Abstract:
The decline in numbers of Muslims and the lack of interest in religious studies were ironic for the State Islamic Universities (Universitas Islam Negeri — UIN) which one of its universities uses the name Walisongo (i.e. nine medieval saints who spread Islam in Java). The Islamic propagation of Walisongo evidently aimed at the Islamization of the Javanese isle, production of ‘ulama cadres, and establishment of an Islamic society. The religious faculties at UINs which are the continuity of Walisongo's efforts in propagating the Islamic teachings have been lessening recently. The purpose of this research was to analyze the causes of students’ low interest towards the religious faculties at UINs, and to relate them to the spirit of Walisongo's undertakings. This research was a literature research with a qualitative approach which did not hold quantitative data calculation. This research concluded that the existence of religious faculties at UINs was in line with the goal of Walisongo that was the spread of Islam through educational institutions. The entity of religious faculties that could be said as a continuation of Walisongo’s struggle in propagating Islam comprised four faculties: Adab, Ushuluddin, Syarī’ah, and Da'wah. For a special case at UIN of Jakarta, there is the Faculty of Dirāsāt Islamiyyāh cooperating with Al-Azhar University in Cairo. Faculties of religiosity had their golden age during IAIN period, yet have been waning throughout UIN period. The decline was assessed by the indicator of the decreasing number of students, particularly, compared to the number of students enrolled in the secular faculties at UINs.

Abstract:
According to the provision under Article 11(1) of Federal Constitution, those who professing non-Islamic Religion can practice their belief freely, subject to the restriction that they cannot propagate their belief to Muslims. Meanwhile, Article 11(4) of Federal Constitution gave the authorization to the state in Malaysia to control or restrict the propagation of any religious doctrine or belief among Muslims. In relation to both provisions stated above, triggered an enactment on Controlling and Restricting the Propagation of Non-Islamic Religion to Muslims, which has been legislated since 1980 by the state of Terengganu, and then followed by other states in Malaysia. To date, after 37 years of legislation and introduction of the enactment, all states in Malaysia have gazetted this except Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur, Pulau Pinang, Sarawak, and Sabah. However, there were only seven out of ten states has gazetted the authority to their Islamic Enforcement Officers to execute the law. The purpose of this article is to give justification about the source of power and jurisdiction of the Islamic Enforcement Officer related to the said Enactment. From 2014 to 2017, twelve (12) Islamic Enforcement Officers has been interviewed structurally and non-structurally in order to obtain related information pertaining to this issue. This study revealed that the respondents (Islamic Enforcement Officers) were not aware about the existence of the said Enactment in their states as well as about the power and jurisdiction that are already in their possession, including when facing any cases in court against the non-Muslim accused. Therefore, the importance of this research is to empower the institution of justice in Malaysia in handling the issues of propagation of the non-Islamic Religion towards Muslims, in corresponding to limit the rights of propagating religion, as provided under the Federal Constitution.

Abstract:
AbstractIslamic finance has been growing significantly across the globe. In Southeast Asia, interest in Islamic finance and its growth is significant in Malaysia. Compared with Malaysia, in Indonesia, however, the largest Muslim population country where an Islamic resurgence has been widely taking place, the growth of Islamic banks remains slower and on a smaller scale. Furthermore, recent research shows that Islamic piety does not systematically translate into the use of Islamic banks among middle-class Indonesians. Against these findings, this article highlights a relatively understudied Islamic finance institution, Islamic Savings and Credit Cooperatives, in Indonesia commonly known as Baitul Maal wat Tamwil (BMT). The BMT sector is separate from the banking sector and as such has received little scholarly attention as part of Islamic finance in Indonesia. The number of the BMTs in Indonesia has increased significantly since the 1990s and they are grass-roots Islamic financial institutions offering financial services to relatively small-scale traders in urban areas. Based on data from anthropological research in Central Java, this article argues that Islamic propagation is an important element among the BMT founders and workers. They perceive their economic activities as Islamic propagation by deeds (dakwah bil hal) to achieve social justice.

