Abstract:
The article introduces into scientific circulation a poem which was not included into the collected works of I.A. Bunin (1870–1953) and in the reference and bibliographic literature about the writer’s creative work: “Deaf Anxiety — how hard you hurt me!..”, published under his name on July 2, 1896 in the newspaper “Odessa news” — among two other well-known works of the poet: “The Tide (Dedicated to. A.M. Fedorov)”, “From Petrarch”. This poem was probably written in Odessa, where Bunin stayed for a few days at the dacha of his friend, the poet, translator, and journalist A.M. Fyodorov (1868– 1949), who helped to published Bunin's poems in three issues of the “Odessa news” (1896. June 16, 23, and July, 2). Both writers were fascinated at this time by the creative works of the Italian poet A. Nеgri (1870–1945) and tried to translate them with the help of their friends who knew Italian. However, there are no direct comparisons with the poetry of A. Nеgri in Bunin’s poem. Nevertheless, understanding of the poetics of the forgotten classic poet helps to clarify the evolution of Bunin’s creative works, in particular to see elements of elegiac romanticism and presymbolism in his earlypoetry.

Abstract:
Despite the flourishing of Translation Studies as a discipline, there has been little comparative assessment of modern European poet-translators, much less from a quantitative perspective. This article illustrates the use of statistical analysis of modern European poet-translators to understand literary currents and translation trends within and among national European literatures. Statistical results reveal fundamental differences in the practice of translation among European poets, specifically, twentieth-century Italian, French, Spanish, and English-language poets. It becomes clear which European poets translated the most and from which languages, as do contrasts in translation trends between national literatures through the twentieth century.

Many languages possess morphological rules which serve to express diminution or augmentation, endearment or contempt; examples are the Breton rule relating potr ‘boy’ to potrig ‘little boy’, the Shona rule relating chibikiso ‘cooking tool’ to zichibikiso ‘huge cooking tool’ and the Italian rule relating poeta ‘poet’ to poetastro ‘bad poet’. Because of the possibility of interpreting diminution and augmentation in affective rather than purely objective terms (Wierzbicka, 1980: 53ff.; Szymanek, 1988: 106ff.), morphological expressions of diminution or augmentation are not always discrete from those of endearment or contempt; that is, diminutives and augmentatives are frequently used as expressions of endearment (such as Italian sorella ‘sister’ → sorellina ‘dear little sister’, donna ‘woman’ → donnotta ‘fine, stout woman’) or disdain (Italian uomo ‘man’ → uomicciuolo ‘contemptible little man’, donna → donnona ‘overgrown girl’).

Su vida recoge el pasaje desde el régimen Fascista al neocapitalismo y del colonialismo al poscolonialismo.Si tenemos en cuenta el contexto geopolítico italiano actual con respecto a las políticas migratorias y al desarrollo neoliberalista y neocolonial ¿qué significa analizar la referencia pasoliniana hoy? ¿y qué ocurre con el imaginario que se ha construido acerca del poeta como icono de la lucha anticapitalista radical si al analizar su obra y su vida desplazamos nuestra mirada hacia una perspectiva antirracista? El objetivo de esta contribución es situar la figura pasoliniana en el contexto histórico italiano, analizar su interés sobre los archivos y visibilizar el aspecto más orientalista de su obra. Today Pier Paolo Pasolini is considerated as one of the most important Italian intellectuals from the 20th century. His life picks up the passage from the fascist regime to the neo-capitalism and from the colonialism to the post colonialism. Holding the actual Italian geopolitical context in mind in regard to the migration policies, the neoliberal and neocolonial development ¿what does analyse the pasolinianan reference mean now a day? And what happens in regard to the imaginary that was build around the poet as an icon of the fight against radical anti-capitalism if by analyzing his work and life we move our attention to an antiracist perspective? The objetive of this contribution is to situate the pasolinianan figure in the Italian historical context. Analysing his interest about archives and making the more orientalist aspect of his work.

