Abstract:
This study considers whether or not Italian Muslims are deemed a threat by Italian society. It attempts to verify the major lines of conflict in the relationship between Islam and Italian society, which is by tradition culturally connected to Catholicism. The study investigates different patterns of relationship between Catholic Italians and Muslim Italians in different Italian regions based on the national survey “La nuova religiosità in Italia” [New religiosity in Italy] (2007). By means of research data the authors detect regions with a high potential for conflict and regions where there is greater acceptance of Islam as well as better bases for societal cohesion and cooperation.

Sisters of Querelle. Al-Andalus Women Poets, Trobairitz and Italian Women Poets in the 13th and 14th Centuries Abstract: The debate on the Querelle des Femmes during the 16th and 17th centuries in Italy is based on different male and female authors’ dissertations. This Querelle des Femmes can be traced back to Italian women poets in the 13th and 14th centuries. This paper analyses some topics dealt with by these Italian women poets and studies the features they share with preceding al-Andalusian women poets and trobairitz

In this article, the three authors (two learners of Italian at the A2 level, and one Italian instructor) review six diverse resources for self-directed learning of Italian. These resources are: two online courses (Busuu and EdX), a podcast, a Netflix extension, a book, and an AI tool. The article suggests how such resources can be used by learners of Italian outside the classroom as part of an autonomous learning plan.

Abstract:
The authors examine the social grounds for the formation of a positive image of Russia in the public opinion of Italy. The purpose of the study is to measure how the attitude of the Italians towards Russia has changed after 2022. The research is based on a secondary analysis of the representative results of sociological surveys of EU citizens and also on the authors’ analysis of political public discourse, where the source was the Italian media and the statements of political actors. The stability of the positive image of Russia in Italian public opinion is determined by the stable economic, political and cultural ties between Italy and Russia. The results of the discourse analysis of an extensive database of documents - election programs, materials from the leading social and political media in Italy and statements by Italian politicians - demonstrated a high level of interest of members of the Italian political elite in maintaining stable relations with Russia in various fields. They are representatives of the Italian populist parties among opinion makers and leaders, who influence the formation of a positive image of Russia. The attitude towards the Russian Federation in Italian public opinion has remained positive for a long period of time. The special military operation has significantly changed the perception of Russia, but the Italians still remain its sympathizers compared to citizens of other EU countries.

Abstract:
In this paper, we will examine the connection between the Second World War and Italian-Canadian literature. Many early works from this literature had their roots in the devastation of war in Italy and the resulting mass migration of thousands of Italians to Canada in the 1950s and 1960s. After writing about the initial immigrant experience, most Italian-Canadian authors moved on to other topics and themes. Some wanted to become more Canadian and less Italian in orientation. In later years, some of these authors returned to the topic of the war and its long-term effects on their lives. We will begin our examination by looking at some examples of how war is treated in early works and then we will consider the phenomenon of how the war is revisited in later works.

Abstract:
The article is devoted to the functioning of personal and deictic pronouns in comedies of Italian authors of the 16th century. It is believed that main changes in comparison with the italiano standard that have occurred at the present stage of language development concern the system of pronouns. However, when analyzing comedies of natives of the central, northern and southern regions, phenomena characteristic of the current stage of the development of the Italian language and considered innovative were found: the use of pronouns lui, lei and loro in the syntactic functions of the subject; double dative; simplification of the threepart system of demonstrative pronouns; the spread of truncated forms sto and sta and some others. The revealed contexts give reason to think that the Italian language at present time does not develop unprecedented phenomena, but rather undergoes a process of restandardization, in which oral and written speech converge and features that were previously characteristic exclusively of informal communication are normalized. The dialect has a substrate effect on the Italian language not only in synchrony, but also in diachrony.

The use of the article is often connected with difficulties for those people who study the Italian language, especially if it is absent in their native language. It is necessary to study the article comprehensively to understand its functioning better. For example, it is important to considerate the historical aspect: its formation, as well as the principles and contexts of its using during early stages of development. That's why the subject of the study is the functioning of the definite, indefinite and partitive article in the texts of comedies written by Italian authors of the 16th century. Particular attention is paid to the use of the partitive article in prepositional constructions because this structure, according to F. Sabatini, is considered an innovative trend in the modern Italian language of informal communication. The scientific novelty is in the material chosen for this research. Previously, Italian comedies were not used as a source of value for obtaining new knowledge about the language, in particular, the aspect concerning the functioning of the article. It is important that their texts imitate informal everyday communication, and therefore serve as valuable material for analyzing the language of the 16th century. The examples given in this research give reason to believe that the use of the partitive article with prepositions is not an innovation of italiano neostandard. Thus, at the present moment, the Italian language does not develop innovative structures, but rather undergoes a process of restandartization.

