This project aims to analyze HI bacteria agents in clinical samples of patients and handswashing of health workers of four ITU in Manaus. Handswashing was performed in soy trypticasein broth and incubated at 37ºC for 24 hours. It was grown in medium for isolation and bacteria identification. The clinical samples were grown and identified in the same conditions as that of the handswashing. Out of the 294 handswashing samples, 244 bacteria were isolated, the most frequent were Enterococcus fecalis (32,79%), Staphylococcus aureus (24,18%), Pseudomonas aeruginosa (7,79%), Burkolderia cepacia (5,33%), Enterobacter cloacae (4,51%), Klebsiella pneumoniae (4,51%), and others (12,70%). Out of the 94 patients secretion samples collected, the most frequent were Staphylococcus aureus (39,36%), Pseudomonas aeruginosa (18,08%), Acinetobacter baumannii (4,25%), Enterobacter cloacae 93,19%), Enterococcus fecalis (4,25%), Serratia marcescens (9,57%) and others (11,72%). The most frequent pathogens isolated from the clinical and handswashing samples were analyzed for resistance through disc diffusion method. Also, it was performed a study of the health workers habits that could mean a risk factor for HI. Staphylococcus aureus isolated from the clinical samples presented a low rate of resistance to the antibiotics tested. The other microorganisms isolated from the clinical and handswashing samples showed a high rate of resistance to the several groups of antibiotics that are usually used for their treatment. This study analyzed the frequency of pathogens isolated from clinical and handswashing samples and the presence of pathogens that are multi-resistant to the several groups of antibiotics tested, showing the need of implementing strategies that raise awareness of training for HI knowledge and control.

Time`s hiding places focuses on the role of temporality in the relations between the subject and the collective. Based on Jacques Lacan`s article The logical time and assertion of the anticipated certainty, and all the subsequent approaches to the theme throughout his lectures, this investigation aims at discussing the individual`s possibilities of making use of the internal alterities to inscribe the marks of his singularity into the collective. Such an experience could be constructed as from a paradoxical act - the anticipatory subjective assertion - characterized by the introduction of the three logical times: the instant of seeing, the time for understanding and the moment of concluding. Following them, an specific intersubjective logic is generated, resulting from the transformation of the anguish affection into a distinctive means of establishing the social bind.

Preston, Robert. "It´s All Relative: Time and Space in Nabokov´s Lolita." Thesis, Högskolan i Halmstad, Sektionen för humaniora (HUM), 2013. http://urn.kb.se/resolve?urn=urn:nbn:se:hh:diva-23349.

Abstract:
This essay offers a deconstructive approach to Nabokov´s Lolita. Critics have tended to treat space and time as distinct concepts in the novel: choosing to analyse the role of either one or the other, and even when considering both, examining them in isolation. It´s narrator, Humbert Humbert, however, implies that "time" and "spatial" terms are interchangeable in a way reminiscent of Einstein´s Theory of Relativity in which space-time is a continuum that is experienced relative to the individual observer´s own position in the universe. This essay therefore explores the possibility that Nabokov may have used Einstein´s concept of space-time relativity as a metaphor in Lolita. The essay looks first at the various ways in which the idea of relativity surfaces throughout the novel not just in relation to space and time, but also in its moral, cultural and historic forms. The roles of the Hour Glass Lake, Lolita´s sunglasses and Humbert´s car, three of the novel´s chief symbols, are then discussed in relation to its key elements: the notion of time dilation, the place of the observer and Humbert´s space-time bubble. It next concentrates on how the characters in the novel exemplify the roles of both observer and observed in a modern, self-centred and morally relativistic world. The final section argues that Humbert’s "madness" represents the most extreme consequence of his living in his own solipsistic bubble of space-time, or "dream vacuum" as he calls it.

Just a glance at the childrens section of a bookstore will reveal a number of stories whose narrative elements are undoubtedly similar or related to one another. It is the case of a character perceived as different by its peers, and seeks approval by the group. The Ugly Duckling is, perhaps, the best-known model of this sort of story. The present research intends to show how this archetypical character has the potential to inspire, transform and acquire a variety of visual forms in childrens literature. Actually, images play an important part in the making of meaning in these plots. They will guide us in the analysis of the numerous ways of approaching the theme. We will examine how the visual representation of character seen as different, and looks for its own place and identity within a group, reflects diverse visions about the theme of belonging.

Abstract:
Long Term Evolution (LTE) known in the market as 4G LTE, it is an evolution of the GSM/UMTS standard. The overall aim of LTE was to provide a new radio access technology focusing on packet-switched data only. LTE has provided a new peak download rates, low data transfer latencies, and improved the support for mobility. 3Th Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) specialized that LTE released 10 and beyond known as LTE-advanced it is the second evolution of LTE. It has some services such as Coordinated Multipoint Transmission and Reception (CoMP), evolved Multimedia Broadcast and Multicast Service (eMBMS) with Multicast-Broadcast Single-Frequency Network (MBSFN). The development still continuous on LTE-advanced, it is intended to meet the requirement of advanced application that will become common in the wireless marketplace in future. The goals of this project is to simulate one of LTE-A services on LTE standard such as CoMP or/and eMBMS with MBSFN using OPENT LTE, and measure some statistic such as spectral efficiency and also some other statistics, describe centralization vs. decentralization in LTE, and synchronization in the base station in LTE. OPNET LTE support eMBMS with MBSFN, and don’t support CoMP, the simulation has been done by using eMBMS with MBSFN. Finally the objectives of the project has achieved, the result show that when eMBMS with MBSFN is implemented the throughput increased in the downlink to about 5.52 Mbps and in the uplink to about 5.18 Mbps, and also the system spectral efficiency increased in eNB1 from about 10.25 (bits/s/Hz/cell) to about 13.75 (bits/s/Hz/cell) and in eNB2 from about 10.25 (bits/s/Hz/cell) to about 17.25 (bits/s/Hz/cell). The project also answers if it is possible to have centralization in LTE, describe synchronization in the base station in LTE, and if OPNET is useful for big research.

