Full textThis work describes the logic and the processes of employees’contributions on social media in order to analyze the relationships and issues between their own numerical presence and that of their company. Our thesis is based on a multidisciplinary framework: we mobilized the the gift theory as well as the theories of social and symbolic capital in order to understand contribution logic, the notions of interaction order and contribution genres in order to understand the contribution process and, finally, the concepts of numerical presence and governmentality in order to address the contribution issues. Our research methodology adopts an interpretativist approach, based on three complementary studies: an exploratory study, six case studies and a Delphi study. The results show that employees’ contribution to social media is primarily based on a logic of legitimizing the "figure of the contributor", the contribution process materialized in a repertoire of "contributions genres" and that "digital traces" define the challenges of the numerical presence of employees and that of their company

Full textThe University of Arizona Cooperative Extension SNAP-Ed program contributes to the Arizona economy by bringing funds from outside the state and utilizing them to encourage healthy eating and active living for people in low-income households. Purchases made for conducting this work generate a ripple of economic activity in other Arizona industries. Economists call these the indirect and induced multiplier effects. This report summarizes the total economic contribution of SNAP-Ed spending, including multiplier effects, on the Arizona economy for the years 2011 and 2012.

Full textCreated in organizations to solve problems, provide services or create products, teams are seen as mechanisms that enable organizations to efficiently respond to customers demands. When studying team work one observes that at the same time that members are working to a common purpose and objective, each member fosters the achievement of these through their individual contributions. However, just as too much individuality creates problems, so does too much coesion. In this sense, the importance of achieving a balance, as well as an interrelation between individual contribution and collective work is crucial to enhance team performance.
Wiles, Gregory. "Why Are There Any Public Defined Contribution Plans?" Thesis, Boston College, 2006. http://hdl.handle.net/2345/413.
Full textRetirement plans for state employees have over $2 trillion in assets, a significant portion of the U.S. retirement market. In the last 10 years, seven states have transitioned their employee retirement plans from traditional annuity-providing defined benefit pensions to individual account-style defined contribution plans. While private-sector employers save money in transitioning to a defined contribution plan, states actually lose money when switching. Why state governments choose to sponsor retirement plans that cost both the state and its employees money is the central question of this study. Several financial and demographic variables are considered; the only variable that cannot be ruled out is political ideology. The probit panel regression finds that states with Republican-controlled governments are far more likely to switch to a defined contribution plan than states with mixed or Democrat-controlled governments. This conclusion illuminates the central importance of unions in the political process of public plan decision-making and reveals the importance of potential economics losses that result from sponsoring defined contribution plans

Whereas the particular average is solely at the charge of the party concerned, the general average requires contribution from all the parties involved in the sea voyage. When a party is entitled to claim contribution ? how to apportion the expenses incurred in respect of a general average act ? these two questions have been discussed in the course of this work

Full textFor the past few years the evolutionary computation domain has developed more and more rapidly. Differential Evolution (DE) is one of its representatives. Originally proposed for continuous unconstraint optimization, it has been enlarged into both mixed optimization and handling nonlinear constraints. Since then, DE becomes a leading method for a huge number of real problems. The main objective of this thesis was to propose an exhaustive analysis of this method : scientifically, to situate it with respect to the more classical concurrent methods and, technically, to improve its convergence rate as well as to increase its capacity to find the global optimum. For this purpose, we emphasize in the algorithm three hierarchical levels of improvement. At the first level, the individual behaviour has been investigated. A universal formula of the individual's variation is elaborated : it permits to accomplish the creation of a great number of strategies of exploration and exploitation of the search space. A generalization of the algorithm is realized by introducing transversal DE. At the second level, the entire population has been considered. In order to accelerate the convergence, the energetic selection principle has been developed and tested. This principle permits to retain the current best individuals. An interaction of the main algorithm with an external regression method has been realized in order to complete the selection by the most interesting individuals and to increase in fine the convergence rate. Concretely, the third level implements the interaction between DE and Support Vector Machine

Full textThe care is a particular form of knowledge. It differs from the human sciences in that it is not derived from philosophy. Knowledge of care is also separate from medicine in that it relies on a humanistic paradigm rather than on biology. Born of an empiric practice, however, care has developed a specific engineering. The lack of infrastructure pose theoretical difficulties for the development of knowledge and interpretation of the clinic. The research project is to build a speculative and theoretical for care from a philosophical reading of it, this from an approach that takes care as a phenomenon and in different historical situations of care. The analysis allows a description in which the care varies depending on the situation and to identify elements of its essence, then describe the construction and operation. The development of specific concepts, such as general care, care first, the care professional can specify how the task is being built. It is therefore possible to reflect the care process as a vehicle for the preservation and development of the person care rather than palliative for the disease or disability. I will be able to account for apparent contradictions and peculiarities of the device as caring relationship. At last the search led to laying the groundwork for developing an ethic of care and proposes a way of renewing the research carefully