Abstract:
This paper discusses the current language situation among the Italian minority in Slovenian Primorje in Koper. During the fi eld research conducted by the authors’ team, narratives in Italian were recorded from informants. Using discursive and structural-typological methods of analysis, the authors reveal that the linguistic reality of modern Koper is perceived as constantly changing, and the Italian spontaneous speech of respondents is intertwined with borrowings from the surrounding South Slavic languages. The modern language situation is the result of historical changes in the Istria region during the twentieth century. In addition to insertions and quotations in Slovenian, items from the Croatian language are found, refl ecting the linguistic situation of the Yugoslav period and the border position of the Slovenian Primorje. Special attention is paid to analysis of the language competence of Italians in the Slovenian language, among representatives of both the older and younger generations of students. In the Slovene language of Italians, a number of features peculiar to Slavic dialects in Italy are found, which allows us to discuss the same linguistic factors. It is possible to reconstruct the language competence of older people only partially on the basis of indirect evidence. There is a discrepancy between the rights guaranteed under the law (the use of the Italian language) and the linguistic reality faced by informants, which may be the result of both a decline in the prestige of Italian and of the small number of the Italian diaspora, part of which is subject to language assimilation, including as a result of mixed marriages. The paper also discusses the role of the media and the linguistic landscape in the region.

Abstract:
Summary Until the late 18th century, authors of vernacular grammars often adopted the categories of Latin grammar to describe these languages. However, by adapting the Latin system to English, German or Italian, grammarians could succeed only in part, because these languages work in different ways. In the present paper, the author discusses the solutions that Karl Philipp Moritz (1756–1793) proposes in his Englische and Italiänische Sprachlehre für die Deutschen, textbooks for German learners. The author analyses to what extent Moritz’s grammar descriptions were influenced by the Latin model as well as by the traditions of English and Italian grammar writing that he encountered in his sources. It will be demonstrated that he translated extensively from the works of other authors: For his English textbook (Moritz 1784), he mainly used James Greenwood’s (1683?–1737) The Royal English Grammar (1737), and for Italian (Moritz 1791), he profited especially from Benedetto Rogacci’s (1646–1719) Pratica, e compendiosa istruzione circa l’uso emendato, ed elegante della Lingua Italiana (1711).

Abstract:
Based on the case of Alojz Gradnik (1882–1967), this article deals with previously unresearched Slovene-Friulian-Italian literary connections that occurred during the last years of the Austro-Hungarian Empire and the first years after WWI along the border of today’s Slovenia (Goriška Brda) and Italy (the region of Friuli-Venezia Giulia: the Provinces of Gorizia, Udine and Trieste). The article highlights the parallels in motifs, themes, ideas and form, as well as the connections between Alojz Gradnik and select Friulian and Italian authors from this region. These links are the consequence of living in a joint cultural space and Gradnik’s Friulian family ties, especially with his cousin Maria Samer. The research uncovers certain differences in motifs, themes and ideas stemming from different national identities. Gradnik’s poetry is closest to Friulian lyrical poetry in their descriptions and experiences of a rural setting, predominantly the deep bond felt between the farming people and native land coupled with their terrible social strife. Gradnik and his contemporary Friulian authors also coincide in works with a nationalist theme – on the threshold of WWI both Slovene and Friulian authors infused their work with their personal vision for the future of their own community. They shared a negative literary depiction of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, and the wish to secure a better economic future, to protect and solidify their cultural heritage. Gradnik’s poetry and that of the contemporary Italian (irredentist) authors share a similar literary technique that depicted the national identities of today’s border between Italy and Slovenia; they were ideologically opposed however: while the Italians depicted the Italian view of the region, Gradnik highlights the presence of a Slavic element within the region.