Abstract:
This article aims to examine the Awik-awik originating from the local wisdom of a Muslim community in West Lombok and analyzes its interrelation to Islamic propagation (dakwah). This traditional village norms serve as a guide to the people to deal with the forest. Since Islam promotes the preservation of nature, it then aligns itself with such local wisdom. Based on an ethnogrpahic study in Sesaot village and built on the theory of local wisdom, this study attempts to describe the contain, structure and socialization of the awik-awik when it is reshaped from a traditional norm to a written rule agreed upon by the community members. Substantially, the stipulation of the awik-awik could reinforce Islamic doctrines on natural resource maintenance. Moreover, the ways in which the awik-awik is socialized before being implemented resemble the method of religious propagation. This indicat that Awik-awik could be an effective means of Islamic propagation to provide enlightenment to the community because the material arisen from the local wisdom of local communities reflect important Islamic message on the preservation of environment.

Abstract:
This article studies the role of women of the Tablighi Jamaat, a transnational Islamic propagation movement, in the process of Islamic propagation (da’wah) in Indonesia. It aims to analyze the role played by female followers of Tablighi Jamaat in developing da’wah by focusing on the role of nyai (female family members of a religious leader of traditional Islamic learning institution [pesantren]) in developing masturah da’wah in Pesantren Al-Fatah and Temboro Village. This study uses a qualitative approach to understand how nyai of Pesantren Al-Fatah were involved in da’wah activities in Temboro. The required data were collected through observation and interviews. The findings show that like their spouses who were obliged to go for da’wah in the form of khuruj, female followers of Tablighi Jamaat of Pesantren Temboro were assigned to conduct da’wah through masturah, a form of Islamic propagation which was only targeted on, organized and attended by the women of Tablighi Jamaah in Temboro with strict rules such the obligation of wearing face veils for all participants. Nyai of Pesantren Al-Fatah initiated, led, and developed masturah so that Tablighi Jamaat has attracted more followers and religious students and Temboro has experienced significant changes in social, religious, and economic aspects.

Abstract:
The rapid development of new media gives an impact on almost every corner of people’s life. This development also opens the opportunity to the missionaries to use social media as a medium to deliver Islamic propagation. Hence, the transformation occurs in the method of Islamic propagation delivery among the missionaries who started using social media, especially Facebook. This is because social media is suitable as a compliment and an alternative medium to the da’wah medium of the existing. However, the use of social media in delivering the message of Islamic da’wah should be carried out prudently and wisely to different audiences. Accordingly, this research aims to identify the category of the message, the function of the messages, and the delivery strategy of Islamic propagation through the medium of Facebook of five elected missionaries. Five Facebook pages have been chosen and analyzed using the thematic analysis with NVivo software. The theme of this study has been prepared in advance because this research involves the knowledge related to the Islamic laws that have been established by the tenets of Islam. The theoretical framework of this study is built base on the Framing Theory. The results obtained showed that the majority of the messages displayed in the selected Facebook pages categorized as religious missionaries. The function to encourage charity is a message that often discussed in the analyzed entry. However, the strategy of choice for missionaries to be applied on their Facebook page is the writing that has the effect of information. The findings can be referred to the missionaries and also to the government agencies and NGOs in practicing and strategizing before the establishment of Islamic missionary message is disseminated to the public. Utilizing an accurate delivery strategy will be more appealing and provide a positive impact on society. Keywords: Social media, Facebook, Islamic Da’wah, Framing Theory