The thesis situates and discusses the current debate on conditions of life on Earth, presently threatened by the predatory use of natural resources. With the purpose of establishing a position in this debate, we present the script for a documentary film, THE WORLD AFTER THE END - a documentary that departs from the issue of death in the context of the anthropocene, in order to apporach the regenerative capacity of three groups: the Brazilian natives Ashaninka, the Tibetans and the plants. Justifying the choice of the three groups of beings observed, discourses of biologists (with emphasis on researchers in plant neurobiology), anthropologists (especially the so-called symmetrical) and religious or religious-political leaders of pre-modern peoples. Assuming a perspectivistic position, we seek to exchange advanced fractions of Western scientific knowledge with the critical and renewing impact of epistemologies of archaic societies such as Tibetan and Ashaninka. With such a speculative and artistic exercise, we intend to contribute to the opening of horizons in the midst of contemporary perplexity.

Palmer, Zoe Jane. "S-nitrosylation of syntaxin and its role in exocytosis." Thesis, University of Liverpool, 2008. http://ethos.bl.uk/OrderDetails.do?uin=uk.bl.ethos.502573.

Full text
Abstract:
Regulated exocytosis is a process by which cells release substances, for example neurotransmitters from neurons, in response to a trigger, usually calcium. Nitric oxide (NO) has been shown to regulate exocytosis in a variety of cell types, including neurons, although its definitive role is controversial. This study addressed this issue by using chromaffin cells, which are an excellent neuronal cell model. Intact ~nd permeabilised chromaffin cells were treated with NO donors and catecholamine release was measured. NO severely inhibited exocytosis in both intact and permeabilised cells, indicating that this inhibitory role could be mediated through direct modification of the exocytotic machinery. S-nitrosylation is a cGMP-independent role for NO and is the addition of an NO moiety to a cysteine residue of a protein. Although the roles of some posttranslational modifications in exocytosis have been well studied, for example phosphorylation, the role of S-nitrosylation in exocytosis is less well established.

Abstract:

The post-apocalyptic narrative has been imagined time and again in American literature and popular culture. More often than not, it is presented as a dystopian future in which all signs of humanity and the world as we know it are lost. Through an examination of nature and environment, humanity, and time and futurity within two post-apocalyptic texts—Cormac McCarthy's novel The Road and Robert Kirkman's graphic novel The Walking Dead—this thesis explores the manner in which heteronormativity is presented and, more importantly, the ways in which this type of dominant order can be and are disrupted. Reading against the grain, I explore definitions "normative" and "nonnormative," "human" and "monstrous" within the post-apocalyptic narrative in an effort to suggest that these definitions are complicated in an attempt to present the post-apocalyptic future as a space for multiple potentialities and possibilities of living.

Abstract:

RUZZA, Chiara. "Pharmacological and neurobiological studies on Neuropeptide S and its receptor." Doctoral thesis, Università degli studi di Ferrara, 2011. http://hdl.handle.net/11392/2388825.

