Abstract:
Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to initiate researches in the direction of integrating knowledge management (KM) principles with ISO 9001:2008 Supported Quality System and motivate the practitioners to implement such integrated system in real-time practice. Design/methodology/approach – The principles of KM were integrated with the five major clauses of ISO 9001:2000 standard. After designing this integrated system, it was subjected to peripheral implementation study in a government-managed company situated in India. The knowledge portal required for maintaining this integrated system was also developed. Findings – ISO 9001:2008 and ISO 9001:2000 standards rest on the same process-based quality system model which is comprised of five major clauses. Hence, the integrated system proposed in this paper can be utilized by the contemporary organizations to infuse KM principles in ISO 9001:2008 based quality system. Research limitations/implications – Though the integrated system designed in this research could not be implemented in a full-fledged manner, the experiences gained have been useful to indicate the future direction of research and practice for integrating KM principles with ISO 9001:2008 Supported Quality System. Practical implications – A roadmap has been evolved to guide the practitioners to implement Knowledge Managed ISO 9001:2008 Supported Quality System. Originality value – No researcher or practitioner has so far contributed a model integrating the process-based quality system incorporated in ISO 9001:2000 and ISO 9001:2008 standards with KM principles. As this gap is filled in this paper, the contributions of this paper are valuable to both researchers and practitioners.

PurposeThe purpose of this paper is to explore the relationship between total quality management (TQM) practices and quality performance with special emphasis on ISO 9001:2000 certified manufacturing organizations in Malaysia.Design/methodology/approachThe empirical data was drawn from 122 ISO 9001:2000 certified manufacturing organizations in Malaysia. The data were analyzed using correlation and multiple regression analyses.FindingsThe findings revealed that TQM practices were found to be partially correlated with quality performance of the Malaysian ISO 9001:2000 certified manufacturing organizations. It is also found that where customer focus and continual improvement were perceived as dominant TQM practices in quality performance.Research limitations/implicationsThis research paper was limited by excluding non‐ISO 9001:2000 certified organizations in the selection of manufacturing firms in Malaysia, making this a possibly biased selection, which might not adequately represent the Malaysian perspective on the entire Malaysia's manufacturing industry.Originality/valueThe outcome of the study could provide valuable knowledge to top management of ISO 9001:2000 certified manufacturing organizations to refine their quality management practices and subsequently improve quality performance.

This research explores the impact of the firm’s internal and external attributes on its degree of implementation of quality management according to the ISO 9000 standard. This econometric study, based on the data gathered from a sample of Tunisian companies certified or in the course of certification in ISO 9001: 2000, reveals that the application of quality management depends on the organizational and environmental context of the company: a motivation rather internal than external to be certified, the application of ISO 9004 standard recommendations, the adhesion of the company to the leveling program, size, investment in new technologies of information and communication and in technologies of analysis and measurement and the importance of innovation and quality criterion for customers.