Abstract:
Since the turn of the 20th century, a broad range of Islamic revivalist movements have sprung up in Muslim societies around the globe, especially where Muslims have formerly experienced, primarily through European colonisation, a gradual decline in key Islamic institutions and threats to their identity. Islamic revivalist movements have consequently emerged to inculcate religious principles en masse in the Muslim World through institutional developments, socio-political activities, missionary preaching, and propagation. Movements such as Ilyas’s Tabligh Jama’at and Maududi’s Jama’at-e-Islami are at the forefront of this enterprise and have both demonstrated their potential for bringing about important spiritual and social changes, particularly in Muslim-majority societies. Having been initiated in the Indian subcontinent, both movements currently have global and transnational influence. These two movements, however, have some fundamental differences with regard to their attitude towards polity and social development. In this paper, we compare and contrast the major characteristics of the two movements. A comparative appraisal of these two significant revivalist movements is expected to contribute to an understanding of the socio-religious discourse surrounding the phenomenon of Islamic revivalism. With this comparison, we argue that the differences in their methods are complementary rather than antagonistic, and generally pursue a similar greater goal: reviving Islam and returning society to a stable and harmonious state.

Pesantren Hidayatullah conducts public fundraising program by forming a charity organization, namely Baitul Maal Hidayatullah (BMH). The finding reveals that the majority of the fund raised from public is used to finance Hidayatullah’s schools and dakwa missions. Abstract:
Islamic preaching (dakwa) and nasyid are two elements that have different meaning, but have similarities in purpose, that is to convey the message of Islamic preaching (dakwa). At this time nasyid becomes one of alternatives chosen as a medium to spread propagation through the lyrics of a song presented by a murshid. Thus, nasyid has conveyed messages of Islamic preaching through lyrics of a song indirectly. In this study the authors collected data from several referral sources related to Islamic preaching and nasyid derived from books, journals, and other referral sources related to the title of the study. The study found a relationship between Islamic preaching and nasyid that can be seen in terms of goals. In addition, nasyid also becomes a connection between Islamic preaching and society. It can serve as a medium in conveying Islamic preaching. It cannot be denied that Islamic preaching activities must use various media as a means of delivery Islamic messages. Hence, this study is expected to be input to use nasyid as a medium in conveying Islamic preaching.

Abstract:
For the past few years, Lombok in particular and West Nusa Tenggara in general have not only been known as an island of thousand mosques, but also as a world tourist destination, particularly Shari’a compliance (halal) tourism. With such a new branding, respective stakeholders on the island should therefore make an effort to plan strategies for presenting the concept of halal tourism that serve and benefit both domestic and foreign tourists. Dakwah (Islamic propagation/preaching) can play an important role in strengthening local people’s faith while also balancing between religiosity and tourism. This study looks into how the halal tourism ‘brand’ can be manifested in Gili Air, one of the famous small islands of tourist destination located in the northern part of Lombok. The study reveals that the dakwah strategies for shari’a tourism in Gili Air are carried out through twofold strategies, namely da‘wah bi al-lisān and da‘wah bi al-ḥāl. The first refers to a model where the activities of propagation revolve around preaching of Islamic tenets. The latter emphasizes actualization of Islamic doctrines into daily life.

<p>This article aims to describe Islamic religious thought of Muslim student at Khairun<br />University in Ternate and the dynamic of religious movement organizations on campus. Informants of this study were selected using purposive method including activists of Islamic organizations, students, and lecturers of the university. Data were collected using interviews, observation, and documentation, and searching data related to social context of the study from the internet. Findings of the research shows that the type of religious understanding and nationality of Muslim students after the reformation era at Khairun University began experiencing a shift since the presence of trans-national organizations, such as the Indonesian Muslim Student Action Union (KAMMI), Campus Propagation Institute (LDK), Hizbut Tahrir (HT), and Wahdah Islamiyah (WI). Those organizations adopt fundamentalists thought who want purification of Islam, and anti-tradition. Nationality thought adopted by these organizations is a country that imposes Islamic law and Establishes a state of Khilafah (HT). Abstract:
This paper explores the universal principles of Islamic propagation (da’wah) according to the holy Qur’an. In doing this, the paper employs the thematic approach by collecting the Qur’anic verses that speak of da’wah, and interpret them analytically. Specific attention will be given to the verses that are rooted in the Arabic word da’a, which means “to call”, and balagha, which means “to convey”. Other verses that have to do with the activity of da’wah will be touched briefly. The paper argues that the concepts of “calling” and “conveying” constitute the most important and central notion of da’wah in Islam. Together the two represent the holistic Islamic idea of not only spreading out Islam, but also of building a community based on religiosity. Islamic concept of da’wah is universal because it targets not only Muslim but also all human being based on understanding, tolerance and harmony.