César Pavese (1908-50) es un poeta y novelista italiano que ha traducido los escritos de varios americanos al italiano y ha escrito crítica literaria. Sus escritos antifascistas lo llevaron al encarcelamiento, lo que motivó en él la escritura creativa. Durante la Segunda Guerra Mundial, formó parte de la resistencia. Pavese fue encontrado muerto en la habitación de un hotel en Torino.Por lo general, la ficción de Pavese versa sobre los conflictos de la vida contemporánea, entre ellos la búsqueda de una identidad propia. Esta búsqueda se da por ejemplo en La luna e ifalo (1950) considerada su mejor novela. Cesare Pavese( 1908-50), Italian poet and novelist. He also translated the writings of numerous Americans into Italian and wrote Iiterary criticismo His anti-Fascist writings led to his imprisonment, which in tum led to his creative writing. During World War II he was part of the Resistence.Pavese's fiction generally deals with the conflicts of contemporary life, such as the search for self identity-as in The Moon and the Bonfires (1950), regarded as his best novel. He was found life less in his room in a hotel of Torino.

Abstract:
This paper deals with the history of translation in the 18th and 19th centuries. It investigates the reasons behind six unsuccessful attempts to translate John Milton’s Paradise Lost (1667) into the Italian language. We hypothesise that the problem was the rendering of unusually marked lexical, thematic, stylistic and rhythmical analogies with Dante’s Comedy and, mainly, with its sources. Adopting Antonio Bellati’s Italian translation (1856) as an indicator, our study focuses on problematic aspects intrinsic to the English poem. Specifically, we suggest that the challenge was the transposition of Paradise Lost’s peculiar mixture of style and meter: the blank verse of a Christian epic poem. This uniqueness rendered it too similar to Dante’s Comedy. Likewise, the setting and the subject matter of the English poem were too adherent to that of both Dante and Virgil’s Aeneid (one of Dante’s main sources). Finally, it might have been difficult to translate Milton into Italian because the English poet openly imitates the Italian epic style, its rhythmical and lexical choices. We conclude that it might have been arduous to avoid even more marked Dantesque influences in an Italian translation. In other words, this study depicts an unusual traductive instance of “excess of equivalence” for lexical and culturally specific items.

Vernacular poetry is generally evaluated according to culturally specific aesthetic standards, what anthropologists call ethnopoetics. This article offers embodied entexualization—the culturally specific ways bodies are incorporated into as well as produce texts—as a means for analyzing how ethnopoetic systems reflect social and political histories and contexts. The poetry of the northern Italian town of Bergamo, and specifically a poem by a locally celebrated poet, Piero Frér, provides an illustrative case.

Among the English poets Chiarini translated were Wordsworth, Elizabeth Barrett Browning, Shelley, Tennyson, Swinburne, and Robert Browning. Abstract:
The object of the present study is Antonio Pistoia (1436? - 1502), a jocular poet and customs collector who worked mainly in Northern Italy. Although his reputation as a notable literary figure has suffered from neglect in recent times, his work was appreciated by and known to his contemporaries including Pietro Aretino, Ludovico Ariosto, Matteo Bandello, Francesco Berni and Baldesar Castiglione. Research on his life and work came to a halt at the beginning of this century and since then he has failed to attract significant attention. The present study attempts to review and re-examine both the man and his work with a view to putting Antonio Pistoia back on the literary map. My thesis is based on the idea that a poet can be explored from various points of view and with different methodologies tailored to the objects under investigation. In the case of Pistoia a biographical history alone or an interpretation of his work alone would provide only partial results. By combining the two I have attempted to see how he and his work fitted within the cultural scene, the social and historical setting of Renaissance Italy in a period of political and military crisis. Based on archive work and on new textual material retrieved from a number of European libraries, this study challenges and tests widely held theories concerning both his biography and his literary production. By collecting fresh references and winnowing old ones, it throws new light on a series of specific issues from matters of identification relating to the poet's life, the critical fortune of his collection of sonnets, his play Panfila and other minor works, and to problems of uncertain authorship, including poems of undisputed, doubtful and arbitrary attribution; the final section is devoted to his Canzoniere, its composition and the tradition to which it belongs and a thematic and stylistic overview of his poems. A codicological analysis of the allegedly autograph manuscript and a listing of Pistoia's archival documents, manuscripts and early printed sources, completely assembled for the first time and comprehensive of additional new findings, conclude the study.

