ has been discredited by the International Mineralogical Association Commission on New Mineral Nomenclature and Classification (IMA CNMNC). Thérèsemagnanite has the ideal, end-member formula NaCo4(SO4)(OH)6Cl·6H2O. The empirical formulae of the holotype (Cap Garonne) and the neotype (Blue Lizard), both based on microprobe analyses and calculated on the basis of 17 O + Cl atoms per formula unit (with fixed 6 OH groups and 6 H2O molecules; H content is calculated by stoichiometry) are (Na0.64K0.09)Σ0.73(Co2.35Zn1.22Ni0.50)Σ4.07S1.02O3.98(OH)6Cl1.02·6H2O and Na1.01(Co1.90Zn1.37Ni0.48Cu0.15Mn0.05)Σ3.95S1.03O4.09(OH)6Cl0.91·6H2O, respectively. Thérèsemagnanite is trigonal,P$\overline 3 $,a= 8.349(3),c= 13.031(2) Å,V= 786.6(4) Å3and Z = 2 (neotype). The strongest powder X-ray diffraction lines are [dobsin Å (hkl) (Irel)]: 13.10 (001)(100), 6.53 (002)(8), 4.173 (110)(4), 3.517 (112)(5), 2.975 (104, 10$\overline 4 $)(4), 2.676 (211)(5) and 2.520 (12$\bar 2$)(5) (neotype). Thérèsemagnanite is a cobalt analogue of gordaite, NaZn4(SO4)(OH)6Cl·6H2O. These minerals represent the gordaite group, accepted by the IMA CNMNC.

Abstract:
Abstract Background An elevated incidence of invasive pulmonary aspergillosis (IPA) in patients with COVID-19 without traditional risk factors for IPA has been recently reported around the world. This co-infection has been described in patients requiring treatment in an intensive care unit. The risk factors for its development are still unclear. Methods We conducted a nested case-control study using the COVID-19 registry of the ARMII study group, based in the Centro Médico ABC, a private hospital in Mexico City. We included all patients that required admission to the intensive care unit (ICU) from March 12 to June 15, 2020, and excluded patients without serum galactomannan measurements or bronchial secretion cultures. We used the modified definition of IPA proposed by Schauwvlieghe et al for IPA in influenza patients. The control group was formed by patients with ruled-out IPA (negative galactomannan and secretion cultures). We compared both groups to identify risk factors for IPA using the chi-squared test or the Mann-Whitney U test as applicable. Results Out of a total 239 patients, 54 met the inclusion criteria. We identified 13 patients with IPA (24.07%) that met the definition of IPA (2 with positive cultures and 11 with positive galactomannan) and 41 without IPA. Only three patients with IPA had important comorbidities (COPD, chronic kidney disease, and HIV). Patients with IPA tended to have a higher median age (64.6 vs 53.59, p=0.075) and a higher serum glucose at their arrival (145 vs 119, p=0.028). All patients with IPA presented to the hospital with ARDS (100% vs 72.5%, p=0.034), but ultimately did not have a higher requirement for mechanical ventilation (100% vs 82.93%, p=0.110). There were no statistical significant differences in use of Tocilizumab, use of glucocorticoids, mortality (23.07% vs 17.50%, p=0.563) or length of stay. Conclusion It has been previously described that patients with acute respiratory disease syndrome triggered by viral infection, like the influenza virus, are prone to invasive aspergillosis even in the absence of underlying immunodeficiency. The use of antifungals to prevent aspergillosis in COVID-19 patients should be assessed because of the gravity presented in the patients with this co-infection. Abstract:
Binding of tritiated indole-3-acetic acid ([3H]IAA) to symbiosome membranes of soybean nodules occurred in a protein-dependent manner and was competitively inhibited by unlabeled indole-3-acetic acid (IAA), 1-naphthaleneacetic acid (1-NAA) and dithiothreitol (DTT), but not by tryptophan and benzoic acid. The symbiosome membranes bound IAA with a KD of 1 × 10-6 m. Photoaffinity labeling identified an auxin-binding protein (ABP) in the symbiosome membrane with an apparent molecular mass of 23 kDa. This 23 kDa protein was labeled either with 5-azido-[7-3H]indole-3-acetic acid ([3H]N3IAA) or with 5′-azido-[3,6-3H2]-1-naphthylphthalamic acid ([3H2]N3NPA). Labeling of the 23 kDa protein with [3H]N3IAA was competitively inhibited by unlabeled IAA and 1-NAA. NPA and quercetin, inhibitors of polar auxin transport, as well as rutin, a glycosylated derivative of quercetin, competed with IAA for binding. Conversely, [3H2]N3NPA labeling was inhibited by unlabeled IAA and NPA. The 23 kDa symbiosome membrane protein was partially solubilized with Triton X-100 and nearly completely using Triton X-114. The observation that auxin transport inhibitors compete with IAA for binding suggests that the symbiosome membrane ABP could be part of an auxin efflux carrier system required to control the auxin concentration in infected soybean nodule cells.

