Abstract:
Abstract. High-resolution tomographic images of the crust and upper mantle in and around the area of the 2011 Iwaki earthquake (M 7.0) and the Fukushima nuclear power plant are determined by inverting a large number of high-quality arrival times with both the finite-frequency and ray tomography methods. The Iwaki earthquake and its aftershocks mainly occurred in a boundary zone with strong variations in seismic velocity and Poisson's ratio. Prominent low-velocity and high Poisson's ratio zones are revealed under the Iwaki source area and the Fukushima nuclear power plant, which may reflect fluids released from the dehydration of the subducting Pacific slab under Northeast Japan. The 2011 Tohoku-oki earthquake (Mw 9.0) caused static stress transfer in the overriding Okhotsk plate, resulting in the seismicity in the Iwaki source area that significantly increased immediately following the Tohoku-oki mainshock. Our results suggest that the Iwaki earthquake was triggered by the ascending fluids from the Pacific slab dehydration and the stress variation induced by the Tohoku-oki mainshock. The similar structures under the Iwaki source area and the Fukushima nuclear power plant suggest that the security of the nuclear power plant site should be strengthened to withstand potential large earthquakes in the future.

Ashford, Miriam T., Ellinor K. Olander, Heather Rowe, Jane RW Fisher, and Susan Ayers. "Feasibility and Acceptability of a Web-Based Treatment with Telephone Support for Postpartum Women With Anxiety: Randomized Controlled Trial." JMIR Mental Health 5, no. 2 (April 20, 2018): e19. http://dx.doi.org/10.2196/mental.9106.

Full text
Abstract:
Background Postpartum anxiety can have adverse effects on the mother and child if left untreated. Time constraints and stigma are common barriers to postpartum treatment. Web-based treatments offer potential flexibility and anonymity. What Am I Worried About (WaWa) is a self-guided treatment based on cognitive-behavioral and mindfulness principles for women experiencing postpartum anxiety. WaWa was developed in Australia and consists of 9 modules with optional weekly telephone support. WaWa was adapted to a Web-based version for use in England (Internet-based What Am I Worried About, iWaWa). Objective This study aimed to investigate the feasibility (engagement and usability) and acceptability (usefulness, satisfaction, and helpfulness) of iWaWa among English postpartum women with anxiety. Methods Postpartum (<12 months) women with mild-to-severe anxiety were recruited anonymously via social media during an 8-week period. Participants were randomized to the iWaWa treatment (8 weeks) or wait-list control group. Treatment and study feasibility and acceptability were assessed after the treatment, and anxiety symptoms were assessed at baseline, 8 weeks postrandomization, and 12 weeks postrandomization (treatment group only) using Web-based questionnaires. Semistructured telephone interviews were carried out after the treatment period for a more in-depth exploration of treatment acceptability and feasibility. Results A total of 89 eligible women were recruited through social media and randomized into the treatment (n=46) or wait-list control group (n=43). Women were predominantly Caucasian, well-educated, married, on maternity leave, first-time mothers and reported moderate levels of anxiety. Dropout rates were high, especially in the treatment group (treatment: 82%, 38/46; wait-list control: 51%, 22/43). A total of 26 women started iWaWa with only 2 women completing all 9 modules. Quantitative and qualitative data suggest iWaWa was experienced as generally useful and helpful. Participants enjoyed iWaWa’s accessibility, anonymity, and weekly reminders, as well as the introduction to the principles of cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and mindfulness. However, iWaWa was also experienced as not user-friendly enough, too long, and not smartphone-friendly. Parts of the content were experienced as not always relevant and appropriate. Participants felt that iWaWa could be improved by having it in a smartphone app format and by making the content more concise and inclusive of different parenting styles. Conclusions Despite interest in iWaWa, the results suggest that both the study and iWaWa were not feasible in the current format. However, this first trial provides useful evidence about treatment format and content preferences that can inform iWaWa’s future development, as well as research and development of Web-based postpartum anxiety treatments, in general, to optimize adherence. Abstract:
Introduction: We are trying to create a platform for social innovation to extend life span. Methods: Since 2005, health data (approximately 3000 items per person as of 2020) of approximately 1000 adults have been collected each year during the Iwaki Health Promotion Project. The industry, government, academia, and citizens have involvements in data collection, aiming to build a platform that encourages societal innovation and subsequently extends life expectancy in Aomori. The Iwaki Health Promotion Project has been supported financially by the Japanese government since it was selected as the Center of Innovation program in 2013. Results: Since the numbers of academia, industries, governments, and citizens involved in the Iwaki Health Promotion Project increased over the years, the big data produced during the project has become increasingly pluripotent and adaptable. It has been used to promote public health, which has also created a stronger partnership among companies and research organizations. Consequently, the amount of data collected from the project has gained attention and became more open to companies and researchers participating in the Iwaki Health Promotion Project, resulted in establishing a larger platform. It also led to the acquisition of external funding, publications of numerous research papers, creation of new health examinations, and the establishment of the Health Promotion Center (an institution for cultivating health volunteers). Conclusion: The Iwaki Health Promotion Project aims not only to produce a pluripotent big data but also to improve the average life expectancy of Aomori by creating a large platform in the society. Its positive impact in the future is infinite and will keep growing as long as it is maintained by the society.