Full text
Abstract:
Neuropeptide S (NPS) is the last neuropeptide identified via reverse pharmacology techniques. NPS selectively binds and activates a previously orphan GPCR, now named NPSR, producing intracellular Ca2+ mobilization and stimulation of cAMP levels. Biological functions modulated by the NPS/NPSR system include anxiety, arousal, locomotion, food intake, learning and memory, pain and drug addiction. In our laboratories we provided further evidence that NPS injected supraspinally in mice acts as a stimulatory anxiolytic. In fact, in the mouse righting reflex (RR) test, NPS (0.01- 1 nmol, i.c.v.) was able to reduce in a dose dependent manner the percent of animals losing the RR in response to diazepam (15mg/kg, i.p.) and their sleep time. Furthermore, NPS in the same range of doses caused a significant increase in locomotor activity (LA) in mice. These effects were associated with a clear anxiolytic-like action elicited by NPS in the mouse elevated plus maze (EPM) test, open field (OF) test and stress-induced hyperthermia (SIH) assay. Thus NPS evokes an unique pattern of behavioural effects: stimulation associated with anxiolysis. To deeply investigate the biological roles played by the NPS/NPSR system the development of pharmacological (i.e. selective NPSR ligands, particularly antagonists) and genetic (i.e. receptor knockout animals) tools are needed. In collaboration with the medicinal chemistry group of the University of Ferrara, we performed a series of classical structure-activity (SAR) studies on NPS sequence. Specifically, NPS positions 2, 3, 4 and 5 were investigated in details, since they were demonstrated to be crucial for NPS bioactivity. Studies focussed on NPS position 5 led to the identification and the in vitro and in vivo pharmacological characterization of the first generation of NPSR peptide antagonists. In vitro, in HEK293 cells stably expressing the mouse NPSR, [D-Cys(tBu)5]NPS up to 100 μM did not stimulate Ca2+ mobilization but was able to counteract in a competitive manner the stimulatory action of NPS (pA2: 6.44). In vivo, in the RR test, [D-Cys(tBu)5]NPS at 10 nmol was inactive per se but dose dependently antagonized the arousal-promoting action of NPS 0.1 nmol. [D-Val5]NPS acted in vitro as a pure NPSR antagonist, with a pKB of 6.54 in inhibition experiments. In vivo, in LA test, [D-Val5]NPS at 10 nmol completely blocked the stimulatory effect evoked by NPS. In a further medicinal chemistry study, the potent NPSR antagonist [tBu-D-Gly5]NPS was identified. In vitro, [tBu-D-Gly5]NPS did not stimulate calcium mobilization but blocked the stimulant action of NPS with a pKB of 7.06 7. In vivo, in RR assay, [tBu-D-Gly5]NPS (0.1-10 nmol, i.c.v.) was inactive per se but dose dependently antagonized the arousal-promoting action of NPS 0.1 nmol. Similarly in the LA assay [tBu-D-Gly5]NPS (0.1-10 nmol, i.c.v.) was inactive per se but was able to counteract the stimulatory effect evoked by 0.1 nmol NPS in a dose dependent manner. SHA 68 has been previously identified as the first non peptide NPSR antagonist. In our laboratories we further assessed the pharmacological profile of SHA 68 in vitro and in vivo. In vitro SHA 68 was inactive per se up to 10 μM while it antagonized NPSstimulated Ca2+ mobilization in a competitive manner showing a pA2 value of 8.06. In vivo, in the mouse RR assay, SHA68 50 mg/kg i.p. fully prevented the arousal promoting action of NPS 0.1 nmol. In LA experiments, SHA 68 50 mg/kg i.p. was able to partially counteract the stimulant effects elicited by NPS 0.1 nmol. Instead, the anxiolytic-like effects of NPS 0.1 nmol in mouse OF test were slightly reduced by SHA 68. Collectively these data demonstrated the exclusive involvement of NPSR in the arousal promoting and locomotor stimulant effects of NPS. Finally, we backcrossed on the CD-1 strain the NPSR knockout mice originally generated on the 129Sv/Ev genetic background. A first phenotype analysis revealed no locomotor differences between NPSR(+/+) and NPSR(-/-) mice, with the exception of rearing behaviour that was reduced in knockout animals. Furthermore, the behaviour of NPSR(+/+) and NPSR(-/-) mice in the EPM, OF and SIH tests is superimposable. Similarly no differences were detected in the novel object recognition, forced swimming, RR and formalin assays. However, the stimulant actions of 1 nmol NPS in RR and in LA test could be detected in NPSR(+/+) but not in NPSR(-/-) mice. Collectively these data demonstrated that endogenous NPS/NPSR system does not play a role in the control of locomotion, anxiety, depression and memory, at least under the present experimental conditions. These results demonstrated that the NPS stimulant effects are selectively due to NPSR activation, corroborating the findings obtained with NPSR antagonists. In conclusion, the research activity performed during the PhD program led to the identification of the first generation of NPSR peptide antagonists. The use of these research tools in parallel with knockout studies generated converging evidence on the biological effects induced by the selective activation of NPSR.

Abstract:
Nyckelord: lärplattform, utbildningsplattform, It´s learning, distansundervisning, närundervisning, kurs, struktur, kursstruktur, kursmall

Abstract:
Operational development is a frequently used term within organizations nowadays. The term refers to organizations that continuously strive to achieve better results by increasing the efficiency, improve the safety, expanding the customer base etc. This study investigates what is determining if an organization is successful in operational development and what is needed in the organization on order to improve the performance in an efficient way. It also investigates how operational development should be conducted in companies consisting of a parent company and a number of subsidiaries in order to be successful. The main question of the study is whether there are any synergies in common strategies for operational development at subsidiaries or if operational development is more efficient if it is conducted separately. The study also investigates whether subsidiaries can take advantages of each others experiences of operational development by working more closely toghether with it. This is investigated through examining how learning occurs within and between organizations. The study´s aim is also to identify which factors are essential for organizations in order to succeed with development of their operation, according to theories on operational development, different quality systems and a case study at The Company."The Association`s" recommendations on gow operational development should be performed by organizations in the type of business in which The Company operates are also examined. The recommendations are examined in order to identify crucial key factors and organisational attributes for operational development. The project has been executed in cooperation with the Company and its five direct subsidiaries. As a basis for this investigation a number of qualitative interviews, a workshop and a litterature review have been performed. The results of the investigation argue in favour for the existence of synergies in subsidiaries, working in common with operational development. Cooperation may even stimulate the work with operational development in respective subsidiary. One possible strategy to work in common with operational development is to establish an operational development network where the organizations have the opportunity to discuss and exchange experiences. The litterature also shows clearly that there are great opportunities for subsidiaries to learn from each other as long as the willingness to share knowledge is present. The study also indicates that it exist at least eight key factors that affect how successful the work with operational development is in an organization. These key factors are; management commitment, employee involvement, communication, customer orientation, process orientation, continuous improvements, cultural changes and decisions based on facts.
"The Association":s rekommendationer om hur organisationer in the Companys bransch bör bedriva verksamhetutveckling undersöks också.

