Abstract:
Interactions in the Ba2+–WO42––H+–H2O system, that was acidified to the molar ratio (acidity) Z=(H+)/(WO42–)=1.00, in the range of Z=0.60–2.00 at 2980.1 K with NaNO3 as the background electrolyte (I=0.1–0.3 mol•l–1), were studied by the methods of pH-potentiometry, mathematical modeling and conductometry. Logarithms of concentration constants of equilibrium were calculated by Newton's method. Previously unknown logarithms of thermodynamic constants and Gibbs energies of formation reactions for some ion pairs (BaOH+,[W12O40(OH)2]10–; Ba2+,[W12O40(OH)2]10–; Ba2+,H2[W12O40(OH)2]8–; Ba2+,H3[W12

Abstract:
Abstract We report identification and preliminary characterization of novel proteinaceous anticoagulants from two marine crustacea, Elthusa vulgaris and Phrixocephalus cincinnatus. We also propose naming them Occipodins in honor of the college where this undergraduate research has been initiated. The organisms were collected at 25-125 meters depth off the coast of Los Angeles. Both organisms are hematophagous arthropods that anchor onto their host species and induce the extravasation of host blood into their digestive organs. Female P. cincinnatus display host specificity infecting the eyes of

Abstract:
The method of pH-potentiometric titration and mathematical simulation were used to study the equilibrium processes in aqueous solutions of the WO42––CH3COOH–H2O system in the acidity range Z=(CH3COOH)/(Na2WO4)=0.8–1.7 at СW=0.01 mol L–1 and T=2980.1 K, a constant ionic strength being maintained by sodium nitrate as a background electrolyte ((NaNO3)=0.10 mol L–1). We developed the models of polyoxotungstate anions formation and the equilibrium transformation processes, which adequately describe experimental pH vs. Z dependences. It was found that acetic acid using to create the solution aci