Nuclear Technology and Radiation Protection 34, no. 2 (2019): 201–8. http://dx.doi.org/10.2298/ntrp181015011k.

Full text
Abstract:
Radioactive decontamination waste generated by remediation following the Fukushima nuclear power plant accident was recently transported from its temporary storage sites to interim storage facilities as a pilot test. A transportation plan for the radioactive decontamination waste will be developed based on this pilot transportation experience and radiological safety assessment of pilot transportation. The objective of this study was to assess radiation doses to the public and crew workers released during incident-free pilot transportation. External dose rates around a transportation vehicle were calculated by using the Monte Carlo N-Particle code. Collective doses and maximally exposed individual doses to the public and effective doses to crew workers were calculated by using INTERTRAN. Two transportation routes, Asakawa-machi to Okuma-machi and Iwaki-shi to Okuma-machi, were considered. The maximum radioactivity concentration in the decontamination waste was calculated to be 660 kBqkg?1 which meets the value laid down by the guidelines of Japan's Ministry of the Environment. The collective doses to the public per shipment were 1.9 10?3 person-mSv for the Asakawa route and 2.2 10?4 person-mSv for the Iwaki route. Maximally exposed individual doses to the public were 9.6 10?7 mSv for the Asakawa route and 2.7 10?5 mSv for the Iwaki route. The total effective doses to crew workers were 0.27 mSv for the Asakawa route assuming five shipments per worker and 1.07 mSv for the Iwaki route assuming 45 shipments per worker. The radiation dose levels to the public and workers evaluated in this study were much lower than the annual dose limits for the general public and radiation workers. These study results can be used to develop transportation plans and guidelines for decontamination waste transportation.

Abstract:
Corporate social responsibility (CSR) is now considered to be one of the most important activities for companies as it greatly affects both companies and local communities. This study analyzes the effects of corporate social responsibility activities on the life recovery of employees. A questionnaire survey on the Great East Japan Earthquake Disaster in Iwaki City (Fukushima, Japan) was conducted. Iwaki City was among the areas most severely affected by the disaster. The effect of CSR activities on the life recovery of employees was analyzed by structural equation modeling. Life recovery largely depended on health and human relationships. CSR activities related to these two factors, such as work–life balance and local community activities, increased the life recovery of employees. Companies have large resources for improving local community resilience and local communities can recover from a disaster in a timely and effective manner when companies provide appropriate assistance. This study reveals how companies can contribute to the recovery of local communities through their CSR activities.