The paper examines the presentation of the life and works of Peter II Petrović Njegoš in Italian travelogues published on the occasion of the royal wedding which united the dynasties of Savoy and Petrović in 1896. At that time, a large quantity of travelogues about Montenegro were published in Italian, surpassing the number of those that had been published over the previous two centuries. These books offer rich material for studying the ways in which important figures in Montenegrin history and culture, such as Njegoš, were presented to an Italian readership, as well as for determining the function that these representations had. A thematic approach to these books enables an insight into the discourse that these authors adhered to in their effort to introduce the Italians to one of the famous ancestors of their future queen.

ABSTRACT: Internationalization is assuming an increasingly important role in education, since it is posed as an essential process and a challenge for universities. However, for universities to successfully perform this action, they need to be trained for this. From this requirement arises the development of projects and agreements that aim at the teaching-learning of foreign languages contemplated in the internationalization edicts, see Capes PrInt, and partnerships with international segments, see Memorandum of Understanding between the Italian Embassy and Brazilian universities participating of the Rede Andifes Idiomas Sem Fronteiras. In addition, the growing demand for calls and research grants in Italian universities has given rise in the Rede Andifes IsF of the Federal University of Santa Maria (UFSM) and Federal University of Viçosa (UFV) to the desire to expand the action and impact on the academic environment, and considering the current context and the possibilities of distance learning, the course Preparazione agli esami di competenza linguistica was developed. In this article, in addition to reporting the experience from the structuring of the course and its applicability, we will share the experiences in the development of the activities to implement the valutazione a distanza, the path taken and the challenges encountered, which provided the authors with a great learning experience, reinforcing how much this type of course and the commitment of the teachers can contribute to the expansion of the Rede Andifes IsF and the internationalization process between Brazilian and Italian universities. Keywords: Italian language teaching/learning. Abstract:
On the pages of the journal Stvaranje, one of the most important messengers of culture in Montenegro and Yugoslavia after the Second World War, the Italian literary and cultural reality left a unique mark, to which, as authors of numerous Italian articles, Croatian literary critics and translators made an exceptional contribution. This specific permeation is due, among other things, to the vicinity of one Adriatic coast to another, which resulted in a strong intercultural exchange, especially in those parts of the former Yugoslavia, besides Montenegro and Slovenia, it was the case with Croatia, which is geographically, historically and commercially very close to Italy. Considering this, detecting the presence and treatment of Italian contributions signed by Croatian cultural representatives contributes to the reconstruction and revaluation of literary life in this area in the post-war period, illuminating not so known part of Yugoslav cultural history. From the total of 25 articles prepared by Croatian literary critics and translators in the journal Stvaranje during the specified period, which were part of a interpretive, demonstrative or receptive review of the current Italian literary and cultural scene, is not read one-way interest in Italian literature, language and art in the narrowest, national domain but also the search for the most diverse segments of Italian culture in the Yugoslav area.

Abstract:
It is possible to say that Giro d’Italia, the road cycling race through Italy, has had a huge popularity mainly, but not exclusively, among the Italians since it was held for the first time in 1909. Some authors even mention, Giro d’Italia did for the formation of the common Italian identity more than the political representatives of the state, which was born in 1861. The fact that the 100th edition of the race took place in 2017 is the proof of its popularity. In the context of this anniversary, its organizers wanted to prepare the wholly Italian race where it would be clearly observed the legacy of the Italian history and of the local cycling, including the presentation of the most famous cyclists from Italy in the history. The aim of this article is to analyse the route of Giro d’Italia 2017 and its presentation as a space that could help to Italians to recognize their Italian identity, even if the local cyclists were not as successful during the 100th edition of the race as the organizers would have wished. Also I would like to mention that in the second decade of the 21st century this cycling race is definitely a popular sporting event all around the world. Not only it has a potential to present itself to the foreign public, but also to promote whole Italy in the most positive way. I think, it is certainly possible to use Giro d’Italia as a tool of the Italian sports diplomacy.

The article is devoted to identifying the causes of anti-religious sentiments in Italy at the turn of the 18–19th centuries. The authors point to the reasons for the apologetic writings of Italian theologians. Their views had a very beneficial effect on the mental and in particular on the religious movement in Italy. Special attention is paid to the analysis of the situation in Italy in the 18–19th centuries. Based on this analysis, the authors conclude that because of the constant confrontation with the Italian government for power and their interests, apologists for Christianity, who belonged to the clergy of the Catholic Church, caused hostility towards the Catholic Church among ordinary Italians. In the course of the study, the idea of a significant impact of this situation on the spread of anti-Christian ideas in Italy at the turn of the 18–19th centuries was substantiated. And the national liberation movement for the unification of Italy, which was gaining momentum at that time, opened up a free field for the dissemination of various anti-church and atheistic teachings.