The role of international standards is analysed in accordance with the quality management of organisations by the requirements of sustainable development. Organisations and companies become increasingly dependent on each other and foreign partners in business, prosperity, socio‐economic change and environment responsibility. There is an essential necessity for using International Standards under these changing conditions. The management systems standards ISO 9001 (quality) and ISO 14001 (environment) have gained recognition in Lithuania. ISO 9001:2000 is approaching 750 and ISO 14001 is approaching 140 certifications across a diverse range of organisations in the manufacturing, service and government areas. The narrow view of quality management has now been swept aside by ISO 9000:2000 quality management principles that aim to help organisations achieve sustained success. But there are some difficulties in implementing these principles. Auditors are responsible for correct implementation of standards. For the auditors they represent a key for transforming the way quality system audits, as recognised by the International Accreditation Forum (IAF). Too many auditors lack real interpersonal skills or experience to engage effectively both main board directors and the shop floor workers. It is very important that auditors must have sufficient preparation, training and gravitas and will be reluctant to engage top management and have capability to interface at this level. The main topics of how to manage quality audit according to the requirements and new quality management principles of ISO 9000:2000 standards are presented in this article. It also provides recommendations on the management of audit programmes, the conduct of internal or external audits of quality management systems, as well as on the competence and evaluation of auditors. This article provides auditors with effective questioning techniques that will enable them to establish that an organisation is managing its processes effectively. Santrauka Straipsnyje analizuojamas tarptautinius standartus atitinkančių kokybės vadybos sistemų vaidmuo darniam organizacijų vystymui. Įmonės ir organizacijos vis daugiau tampa priklausomos viena nuo kitos ir užsienio partnerių verslo, socialinėse, ekonominėse bei aplinkosaugos srityse. Šiomis sąlygomis labai naudinga pasinaudoti tarptautiniais standartais, nes jie padeda vienodai suprasti ir suderinti daugelį kriterijų. Lietuvoje pastaraisiais metais didžiausio populiarumo sulaukė tarptautiniai standartai ISO 9000:2000 (kokybė) ir ISO 14000 (aplinkosauga). Lietuvos gamybiniame, paslaugų ir viešajame sektoriuose jau yra apie 750 organizacijų, įdiegusių kokybės vadybos sistemas pagal ISO 9001:2000 standartą, ir apie 140 organizacijų, įdiegusių aplinkos vadybos sistemas pagal ISO 14001 standartą. ISO 9000:2000 standartai reikalauja esminių organizacijos požiūrių į vadybą pokyčių. Vadybos sistemos turi padėti kurti pridedamąją organizacijos vertę. Standartuose išreikštas požiūris, kad organizacijos tikslai turi būti pasiekiami efektyviai ir rezultatyviai valdant procesus ir jų sąveiką, iš esmės keičia auditų atlikimo būdą, nes auditoriai yra atsakingi už teisingą standartų nuostatų traktavimą ir įgyvendinimą. Auditoriai turi išmokti naujos audito atlikimo technikos, kuri leistų auditoriams nustatyti, ar organizacija efektyviai valdo procesus ir pasiekia užsibrėžtų tikslų. Tai nėra lengvas uždavinys ir susiduriama su nemažais sunkumais. Straipsnyje nagrinėjamas šių sunkumų pobūdis ir pateikiami kai kurie jų įveikimo būdai, analizuojama audito metodologija, tinkamo klausimyno sudarymas bei audito atlikimo technika, kaip to reikalauja ISO 9000:2000 standartų kokybės vadybos principai.

O artigo analisa a aplicação do método AHP, em conjunto com o anexo A da ISO 9004:2000, para avaliaro desempenho de duas organizações industriais, cer tificadas pela norma ISO 9001:2000, frente aos requisitos específicos dos sistemas de gestão da qualidade, ambiental, da gestão de segurança e saúde ocupacional. As organizações avaliadas foram uma empresa estatal do setor de ciência e tecnologia que atua na área nuclear e uma empresa dosetor privado que atua na área automotiva e ferroviária. Foi utilizado o software livre Web-Hipre versão 1.22 da Helsinki University of Technology da Finlândia. Os resultados apresentados demonstraram que o AHP em conjunto como anexo A da ISO 9004:2000 é adequado para avaliar desempenho organizacional. As duas organizações apresentaram níveis de desempenho similares.

La interrelación académica entre los niveles educativos es una cuestión de calidad poco abordada por los diferentes programas y proyectos emprendidos en los países de Latinoamérica, entre ellos México, siendo éste tema de gran relevancia ya que los resultados son importantes para determinar si lo estimado académicamente por un nivel, es pertinente para el siguiente y si cuenta con una secuencia de criterios de formación para el estudiante (curricular, docentes, organización escolar, métodos pedagógicos etc.). La interrelación académica entre los niveles educativos debe determinar una cadena de eficiencia, detectando con oportunidad las áreas de mejora que deberán ser atendidas y solucionadas, lo cual ayuda a elevar los índices de eficiencia terminal así como los de transición. Creando la cadena en mención es factible permitir el incremento en el tránsito de alumnos de un nivel a otro en mejores condiciones que las actuales, problema acentuado en México en los niveles de secundaria a bachillerato y de éste a la educación superior.