Abstract:
This work describes the characterization of the CAN1 gene, thought to encode the arginine permease of yeast. I have identified the RNA transcript of this gene and obtained the DNA sequence, which specifies a highly hydrophobic protein with multiple potential membrane-spanning domains. I use a gene fusion approach to identify sequences within the CAN1 protein that can translocate adjacent sequences across the E.R. membrane in vitro and extend these observations by finding that the topology of E.R. insertion is conserved up to the plasma membrane in vivo. Using a series of CAN1 gene fusions to the secreted yeast killer toxin, I find that the pathway of membrane protein export to the cell surface need not be functionally distinct from that of secreted proteins. Finally, I describe a mutation in the CAN1 gene that leads to altered rates of lysine uptake and results in growth inhibition and rapid plasmid loss in the presence of lysine.

Heidegger brought up the problem of "Sein", and used the specific object-"Dasein"to explain the "sein". We could get those implications from Heidegger''s work "Being and time".The essence of human beings exists in "Dasein" and human being exists in the time of past, now now and future. In the vicissitude of time keeps creating and surpassing unceasingly, and through authenticity to find self. It''s implication can be concluded into three filds as follows: 1、In educational purpose: (1)Education must guide students to search self-authenticity and to emphasize the developments of indivadual and society. (2)Education must encourge the understanding of the whole living of man. (3)Education must guide students to make oneself responsible for own choices. Abstract:
97
In the long run of the gambling process, if the gambler bets all his money at one time, he may face the crisis of bankruptcy. To promote the probability of the profit and decrease the possibility of bankruptcy, we must find out the best proportion of every bet. Kelly’s criterion supposes that the banker and the gambler keep the strategy unchanged during all the process, and the gambler can get the information of the game. Under the circumstances of correct information and noisy communication, Kelly gets the best strategy of betting for the gambler. In this paper, we spread Kelly’s criterion to gain the best way to bet in three situations:coin model, roulette model, and gambling model with noisy communication. Kelly’s criterion assumes that the game is fair; therefore, the odds are all the same. We suppose both the gambler and the banker don’t know how much the true probability is, and they guest it. The banker makes the rule of the odds, and the gambler find the best proportion of betting according to the odds.

In recent years, artificial intelligence technologies have seen a major diffusion. Despite the numerous benefits, some concerns arise around the possibility that artificial intelligence may inherit human bias. This paper addresses to what extent artificialintelligence bias is a blocker to the implementation of those technologies in recruitment. The research was developed focusing on gender bias and data was gathered through a survey-based questionnaire. Data shows that recruiters consider artificial intelligence an opportunity to improve the recruitment process, however, bias does represent a disincentiveto the implementation of those technologies.

Abstract:
98
In order to promote culture techniques for increasing the “nameko” mushroom production, the physiological and culture characteristics, and fruit-body formation of Pholiota nameko were studied in experiments. The clamp connection structure and condia of Pholiota nameko Pn-Qyo isolate could be observed on slide culture. The Pn-Qyo isolate used in experiments was identified as species of Pholiota nameko by comparison of the sequence of ribosomal DNA. The optimum temperature of mycelial growth was 24℃ and the optimum initial pH of medium was 5.0-6.0. Yeast malt agar medium was suitable for mycelia growth of P. nameko. Lactose and starch as carbon source, L-glutamine as nitrogen source were better for mycelial growth tested in Czapek agar medium. Illumination was not essential for mycelia growth and hard wood sawdust was better to mycelia growth and as spawn material comparing with pine sawdust. In nutrient supplementation experiments, 5% and 10% corn meal added to sawdust containing 5% rice bran are better for mycelial growth than of 20% corn meal supplementation, where as in rice bran supplemented to 5% sawdust containing corn meal, no rice bran added was the best for mycelial growth, the second best one 5% rice; 20% rice bran supplementation was the slowest in mycelial growth, but mycelia was denser. P. nameko grew faster on composted waste sawdust than fresh sawdust, but slower on noncomposted waste sawdust. Comparing the sawdust substrate supplemented with different amount of pangolagrass compost for mycelial growth of P. nameko, the result showed that the more amount of panglagrass compost added, the slower mycelial growth. In comparing the formulae of culture substrate reported by researchers for cultivation of P. nameko, the best substrate formula for mycelial growth was sawdust 90%, rice brane 5% and corn meal 5%; but for mushroom production, the best formula was sawdust 83% and corn meal 17% that had 31.6% of BE. In the experiments of corn meal supplementation into sawdust substrate containing 5% rice bran , the results indicated that 20% corn meal supplement could get higher BE in 38.6% from first flush harvesting, and reach to 71.6 of BE from total amount of two flushes, and the day required for harvesting after incubation in culture room was the least in 22.8 days, while in the supplementation of rice bran into sawdust containing 5% corn meal, the highest BE of 20% rice bran added was 29.0% from first flush harvesting, the day requirement in culture room was the least in 24.4 days. After mycelial full grown in the bag at 24-25℃, the mycelia moved directly into 18℃ culture room without 12℃ low temperature stimulation, got 69.5% of BE higher than that of 7 days low temperature pretreatment. Before moving into 18℃ culture room, the mycelia grown for 60 days at 24℃ got 23.4% of BE higher than that of 40 days or 45 days incubation.