While Italian colonialism in Africa is an aspect of Italy’s history that has started to receive academic attention in the last three decades, it remains outside the collective memory of many Italians. In opposition to this lack of mainstream cultural awareness, a proliferation of literary works has been produced, predominantly by female writers with origins in Italy’s former colonies in East Africa, filling in the historical omissions and, importantly, providing a transnational voice to gendered experiences of colonial trauma. Many of these authors foreground the female corporeal experience of colonialism and its legacy. My PhD thesis explores the representation of gendered colonial trauma and its intergenerational transmission through the female body. I examine a range of literary texts by women writers with origins in Somalia and Ethiopia, dating from 2007 to the present. Their work ranges across contexts and languages (Italian and English), yet each narrates colonial history in a highly embodied way, providing an alternative discourse to the nostalgic, mythologising historiography offered by mainstream Italian literature from the post-war period to the present.

This essay suggests that the ultraminor can function as a paradigm to examine literature that emphasizes the minority status of the language in which it is composed. Engaging with Deleuze and Guattari’s definition of minor literature and with Pascale Casanova and Lawrence Venuti’s reflections on the role of translation in the shaping of world literature, it develops a comparison between two rewritings of Shakespeare into Italian dialects: Eduardo De Filippo’s translation of The Tempest into Neapolitan and Luigi Meneghello’s translation of Hamlet into vicentino. The essay underlines how these endeavors represent translations into languages that, at the time of writing, are considered by their authors in decline and doomed to extinction, and argues that both authors use translation to emphasize the historical memory of their native idioms. Both De Filippo and Meneghello, in fact, set out to challenge the subordinate status of Neapolitan and vicentino by proving that dialects are apt to express great thought as well as philosophical, abstract, and theoretical concepts.

PurposeThe authors provide a novel interpretation of the relationship between skill demand and labour market concentration based on the training rationale.Design/methodology/approachThe authors use a novel data set on Italian online job vacancies during 2013–2018 to analyse the relationship between labour market concentration and employers' skill demand. The authors construct measures of market concentration and skill intensity in the local labour market. The authors regress the measures of skill demand on market concentration, controlling for sector, occupations and other features of the labour market. The authors also use the Hausman–Nevo instrument for market concentration.FindingsThe authors show that employers in a highly concentrated labour market demand competencies associated with the ability of workers to learn faster (e.g. social skills) rather than actual knowledge. They also require less experience but higher education. These results are consistent with the hypothesis that employers in more concentrated labour markets are more prone to train their employees. Instead of looking for workers who already have job-specific skills, they look for workers who can acquire them faster and efficiently. The authors provide a theoretical framework within which to analyse these aspects as well as providing a test for the relevant hypotheses.Practical implicationsIn addition to cross-countries differences in labour market regulations, the authors' findings suggest that policy authorities should consider the local labour market structure when studying workforce development programmes aimed at bridging the skill gap of displaced workers. Moreover, the authors show that market concentration can have relevant implications for human resource (HR) managers by affecting their recruitment behaviour through the demand for skills. In fact, concentrated markets tend to favour firms' collusion and anti-competitive behaviour that could strongly affect HR management practices.Originality/valueThe authors' paper innovates on the literature in a number of ways. First, the authors provide evidence of local labour market concentration in Italy. Second, the authors provide evidence of skill demand at the local level using a detailed skill taxonomy that goes beyond the classical distinction between high and low skills. Third, and most importantly, the authors provide evidence of the relationship between skill demand and labour market concentration. By analysing detailed skills and competencies, the authors take one step beyond understanding the features of labour demand in monopsonistic markets.

Abstract:
In the last decade, an increasing number of analyses of accounting history literature have been undertaken to classify historical research paths and to “map” the variety of approaches and issues of the discipline in different geographical settings so as to make international comparisons. The paper develops these topics in the Italian context by studying the development of accounting history research (AHR) in the last 15 years. Contributions by Italian authors have been published in international and national specialist journals as well as in more general accounting journals. Other papers have been presented and published in the proceedings of the biannual SISR (Società Italiana di Storia della Ragioneria) Congress and in the Congress celebrating the 500th anniversary of the publication of Pacioli's Summa held in Venice in 1994. The findings chart publication trends during the period 1990–2004 from a quantitative and qualitative perspective, based on different dimensions, the dynamic of change in Italian AHR, and its possible limitations. The paper is informed by an international perspective and causal interpretations are attempted.

