Abstract:

The four libraries have used the right selection tools, but most of them have not utilized reviews of books based on online sources and social media. At present, the four libraries have not had any special subjects which potentially emerged as a distinction of the libraries’ collection. Nevertheless, there has been a plan to develop such a special subject of Islamic collection. The use of Islamic literature collections among students were considered in medium level of use. The challenges in developing Islamic literature collections are sourced both from internal and external sources. Internally, the library has not evaluated their collection development policies. While the low participation of lecturers in the development of library collections emerged as obstacles from external sources. Conclusions. Based on the findings, it can be concluded that the libraries involved in this study still needs improvements in some areas.

Abstract:
This study aims to find a model of human relations with God in the Islamic libraries of Kejawen in Simuh’s view. Simuh introduce the Javanese Islamic literature referred to literature was written by Javanese Islamic leaders in the early of Islam in Java. The literature contains many Islamic teachings manifested in the language and worldview of the Javanese people. To find this relation, this research uses quantitative methods with literature study research techniques. To achieve the expected analysis, this study also uses the hermeneutic method. This study concludes that Simuh's reading of the Javanese Islamic literature concerning human relations with God has an anthropocentism style. Humans become the main axis in every concept of Sufism. To achieve the perfection of this relationship, humans first take inner behavior (laku batin), so that morality can be formed. This moral implementation will then lead humans to achieve oneness, so that they become perfect human beings. With the concept of anthropocentric Sufism, this study finds its relevance to previous research which states that the Javanese Sufism style has differences with the Islamic Sufism style which is theocentric.

Abstract:
The Libraries that have rich collections on Islam are facing the problems of knowledge organization while classifying materials on Islam. This is because the standard classification systems like Dewey Decimal Classification, Library of Congress Classification, Universal Decimal Classification, Bliss Classification, and Colon Classification, which are used by a huge number of libraries, have not provided with sufficient place and proper enumeration or hierarchy for Islamic knowledge. Subsequently, different alternative solutions have been sorted by scholars and opted by these libraries. These solutions include expansions made in standard clas-sification systems with different approaches and indigenous classification systems for Islam. Despite these solutions, the libraries had problems and were not satisfied. This study has addressed this problem, reviewing litera-ture on the problem and collecting empirical data from relevant libraries and scholars of Library and Information Science (LIS) from nine different countries of the world, using interviewing as data collection instrument. Findings of literature and empirical data confirmed the existence of prob-lem and dissatisfaction of libraries. Consequently, the optimal solution in-dicated in literature and by researched population has been brought for-ward in this research, i.e., development of an independent and comprehensive classification system for Islamic knowledge. This system has been got verified by the scholars of LIS and of Islamic Studies.

Abstract:
The Special Collections of the Cadbury Research Library at the University of Birmingham hold seven early Qur’ānic pieces on parchment and papyrus dating from the seventh century. Alphonse Mingana purchased them from the antiquarian dealer von Scherling in 1936. Through investigation of the private correspondence of Mingana and archival documents, this research provides new information about the origin and history of the fragments, whose reception has been influenced by the European cultural context at the beginning of the twentieth century, in contrast with the public image proposed in catalogues, official documents and previous studies. Furthermore, this research is an attempt to initiate an alternative perspective in analysing and editing the physical objects and texts of early Qur’ānic manuscripts by applying digital philology, thus using XML-encoded expressions to transcribe all of the richness of manuscripts in reconstructing the history of their transmission. This perspective interprets the process of the making of the manuscript text and the context in which the manuscript was written, thus editing its mobile and multi-layered text, differently from previous examples of the edition of early Qur’ānic manuscripts.

Abstract:
The fourth chapter is a discussion based on the total number of biographies, and the medieval as well as the contemporary literature available. It discusses professional, social, geographical, religious and economic aspects of the Jewish medical practitioners (mainly physicians); places of medical practice, the practitioners’ professional education, intellectual workshops (i.e. libraries), and their professional roles, mainly that of ‘Head of the Physicians’. It also deals with everyday life and activity of Jewish practitioners, moral aspects, fees and the ‘Geniza’ patients, as well as religious and inter-religious aspects of Jewish practitioners, the high-ranking positions Jewish practitioners held, conversion to Islam, and famous Jewish scholars, authors, poets and diplomats who were simultaneously practitioners. A few more insights are related to community affairs, socio-economic position of Jewish practitioners, their role in the leadership, their share in charity activities, and the inter-community posts they held. The last section of this chapter endorses aspects such as: Karaite and Samaritan practitioners and geographical aspects (Jewish practitioners in Andalusia, north Africa, Sicily, Egypt, Syria, Iraq, Iran and Azerbaijan).
