Abstract:
The article focuses on iteration in the Russian language, which is represented by different semantic types, based on the nature of the repetitive meaning and the ways of expressing it. Therefore, the author describes this semantic complex within the framework of a functional-semantic field, which includes heterogeneous forms of repetition of an action, including some types of usage of perfective verbs. The approach used in this article raises the question of the semantic scope of iterativity, since the boundaries between the presence and absence of elements of repetition are in some cases vagu

The oldest function of CoC-éye/o- presents in PIE is to derive causative presents to unaccusative base verbs, as well as to some transitive verbs with an affected subject. Neural semantic parsers usually fail to parse long and complex utterances into correct meaning representations, due to the lack of exploiting the principle of compositionality. To address this issue, we present a novel framework for boosting neural semantic parsers via iterative utterance segmentation. Given an input utterance, our framework iterates between two neural modules: a segmenter for segmenting a span from the utterance, and a parser for mapping the span into a partial meaning representation. Then, these intermediate parsing results are composed into the final meaning representation.

This paper is a personal exploration of one woman's lived experience with aphasia, verbal dyspraxia and accent change following cryptogenic ischaemic stroke. I share insights into my experiences, especially of an emotional and cultural nature, after growing up multilingual in Europe and then living with communication changes in a predominantly English-speaking country (Australia) and following return to Europe. My formal reflections commenced 15 years after the stroke and, following my previous studies in the medical field, multimodal visual arts and philosophy, were initiated in the context o

This paper proposes a hybrid multi-vector model predictive control (MPC) to reduce the harmonic content in the output current of a two-level virtual synchronous generator (VSG). Compared to traditional two-vector MPC, the proposed hybrid multi-vector MPC has twelve sets of voltage vectors, meaning that the number of iterative calculations required in each cycle is identical for both control methods. Compared to the three-vector MPC, the proposed method requires more iterative calculations per control period but achieves optimal harmonic content in the output current. In addition, different fro

We consider the problem of computed tomography (CT). This ill-posed inverse problem arises when one wishes to investigate the internal structure of an object with a non-invasive and non-destructive technique. This problem is severely ill-conditioned, meaning it has infinite solutions and is extremely sensitive to perturbations in the collected data. This sensitivity produces the well-known semi-convergence phenomenon if iterative methods are used to solve it. In this work, we propose a multigrid approach to mitigate this instability and produce fast, accurate, and stable algorithms starting fr

Then, notions like "education" and "research" are analyzed using two approaches: (1) the etymological approach, which provides the general meaning, i.e. the root of the semantic branches generated by their historical evolution, and (2) the systemic approach, which explores their general meaning based on what is common to all systems, which is its telos (objective, purpose). Studies of gestural communication systems find that they originate from spontaneously created iconic gestures. Yet, we know little about how people create vocal communication systems, and many have suggested that vocalizations do not afford iconicity beyond trivial instances of onomatopoeia. It is unknown whether people can generate vocal communication systems through a process of iconic creation similar to gestural systems. Here, we examine the creation and development of a rudimentary vocal symbol system in a laboratory setting. Pairs of participants generated novel vocalizations for 18 diff

Beginning with CL and focusing largely on words and combinations of words, we then use CA to highlight pertinent interactional features. Our methodology follows an iterative process: f

The plural of countable abstract nouns whose meaning has a direct relation to time receives an aspectual, iterative interpretation. However, event nouns present the main interest of the study as their plural can be iterative as well as "multi-event", i.e. it can denote a plurality of even

These verbs exhibit particular properties that make them interesting for morphological theory.