Ce travail de thèse s'articule autour d'une définition historique qui a été formulée par Cesare Pavese, lorsqu'il a défini les années 30 et 40 du XXe siècle comme les deux décennies de la traduction par excellence. Si les études menées jusqu'à aujourd'hui se sont penchées de manière approfondie presque seulement sur la traduction des romans et cela en choisissant comme langue source privilégiée l'anglais ou le français, nous avons concentré notre analyse sur la traduction, l'écriture et la critique poétiques réalisées dans la période s'étalant de l'entre-deux-guerres jusqu'à la fin des années 40. La poésie était en effet le lieu critique, traductif et créatif le plus fréquenté. Un véritable besoin de poésie animait les cénacles des intellectuels italiens à Florence comme à Milan, à Parme, à Rome et également à Turin. Les échanges entre les artistes, critiques, poètes et traducteurs se jouaient pour la plupart sur le terrain de la poésie, sans être, au moins jusqu'au milieu des années 30, particulièrement entravés par la censure fasciste. En effet l'Italie devait, même aux yeux du fascisme, connaître un Baudelaire, un Rimbaud et un Eliot parlant italien. La poésie prenait une place sans précédents dans la vie culturelle et littéraire de l'époque et devint aussi un champ d'action concret : écrire en vers bouleverse autant l'ordre syntactique de la langue que l'habitude à concevoir la réalité de manière univoque et sans opacités.La poésie, pour reprendre une pensée d'Henri Meschonnic, est « contre le maintien de l'ordre », et se propose comme une forme d'engagement profond qui implique les consciences et leur prise de position face à la réalité. Dans une perspective plus large, le discours poétique s'entrelace avec le discours politique, si par politique on présuppose tout effort visant à garantir le bien-être de l'homme et la création des conditions qui permettent la réalisation au degré le plus haut de la liberté de tout individu.L'objet d'intérêt de la traduction poétique fusionne inévitablement avec la poésie tout court, ne serait-ce que parce que toute poésie est en tout cas toujours une traduction. Faire et construire en poésie sont devenus ainsi les axes de cette étude qui essaye de rendre compte constamment des voix de plusieurs personnalités qui étaient à la fois poètes, traducteurs et critiques littéraires. La partie finale de ce travail se concentre ainsi sur la naissance d'un nouveau type d'intellectuel qui est poète, traducteur et critique, et qui, très souvent, est aussi un éditeur. Sa participation à la vie sociale, politique et éditoriale du pays devient de plus en plus significative et fera de la poésie le sujet de plusieurs collections éditoriales et de nombreuses autres publications.Nous avons essayé de montrer quel type d'engagement peut émaner de l'écriture des poèmes et de la pratique de la traduction poétique, en décrivant quel militantisme profond et passionné peut surgir de la 'fréquentation' de la poésie, qui se propose comme une constellation de sens constamment “constructible”, comme une présence jamais définitive. Cette mise en valeur de l'inachevé contribue à la mise en question de l'identité du sujet et à la poursuite de son salut, à la multiplication des hypothèses, et à l'ouverture des horizons. En se proposant avec son corps mouvant et émouvant, la poésie sera, pendant le fascisme, un levier d'indisciplinarité face à la règle, s'imposant comme un insoupçonnable instrument de contestation et de résistance<br>This thesis focuses on a historical definition given by Cesare Pavese, when he defined the 30s and 40s of the twentieth century as the translation's period par excellence in Italy. The previous studies have looked extensively on the translation of novels and most of these researches choose English or French as principal language sources. This Phd thesis concentrates instead the analysis first of all on poetic translation and also on writing poetry as well as on poetic criticism ‘made' in the inter-war period until the late 40s. Poetry was incontestably the critical, translational and creative locus. Poetry was the main interest of the circles of Italian intellectuals in Florence and in Milan, in Parma, in Rome and in Turin also. Exchanges between artists, critics, poets and translators played mostly in the field of poetry, more or less without being particularly hampered by the fascist censorship, until the mid-30s. Poetry became a field of concrete action because it upsets language's syntactic order and this encourages a new conception and design of the reality, as well a way to fight every monolithic solution refusing opacity and incompleteness.Using an expression of Henri Meschonnic poetry is “against the maintenance of the order”, and presents itself as a form of deep commitment (in order words a form of “engagement”) that involves awareness and taking a stand against reality. In a poetic discourse the political element is closed involved. In fact we assume that “politics” is any attempt to fight for the welfare of man and every attempt to achieve the highest degree of freedom of every individual.The subject of criticism and translating poetry inevitably merge with poetry at all, and it is to consider that poetry is in any case always a translation. Poetry and its effects have become the axes of this study that tries to present consistently the voices of several people who were poets, translators and literary critics at the same time. The final part of this work concentrates on the birth of a new type of intellectual who is a poet, a translator, a critic and often also a publisher.We tried to show also what type of engagement may trigger the writing of poems and the practice of poetic translation, describing how deep and passionate activism may arise 'attending' poetry. Poetry is always proposed as a constellation of meaning constantly "building" as a presence never definitive. This enhancement of the unfinished contributes to the questioning of the subject's identity and to the pursuit of his salvation. Every poetic multiplication of hypotheses allows the opening of a lot of horizons. Offering her moving body poetry has been, even during Fascism, a lever of great indisciplinarity face to the rule settled by the dictatorship and it has been an unsuspected instrument of protest and resistance