Abstract:
98
This research studies the social significance of the contributions made by Hong’s Audio-Visual Library’s promotion of music culture and events, between its conception in 1973 and establishment in 1975, and between 1975 and 1988 when it underwent a major transformation. In the 1970''s, the private foundations in Taiwan were mainly engaged in providing medical relief. However, Hong''s Foundation for Education and Culture established an audio-visual library and dedicated itself to the promotion of the music culture; during that era of martial law, modest per-capita income, and limited exposure to musical culture and appreciation, the organization was a great boon for the masses who could not afford the access to music. Because the museum focused on gathering material that was rare or about to be lost, it became a treasure trove of musical resources for professional musicians; the museum’s publications’ categories revealed its emphasis on folk music collection and its support for Taiwanese composers’ works. In order to create music environment, the museum organized different types of music activities geared to respective audiences. The dissemination of musical knowledge was achieved through museum publications and broadcast media. In a short span of fifteen years, its efforts in popularizing music throughout the Taiwanese society had left a positive and indelible influence. This study explains the Library’s promotion of music and its social significance through discussions of its development process and characteristics, its music-related events and activities, its audio publications, and its interactions with the Taiwanese society.

Abstract:
107
Kueh It-Lam5’s music career and its interaction with social and culture of Taiwan. LIU, LI-MIN HUANG,YU-YUAN National cheng kung University Department of Taiwanese Literature SUMMARY Kueh Kueh It-Lam5 is not a particularly well-known person in the evolution of singing culture in Taiwan. He owns and as a producer of Nanxing Records, and is also a singer, too. He plays a different role in the change of Taiwan popular songs after world-war II. Under his talent and enthusiasm for music, the traces left in Taiwanese singing culture are still visible today. Therefore, this thesis takes Kueh It-Lam5’s singing career as the research object and discusses his singing in Taiwan about how to make adjustments constantly, making a record for his singing career. In this thesis the author divides his singing career into playing music teacher training period, Nanxing song book, Nanxing singing class, Nanxing record company, and inquiry through interview records, data collection and online communication system enquiries. In the six periods of Out of the Performing Arts Group, Karaoke, and Street Performers, Kueh It-Lam5’s life history began to compile his singing career and related chronology. Singing career of Mr. Kueh It-Lâm reveals the multi-face of Taiwan culture and its involvement within it during the mile stone of Mr. Kueh It-Lam5’s singing career. And witness the process of evolution of Taiwan popular song also. He growth from minor capital singing career to nationwide enterprise, and marching toward Japanese entertainment area. He experienced the great change of Taiwan popular songs. Then he transformed his enterprise to“local-style”performing arts business, therefore, he could interactive with people directly. He has great enthusiasm in Taiwan popular songs, and firm belief with the sense of locality and locality as the center of identity. According to Kueh It-Lam5’s songs, the information on the time points of the business shows that we can trace back the early microcosm of the development history of Taiwanese songs and the trend of modern Taiwanese popular song culture. Key word:Kueh It-Lam5’s,Tainan,Taiwanese pop song, music career, social and culture INTRODUCTION The study of this thesis is composed by Mr. Kueh It-Lam5’s interviewing , his oral history and personal preservation related data, and existing songs, record study. To systematically perform the evolution of culture in Taiwanese songs. There are two main points for this study of Kueh It-Lam5’s singing career : Nanxing record company on 1960, performing arts business after 1980. And focus on analyzing related action between his song and people interaction. MATERIAL AND METHODS In the chapter “Developing of nationwide singing career”, focus on interview of the field investigation. The table id made by songs, people data from Mr. Kueh It-Lâm and interview of his crews, supplemented by the photos, literal data in “song book”. The chapter of “Grass stage: Tour team performance and management, and understand the music transmission of the singing career” is made by films uploaded on internet from Mr. Kueh It-Lam5’s wife, Mrs. Cai Bingbing. RESULTS AND DISCUSSION The study of this thesis focus on the career Mr. Kueh It-Lam5’s singing career, and well know that there is strong connection between his singing career and Taiwanese singing culture. Mr. Kueh It-Lâm was blooded from publishing, the vary first job is musician, then became the owner of song class, the owner of record company. And he also play the roles of singer, composer. And then, he made a art show team for foreshore, a owner of Kala-OK. Just the spirit of Taiwanese culture, he never say “NO”to the challenge, so that he can make his own style in the Taiwan local song environment. Mr. Kueh It-Lâm has strong relationship with the famous singer , Mr. Wenxia and Mr. Hong Yifeng. As a view of a owner, he can recognize a lot of true under table. The funny thing is, compare to those famous singer, Kueh It-Lâm is not so famous. He had said, Wenxia has the connection with audient with his “sound”, but Guo did not have that special “sound”. It is a very interesting thing that “sound” can make audient moved. CONCLUTION Upon the change of Taiwan culture, Mr. Kueh It-Lam5’s song career follow the tide of it. Further more, he make a multi-faced style of his song. The Nanxing Records not only record the change of Taiwan sociality, but also make a revolution of Taiwan local culture. Guo had held the spirit, and make his music follow the culture. Analyzing the performing action, the early song business found by Kueh It-Lâm is a borderless popular culture. Even he quit the Taiwan market due to the change of popular culture, but he migrate to Japan and make his own place. After end of material law, he develops a local-style music activity. Hope the thesis can leave a evidence to viewing the change of Taiwan social culture. And declare the development of Taiwan popular song via Mr. Kueh It-Lam5’s life history.