Using a qualitative research for conceptual design, this study has found that the proliferation of cyber religious proselytizing leads the elements of da'wah have become ever-widening concepts. The concept of da’i, for instance, has experienced the reconceptualisation that not only refers to person who convey Islamic teachings through religious sermon (khutbah), but also denotes to a creative content provider for da’wah purposes in the internet. Additionally, the power of preaching in the new media lies in good, comprehensive, and argumentative messages. Purpose This paper aims to explore the determinants of intention to use Islamic banking and compare the consumer behavior of users and non-users of Islamic banking. This study incorporates the theory of planned behavior in Islamic banking perspective with an additional construct from technology acceptance model. Design/methodology/approach The research is quantitative in nature, and survey questionnaire was used to get data from four cities of Pakistan. The study manages to get 300 questionnaires from which only 264 were usable for analysis. The structural equation modeling was used for testing the hypotheses. Findings The result shows that perceived behavior control and perceived usefulness are the most significant predictors of intention to use of Islamic banking among users and non-users. Attitude turns out to be a non-significant factor for non-users of Islamic banking. Subjective norm is also found to be non-significant with intention to use Islamic banking in both groups. Originality/value This study has theoretical as well as practical significance in the subject of consumer behavior in Islamic banking. Theoretically, it attempts to fill the gap caused by the scarcity of research in exploring the consumer behavior towards Islamic banking in Pakistan. This study provides insights into the consumer behavior of users and non-users of Islamic banking and thus presents a comparison. Practically, this study provides guidelines for Islamic banks in introduction, propagation and promotion of Islamic banking products and services to establish Islamic banking as a social norm.

Abstract:
ABSTRACTIslam in KwaZulu-Natal has typically been seen as an Indian preserve and as closely linked with contestations around South African Indian identities. Against this background, dedication to Islam among Africans has appeared as exceptional, represented by groupings with particular histories of immigration from Mozambique, Malawi or Zambia. Since the 1970s, strong efforts have been made to extend the call of Islam to Africans in the province, as demonstrated in the mobilization efforts of the Islamic Propagation Centre International and the Muslim Youth Movement, and in the dawah projects of transnational Islamic NGOs like the World Assembly of Muslim Youth. Following the transition to democracy in 1994, Islam played an important role in establishing contacts between South Africans and the thousands of immigrants from other African countries – many of them with an Islamic background – who have been coming into KwaZulu-Natal. The essay discusses two different examples of Islamic practice in an African informal settlement on the outskirts of Durban, and demonstrates their different understandings of the relationship between Islam and African cultural ‘custom’. It places these differences of local theology and politics in the context of propagations of Islam as manifested in the writings of Ahmed Deedat and recent examples of pamphlet literature by African Muslims. It argues that understandings of Islam in KwaZulu-Natal as an African religion relate the area to the Indian Ocean world not only though links across the sea to South Asia, but also along the coast – bridging the gap between the Swahili continuum to the north and transnational Islam in the Cape.

Mobile devices like Smartphones, tablets and PDAs have become an indispensable part of every person’s day to day activities. The growth and propagation of the smartphones has created new opportunities for religious app developers to develop apps that will provide utilities and an easy accessibility to religious information. The purpose of this research is to conduct a survey and to classify Islamic apps that are available on Google Play Store. The user surveys were conducted to evaluate and investigate the usage pattern of the Islamic apps in everyday life of the Muslims. The results identify the need of authentication of the app content that gives rise to many critical issues and myths. Also, it stresses the need for a “Religion” category in Google Play Store. The benefit of this research is twofold, as it focuses on identifying which app features Muslim users are more interested in using and secondly, the Islamic apps/features that need to be developed.