Abstract:
Janet Frame (1924-2004) is known for being one of the most prolific, translated, and unconventional New Zealand novelists. Her work, however, includes a vast production of poems, which scholars and translators have ignored or, at least, not considered worthy for a comprehensive approach to her. Frame's work has undergone the further limitation of a strongly biography-based hermeneutics: from the gossiping around her alleged schizophrenia, to the popularity of the filmic version of her autobiography (An Angel at My Table) by Jane Campion, and the countless legends that have sprung around her, she has often been stigmatised and labelled the 'mad writer' of Campion's movie. This thesis links the risks of the life/myth-driven perspectives to the current lack of interest in Frame's poetry. Her poetic production is here presented as a fundamental part of her oeuvre and her idiosyncratic approach to writing. Therefore, this study aims to fill this gap in the literature on Frame and thus reconfigure her role as a poet. Through a combination of methodologies grounded in literary and verse translation theories, creativity and genre studies, poststructuralism and postcolonialism, this thesis investigates the most significant traits of Frame's prose and poetry, particularly the traits shared by both. It critiques past translations of Frame's prose into Italian where these have not taken into account the poetic value of her work, and suggests strategies for the translation of her verse into Italian, arguing that an informed approach to her poetry in translation may greatly contribute to a reconfiguration and re-evaluation of her legacy.

Abstract:
In the last decades, the research has directed its efforts and resources paper is to investigate towards the possibility to incorporate wave energy converters, into the traditional maritime breakwaters to combine classical use with new opportunities and developments (for example, the Green Ports). Since the nineties, the OWC (Oscillating Water Column) plants were developed at full scale to produce electrical power from ocean waves. For instance, a new plant was built in Mutriku (Spain) recently. A new kind of OWC caisson, named U-OWC or REWEC3, which has the advantage to obtain an impressive natural resonance without any device for phase control, has been patented by Boccotti [1]. This new U-OWC device gives performances better than those of a conventional OWC either with small wind waves or with high waves [2,3,4]. The properties of the REWEC3 have been verified with two small-scale field experiments carried out in the natural ocean engineering laboratory NOEL of Reggio Calabria off the eastern coast of the Sicily Channel [5–7]. The aim of the present two sites along Italian coasts for possible installations of REWEC3 devices: i) the port of Civitavecchia (Rome, Italy)in the Tyrrhenian sea; ii) the port of Pantelleria, in the Sicily Channel.