Abstract:
95
Venerable Hsu-Yun was born in Chuan-Zhou County, Fujian Province, in the 20th year of the Dao-Guang reign of the Ching dynasty, i.e. 1840 AD. His family originated in Xiang-Xiang, Hunan Province. He died in 1959 at the age of 120. Since his childhood, he aspired to a life beyond the earthly world. At the age of nineteen, he embarked on a religious life at Yung-Quan Temple at Gu Mountain, Fujian Province, where he was formally received as a novice after shaved by Master Chang-Kai and pledged adherence to the teachings of the Buddha with Master Miao-Lian as the witness. He had since become a Buddhist monk. Hsu-Yun found himself attracted to the teachings of Ch’an Buddhism and was devoted to the study of “who is the chanting one.” Thirty-seven years of solitary study and stoic living eventually led him to the realization that the mind was originally empty and clear. Everything there was illusory; nothing was constant. The only way out of worry and pain was through giving up dwelling on things and through an indiscriminative mind. To share what he had with the general public, he set out spreading the ideas of Buddhism, hoping to benefit others, an effort that lasted for sixty years. He explained the Buddhist texts, preached, established a lecture to pass on the teachings, and guided the way to Ch’an mediation. For those who did not seem to be benefiting from his approach, who were open-minded and having no prejudice for other sects, he would teach them approaches to Nembutsu practice instead. Over his decades of endeavor, more than 80 temples of all sizes and of all kinds were built, the most important ones being the reconstruction of Yin-Xiang Temple (Zhu-Shen Temple) at Ji-Zu Mountain, and Hua-Ting Temple at Kun-Ming, both in Yunnan Province, Yung-Quan Temple at Gu Mountain, Fujian Province, Nan-Hua Temple at Cao-Xi and Da-Jue Temple at Yun-Men Mountain, both in Guangdong Province, and Zhen-Ru Temple at Yun-Ju Mountain, Jiangxi Province. These temples were the six most famous of Ch’an Buddhism. By the time of Hsu-Yun, three of the five Ch’an Buddhism sects had been in decline, including Gui-Yang sect, Fa-Yan sect, and Yun-Men sect. The two exceptions were Lin-Ji sect and Cao-Dong sect. He based his ideas on Lin-Ji sect but also revived the other four sects, significantly contributing to Ch’an Buddhism as one who passed on the teachings of the old masters and inspired future generations. In the years of the Hong-Hua reign, the country was in desperate condition and the people had little peace of mind and lived in poverty. The Master was faced with frequent challenges, but he never gave up and saw failures as the drive to go on. Not feeling proud when things went the desired way and not losing his temper when frustrated, he had been freed from the control of the environment. He had as many as fifteen meditation sessions, but never even rested in the room for masters of his rank. Taking nothing more than he had brought, he had none for himself. There was no such thing that he could not get over, and was happy wherever he was. Nor was there anything that bothered him. For everything he did, he would not dwell on it. Nor could he be tempted into anything. His mind was always clear and pure. These made him who he was and earned him the reputation as one of the four greatest Buddhist masters of recent history.

Abstract:
Online dependencies have been described as a phenomenon arising from the systematic use of sophisticated Information and Communication Technologies (ICT’s). The main objective of the present study is the construction and validation of a new scale based on a model built on Online Time Perception (POUT). The study purported to understand the relationship between this new instrument of measure and Internet addiction. As well as the level of association between the five identified personality traits and the new scale POUT. A total of 1106 subjects of portuguese nationality (F = 549, M = 558), aged 11 to 80 years (M = 31.8; SD = 14.4) participated. The results obtained in this sample, revealed that the new scale POUT presents a unifactorial structure with satisfactory metric qualities. Further confirmatory analysis demonstrated acceptable adjustment index levels with the one-factor solution. A composite reliability of .91 and α = .92 were identified. The analysis demonstrated that the scale sets a positive correlation with Online dependence and that such is positively and negatively associated with some personality traits. It was concluded that the POUT may be a relevant and practical factor to understand the emergence of behavior dependencies which are associated with the use of ICT’s.