Among the most important duties of the pure Imams are to spread Islamic teachings, to prepare the ground to deepen such education, and to educate the Islamic society so as to reach perfection and salvation. Indeed, different methods have been used to such an end, one which is to teach praying and its propagation at different occasions among the members of the Islamic society in order to promote Islamic Lifestyle. In this article, the authors have studied methodologically and analytically the prepositions in Imam Reza (AS) (eighth Imam of Shī'a) prayers. The aim was to find the role and applications of such an instinctual and religious tool in educating members of society and to come up with a general model which explains, from Imam Reza (AS)’s viewpoint, the training methods to lead people and Islamic society, i.e. Islamic Lifestyle fulfillment. For this end, using content analysis method, each prayer’s speech framework and their aspects were first classified based on topic. Then they were analyzed to reach the governing system of the prayers language, to discover the training methods and the ways for their localization in the society’s educational system, and to find the best methods to propagate Islamic lifestyle.

The Indonesian Islamic Da'wah Institute (LDII) is connoted as the successor of the Islamic struggle of the Jamaah, so that a false labeling emerges by certain parties. Although there are many indications that direct such perceptions, LDII is essentially an organization formed by the New Order government that is tasked with fixing the deviations of Islamic teachings by the Islamic Jamaah group. From 1990 to 2017. The strategy and management of the development of the propaganda of the Indonesian Islamic Propagation Institute from 1990 to 2017 further enhances religious understanding of its members. Although the number of worshipers can increase but that is the focus of his preaching on the improvement of religious understanding. In carrying out its religious activities, members or worshipers do not have to be fixated on their place of residence. But LDII members can attend the study at the LDII mosque on the spot. Management in this LDII Organization in carrying out its Islamic da'wah is accompanied by plans, work programs and evaluation of the activity process. And it is personal by inviting the closest Muslim community such as relatives, neighbors to participate in its activities. LDII uses strategies in the fields of religion, sports and others to develop its Islamic da'wah.

Author realizes in this article: research of the genesis and causes of appearance of the movement "Islamic State"; analysis of the sociopolitical and geopolitical situation of the Iraqi Sunni community after the American invasion of 2003; bringing to the light factors of the high scale propagation of the Islamic extremism in Syria and Iraq; research of the military and political potential of the "Islamic State" and factors which could impede its expansion. Author considers "Islamic State" as an emergent phenomenon giving huge impact on the political situation in the Middle East. It provoked repartition of the old frontiers existed since the Sykes-Pico treaty of 1916. To the author's opinion oppression of the Iraqi Sunni community by the government of Nuri al-Maliki was the main cause of the Sunni revolt in Summer of 2014. Sunni tribes of Northern Iraq and former Baath party members were the driving forces of the revolt but then Jihadi extremists hijacked this revolt. To the author's mind elimination of the "Islamic State" is impossible without reconciliation between various religious communities in Syria and Iraq.

Abstract:
The paper discusess the idea of Hijrah and its historic role in the process of Islamic propagation (da’wah). Hijrah is a physical migration from Mekkah to Medinah; a migration that has implied both religious and spiritual transofrmation. In its literal meaning, Hijrah is simply to move from one place to another. In the history of da’wah, Hijrah is a moment in which Islam underwent a process of change and transition from one situation into another. Hijrah was the first stepping stone toward the more vibrant and active propagation of Islam. The paper deals with this notion of Hijrah as the strategic move toward the successful mission of disseminating Islam. These issues together with the many implications that Hijrah has will be the focus of this paper. The paper argues that Hijrah is not simply to make a physical movement from one place to another. It is also about the spiritual and religious transformation of the Muslim ummah. Through Hijrah a new social, political and cultural order is resurrected. To make our discussion more lively, the paper will refer to many Qur’anic verses and prophetic traditions that speak of Hijrah and interpret them in the light of the historic Hijrah. Hence, we look at Hijrah as not only an event in history, but also a norm of religion that has a spiritual value of its own.