Abstract:
The relationship between architectural expressiveness and concrete formal structure was the leitmotif of the Italian structuralism in the second post-war two decades. The design of industrial structures radicalized this relationship because of the nature of the production processes that imposed to the architect the dimension of standardisation, repetition and economy of means. This approach reduced the distance between architectural form and informal building. This research aims to show how this condition transforms the idea of design process by some Italian authors, in the restricted field of reinforced-concrete structures for industry. The architectural form becomes a process that includes all the aspects of the project: the technological content (cooling, ventilation and water-drainage systems), the economic side, the engineering start up. In this way, the project of industrial structures is an outcome of the components design, constituted by structural elements (pillars, beams, desk boards), and controlled by the project of a structural bay, as a device for the design process. In this sense, the proposed paper shows the research on the Kodak factory in Marcianise by Aldo Favini and Gianluigi Gh. as a paradigm of this phenomenon. The paper illustrates how the hollow structural form of the elements addresses the problem of the technological content in the architectural design, showing morphological- structural models that isolates the bay as a design device. This aspect defines a specific quality of the industrial prototypes, developed through the professional partnership between the architect and the engineer. The knowledge about this kind of industrial prototypes is useful on one hand to admit these building as an Italian historical heritage that needs to be preserved, on the other hand to understand how it is possible transform these buildings through a new adaptive reuse.

Abstract:
Since 1999 ENEA is developing the heavy liquid metal (HLM) technology aiming to support the design and implementation of a Lead cooled Fast Reactor (LFR) and an Accelerator Driven System (ADS), both in the frame of the Italian and European research programs. In these contexts several experiments have been performed, in different fields, going from coolant thermal-hydraulic, component development and structural material characterization. Recently, in the frame of the IP-EUROTRANS (6th Framework Program EU), domain DEMETRA, ENEA assumed the commitment to perform an integral experiment aiming to reproduce the primary flow path of a pool-type nuclear reactor, cooled by Lead Bismuth Eutectics (LBE). This experimental activity, named “Integral Circulation Experiment (ICE)”, has been implemented thanks a joint effort of several research institutes, mainly ENEA and University of Pisa, allowing to design an appropriate test section. This has been installed in the CIRCE facility, the largest worldwide experimental facility for the HLM technology investigation. The goal of the experiments was to demonstrate the technological feasibility of a heavy liquid metal (HLM) pooltype nuclear system in a relevant scale (1 MW), investigating the related thermal–hydraulic behavior under both steady state and transient conditions. This paper reports a description of the experiment, as well as the results carried out in the first experimental campaign run on the CIRCE pool, which consists of a full power steady state test, an un-protected loss of heat sink (ULOH) test, and an un-protected loss of flow (ULOF) test. The post-test analyses of the experiments is presented. The whole domain has been modeled by a suitable 1-D nodalization, and the results carried out have been studied performing numerical calculations by the REALP5 system code modified to take in account the LBE thermal-physical properties when employed as nuclear coolant. The obtained experimental results as well as the performed post-test analysis have demonstrated the thermal-hydraulic and technological feasibility of a pool-type nuclear system cooled by HLM.

Abstract:
The article considers relativism as a philosophical principle and the moral standpoint of a journalist. In particular, the main argumentation of Roberto de Mattei’s work «Dictatorship of Relativism» is analyzed. Like Ratzinger, the Italian publicist describes modern life as ruled by a dictatorship of relativism which does not recognize anything as definitive and whose ultimate goal consists solely of satisfying «the desires of one’s own ego». In his view, the boundaries of the main conflict of modernity lie between two visions of the world: one that believes in the existence of immutable, absolute values, and one that argues that there is nothing stable, that everything is conditional, time-dependent and can be discussed in the media. The markers of this conflict are our attitude to the famous statement of Protagoras about «man as a measure of all things: of the things that are, that they are, of the things that are not, that they are not», as well as to the non-debatable values, the status of natural and positive law, the worldview neutrality, the dehierarchization and multiplicity of truths, the equalization of all worldviews and axiological standpoint in foreign and Ukrainian media. A special attention in the article is paid to the ideological program of media-relativism, as well as to the postmodern and post-communist contexts of the issue of the penetration of relativism into the journalistic values.