Abstract:
ABSTRACT The role of immunoglobulin A (IgA) anti-tissue transglutaminase antibodies (IgA-tTG) as predictors of untreated celiac disease (CoD) is well documented, and the presence and levels of these antibodies are most accurately monitored with native or recombinant human antigens. However, IgA-deficient CoD patients are not identified by IgA serology, and conflicting results concerning the diagnostic validity of IgG antibodies against gliadin (IgG-AGA), endomysium (IgG-EmA), and tTG (IgG-tTG) have been reported. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the utility of IgG-tTG for the detection of CoD in IgA-deficient patients. Samples from 115 IgA-deficient and 200 IgA-sufficient subjects were collected and tested for the presence of IgA and IgG antibodies against tTG, EmA, and AGA. Antibodies against tTG were measured by an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay based on recombinant human tTG, and antibodies against EmA were determined by immunofluorescence. The values for IgG-tTG showed a higher correlation (correlation coefficient [r] = 0.91) with those for IgG-EmA for the IgA-deficient subjects than for the IgA-sufficient subjects (r = 0.88). The overall concordance of the positive and negative results between IgG-tTG and IgG-EmA was 97%, and the IgG-tTG assay discriminated between IgG-EmA-positive and -negative subjects with IgA deficiency at a rate of 100%. Elevated levels of IgG-tTG and IgG-EmA were measured in 70% of the IgA-sufficient subjects. IgG-tTG detection with recombinant human tTG is a good alternative to IgG-EmA detection, and the addition of IgG-tTG assessment to present screening methods may improve the ability to identify IgA-deficient subjects with CoD.

Abstract:
During Apr. 1999, the lower branches of mature black walnut trees were removed and cut into sections 48 cm long and placed horizontally in plastic flats filled with perlite in a shaded polyethylene-covered greenhouse. Water was applied by drip emitters and care was taken to avoid overhead water contact with the stem sections. Within 2 months, elongating, green, leafy shoots were excised, brought into the laboratory, surface disinfested and placed in vitro onto agar-solidifed Long and Preece (LP) medium with 0.3 μM thidiazuron (TDZ), 0.5 μM indolebutyric acid (IBA), and either 0.1, 1.0, or 10.0 μM benzyladenine (BA). Explants were transferred to fresh medium after 1, 3, and 5 days in vitro and every 2 weeks thereafter. After 3 months in vitro, callus was excised and and explants were all placed on LP medium with 10 μM BA and 0.5 μM IBA for 4 weeks. They were then transferred to LP with 0.3 μM TDZ, 1.0 μM BA, and 0.5 μM IBA for 2 weeks. This 4-2-week alternation of media has continued for more than 6 months. After 4 months in vitro, shoot clusters were subdivided, and individual microshoots recultured. Of the original 260 explants, 30 survived and have been subdivided into 111 cultures. These explants have produced 132 axillary shoots that are also multiplying. Adult black walnut will acclimate and proliferate in vitro, but only with careful attention to detail and regular transfers to fresh medium.

Abstract:
In human toxocariasis, there are few approaches using immunological markers for diagnosis and therapeutic assessment. An immunoblot (IB) assay using excretory-secretory Toxocara canis antigen was standardized for monitoring IgG, IgE and IgA antibodies in 27 children with toxocariasis (23 visceral, three mixed visceral and ocular, and one ocular form) for 22-116 months after chemotherapy. IB sensitivity was 100% for IgG antibodies to bands of molecular weight 29-38, 48-54, 95-116, 121-162, >205 kDa, 80.8% for IgE to 29-38, 48-54, 95-121, > 205 kDa, and 65.4% for IgA to 29-38, 48-54, 81-93 kDa. Candidates for diagnostic markers should be IgG antibodies to bands of low molecular weight (29-38 and 48-54 kDa). One group of patients presented the same antibody reactivity to all bands throughout the follow-up study; in the other group, antibodies decayed partially or completely to some or all bands, but these changes were not correlated with time after chemotherapy. Candidates for monitoring patients after chemotherapy may be IgG antibodies to > 205 kDa fractions, IgA to 29-38, 48-54, 81-93 kDa and IgE to 95-121 kDa. Further identification of antigen epitopes related to these markers will allow the development of sensitive and specific immunoassays for the diagnosis and therapeutic assessment of toxocariasis.

Abstract:
Nos experimentos de eficiência de controle de plantas daninhas foram testados: imazamox (20, 30 e 40 g i.a./ha), bentazon (480 g i.a./ha), fomesafen (125 e 250 g i.a./ha), imazamox + bentazon (30+480 g i.a./ha), imazamox + fomesafen (30 + 125 g i.a./ha), bentazon / imazamox (480/30 g i.a/ha, aplicação seqüencial), fomesafen/imazmox (125/30 g i.a./ha, aplicação seqüencial), fomesafen/fomesafen (100/100 g i.a./ha, aplicação seqüencial) e testemunha.

Abstract:
An approach to assessing complex technical systems at an early stage of their development is considered. Complexes with multifunctional dual-use unmanned aerial vehicles are being investigated as complex technical systems. The nov-elty of the work lies in the integration of the assessment by structuring the methods and stochastic models of the analy-sis of complex technical systems in the technological computerized environment of the developer, choosing a decision-making strategy at the stages of preliminary design, including the method of expert assessments. Using the example of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), the technology of choosing a rational version of complex technical systems from among the alternatives of the formed model range using an information and analytical system (IAS) is shown. The IAS implements a procedure for multi-criteria assessment of complex technical systems based on the methods of expert assessments. The primary results of a comprehensive assessment of reconnaissance-strike and strike complexes of multifunctional UAVs weighing 0.3-2 tons have been obtained.