Abstract:
89
An Elementary School Principal''''''''s Instructional Supervision: Its Impact on School Teachers'''''''' Instructional Effectiveness Yu-ling Chian Abstract The present study aimed at investigating the impact of an elementary school principal''''''''s instructional supervision on teachers'''''''' instructional effectiveness. The purpose of the study was as follows: 1.To investigate the possibility of using the study''''''''s findings as a model for Taiwan by exploring the role and work of the elementary school principal and the meaning and the state of the art of instructional effectiveness and related research; 2.To explore the changes in teachers'''''''' perceptions of instructional efficacy in the pre-observation stage and the post-observation stage; 3.To explore teachers'''''''' views of the principal''''''''s instructional supervision; 4.To explore the changes in individual teacher''''''''s instructional effectiveness; 5.To explore students'''''''' feedback to their teacher in terms of the teacher''''''''s instructional effectiveness; 6.To explore the knowledge and understanding of the teachers involved in the study with respect to instructional effectiveness; 7.To explore the relationships between the teacher''''''''s self -awareness of her effectiveness and the results from the principal''''''''s observation of teachers'''''''' classroom teaching; and 8.To raise conclusions and recommendations for future use in school principal''''''''s observation of classroom teaching. In terms of research methodology, the present study used literature analysis and case study as the main methods of study, complemented with observation and survey research methods using questionnaire and interview. Four teachers at the Mandarin Experimental Primary School, Taipei were asked to participate in the present study. Instruments used were "Teachers'''''''' Self-Awareness Checklist of Instructional Effectiveness and Instructional Supervision System" and "Measures of Standards of Effective Instructional Supervision and Observation Measures" designed by Dr. Li Po, complemented by the following two instruments made by the researcher herself: "Teachers'''''''' Reflections on Instructional Supervision" and "Measures of Student Feedback in Instructional Effectiveness." Qualitative data in the present study were analyzed, which constituted the bulk of the study, while quantitative data analysis was also conducted where applicable. Main findings of the present study are stated below. 1.Elementary school principals are urged to conduct instructional supervision more, to enhance teachers'''''''' instructional effectiveness; 2.The meaning of instructional effectiveness needs to be clarified further. Workshops and other inservice delivery methods can be conducted to promote principals'''''''' and teachers'''''''' knowledge and understanding of instructional effectiveness; 3.Instructional supervision is instrumental in helping teachers teach better and more confidently. However, the practice of instructional supervision has remained in the wait-and-see stage because of lack of publicity and training as well as lack of time; 4.Relevant rules and regulations and a well-established system of instructional supervision should be in place and an sufficient pool of human resources with expertise in instructional effectiveness should be available; 5.School site instructional supervision can evoke teachers'''''''' self-reflection and self-awareness, which serves as a prerequisite to their knowledge and understanding of the substance and methods of effective teaching, and further to that, as a way of enhancing teachers'''''''' instructional effectiveness; 6.The present study confirms that an elementary principal''''''''s instructional supervision is instrumental in enhancing teachers'''''''' instructional effectiveness. Recommendations to educational administration authorities: 1.Select schools which are willing to conduct principal''''''''s instructional supervision of teachers; 2.Move schools to start the practice of principal''''''''s instructional supervision by selecting schools willing to join in the endeavor; 3.Conduct training programs in instructional supervision by recruiting and selecting appropriate principals, assistant principals, and veteran and outstanding teachers to serve as instructional supervisors; 4.Create clusters of schools or a community of various schools to collaborate in instructional supervision at the school organization level. Websites can be established for schools to share instructional supervision resources; and 5.Restructure schools to divide school personnel''''''''s work and enhance cooperation within the school and across schools. Recommendations to schools: 1.The principal can set an excellent example for her faculty by putting instructional supervision work on the move in her school; 2.An instructional supervision committee can be established in school to facilitate instructional supervision; 3.Teachers'''''''' Council in school and the school administration team can collaborate in promoting and implementing instructional supervision work; and 4.The school administration team can give teachers more autonomy and flexibility to facilitate instructional supervision. Recommendations to teachers: 1.Teachers are urged to attend inservice sessions in instructional supervision; 2.Teachers are urged to conduct self-directed instructional supervision; 3.Teachers are urged to make up instructional supervision teams to perform peer supervision of instruction; 4.Teachers are urged to hold a positive attitude and keep abreast of the times to promote their professional knowledge and skills and to develop their sense of autonomy. Recommendations for future research: 1.Future researchers are urged to do more review of literature in non-English speaking languages; 2.Future researchers are urged to use school-site ad-hoc committees or peer coaching service and/or across-schools instructional supervision committees to perform instructional supervision in future research. In the present study, the elementary school principal as researcher was the only person to perform instructional supervision; 3.Future researchers are urged to use a larger sample in their research studies. In the present study, only four teachers were included, which is a relative small sample; 4.Future researchers are urged to use research instruments that can better suit the needs of local teachers as long as time and human resources permit and as long as it is within the reach of instrument designer''''''''s ability. In the present study, some research instruments were used because they happened to be available. Others were simply adapted observation measures and checklists.

90
The main aims of this thesis are to inquiry Adorno’s aesthetics and its implications for aesthetic education. Firstly, the author elaborate the background of Adorno’s aesthetics and his methodological basis--negative dialectics. Secondly, based on two central ideas of ‘ideology’ and ‘truth’ in Adorno’s aesthetics, this thesis inducts them as two parts--aesthetic politics and theory of art truth--and interprets them separately. Finally, the author develop the theory of aesthetic education of critical approach based on Adorno’s aesthetics and review some problems in the theory and practice of aesthetic education. Several conclusions are made as follows: 1.Arts have the power to stop circles of enlightenment myth. 2.Negative dialectics are the methodological basis of Adorno’s aesthetics. 3.Cultural industry implies the principles of manipulating the people of fascism. 4.Modernism arts should keep autonomy to possess the power of resisting the identity principles of capitalism and totalitarianism. 5.Truth content of arts are the unconscious writing of history. 6.The theory of aesthetic education of critical approach claims that aesthetic education should focus on aspects of social critic. It can complements the deficiencies of aesthetic education at present. Some suggestions are made as follows: 1.Scholars should increase the studies about aspects of social, culture and ideology in aesthetic education. 2.We can engaged in empirical studies about functions of critical aesthetic education further. 3.Aesthetic education should not just focus on the training of creative technics and art appreciation, but also emphasize the aspects of cultural critic and social critic. 4.Teachers should cultivate students having the autonomous personality and let them become the ‘cultural critics’. 5.Aesthetic teaching should discover and criticize the essences of social contradictions in arts and cultures as well as the history memory of sufferings. 6.Schooling should add the activities of contacting nature in aesthetic education. 7.Aesthetic education should be a subject and cultivate the ability of teachers to analyze cultural problems in daily life for teacher education.