Abstract:
Education has always been instrumental in the dissemination of religious ideas, rituals and values. In the Islamic tradition it is the classical method of propagation and, therefore, education as a means of instructing and motivating (prospective) believers is an integral part of da’wah. Da’wah operates on two fronts: (i) towards Muslim who are perhaps unaware of Islam, maybe because of growing up in the western lifestyle and missing out of a proper Islamic education, and (ii) towards our non-muslim neighbours and colleagues, many of whom may be searching for truth. At the very least, we may be able to counter-act the many incorrect stereotypes of Islam and muslims, no one else will do this for us, we have to speak up and show by our behaviour what Islam is all about. By doing this, we may even bring people into the fold of Islam. Contemporary du'at face great challenges to systematize and to apply the practical methodology within the new era of modern context. This paper discusses some suggestions that Muslim du'at, individually and collectively can undertake to accomplish da’wah goals: i) performing da’wah through a worldwide Islamic movement, ii) strengthening da’wah with technology, iii) using communication media and conducting seminars and workshops, iv) displaying the real Islamic lifestyle.

Muslims have been at the top of the glory of civilization with a combination of excellence achieved in the East and West. To the east, the progress made in Kufa, Baghdad and Damascus is a turning point towards the propagation of Islamic civilization. While on the west, Sicilian control has opened the eyes of the world. While the success achieved in Andalusia cannot be matched at that time by other European powers. Almost 14 centuries of Islam dominated the world stage. The development achieved in the aspects of science, architecture, science, technology and so on can not be matched at that time by any external force. This shows that the Islamic government has never forgotten the development aspect, but it is one of the important aspects of civilization. Among this achievement were contributed by Islamic scholar in Ottoman Empire such as Yusuf Sinauddin bin Abdul Mennan or Abdullah. He recognized as Mi’mar Sinan. This article aims to analyze the contribution of Sinan in regional development which was focusing in field of civil engineering. It involved content analysis as method for collecting the data. The presence of Islamic preachers in the current Indonesia has marked the awakening of the world of da’wah. However, this phenomenon also has raised people's criticisms concerning the competence and credibility of Muslim preachers (da'i). This article reports on a library research regarding the conceptual comparison of Islamic propagation (da'wah) and Aristotle's rhetoric with regard to the qualifications of da'i. The results of this study has indicated that the rhetoric of da'wah which primarily rooted from divine revelation has conceptual relevance to Aristotle's rhetoric; ethos, pathos and logos. In this regard, a da'i is not only required to have credibility with moral qualities, good intentions and goals. In addition, they are also required to have the authority and scientific competence as well as an understanding of the nature of mad'u.

Every human being has potentialities of inherently being a preacher to call on or influence others to follow what he delivers. In Islam, human goodness is, among others, measured by indicators that he is useful and helpful to others. Islamic studies at universities, as one of the factors having dakwah (propagation) substances by, for example, organizing students in a sometimes-structured program, have the same function, namely by increasing and improving the quality of students' diversity, which according to Jalaluddin Rahmat can and should be viewed as a comprehensive commitment consisting of such aspects as mystical, ritual, ideological, intellectual and social. On account of the Islamic studies at universities have generally the dakwah substances to the academicians, there are some important points that could be taken into account as the opportunities and capital as well (1) the development of spiritual yearning among students (2) the revival of spiritualism (3) the establishment of campus mosques littered fully with various activities (4) the diversity of religious understanding (5) the amount of accessible information. The dakwah (propagation) movements on campus can take various forms (1) Tilawah (recitation) with the aim of paying more attention to the natural phenomena as the signs of Allah with such indicators as the way of thinking and the remembrance of God (zikr); (2) Tazkiyah (purification) with the aim of maintaining and purifying the self both physically and spiritually. (3) Ta'lim (religious study) with the aim of reading, understanding and reflecting the Qur'anic verses with the indicator of being able to recite the Qur'an. (4) Islah (reconciliation) with the aim of having a sensitivity to others with the indicator of having social sensitivity. All these could be used as the form and purpose of Islamic studies at universities that essentially have dakwah substances.

