Abstract:
Jahangir succeeded his father, Akbar after the latter stabilised Mughal rule in India. Although there are arguments that Jahangir did not achieve successes like his father, there were some endeavours by Jahangir which strengthened the continuity of Mughal rule. Hence, the purpose of this article is to examine his efforts to consolidate Mughal rule in India in his time. On the whole, this is a qualitative research using the methods of historical study and content analysis. Data was collected from primary and secondary sources and analysed. Research findings show that Jahangir was more focused on domestic development such as proclaiming Dustur al-Amal for administration. He also succeeded in putting down rebellions and developed culture and arts, including architecture. His own personality as a leader inclined him to be a patron of the arts, intellectual and cultural activities, as well as a believer of legal principles for social justice. Akbars policy of expanding territories was not Jahangirs priority because he gave more attention to managing the crises of rebellion in Mughal territory.

Abstract:
Relying on the Majalis-i Jahangiri (1608–11) by ʿAbd al-Sattar b. Qasim Lahauri, this essay explores some of the discussions the Mughal Emperor Jahangir (r. 1605–27) conducted with a wide range of scholars, from Brahmans and ʿulama to Jesuit padres and Jewish savants. By far the most numerous, the debates bearing on Islam and involving Muslim intellectuals are especially significant on several accounts. First, because they illuminate how, following in the steps of his father Akbar (r. 1556–605), Jahangir was able to conciliate his messianic claims with a strong engagement with reason and to turn this combination into a formidable instrument for confession and state building. These conversations also provide promising avenues to think afresh the socio-intellectual history of the Mughal ʿulama inasmuch as they capture the challenges and adjustments attendant on imperial patronage, depict the jockeying for influence and positions among intellectuals (particularly between Indo-Muslim and Iranian lettrés), and shed light on relatively little known figures or on unexplored facets of more prominent individuals. In addition, the specific role played by scholars hailing from Iran—and, to a lesser extent, from Central Asia—in the juridical-religious disputes of the Indian court shows how crucial inter-Asian connections and networks were in the fashioning of Mughal ideology but also the ways in which the ongoing flow of émigré ʿulama was disciplined before being incorporated into the empire.

Abstract:
This article begins with a discussion of a more-than-life-sized portrait of Jahangir (r. 1605–27) that is surrounded by verses in twenty-six cartouches. These verses are of special interest because they are the connecting link between a series of “allegorical paintings” made for Jahangir and the new concept of sovereignty devised for his father, Akbar, who had ordered the scholar Abuʼl-Fazl to develop a system of legitimization to emancipate him from the endorsement of the chief religious authorities of Islam. The pivotal terms of this new ideology, ṣūrat and maʿnī, are found throughout Abuʼl-Fazl’s Akbarnāma, and they turn up again in the cartouches of Jahangir’s portrait. To understand the meaning of these verses, it is necessary to consider the system of legitimation conceived by Abuʼl-Fazl. The verses then provide valuable information for the interpretation of some portraits of Jahangir and Shah Jahan.

The paper investigates prime labeling of Jahangir graph Jn,m for n ≥ 2, m ≥ 3 provided that nm is even. We discuss prime labeling of some graph operations viz. Fusion, Switching and Duplication to prove that the Fusion of two vertices v1 and vk where k is odd in a Jahangir graph Jn,m results to prime graph provided that the product nm is even and is relatively prime to k. The Fusion of two vertices vnm + 1 and vk for any k in Jn, m is prime. The switching of vk in the cycle Cnm of the Jahangir graph Jn,m is a prime graph provided that nm+1 is a prime number and the switching of vnm+1 in Jn, m is also a prime graph .Duplicating of vk, where k is odd integer and nm + 2 is relatively prime to k,k+2 in Jn,m is a prime graph.

Lefèvre, Corinne. "Pouvoir et élites dans l'empire Moghol de Jahangir (r. 1605-1627)." Paris, EHESS, 2005. http://www.theses.fr/2005EHES0013.

Full text
Abstract:
Among all the emperors of what has sometimes been termed the Mughal "golden age" (1556-1707), Jahangir (1605-1627) is certainly the one whose political competence has been deemed the weakest. Systematically described as a pale continuator of his famous predecessor Akbar, he is also vilified for having given up the reins of government to his favorite wife Nur Jahan. Reacting against the ill tretaments which have been inflicted on Jahangir by historians since the colonial period, this work offers a thorough re-examination of his reign. First of all, the prologue brings to light the historiographical processes which have presid over the construction of the image of political incapability associated with this sovereign. As for the body of the work, it subjects the jahangirid imperium to an analysis crossing different viewpoints. The point of view adopted in the first part is that of the monarch himself and leads to an exhaustive study of the imperial discourses (memoirs, paintings, buildings, coins) : taken together, these productions show that Jahangir's political sense was quite as actue as his father's. The second part deals with their lord and master (co-operation, resistance, revolt), through the analysis of a series of texts belonging to the genre of subimperial literature. Based on contemporary chronicles, the archives of several religious establishments and Sufi literature, the third part examines the mainlines of Jahangir's religious policy and the way some ulama and Sufis reacted to it. Finally, the epilogue opens the discussion by exploring the relations between the Mughal Empire and two of three other great contemporary Muslim powers, the Safavid and Uzbel dynasties

Abstract:
This article provides brief scientific information about the jagird system of land ownership in the territory of the Great Babur state. Zahirad-Din Muhammad Babur (1483-1530), the founder of the great Babur state, left Movarunnahr and settled in Kabul in 1504 and gradually expanded the borders of his state. After taking control of Balkh in the north and Kandahar in the west, Babur tried to conquer India. In 1526, King Babur, who defeated Delhi Sultan Ibrahim Lodi in the Battle of Panipat, moved the capital of his state from Kabul to Agara.King Babur abandoned the "iqta" system used by the Muslim rulers before him and introduced a new form of "jagir" in India. Babur's son Humayun also continued his father's policy. But Babur's prosperity and Humayun's abdication of the throne of Delhi could not ensure the firm preservation of the feudal system. In Baburiza, the kings Akbar and Jahangir succeeded in wide application of the feudalism started by Babur.