Abstract:
Purpose In 2009, the Union of European Football Associations approved the Financial Fair Play (FFP) regulations. These regulations refer to the requirements of transparency and financial conditions for football clubs participating in European competitions. The purpose of this paper is to combine the managerial and the economic points-of-view in order to understand if Italian football clubs are ready to comply with the new FFP rules. Design/methodology/approach In the analysis, the authors focus on the main Italian football league, Serie A. Using business model analysis, the authors determine what the main profit determinants of football associations are, through panel data for 15 clubs from 2011-2013. The authors then try to match the statistical and managerial approach. Findings The results show that the key contributing factors to profits are on the costs side. In particular, the most relevant expenses are player wages. The core revenue for clubs comes from the net profit from player trading, while other income, such as TV rights, commercial and match-day proceeds, have no statistical significance for profit formation. Research limitations/implications The main limitation of the analysis is that the survey regarded only on Italian Championship. So it is deeply influenced by the competitive structure of the Italian league that is different from that of other European leagues. Therefore, the authors think that the future developments of this work could be the examination of another European Championship, for example, English Premier League, and the compared analysis of Italian league and other European one. Practical implications There is a close-link between costs and profitability, and especially between expenditure on players and the ability to close the financial year with a profit. Clubs must address the issue of player wages in order to follow a path of economic recovery towards profitability. Originality/value In the work the authors put together managerial point of view and economical one, in order to understand how FFP can impact on profitability of football clubs. The authors use an empirical econometrics model to test the hypothesis about business model of Italian Clubs.

In this manuscript, the authors empirically assess the impact of an increase in the wage per worker on the GDP per capita of the Italian regions. To achieve this research aim, the authors carry out a panel data regression analysis, relying on an identification strategy based on the standard Neoclassical model of economic growth. The authors’ results suggest that, on average, the output effect of an increase in the wage per worker is positive, with a substantial difference between the Northern and Center-Southern regions. The authors’ policy implication is that wage moderation does not represent a remedy to the economic stagnation that the Italian regions have been experiencing since the second half of the 1990s.

Abstract:
The article is an attempt to supplement the knowledge of Italians' ideas about Ottomans during the 15th and 16th centuries, using the preserved antique textiles of both cultures, as well as fabrics' mentions in written and visual sources. Modern technological research methods of ancient textiles make it possible to clarify their attributive data, which in turn contributes to more definite conclusions about artistic exchanges in the field of decoration of expensive textiles. Thus, for example, it turned out that two fabrics from the collection of the Khanenko Museum, which were considered Italian, are the work of Ottoman masters. If the structure of the Italian and Ottoman fabrics of the period under the study are quite different, visually – they are often almost identical. Despite the fact that the trade in Ottoman fabrics was not widespread in Italy during the 15th and 16th centuries, Italian painters and weavers still actively imitated the textile products of the Middle East. Written sources, especially epistolary and inventory, are also filled with references to Ottoman fabrics and "turkish-style" textiles. Since there were few authentic silks from West Asia in the secular space of Italian cities at the time, it is likely that citizens could even associate Ottoman culture with certain types of local textiles that looked like "Turkish". The number and peculiarities of their description in written sources suggest the Italians' enormous interest in Ottoman culture, "cautious concern" for the growing Ottoman Empire, and recognition of its dominance over many Asian peoples. All this took place in spite of the permanent wars between the Venetian Republic and the Ottomans. The entry into Italian fashion of fabrics "in the Turkish style" was lightning fast. However, local authors emphasized the antiquity of this fashion tradition, to some extent rooting the idea of kinship between the two cultures.

