Abstract. The effect of short-term exposure to the insulin-like growth factors (IGF-I and IGF-II) on testosterone production by rat testicular interstitial cells in primary culture has been examined. Both peptides, when present during a 1-h pre-incubation period, increased human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG)-stimulated testosterone release over the following 16-h period. The effect of exposure to IGFs was most marked on maximally hCG-stimulated testosterone release. Maximal stimulation following IGF exposure was 80– 85% above that seen without IGFs, and the IGF effect was half-maximal at 1.5–2

New data on the process of germination of dill seeds of the first and second orders after short-term heat stress (40 ° C) have been obtained. Seed germination was carried out in a thermostat. Swollen seeds (four repetitions of 100 seeds) were exposed to a temperature of 40 ° C in accordance with the scheme of the experiment: 0 (control); 1; 2; 3; 4 and 5 days. After incubation, the seeds were transferred to standard (t = 20 ° C) conditions and germinated in Petri dishes on filter paper with-out access to light for 21 days. Methods of analysis of seed germination in dynamics are used. Log-logis

However, there is a lack of research data on tetanus patients and their clinical outcomes, especially in adult tetanus patients in Indonesia. This study aims to determine the factors that influence the outcome of tetanus patients. Method: A cross-sectional study was performed from May to June 2021 at Dr. Soedono Madiun General Hospital. Subjects were recruited by total sampling. The data that will be taken in this study are gender, age, immunization history, incubation peri

The application of biochar as an additive to enhance the anaerobic digestion (AD) of biomass has been extensively studied from various perspectives. This study reported, for the first time, the influence of biochar incubation in the inoculum on the anaerobic fermentation of glucose in a batch-type reactor over 20 days. Three groups of inoculum with the same characteristics were pre-mixed once with biochar for different durations: 21 days (D21), 10 days (D10), and 0 days (D0). The BC was mixed in the inoculum at a concentration of 8.0 g/L. The proportion of the inoculum and substrate was adjust

The COVID-19 infection characteristics include a long incubation period, strong infectivity, and high fatality rate, and it negatively affects human health and social development. COVID-19 has become a common problem in the global medical and health system. It is essentially an acute self-limiting disease. Introduction Management of the perianal fistula has been always a challenge for colorectal surgeons especially when the external sphincter is involved. Several minimally invasive procedures emerged as an alternative to the traditional surgical approach as fibrin glue injection, ligation of the intershpincteric track (LIFT) and injection of platelet-rich plasma (PRP). Recently, the use of diode laser in proctology has emerged as an alternative to conventional surgical treatment. Obtaining a high production and reproduction performance in Japanese quail requires some collective factors work at it's best. Behavioral factors are the most factors control bird to life and its welfare. Stocking density (space allowed for bird to live) even in cages or floor pens , mating ratio (male to female ratio) in the flock and type of housing are some of the most important elements of the managerial factor that control the production and reproduction performance of quail breeding flock. SummaryThe Bermuda Petrel Pterodroma cahow was thought to have become extinct early in the 17th century due to a combination of hunting by human colonists and predation by introduced rats, cats, dogs and pigs. However, single individuals were found on four occasions during the first half of the 20th century, and in 1951 a small population was discovered breeding on several rocky islets in north-east Bermuda. Recovery actions began in 1962 when the population numbered just 18 pairs, dispersed among five small islets. Although rats extirpated one of these five colonies in 1967, the population ha

The temporal and spectral characteristics of a detonating crystalline sample of tetramethyl dioxetane (TMDX) are studied after multiphoton excitation with single laser shots from a CO2 TEA laser at 10.25 μm. Time-dependent studies indicate that the emission consists of two components, which contribute almost equally to the total number of emitted photons. A fast emission rises after the laser pulse with an incubation period of ~1 μs and decays in ~500 ns. A slow component appears at a delay of ~10 μs and has a lifetime of ~100 μs.