The decree No. 20, 2003 about National Education System Section 50 article 3 conceded that the central and local government should conduct at least one education unit to all education levels projected to meet international standard. One of the efforts to reach education with either national or international standard is by the implementation of quality management ISO. One of the characteristics of education institution with international standard is the implementation of management ISO 9001:2000. This article will deal with the implementation of management ISO 9001:2000 in education institution. The implementation of this standard requires quality control unit that plays the role as internal audit institution. Therefore it can foster the realization of Islamic education institution that meets international standard. </p><p class="Bodytext20"> </p><p class="Bodytext20">Perkembangan sains, teknologi dan perubahan cepat dalam kehidupan ini baru-baru ini menjadi fenomena yang tak terelakkan. Lembaga pendidikan sebagai lembaga sosial terbuka yang dianggap sebagai agen perubahan dituntut untuk merespon perubahan ini. Keputusan No. 20, 2003 tentang Sistem Pendidikan Nasional Bagian 50 pasal 3 mengakui bahwa pemerintah pusat dan daerah harus melakukan setidaknya satu unit pendidikan ke semua tingkat pendidikan yang diproyeksikan untuk memenuhi standar internasional. Salah satu upaya untuk mencapai pendidikan dengan standar nasional maupun internasional adalah dengan penerapan ISO manajemen mutu. Salah satu ciri lembaga pendidikan dengan standar internasional adalah penerapan manajemen ISO 9001: 2000. Artikel ini membahas penerapan manajemen ISO 9001: 2000 di lembaga pendidikan. Implementasi standar ini membutuhkan unit kontrol kualitas yang berperan sebagai lembaga audit internal. The purpose of this research is to know how big the role of ISO 9001:2000 to a company that has been applied using cost-based approach to six sigma quality. ISO 9001:2000 is a standard on quality management. With the implementation of ISO 9001:2000 is to determine its effect on fee levels of quality. Where quality costs are the costs accrued or incurred to prevent and improve the quality of which occur as a result of not reaching the specifications of products or services that have been set. The analytical tool used in Six Sigma approach is the number of defects each year in each production department so it can know which department has the largest number of product failure as compared with total production in which the department will be the object of research. Besides, the cost of the quality of the department which has the largest defects will be analyzed to determine the total effectiveness of the department. The results of this study is the successful application of ISO 9001:2000 at PT Honda Precision Parts Manufacturing measured using six sigma where sigma approach in the year 2004-2009 has increased. As for the cost of quality is itself an increase in the cost of prevention and appraisal costs. This shows an improvement in terms of quality has been going well. Based on the above information, it can be concluded that the increase in sigma and increased costs of prevention and appraisal costs are not separated from the role of ISO 9001:2000 which has been applied. It is evident that any improvements made as specified in ISO 9001:2000 concept will cause a rise in the cost of some components in the calculation of quality costs, but improvements are made will affect the production of goods falling NG or defect that ultimately reduce overall quality costs.

The study aims to identify, analyze, and test the effect of managerial skills of school principals to teachers’ work discipline, the effect of the implementation of ISO 9001: 2008 to the teacher work disicipline, and the influence of the principal managerial ability to imlementasi policy quality ISO 9001: 2008. The study used survey methods, with path analysis techniques. Population of 156 teachers, sample 112 teachers. Data were collected through questionnaires, scale Likert. The results showed that: 1) There is a direct positive effect managerial skills of school principals to discipline teachers’ work, with the coefficient correlation 0,897, determination of the coefficient of 0,805; 2) There is a direct positive effect of ISO 9001: 2008 to the discipline teacher work, with the coefficient correlation 0,307, determination of the coefficient of 0,095; 3) There is a direct positive effect managerial skills of school principals to ISO 9001: 2008, with the coefficient correlation 0,340, determination of the coefficient of 0,116. In conclusion, the influence of managerial ability of the principal and the implementation of ISO 9001:2008 against disciplined teachers work has a fairly high level of significance.