Abstract:
Purpose The issue of gender inequality in the Italian universities and academic context does not seem to be particularly debated and is really rare. Starting from this “lack of interest”, the paper aims to inquire into the “state-of-the-art” of existing inequality in the scientific and academic path of Italian female scholars and academia, answering the following research question: Is discrimination between women and men linked to the number of scientific contributions in periodicals and their presence within academic boards of scientific accounting associations and journals in Italy? Design/methodology/approach The methodology is primarily developed through a deductive analysis of the literature strands concerning gender accounting, accounting in academia and the role of women in universities and academia. Second, within the inductive perspective, the authors have chosen to inquire into the scientific publications of women on the oldest Italian journal in the accounting field – the Rivista Italiana di Ragioneria e di Economia Aziendale (RIREA). Subsequently, the position and career of women were analysed in academia investigating their presence and role within the boards of a sample of Italian journals and the main Italian accounting scientific associations Findings Accordingly, this paper concentrates on gender inequalities in university and academia in Italy and on eventual obstacles that get in the way of the existence of scientific contributions in journals and of career progress of those women who carry on scholarly work in accounting. Research limitations/implications The analysis confirms the need to open more space for women at the summits of political, economic and cultural institutions, including accounting academia and scientific journals. The paper has some limitations concerning the consideration of only Italian journals and academic associations. Then, we will develop the analysis in comparative terms, as attention will be addressed on the participation in scientific committees and boards of some of the major international scientific associations of accounting. Moreover, we will consider the narrative approach describing the stories of Italian women and accounting scholars to carefully investigate the reasons for this persistent discrimination. Originality/value The innovative contribution of the paper is due to the fact that the authors are unaware of previous studies aimed at investigating if female accounting scholars are under-represented compared to their male colleagues within the top positions of the most prestigious Italian accounting associations and scientific journals. Previous research also did not investigate the existence of correlation between Italian women’s scientific productivity, their under-representation within academia and scientific career.

In security sciences organized crime starts to be treated as an asymmetric hazard. Organized crime covers, in the opinion of the Authors, all crimes committed within the criminal structures that are characterized by organization. Mafia is, on the one hand, a proper name for a Sicillian criminal organization, which has been used in the sense at least since the 19th century. On the other hand, it also means any criminal organization of mafia nature. In the Polish law, like in most legislations, the notion of mafia is not present. The authors try, however, to create its non-legal definition. They draw attention to the fact that the Penal Code of the Republic of Italy contains an original solution - apart from an “ordinary” criminal association (Article 416) it introduces penality for participation in an association of mafia nature (Article 416 bis). The primary purpose of this study is to analyse this structure in comparison to the origin and solution of the Italian antimafia law.

Abstract:
The foundation of architectural acoustics as an independent science is generally referred to Sabine’s early studies and their application. Nevertheless, since the 16th Century, a great number of authors wrote essays and treatises on the design of acoustic spaces, with a growing attention to the newborn typology of the Opera house, whose evolution is strongly connected to the cultural background of the Italian peninsula. With roots in the Renaissance rediscovery of Vitruvius’s treatise and his acoustic theory, 16th- to 19th-Century Italian authors tackled several issues concerning the construction of theatres—among them, architectural and structural features, the choice of the materials, the social meanings of performances. Thanks to this literature, the consolidation of this body of knowledge led to a standardisation of the forms of the Italian Opera house throughout the 19th Century. Therefore, the scope of this review paper is to focus on the treatises, essays and publications regarding theatre design, written by pre-Sabinian Italian scholars. The analysis of such literature aims at highlighting the consistencies in some 19th-Century minor Italian Opera houses, in order to understand to what extent this scientific and experimental background was part of the building tradition during the golden age of the Italian Opera.

Summary In this contribution we deal with the presence of lexemes originating from the Italian language or its dialects in the articles in the Montenegrin literary magazine Zeta, which was published in Cetinje during the second half of 1885. Besides the Montenegrin authors, other writers using different variants of the Shtokavian dialect also published their works in this journal, in which the translations of nine foreign authors were printed as well. Our first goal is to determine the similarities and differences in the presence of Italianisms conditioned by the author’s origin. Considering the greater exposure of the language in Montenegro to the influence of Italian and its dialects, it can be assumed that the Italian lexical component might be more present in the articles by Montenegrin authors than in the literary works of those who used other variants of Shtokavian. In addition, we want to verify whether the type of literary text affected the presence of Italianisms, starting from the assumption that the lexicon of Italian origin is more widely present in prose works that deal with topics related to everyday life than in poetry or in texts of a professional nature. Finally, we aim to determine to what extent the Italian lexis registered in our corpus is present in the dictionaries of Italianisms in Montenegrin vernaculars, is it adapted in the same way, and whether it appears with the same meaning or tends to present certain meaning variations.

