Abstract The imperial charter on behalf of the Monastery of Panagia Soumela, currently at the Ayasofya Müzesi (no. 12901) in Istanbul, long considered a mere copy, is shown to be an original chrysobullos logos issued by the imperial chancery of Alexios III Megas Komnenos in 1364.

The historical progress of Hagia Sophia encompasses four different periods. Dating back to 360 AD, this unique structure was the largest church built in Istanbul during the Roman Period. In the second period, Fatih Sultan Mehmet conquered Istanbul in 1453 and personally dedicated Hagia Sophia to his foundation as a mosque. In the third period, upon the founding of the modern Republic of Turkey, Hagia Sophia was transformed into the Museum in 1934. The Kitab al-Ḥikāyāt al-‘Ajība wa-l-Akhbār al-Gharība (Book of Amazing Stories and Rare News) is an anonymous work written in Arabic that collects forty-two stories which are similar to those found included in compendia of popular Arab literature of the Middle Ages, such as The Thousand and One Nights. This article is an introduction to its study, and it includes the editions and the translations made on this interesting book as well as its narrative structure and content, according to the manuscript Istanbul Ayasofya Müzesi no.3397, edited by Hans Wehr and Alexander von Bulmerincq in 1956.

The relationship between location and context, design, and usage gains importance in architectural structures. The interrelated patterns of different syntactic and semantic layers compose the built space especially museums or exhibition spaces. The museum spaces have a considerable part of everyday life in terms of social interaction. The accessibility, visibility, and circularity of the museum spaces are affecting the integration of the human-space activity. The museums by the sea are recognized with the silhouette of the city. These museums are accessible from the seaway and overland routes.
