Abstract:
From the long-term monitoring of isard females ( Rupicapra pyrenaica pyrenaica Bonaparte, 1845) marked in two areas of the Parc National des Pyrénées (France) with a quite constant population size for 20 years, we have conducted an analysis of age variation in recruitment (estimated as the proportion of offspring surviving through the winter per female). As predicted for a well-established high-density population, recruitment rates were low for young females (0.156 at 3 years of age and 0.221 at 4 years of age), but also for prime-aged females (0.414 per year for 5–16 year old females). From mid-June to mid-July, after the birth of kids, adult females and yearlings had exactly the same time budget (62% for foraging) and the same activity pattern, with a well-marked resting phase at midday. The island species–area relationship (ISAR) is a positive association between the number of species and the area of an isolated, island-like habitat. ISARs are ubiquitous across domains of life, yet the processes generating ISARs remain poorly understood, particularly for microbes. Larger and more productive islands are hypothesized to have more species because they support larger populations of each species and thus reduce the probability of stochastic extinctions in small population sizes. Here, we disentangled the effects of “island” size and productivity on the ISAR of Antarctic cryoconite

Abstract Regional science weaves in and out of the story of post-war economic geography. The vision of one man, the American economist Walter Isard, regional science represented the first systematic attempt to further joint work between geographers and economists. Within this context, the tasks of the paper are twofold. The first is to provide an interpretative history of the rise of regional science, and to a much lesser extent its decline. The interpretative framework derives from science studies, and in particular the work of Bruno Latour. The history is based on archival material and inter

Soybean rust (SBR), caused by the obligate fungus Phakopsora pachyrhizi Syd. & P. Syd., was initially reported on soybean (Glycine max L.) in Louisiana in 2004 and has since been reported on soybean and/or kudzu (Pueraria lobata (Willd.) Ohwi) in 9 states in 2005, 15 states in 2006, and 19 states in 2007 (1). The host range of P. pachyrhizi includes plants that are all in the Fabaceae or legume family. Six plant species in the United States have been reported as hosts of P. pachyrhizi: soybean, kudzu, Florida beggarweed (Desmodium tortuosum (Sw) DC.), dry bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.), lima

Abstract:
A novel multiview inverse synthetic aperture radar (ISAR) imaging method is proposed to simulate high-resolution and identifiable ISAR image of complex targets by handling large-angle and wide-bandwidth scattering data. The scattering data are simulated with the shooting and bouncing ray (SBR) method. The bidirectional ray-tracing algorithm is developed to reduce the computation time. Simulation results indicate that the improved method is efficient and reliable to calculate electromagnetic (EM) scattering of electrically large targets. To implement the multiview ISAR imaging method after data

Abstract:
The study aims to investigate the Islamic Social Reporting Disclosure (ISRD) practicesin Sharia Banks of Indonesia and determine the non financial factors that may influence to level of ISRD on 2010 – 2012. The samples in this study are 30 annual reports of sharia banks for three years. Level of ISRD is measured by ISR index that have six categories including investment and finance, corporate governance, product and services, employee, society, and environment. This study identified three non financial factors that influence to level of ISRD such as Media Exposure, main institusional ownership