Murni Cahaya Pratama program showed that the Internal Audit Quality is in accordance with plans and procedures. Since 1987, when first certification issuing, ISO has been considered as the leader of development of business standardization process and numbe r of certifications speedy grows in all over the planet. In this article, quantitative analysis, we displays the diffusion of ISO certifications in European countries among the recording data for seven common models of ISO (ISO 9001, 13485, 14001, 16949, 2 2000, 27001, 50001) in the European countries in the past eight years 2007 -2014. Italy leads European countries with 26% from total number of certificates, and ISO 90001 ISO 9001 comprises 78% from the total number of certificate in this period. Forecast o f new certifications growth, number of certifications will issue in the future for all ISO models (after eight years) increasable and will not reach the saturation level in general. In qualitative analysis, we use statistical analysis of collected data to provide the effect of the number of certificates on the economic development for each country (relationship between number of certificates, number of inhabitant, and gross domestic product GDP).

Scientists say ISO 9001 provides ESG standards with an adequate system to support effective quality improvement. It is positive that the international ISO standard and ESG provisions for the establishment of a quality assurance system in higher education are in the mix. The ISO 21001 series "Educational Organizations –Management Systems for Educational Organizations" provides a methodological component and a typical industry template from the beginning of monitoring to the release of results, including preparatory work on assessment planning, questionnaire development, questionnaires, results processing, problem determination and options, further monitoring of performance. In higher education, ISO 21001 may not be seen as a competitor or replacement for ESG, but as an additional tool that can help educational organizations demonstrate their commitment to effective educational management practices.

Prinsip kepemimpinan diterapkan melalui motivasi, rapat tinjauan manajemen secara rutin. Prinsip keterelibatan semua diterapkan dengan memberi kesempatan petugas poli umum dalam pengambilan keputusan serta mengikuti pendidikan dan pelatihan. Prinsip pendekatan proses mengacu pada hasil pencapaian sasaran mutu poli umum yang ditetapkan. Prinsip pendekatan sistem manajemen dalam bentuk penetapan prosedur mutu di poli umum. Prinsip perbaikan terus menerus diterapkan berdasarkan hasil survei dan temuan yang tidak sesuai. Prinsip pengambilan keputusan berdasarkan fakta mengacu hasil survey kepuasan pelanggan, audit internal dan eksternal, sehingga dihasilkan keputusan akurat. Methods used in this study is qualitative through document analysis, in-depth interview and observation. Client focus principles was applied through client satisfaction survey and routine client meeting. Leadership principle was applied through motivational support and routine management review meeting. Involvement principle was applied by providing opportunity for all personnel in decision making and attending further education and training. Process approach principle was applied by referring to quality output accomplishment. Systemic approach principle was applied by determination of quality management procedure. Continuous improvement principle was applied through revision based on survey results and findings. Fact-based decision making principle was applied through utilisation of survey and audit (both internal and external) results in the decision making process to produce accurate decisions. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan implementasi manajemen mutu ISO 9001: 2000 pada mutu kinerja sekolah yang meliputi komponen input, proses, dan produk serta partisipasi orang tua siswa dalam pelaksanaan program-program sekolah di SMKN 1 Kalasan. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian studi kasus dengan subjek penelitian seluruh guru, karyawan, siswa dan orang tua siswa SMKN 1 Kalasan. Sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah guru dan karyawan SMKN 1 Kalasan yang telah mengabdi kurang lebih tiga tahun yang terdiri atas 84 guru dan 29 karyawan, dan orang tua/wali dan siswa yang duduk di kelas XII saat penelitian berlangsung terdiri atas 175 orang tua dan 312 siswa. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan dalam penelitian adalah deskriptif. Data dikumpulkan melalui kuesioner, wawancara, observasi, dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan penilaian guru, karyawan, orang tua dan siswa terhadap mutu kinerja komponen input di SMKN 1 Kalasan sangat baik (63,19%), komponen proses sudah baik (50,35%), komponen produk sangat baik (73,61%) dan partisipasi orang tua sangat baik (61,14%). Berdasarkan hasil ini, peneliti menyarankan bagi pihak SMKN 1 Kalasan untuk tetap melakukan perbaikan dalam implementasi Sistem Manajemen Mutu ISO 9001: 2000 agar mutu kinerja sekolah dapat ditingkatkan.