Abstract:
83
This Study consists of seven chapters in which are divided into twenty parts altogether, amount to approximately 100,000 words or so. The first chapter is a brief explanation: Su Shi, who has the greatest artistic temperament in Chinese Art history, wiht an introduction and a description of his aesthetics and metap- hysics. Chapter Two gives a general overview of culture and envir- onment during the Northern Song in which Su Shi lived. With an age for a background, Su Tungpo made himself intellectual and artistic. Chapter Three traces the philosophical evolution of Orie- ntal ideas of Confucianism, Buddhism, Daoism and Neo-Confuci- anism. Su Shi, being based on these philosophical thoughts, cultivated himself as an aesthete. Chapter Four explores the style of Tung-po''''s art works(p- oetry, compositions, calligraphy and paintings) in detail. From Tung Po''''s art works we can trace some of the aesthetic and met- aphysical links between the style, ideas and imagery. His family influences, Buddhist and Taoist friends and teachers all served as inspiration and confirmation for his creation. Chaper five presents Tung Po''''s Aesthetic themes (nature, soul and essential harmony "[shen]神and [yun]韻", aesthetic t- aste and image "[ching chieh]境界and [yihsiang]意象", refresh- ing style and plainess and so on), which are his aesthetic cor- es, and will be elucidated as complete as possible, and they constitue the very significance of his Aesthetics. Chapter Six is a discussion about the revelation of Tung Po''''s Aesthetic thoughts toward modern life. That is: the embo- diment of Tung Po''''s Aesthetic into actions (art instruction, art criticism and art creation and so on), only this revelation is well understood and applied, could we catch the modernity of Tung Po''''s Aesthetics. The conclusion integrates all dimensions of the influence of Su Tung-po''''s Aesthetics and its modernity. This study, based on above analysis, focuses on three vi- ewpoints which vary to my predecessors and are original. These different aspects are as following: This study attempts to elucidate the context with diagrams-- namely, each diagram as a scheme affords a distinct outlook on the dissertation. This study has suggestedd three levels of meaning: The ontological or existential meaning: To see " the world in a grain of sand ". The creative meaning: To see " a heaven in a wild flower " and to " hold infinity in the palm of your hand ". The phenomenological or consummate meaning: The " eternity in an hour ". From ancient to modern time, the outstanding Tung Po not only sets a good example for us but also inspires us to have qualit- ative thinking, aesthetic problem solving the mode of qualitat- ive intelligence and so on. Hence, Tung Po has created a unique style that belongs not only to the ancient or modern time ,to the East or the West, but also to the whole world. Tung Po has created an instance of immanent beauty.

Abstract:
92
US-Japan´s Alliance And Its Geopolitics Strategy Implication After the Cold War Shih-Jung Tung Abstract After the Cold War, the U.S. emphasized the framework of U.S.-Japan´s alliance is the core of east Asian strategy. Her reason is instability and uncertainty still exist in the region, especially the economic development of mainland China arising her political and military powers is considered the potential threat to the peace and stability of this area. To this, both the U.S. and Japan suggest that only reinforce bilateral cooperation under the U.S.-Japan security relations can ensure and assert the present situation or condition of the east Asia. After they signed bilateral “The Guidelines for U.S.-Japan Defense Cooperation” in 1997, some reactions of the related countries of the east Asia appeared because of different recognition. The purpose of this research is to obtain the explanation of the motivation and goals of U.S.-Japan alliance through the geo-strategic viewpoint to probe the reconfirmation of U.S.-Japan alliance. The paper discusses from the past history of the U.S.-Japan alliance. The military cooperation is more workable than the Cold War period. The research discovers three great changes: Firstly, the defense scope of U.S.-Japan´s alliance extended. They used the unclear words ‘situations in areas around’as official formal explanation but strengthen specific contents in the related laws. Secondly, they strengthened the cooperation mainly on logistics support, hiding the fighting model of command, control, communication and intelligence. Thirdly, Japan tries to participate PKO overseas to build her image of peace, expects to adjust the impedimental laws and the name of SDF so that she can fit to the requirement of ‘normal state’ and get the legitimacy for further military actions. We find out in the research of geo-strategic theories that the reconfirmation of U.S.-Japan alliance and positive cooperation are the results of the reaction to the plight of strategic defect in east Asian region and lacking of the mastery of the seas that caused because the U.S. Army could not maintain the agreement of Philippine base in 1992. Requiring Japan to endure more responsibilities to ‘situations in areas around’ according to the framework of U.S.-Japan alliance to make up the lack of strategic posture and bases of the U.S. She strengthens positively the relations among countries of Southeastern region to rent logistic equipments by means of ‘places not-bases’. In the post-911 era, the U.S. connected the framework of U.S.-Japan alliance and southeastern Asia by the issue of anti-terrorism. Japan participates the training and maneuver positively in southeast Asia because she treats the mastery of the seas the lifeblood of her national security. The geopolitics strategic implication is: The U.S. sets up in advance the strategic posture of surrounding to strengthen the joint of U.S.-Japan alliance and southeast Asia by the view of ‘regional defense,’ to reinforce US-Japan alliance and join southeast Asia anti-terrorism becomes the unsure reason of future in east Asia and the strategic posture of containment strategy to be ‘set up in advance.’ To maintain the present situation of east Asia region has the restrictive function because of the reconfirmation of U.S.-Japan and positive cooperation. However, purchasing power or military balance brings negative influences as the U.S. and Japan approach to their great profits at the same time. The unease of countries around and the arm races become much more obvious. Key words:U.S.-Japan alliance;geopolitics strategy;geo-strategy