Abstract:
Ibn Khaldun is one of the great scholars in the fields of sociology, history, philosophy, religion and politics. His thoughts are illuminating to scholars both in the East and the West. This study aims to examine this Muslim scholar’s thought on Islamic government and political system. Based on a critical-textual analysis of his work, this study shows that Ibn Khaldun formulates caliphate as general leadership of all Muslims in the world and is aimed at upholding shari’a law and spreading Islamic propagation and functions both for handling religious and worldly political affairs. The philosophical and historical analysis shows that the caliphate emerged upon the death of the Prophet and the ideal system of the caliphate lasted in the four righly-guided of the Prophet’s successors. In the subsequent periods, the Islamic leadership theories and practices vary accordingly, ranging from caliphate to imamate. Nowadays, there is a call to return to the caliphate system but, as this study argues, in the Ibn Khaldun practical-realistic theory, such a call is hardly fulfilled due to irreconcilable political system and different socio-religious contexts between those ideal periods and those of the current challenges.

Abstract:
Even a layman will find this talk by Joseph Stigliz worth noting. The talk took place late last year, meant for fellow researchers, economists, academicians and thinkers held in Scotland on this holistic topic “Creating a Learning Society”. In finding a nexus between the thoughts of a Nobel Laureate and Islam, such a propagation has well been documented more than fourteen hundred years ago when the Quran states in Surah Al Mujadilah 58:11 that “Allah will exalt those of you who believe, and those who are given knowledge, in high degrees; and Allah is Aware of what you do”. Also, the Hadith states as narrated by Anas bin Mâlik: The Messenger of Allah said “Seeking knowledge is a duty upon every Muslim” (Sunan Ibn e Majah, Book of Sunnah, Hadith no 224, Classified as Sahih By Allama Albani). Indeed, this is a principle to adhere to for all mankind to be in the wealth of knowledge, in order to transform a society.

Abstract:
The da'wah propagation of Islam in the archipelago has shown such strong accommodation to the local traditions of the local community. This shows that the character of Indonesian Islam is able to dialogue with tradition and culture. This paper tries to examine the concept of cultural da'wah and the relationship between Islam and local culture. Cultural Da'wah is a da'wah that considers all forms of culture that are developing in society. Cultural propaganda is one of the da'wah approaches in dealing with heterogeneous societies of culture. Islam has an important role in facing cultural transformation. The process of Islamic dialogue with community traditions can be realized with cultural systems and mechanisms in dealing with local negotiations. From the display illustrates that in reality, Islam is in contact with local teachings (traditions) so as to form a new formulation of Islam and Islamic local culture.

Abstract:
This article describes a typical Javanese Islamic image that is featured in the movie series "Saridin" featuring Saridin as the main play. In his time, Saridin was one of the most important figures in the propagation of Islamic preaching in Pati, his birthplace, with a distinctive religiosity which in some ways was still influenced by Hindu-Buddhist traditions, such as; semedi, selametan, nyadran, and tirakatan. It is an example of a form of Islam-acculturation, which in the macro context is familiarly called "Islam Nusantara". Islam Nusantara is often accused of being a destroyer of the basics of true Islam, which for the pro-Islamic group of acculturation means otherwise. Initially, the film was released by the director, Alman Eko Darmo, along with his friends of the Pati humanist as an expression of their anxiety about the static ketoprak art in Pati, as well as the rebirth of Saridin's classic spectacles which are regularly featured in Ketoprak and last in the Mp3 version. On June 30, 2016, CMC successfully conducted the inaugural launch of the Saridin movie series; Saridin Andum Waris, Saridin Ngerombang, and followed by Saridin Geger Palembang and Saridin Ondo Rante in September 2016. The films have received various responses from various parties, including the observers of da'wah of Islamic –acculturation. For them the presence of Saridin the movie series contains educational message that is appropriate for their da'wah media.