Abstract:
The 1930s saw an explosion in the publication of crime writing in Italy, but initially readers’ appetite for crime fiction was fed almost entirely by translated imports from the US, Britain and France. Even as publishers began promoting crime writing by Italians, foreign models and settings remained important, and several early Italian writers set their work in foreign countries. This article, which draws on both textual analysis and archival research, examines some foreign-set novels produced by Italian authors during the Fascist years, and seeks to identify the function and appeal of foreign settings in the depiction of criminality in that period. These books, peopled by exotic ‘Others’, comment on corruption, freedom of the press, cultural diversity, racial difference, policing, criminality, as much at home as abroad. The distant settings offered safety and freedom, as well as escapism or distraction, and the opportunity to experiment with genre.

Abstract:
- The Author, in this paper, first of all reconstructs the essential historical phases of the theoretical and practical renewal process which preceded and accompanied the 180 law approval, that established the psychiatric hospitals closing. He then describes the Italian psychiatric reform characteristics, underlining how it produces the emerging of needs of new interpretation and intervention methods about psychic sufference: in this perspective psychotherapy has a crucial role and the italian law in psychotherapeutic training regulation is a further support. Particularly systemic psychotherapy proposes common basic principles with regard to the psychiatric reform and can represent an useful instrument for developping innovative concepts and practices. Finally the Authors put critically in evidence the problems still unresolved, not only concerning the need of a full application of the reform law, with the creation of territorial services and structures where they are still lacking or insufficient, but, over all, promoting the diffusion into the public services of a psychotherapeutic culture and practice.Key Words: Italian Psychiatric Reform, Law 180, Systemic Psychotherapy, Psychotherapeutic Culture, Public Services, Mental Health Workers Formation.Parole chiave: riforma psichiatrica italiana, legge 180, psicoterapia sistemica, cultura psicoterapeutica, servizi pubblici, formazione degli operatori.

Abstract:
This article shows the benefits to be drawn by applying to Fascist Italy an approach that has emerged within the German literature on Nazism within the field of Alltagsgeschichte or the history of everyday life. That approach has the potential to counter a nostalgic, rose-tinted and depoliticized view of life under Fascism, which has arisen in Italian public discourse since the crisis of anti-Fascism in the 1990s. Through a series of vignettes, the authors illustrate how ‘ordinary’ Italians encountered the Fascist state within the spaces of daily life.

TÖPFER, TILL. "The taxonomic status of the Italian Sparrow — Passer italiae (Vieillot 1817): Speciation by stabilised hybridisation? A critical analysis." Zootaxa 1325, no. 1 (September 28, 2006): 117. http://dx.doi.org/10.11646/zootaxa.1325.1.8.

Full text
Abstract:
Since its description the taxonomic status of the Italian Sparrow Passer italiae (Vieillot 1817) has changed repeatedly according to the speciation concepts applied. Due to external similarities with hybrid sparrow individuals the hypothesis that italiae is a stabilised hybrid form between Passer domesticus (L. 1758) and P. hispaniolensis (Temm. 1820) has deeply influenced the discussion although some authors do not even accept hybrid forms as taxa. Based upon a comprehensive review of the literature it is shown that the postulation of a hybrid origin of italiae is inadmissible, being based on a methodologically circular argument. There is no convincing proof of stabilised hybridisation. Therefore Passer italiae is a real taxon and not a hybrid form. Applying the Biospecies Concept according to current knowledge of distributional facts and the lack of reproductive isolation between italiae and hispaniolensis I argue that these two forms are conspecific. Passer domesticus is not conspecific with them. According to the rules of zoological nomenclature the taxa have to be designated as Passer italiae italiae (Vieillot 1817) and Passer italiae hispaniolensis (Temminck 1820).

Abstract:
Medieval women’s mysticism is characteristic to the European Middle Ages literature where there is a certain number of Italians. The authors’ desire to describe her own mystical experience as correctly as possible raise the problem of “expressing the inexpressible”, which results in using of characteristic linguistic means, stylistic as lexical. On the example of the texts of Angela da Foligno, Catherine of Siena and Catherine of Genoa, the article presents some of linguistic peculiarities of Italian medieval women’s mysticism: stylistical (the use of intentional tautologies, similarities, parabolas, metaphors, lithotes), and lexical (the use of courtesy and love lexis, as well as lexis related to the themes of motherhood, divine nursing, blood, nutrition and purification).