The purpose of this research is to identify the dimensions of Entrepreneurial Intentions on women entrepreneurs in IWAPI Bandung City who are middle aged by using Model Intention Entrepreneurial Event of Shapero (SEE). This research use qualitative descriptive case study (case study). The type of sampling that used in this research is Sampling Network who also called Mechanical Snowball (Snowball Sampling) and there are 4 respondents that researcher pick based on criteria that fit the theme of research. All of them are members of IWAPI Bandung City that truly pioneering efforts from the beginning, either to level SME or entrepreneur with a greater level. The results showed that the triggering factors (trigger event) are dominated by the experience of having negative than positive displacement pull and there is only one respondent who experienced both. According to the SEE theory, perceived desirability dimension does not affect the decision of all respondents in entrepreneurship so that they do not really care the public opinion about the role of women as entrepreneurs because there is not any respondents who own desire from the beginning to be an entrepreneur. The main factors that need to be considered is Perceived Feasibility because it proves that a woman entrepreneur with high confidence is capable to maximize the potential of her resources.

AbstractThis study considers a pure exchange economy with insurance against ambiguous loss. Ambiguity preferences are represented by the dual theory of the smooth ambiguity model from Iwaki and Osaki (2014). The economic premium principle of Bühlmann (1980, 1984) is extended to ambiguity. We also perform some comparative statics and present sufficient conditions under which an increase in ambiguity aversion increases insurance demand and insurance premiums. Contrary to the result in Tsanakas and Christofides (2006), the optimal demand for insurance is not always comonotonic, because our model permits an economy comprising both ambiguity averse and ambiguity loving agents.

Abstract:
Expanding the range of functional food products is one of the important tasks of the Russian state policy to improve the population health. Water bioresources due to their high biological value consists of the potential for creating such products. The article presents the technological characteristics of the Pacific salted sardine (iwasi) as a promising highfat raw material rich in valuable natural lipids for multi-component emulsion products. The Pacific sardine (ivasi) extracted in the far East is a mass object of marine fishing. However, the food production from the sardines is currently limited by frozen and salted fish. In order to expand the food product range from the Pacific sardine (ivasi), the paper concerns the technological parameters of the salted fish production process and justification of its use as a basis for emulsion systems. The authors present technological scheme for obtaining salted Pacific sardine (iwashi) from frozen fish. The dynamic analysis of proteolysis indicators during the storage period of salted sardines indicates an active accumulation of protein breakdown products during the protein component destruction. Organoleptic assessment of salted fish performed in the third and fourth months of storage showed that, in the absence of discrediting organoleptic signs in the samples under study, a man recorded the destruction of the abdominal area in the fourth month of storage. The rheological studies results of finely ground muscle tissue of salted sardines, in comparison with frozen fish, demonstrate an increase in these indicators in the proteolysis process. Biochemical, rheological and organoleptic characteristics of salted Pacific sardine (iwasi) in the fourth month of storage indicate its high raw material potential for use in the technology of emulsion products.

Abstract:
ABSTRACT Introduction The golden proportion has been used in dentistry in an attempt to improve facial function and, possibly, esthetics by simplifying the diagnosis of facial and dental disharmony. The aim of this study is to analyze pre- and postoperative cephalometric tracings of lateral cephalograms of patients with class II and III deformities submitted to orthognathic surgery, and verify if the 13 dental–skeletal patterns (ratios), as defined by Ricketts, moved closer to or further away from the golden proportion. Materials and methods A total of 110 lateral cephalometric radiographs, 55 obtained preoperatively and 55 postoperatively, were analyzed using Dolphin Imaging software. Results Radiographs analysis demonstrated that ratios 1, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 9, 10, and 13 remained statistically different from the golden proportion postoperatively. Ratio 12 was the only one to move closer to the golden number, while the opposite happened with ratio 6, which moved further away after the surgery. Ratios 2 and 11 kept statistically similar to the golden proportion both pre and postoperatively. Conclusion It may be concluded that orthognathic surgery had little effect on the proportions studied, and that the golden proportion was not present in the majority of the ratios analyzed neither before nor after surgery. Clinical significance Determine whether the facial patterns approach the golden ratio after surgical correction. Also determine whether the golden ratio may be a standard to guide the surgical treatment of patients with skeletal patterns of type II and III.
