Alvarsson, Carin, and Hana Ilkhechoie. Thesis, Södertörn University College, School of Business Studies, 2007. http://urn.kb.se/resolve?urn=urn:nbn:se:sh:diva-1264.

Full textGeriatric care is an important part of the welfare system and in focus for the community debate. Relevant issues are the quality of the care, access to care, economical means as well as care in the future with all its aspects. Work conditions are considered to be more stressing than other professions. The purpose of this study is to investigate and analyze crucial factors for the motivation and work satisfaction in a stressing work with elderly and whether the employees are motivated by these. Based on this purpose, the following questions were raised: How does motivation and work satisfaction for employees in geriatric care look like? Which factors have a connection to motivation and work satisfaction for employees in geriatric care? Are there any differences between employees in municipal and private sectors?I use a quantitative method, based on questionnaire to acquire a general picture of the factors for motivation and work satisfaction. I employ Maslow´s Hierarchy of Needs and Alderfer´s ERG-theory in my study. The result of my study reveals that the general work motivation within geriatric care is on a medial level. The employees do not sense any general dissatisfaction with the situation but the employers should increase focus on physical and psychosocial work environment, schedules and relaxation as well as rewards. A pleasant atmosphere and comfort between colleagues are factors, which are connected with work motivation and satisfaction.

Malmö University: Faculty of Health and Society, Department of Social Work, 2018. The purpose of this qualitative study was to investigate young adults with anorectal malformations and Hirschsprung disease with a focus on issues relating to sexuality, relationship to the body and social interactions. The study also aimed to highlight the groups’ needs during the handover from pediatrics to adult care. The empirical data in the study involve three different focus group interviews conducted with groups formed on basis of diagnosis and sex. In total, 13 respondents participated. The content analysis conducted focused on five different themes: family and friends, work and leisure, health, sex and relationships, and the body. The study indicates that the diseases to some extent affect the respondents in everyday life and that they use different coping strategies to deal with the problems that arise. Furthermore, it is clear that several of the respondents have difficulty in getting support and help in the adult care, and thus that there is a need for a more developed transition between pediatrics and adult care. The respondents also jointly expressed a joy of livingKeywords: anorectal malformations, Hirschsprung disease, sexuality, sexual health

Full textRisk is a part of all human activity. To be able to predict the unknown has been a problem of mankind since the ancient Greeks and forward in history. To find a model or method in order to foreseetomorrow with a probability close to certainty has been and is still a big challenge. The purposeof this paper is to clarify the concept of risk and put it in relation to how it is used in theSwedish Armed Forces to day. This essay covers the history of ideas of risk from ancient historyto modern times. To widen the conception and create un understanding of the process of decisionmaking, a part of the paper deals with the cognitive process and some of the common pitfallswithin it. With this foundation in the concept of risk the Swedish Armed Forces model are scrutinizedand compared to other models alike. The pros and cons are described. Finally some suggestionsto develop the model are given in order to make it a valuable tool in support of the new expeditionaryarmed forces. It is the author’s ambition that this essay will contribute to the readerspersonal knowledge about risk and risk management.
